We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. kzhead.infoUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.
You do get a lot for the price. Glad it is working out so well!
Travis, Great feedback. I am 67 years old. I had a right knee replacement 1 year ago. I wasn't prepared physically for that surgery. Post surgery physical therapy was tough for me, hindering my recovery. I intend to have the left knee replaced in March 2022. I am NOT making the mistake of being unprepared again. I have purchased the Schwinn IC4. It is perfect for me. I did, however, purchase a different seat. Ouch! I am in the process of building up my leg strength and endurance. I love the readout and the easy resistance and other height and handle bar adjustments. I also like the stable footprint. I have returned bikes that are not designed properly for a big guy like me. I am pushing 300 pounds. This one isdesigned and built very well. ! Very stable, quite ride. I know that I am not the target audiance for your video, however I am confident of my purchase after viewing channels like yours. Thank you sir! God bless and best regards, Dan
Thank you so much Daniel! My target audience is anyone that can benefit from my videos and I am glad you were able to! So happy to hear this bike is a great match for you and that you are putting in the work to not only better better prepared for your next surgery but also working on your long term health! I hope that everything goes well and you have a speed recovery! Have a great holiday!
Thanks for this! I really miss my spin class but with everything going on my gym while not closed isn't offering spin classes just yet. I think this is what I'm gonna get.
No problem at all! Be prepared for a potential wait. Orders through Schwinn are rather delayed right now (like most spin bike options). Every once and a while, they get a batch available on Amazon that you can get quick, but you have to be on it. They sell out quick. Good luck and hope you are able to get it fast!
Thanks so much for doing these videos! They have been incredibly helpful in giving my husband and I guidance on the best bike for both of us
No problem at all! So happy to hear they are helping you both out!
Really great and helpful video/review. Great editing. I came to this after watching another video reviewing the same bike, and yours is just much more polished and to the point.
Really appreciate it Michael! Those are some of the top items I have been trying to work on in my videos so glad it is coming through!
This is so well done! Informative, fun, well produced.
Thank you so much Berry! Been working hard to get better at my videos so your comment really mean a lot!
Thank you for this review. Helped solidify my decision to get the IC4. You are very thorough and I love that you deliver your reviews in a manner that is intended to inform and not sell one product over another. I'll place my order next week and I can't wait!!!! So excited...
Thank you so much Gillian1913 and thank you for your comments about delivery! My goal is always to inform and never to sell so it always makes my day when I get a comment showing that is recognized! So glad you found a good option for you and hope you love it!!!
I have been watching several of your videos. All have been very helpful! My husband and I want to purchase a bike but are not sure which one to get. So many great choices. Your attention to detail is excellent! I am leaning towards this bike since it seems to be easy to sync with the Pelaton app. Thank you for the great content in your videos! Love that you kids joined in the fun! Loved the hat!🤣
Thank you so much Michelle! I love hearing that the videos were helpful! I will let kids know you loved it! They absolutely love being in the videos and love when they know people noticed them! I hope whatever you decide to go with, you love! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the review. Was going for the peloton bike but couldn’t wait 3 months to get it plus the hefty price tag attached with a 40 dollar membership. Now I am sold on this bike. Liked and subscribed.
Great to hear Carolina and glad you found the right option for you! Hope you love it!
Just what I was looking for, thanks for the review
Glad to hear and no problem!
SOOOO helpful and answered all my questions! Thank you so much!
Great to hear! No problem and thank you!
Thank you, sir! Wonderful video. I had the IC4 in my cart. I was waiting for your final comment on this. I will now hit the "Place Your Order" button.
No problem at all! Glad it helped! Enjoy and hope it works out great for you!
Thanks for this. Without being able to work or go to the gym I needed a more affordable option.
No problem at all and happy to help!
Thanks for this review. It’s really helped me to decide which bike to buy for peloton digital app. I have purchased this exact bike (Schwinn IC8 in UK). I have been deciding for many weeks on which option to take, app vs peloton bike. Can’t wait for my Schwinn to arrive however, I have to wait up to 1 month for delivery hear in the uk. Thanks for all your great uploads. 👍🏽
Awesome and hope the bike comes in soon for ya! Get ready to sweat! 😀
Soooooo happy I clicked this video this is everything I needed.
Great to hear!!! So happy it helped!
Super helpful video!! Thanks, Travis! And don’t think I didn’t see you on the Schwinn with the Peloton tank @ 7:30 😉😂
Haha! I 100 percent promise I did not realize I did that until you just pointed it out! Glad the video was helpful! Have a great one Rebecca!
