  • The biggest shocker to me was how these crazy things happened - I got attacked by a dragon, I saw some dude die, I fought like 10 statues by myself and literally only knowing 4 spells (2 of which aren't combat spells) then defeating a troll pretty much alone. All this in the first two days of me being in and around Hogwarts. And the reaction I get from the other kids and teachers? "Oh, you did that? Nice. Anyway..."

  • A bit of a comment I posted in another video: If Isadora was right about one thing, it's that it is better to share and study this kind of magic. Nothing stays buried forever. The very fact that Ranrok acquired any info on the Keepers and Fig's wife found the portkey indicates as much. What I find funny is the Keepers thinking the MC would follow all of their ideals and keep a kind of magic that few can see and use a secret. Even if you agree that Isadora was a complete basket case, they aren't in a position to stop you since they're dead and can only communicate through enchanted canvases.

      @Rachel-qr8kv@Rachel-qr8kv Жыл бұрын
    • It's cute how the keepers think we'll foolishly continue their ideals based solely on only their perspective. They can fuck right off for all I care. What pisses me right off is that the writers never bothered to put any nuance or present something deeper, they just wanted us to side with the keepers of bunch magically restrictive old fools having us run through their stupid moral purity tests nothing but time wasters if you ask me. I also thought the Ancient Magic plot was completely wasted. I personally believe isadora was able to advance Ancient Magic but not in they way THEY wanted it so they've offed her manipulated/altered memories to make Isadora look bad...what gets me is this....apparently trying to help people is just a no no in this game ....or rather the method one uses is. They also try to compare isadoras situation with sebasteins while I can see similarities they are not one in the same. The game does a really piss poor job at trying to convince us why AM should be kept hidden considering it very heavily relies on nothing but the keepers perspective & desperately so. Yes isadora went to far but how long was that time interval between her father & the students. If the keepers had been nurturing rather than stifling old fools perhaps isadora would still be around then again maybe not....I sense a case of possible jealously from Rackham & the others. I personally have no intention of following their magically restrictive ideals.....I'm hoping the next game gives us actual fucking choices rather than the illusion...I have no interest in being goody to shoes or "being the witch or wizard WE want you to be" bump that age rating up & push the boat all the way out in the next game & make our MC actually have more personality rather than being a bland piece of wood.

Third, as I said on the video before the game was released. The game would have done better if your character was a first-year rather than a fifth-year. Fourth, then you can develop your magical skills in both the ancient magic and the regular Magic you would learn at Hogwarts. Fifth, you do realize this game isn't based around Harry Potter right? Why do you think it was called HOGWARTS LEGACY because it takes place 101 years before Harry was born. Seventh, as I said it takes place before Harry was born and if it took place in Harry's time. Who cares if it's a collectathon that just means you can explore more around the game instead of how the old games were. Yes the games were good but they could have been better. Ninth, even if it wasn't based around Hogwarts it's still would've been cool to have an open world game like this. Tenth, just imagine going to Fluer or Victor's schools? But it has the open-world exploration of Hogwarts Legacy. That would be an amazing game to play and people would enjoy that as well. Eleventh, as for if it would still make money I'm pretty sure scented based around the universe of Harry Potter. It'll still make money regardless if it's based around Harry Potter or not lmao. • I wish Isidora played a bigger part in the plot. I was hoping the story would show more of her descent into madness to better understand why she started stealing ALL of a person's emotions like her father. Was it an unintended side effect of her using ancient magic and she wasn't there when the rest of her father's emotions leaked out of him? Did she get addicted to emotion magic and thought its power would help her eliminate pain faster? Or did she go really crazy and believe the only way to escape pain was to erase people's ability to feel anything? And her death was so anticlimactic. Part of me thought she was going to be a second-act villain and Ranrok was the warm-up. Even now, I'm thinking she's going to be a big thing in the sequels similar to how Voldemort manages to confront Harry in the first few books by taking different forms. Finding her tryptic empty in Sebastian's questline was a bit of a letdown and makes me think her painting self is in a third portrait plotting something.

    • @chrisdaughen5257 I can understand why the developers didn't want to use Isidora as one of the antagonists - it would have felt a bit too similar to Voldemort. Honestly, I'm more disappointed with Victor Rookwood, who I initially thought was being built up as a much more interesting villain than how he turned out. What if he acted less like a dumb henchman and actually had a secret plan of his own to claim the ancient magic that we gradually learned more about as the game progressed? What if he had an actual intelligent motivation for wanting such power - maybe Isidora left other clues and he learned about her desire to use magic for more "benevolent" ends, which could then present the player with the option of being able to help him rather than fight hm; this might have allowed for multiple endings and a much better story. But no, he just pops up for a few cutscenes, you blow him up in a pathetically simple boss fight, and he gets mentioned one more time before the game forgets he existed.