Thank you for this review. Helped me make decision in ordering the IC4!
No problem! Glad I could help!
Same!
Thanks Chase!
Waiting for your review, well done! Believe I'm going with the Peloton cause I just want all in one package. I do t want to worry about cadence/resistance.
Both are great options! I think you will be very happy!
Just discovered your channel and I'm happy to say that I'm glad I did! New subscriber here!
Welcome Emayhand and thank you so much! I have so many products to review it is ridiculous! Stay tuned! 😀
You have helped me SO much. I cycle at my local YMCA about 4-5 times a week and with now being in lockdown I miss my workouts so much. I can't justify the price tag of the peloton, since I am hoping to go back to the gym when this nightmare is over BUT I am VERY intrigued by the peloton and their studio like experience. The IC4 paired with the peloton app seems to fit the bill right now. Thanks SO much for this informative video!!!
Glad to help Carla! It is a great option while we are in this situation. Once things return to normal, you will still have an option at home too if you decide to keep it. They have a lot of other content on the app as well outside of spinning if that is of interest to you. Hope you love it if you decide to get it.
@@Learnwithtravis Thanks, so I have the bike in the shopping cart at the Schwinn website and it says shipping 45 days GGGRRRRR!!!! am going to call on Monday to see if this is right. It seems to long of a wait!= :( The bike is sold out at dicks and walmart :(
@@carlakline3926 I don't know if this helps but they have the bike sold from best buy as well! www.bestbuy.com/site/schwinn-ic4-indoor-cycling-exercise-bike-gray/6405082.p?skuId=6405082
Great review, this was one of the spin bikes I was checking out too, but then I took the plunge and went for the Peloton, so far I'm very happy, although I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the Schwinn IC4 or Bowflex C6, and of course very easy to pair with a TV too for the big screen experience. It's a tough call, I do however, find it funny that I actually paid nearly $3k (CAD) for a bike that doesn't go anywhere lol! But on the upside I do love it!
Both are great options. The Peloton is expensive, but if it helps you improve your health, I say it is worth it. Hard to put a price tag on your health. Glad you love it!
Exactly what I was thinking. I could get a heck of a road bike for $3200. Am I insane! But I guess since it snows half the year up here, I suppose the investment is warranted!
Thank you so much, I've been trying to decide which bike to buy and this is the one for me!
No problem and glad it helped! Hope you love it Melissa!
Thanks for the review, I was worried about the magnetic resistance shortfalls.
No problem at all! Glad to help!
We got the Schwinn IC4 for use with the peloton app after watching your reviews and doing a lot of research, and are super happy with it. It just made a lot of sense for us financially. We knew we would not use the leader board. Love the app with our treadmill as well,. Thanks for your info!
So glad to hear you are happy and the videos helped you figure out what was right for you! Thank you so much Gigs S!!!
Curious about the leader board? Is that something that's exclusive to the Peloton bike & app?
Thank you for the video Travis this bike sort of makes life easier and covers all bases for Peloton and Zwift end of next month is when I shall be making my final decision but shall be looking forward to the Sunny and Schwinn comparison .Its a catch 22 as with peloton bikes are more expensive but subscription is cheaper but say Other brands bikes are cheaper but subscriptions are more expensive so for me I think this bike and peloton maybe best mix.Keep those videos coming dude.
Thank you and I will. It is a tough decision to make but a good one to have to make! 😀
GREAT video, thank you for all the detail!
No problem at all! Thanks Kerry!
All your videos helped me get the right bike to start my cycle journey. I went with the Schwinn IC4. Thanks
Wonderful! Always love hearing the videos helped out! Hope you love the IC4!
Thank you kindly for your reviews. I appreciate your thoroughness.
My pleasure!
Great video! I just got this bike and I loved your review!!!!
Awesome! Thank you! Enjoy the bike L T!
How have you been liking it? I’m trying to upgrade my $25 clearance exercise bike and I’m so overwhelmed at the options!
Thank you so much! My bike comes in on Tuesday, & i am completely excited!!!
Congrats and no problem. Have fun with it!
How long did it take to get it???
where did you purchase .... cost ??
I bought my IC4 because of your reviews. I've had it for a week and my legs are sore but I can't stop. You did a great job with a professional touch. Thanks
Yes! Thank you so much Leo and great to hear you are enjoying it!
you have fantastic videos - thank you for all your bike comparisons. I did go with this bike, but am waiting 3 months for it. End of September.
Thank you so much Tricia! Love hearing the videos helped out! Hope you love the IC4 and it comes in quicker than you were told!
Excellent review. I am definitely interested in purchasing this. Thank you Travis!
My pleasure! If you get it I hope you love it!
This is so helpful. Thank you!!!
No problem at all! Thanks Billie!
Travis, I went with the IC4 because of your review and it finally got here. It only took 10 weeks. I got it assembled and I’ve put about 5 rides on it so far. I totally agree with your assessment of the build quality. I love that it works with the Peloton app! I do have a problem though. I’m 6’5” tall and I have this thing MAXED OUT! At those settings I’m comfortable but at first I found myself really wanting to go up one more click on the seat height. It was all in my head. I compared the seat height with my Trek and found that the bend in my knee was almost the same. So after all these rides I’m super happy. So anyone that’s over 6’5” tall you may want to go ride the thing in a showroom first and make sure it fits. Also, I can’t ride with a bottle in the drink holder because my knee will hit and I can’t raise the handlebars anymore. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for the video!!!
Glad to help and so happy to hear the bike is working out so well for you Jon. I hear ya on the tall guy problems. At 6'3" I run into a lot of problems with fit on various things, so I can't imagine 6'5"". Also, thanks for the feedback. This will help other tall viewers with their decision! Keep at it Jon and thanks for the kind words!
@@Learnwithtravis I am VERY close to buying this bike and I am 6'3" Would you say I would have any issues at all fitting like I should on this bike? Thanks!
@@Jeff-sh3cc wondering if you got this. 6'3 as well and trying to find something that may be a good fit.
Watched a LOT of videos before purchasing the iC4.... yours was by far the most helpful to me. Thanks for a great review!
Glad to help and really appreciate the kind comment! Thank you!
Hi Travis! Great video and enjoyed the review :) will this bike fit on a 48” x 24” exercise bike mat? And do you happen to know the measurements of the seat cushion? Hoping to get a seat cover for some extra cushion.
Thanks Dubbfresh! Sorry for the delay as I had to get the tape measure out. The IC4 will fit on that mat no problem, so you are good to go. The seat is very much like the Peloton which I know a lot of people have got the seat cushion linked below. The size was roughly 10.5 inches by a little under 7 inches if that helps. amzn.to/38CXU1b Good luck!
I just bought mine yesterday and put it together today by watching an assembly video on KZhead. Very easy. Hardest part was unpacking. Was going to buy a Bowflex and ordered one and it is a 10 week delivery. Did a Google search in my area and found the Schwinn at a local Dicks about 40 miles away. This is the same as the Bowflex jut different badging and made by the same company for $100 less. So far so good.
Nice find! So many are having to wait forever to get one, so finding one right away is amazing! Hope you enjoy it!
Because of this video I just bought the Schwinn bike! THANK YOU!
Great to hear Taylor! Enjoy spinning and get ready for some great cardio!
Hi! Where did you purchase? I can't find it in stock anywhere. Thanks ahead of time!
Mine just arrived and can't wait to get it together!
Congrats and enjoy!
Here's to hoping it goes on sale for Black Friday. Thanks for the review, well done, very helpful. I didn't realize the BT cadence sync with the Peloton App. That's huge.
Good luck! I hope it does for ya! One thing to note, it only syncs with Apple products. For some reason it does not work with Android. Thanks and have a good one Chad!
Great review!!! Can't wait to get mine. We've had a Schwinn spinner before and it was awesome so I know this purchase won't disappoint! Thanks for the review!
Thank you so much Evelyn! Sounds like you know what you are doing! Are you going to pair it with Peloton Digital?
@@Learnwithtravis Oh for sure! :) I'm already subscribed to the Peloton app and I utilize the other programs on there, yoga, bootcamp, cardio... i really love it... so I can't wait to get on the bike. I currently go to a local spin studio until I get my bike. I will look forward to your video with the schwin ic4 vs sunny bike as well. :) your content is awesome!
Awesome! Thanks again Evelyn! Go get it!!!
This is a very complete and well-conceived video review, touching on all of the build, assembly and use factors that serious fitness enthusiasts are likely to be curious about. Now that you've had the bike for six months (which presumes you didn't just have the rig on a short-term loan from Schwinn), the same serious fitness enthusiasts still on the fence about the purchase would enjoy seeing a detailed follow-up review in which you share your updated opinions. Thank you, Travis! Stay safe and take care of those you love.