  • I truly think they didn’t expect this game to be as successful as it was. It was clear they had no intention of people playing deep into the late game. I’d say the first bit was super fun, challenging and engaging. Once you get a hang of combat, that’s the same time you’ve explored quite a bit and it’s literally rinse and repeat over and over and over and over again. Ever cave you go into, every enemy group you come across, every mission you find; it becomes literally the same. I’d say even now, there’s so much potential for them to add TONS of DLC missions, update enemy, etc. I don’t know if they ever will though. I struggle to see a sequel to this, but who knows. I’d rather them expand what is already here.

But on the other hand using any other spell that can arguably be more gruesome is totally fine? Take Imperio: Seems like a very useful spell to use when your toddler refuses to eat their vegetables, or to prevent your dog from chewing on the couch. Meanwhile even Avada Kedavra, while obvious why that would be illegal, at the very least it seems more compassionate to use a swift instakill on an enemy, than to use things like bombarda and the likes, in which you can slowly burn, blow up, slice them and so much more, until eventually they succumb to it.

And ofc i would love to ride dragons (im in playstation so cant play the mod), its a disgrace that we cant have a pet owl. Her voice felt auto-tuned and robotic a quarter of the time. This is not that bad. But it really doesn't help the already stitled delivery. This game is not the worst game ever. I did it enjoy it, but it IS probably the game with the most lazy or small choices that pad the game, ruin quality of life, ruin the pacing or betray the ludonarrative harmony of the game. Having the demiguises collectaton linked to the alohomora progreession was so stupid because you need to go at it in 3 phases if you want to actually want to unlock the three levels of alohomora (which is required for loot). And learning the Dark Arts as a do-gooder Hufflepuff felt so dirty. But there were no other options for me except be much weaker in comparison.

  • You forgot that the entire crux of this story is centered entirely around Isidora's father being so distraught that his son died, that he basically went catatonic from the grief and Isidora only wants to learn how to make him happy again. His son, who was seemingly BORN weak and frail and looked like he'd die at any moment already. I know he lost his child, that's awful, but there's such a thing as coping. Especially in this era losing a child has to be at least somewhat expected, especially if they're born frail. That's just a part of life. It really doesn't make that much sense while he STILL had his daughter in good health (their mother is never mentioned once I think) he's so broken up over his on the edge of death son dying he COMPLETELY forgets about her and refuses to even speak to her. He never processes his grief, he never talks to his daughter, he never remarried after his wife presumably died presumably IN CHILDBIRTH going just by what's most likely. Instead he just becomes a walking vegetable, COMPLETELY unresponsive. How does this make ANY sense? People back then were a LOT sturdier than current year, they wouldn't fall apart at a SINGLE death in the family, especially when that death is CLEARLY going to be the first to die the second things aren't going so well. Oh a MASSIVE extended drought it took LITERAL MAGIC to end? Yeah that'll do it. Honestly it's a miracle already the kid survived to the END of the drought. If he died after they fixed the area, it MUST have been from whatever condition, disease or something that he had. So he HAD to have expected and emotionally braced himself for it. Nope. He's just a massive pussy I guess, the child he knew was always going to die young died young and it just completely shattered his psyche. They treat everyone in this game taking place in, what is it the 19th CENTURY? Like they're from modern times, and not just from the incredibly racially diverse European school, but how they talk and act as well. This story really could, and probably should, have taken place in present day. To be clear, I DO still enjoy this game, and I would support a sequel being made. However there are some STARK flaws and I'd also expect a sequel to fix ALL of them, because they are ALL easily fixed.

  • There were a couple of moments I got some hope the story would actually become interesting and nuanced. But then it remembered it's a Harry Potter game and avada kedavra'd it. Don't get me wrong, I really love Harry Potter. But as I get older I realize it has way more to do with the fantastical world and broader concepts than anything to do with the plot and characters on a micro level. The idea of the wizarding world and it's version of magic is awesome but the actual social dynamics of the stories themselves are pretty bad and unsettling. It's also a world where the good is always the established order and the bad is anyone who questions that authority; regardless of that authority's actual morality. So it has to make potentially interesting and morally uncertain things suddenly clearly bad or good to maintain that; like Isidora going from having a point to suddenly unhinged or in the books for slave elves to claim they like being slaves. There is no nuance allowed bc then you may feel bad about the fun magic stuff. I'd love to see a HP story that actually tackles the uncomfortable aspects of their universe but that will never happen; it be too risky. And this game is emblematic of that, not just in its writing. The world is beautiful and you get to do all the Harry Potter things you always wanted to, but play long enough and you realize there's no depth; it's just another open world game in every basic aspect.

[The goblin uprising might make sense - though there was NOTHING in the books to mark them anything like house elves that I recall; so I'd tend to think they're conflating the two for a message that doesn't suit the race itself - but I would have had someone ELSE rob the bank and get the goblins caught up in it. So that they would in fact be blameless but be by incorrect inference, accomplices. That would also give the goblins dual reason for a justifiable grievance] ** I guess maybe I'm one of those that likes to use big words...

I think Goblins in the Wizardly world were more as the fey tolktales and not as the modern Tolkien influences, also the Goblin Banker in the game seem to been forced by Ranrok to take him to the Vault, there is a hint some of the Goblin Bank Guards were under his magical control to keep a eye on Vault 12, not they were part of his rebellion.