I did buy the bike myself but for the purpose of creating the review. I then sold it to work on creating reviews on other options to help people make the best decision for them. I do keep tabs on the comments for the video and most say they are very happy with their decision and really enjoy it. While I can't offer a 6 month update, everything I have seen suggests most people don't regret their decision to get one. Good luck!
@@Learnwithtravis Thank you for your reply, Travis. I certainly understand, and it is likely that I will be purchasing the IC4, as it appears to offer the most 'bang for the buck' of all the bikes I've been researching. Your reviews are quite thorough, and I will continue to follow them. Thanx again.
Just purchased this bike today based on your video. Great work man
Thank you! Hope it works out great for you!
Travis, Awesome video! I'm going to be getting the IC4 after watching your video. You helped me feel confident in the purchase. I'm 6'5" and was happy to know it will work for me. Thanks!! I'd love to get a Peloton but the $$$ is prohibitive. Thanks again! I'm Subscribed and looking forward to you future videos.
Thanks Jon! Great to hear the video helped you out with making the decision that is best for you! Hope the IC4 works out great for you!
Hi Jon - how is it still holding up? I’m also 6’5” so I am worried about the frame shaking being 215 pounds.
Steven Bell Sorry I’ve not yet purchased the IC4. Once I do I’ll let you know.
@@stevenbell Steve, Sorry I took so long to get back. I’ve been riding my C4 for months now and love it. I wish I had just one more click to raise my seat just a little more but it’s ok. The frame is not an issue at all. I’m 300 pounds and it has no issue with my weight. Let me know if you get one.
Favorite cycling shoes to use with the IC4? Love your channel btw and these IC4 videos helped me make the decision to buy one! Thank you!
Thank you so much Brayden and glad they helped! Full transparency, as I bought the IC4 for review purposes only, I didn't buy spin shoes for it and only used the cages. From following the Peloton boards, I know a lot of people like the Shimano brand (Example Below). There are a lot of good options out there, but I know I have heard good things about that brand. Good luck! amzn.to/3aDo3hh
Excellent presentation definitely got me into buying one today.
Thank you so much Jose and hope it works out great for you!
Thank you for this video. This was super well done. I am considering buying this bike, I'm still doing research bc I read some mix reviews on Amazon and for $900 I expect super high quality. I like the idea of a one stop shop to be able to use the peloton app.
Thank you so much Viviane! I can say that most feedback from commenters on this bike has been very possible. It does have great flexibility in that it works with various products easily. Hope you are able to find the best one for you!
Hi Travis! Thanks so much for your reviews. I was going between peloton and the ic4, and went with the latter in the end. Patiently waiting for it to come in, estimated arrival time is mid September. I believe I read somewhere that the ic4 is a SPD clip in- any suggestions on cycle shoes?? I know it has regular cages, but I wanted to explore my other options! Thanks again and keep up these great videos!
Thanks Chelsea! I know a lot of people recommend the Shimano brand. I know there are a lot of good options though. Good luck and hope it comes in sooner than later!
Received my Schwinn Ic4 from Amazon after waiting 2 weeks, couldn’t be happier. I’m enjoying everything about the bike and the Peloton App for $12.99 monthly membership. Love it!
Wonderful! So glad you are loving it and that great Peloton Digital price!
Thanks very much for the review Travis. It was most helpful. I have have only been able to get either the cadence or the heart rate to connect on the Peloton App. Should both be able to connect at the same time for the same ride?
Glad I could help! Both should be able to connect at the same time. That is very odd. It has been a while but I am pretty sure I tested that without issue. if you have any pending updates for the Peloton App I would apply them to make sure you are current. Good luck!
After months of research I just purchased the IC4 and am very happy!! I wanted the peloton experience without the cost and being locked into their content. Your video solidified my decision so thank you!!! There are so many options now it can be overwhelming so you broke it down into what’s important - especially for a newbie. Again thank you! Do you buy chance have any recommendations on bike shoes?
Yay! So happy to hear you are loving your decision and that the videos helped you out! Thank you so much Michelle! I am linking a video below that covers some of those details. The description has the shoes I purchased linked. kzhead.info/sun/Z66LopebanN6n4k/bejne.html
Hi Travis! First off, great videos. Very informative! I think I'm going to get the IC4 based off what you listed. But I was wondering about your comments about the resistance. I'm a larger guy (6'3" 250 pounds) and was wondering if there was any way to recalibrate the resistance so that the levels are somewhat comparable to the peleton?
After I created the video I learned that Schwinn does have a calibration document. If you reach out to them, they are suppose to provide it. (Maybe do that before you order to verify) But with that, you are supposed to be able to re-calibrate it so that is can be more difficult. Let me know if they do provide it! And thanks for the nice words!
Hi Travis, thanks for making these videos, you talked me out of a peloton and into a Schwinn IC4....just pick it up 5 days ago and almost love it. I have been taking spin classes for 4 years at a gym so I am not new to this. I believe my drive belt tension is set way off. I am not able to get up to 100 rpms even at 0 resistance.... Have you heard of the tension being way off or is there something I missed during set up that would have released the tension. I haven’t been on a bike in 6 months but I hope I’m not that out of shape. Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Hi Mimi! Glad to hear the videos helped you out. One things I have learned since that video was published is that the calibration for the IC4 seems to vary widely from the factory. I believe Schwinn has calibration instructions that help you properly tune it. I would reach out to them and get those and I then I think you will be much happier!
Great video and explanation. Very helpful. Pop up ads are annoying but I get it.
Thanks William and thank you for understanding!
Thank you. That was a nice review. Very helpful!
My pleasure! Thank you Alan!
Subscribed because you’re awesome @ what you do and inspiring. I’m a 100% MTB‘ er shut down by the winter - this is what I’m looking for .
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that and glad the video helped out!
Hello! First of all, I want to thank you so very much for your detailed videos. I’m on a weight loss journey trying to lose 20-25 pounds. I’ve been working very hard and having results BUT the weather does get in my way sometimes. I wanted a peloton and stumbled on your video... so happy I found something cost effective thanks to you! I just bought the ic4 (I am super excited!!... no joke super duper happy LOL , it will take about 45 business days but that’s ok. I was actually going to get the peloton because the delivery times could possibly be a week quicker ... but I thought about it & do I really want to pay 30 a month? that is a lot when you do think about it. But anyhow I am truly grateful for you & your videos...I’ve also stumbled across your weight loss journey I will be checking out in the future! If you have any suggestions on bike shoes, bike seat, or a floor mat please let me know. Also, would you think this type of scenario would work equally as well with a treadmill mimicking the peloton tread? I was just curious on your thoughts. TIA! I’m sure this purchase will be life changing for me & a great birthday gift to myself.
Happy birthday and congratulation! Sounds like you are making a very informed and smart decision. Improved my day just hearing how happy and excited you are to get this bike! You sound like you are on a the right track to reaching your goals. I wish you the best! As far as spin shoes, any spin shoe with spd cleats should work just fine. I linked an example down below. I also linked a mat, as I believe a 2x4 sized mat will work perfectly. When it comes to the seat, I would wait until you get the bike and give a solid chance. You might have to get used to it, but I think the seat that comes with the IC4 will be plenty good. I have not played around with different treadmill yet with Peloton app....might have to play with that! 😀 Hope the bike comes in soon! Enjoy! LearnWithTravis Thank you so much, appreciate it!
What a great, detailed video. Thank you.
No problem at all! Thanks for the kind comment!
Thanks for the great review! Have you measured the Q factor? Really curious to know this before I buy...
Thank you so much! I don't have that bike anymore but most manufactures do have this listed so I think it is pretty easy to find.
Great video, thank you. How many revolutions of the resistance knob does it take to increase resistance from 0 to 100? Ive also heard the ic4 needs calibration sometimes. When your screen reads 100, does the knob turn any further?
Thank you! I don't have that bike anymore so I am not sure on the number of revolutions. They do need to be calibrated sometimes and Schwinn can provide that document. As far as Peloton comparison, a lot of people use this: www.etsy.com/listing/780141425/schwinn-ic4-bowflex-c6-spin-bike
How about a nod to lil'man in the back just going beast mode on the bike the entire time.
Haha! I will tell him about this comment. It will make his day. He was riding hard! 😂
Haha this was all I could pay attention to!
Thx for the awesome review and btw very cute kids!
My pleasure and thank you so much Diane!
Thanks for your video on this as I’ve eagerly been awaiting your take on the IC4! It does seem like a pretty solid bike. I went to Dick’s to check it out but they only had the IC3 which looks really similar. I think you already did a comparison video to the Peloton bike vs one of the Sunny bikes (I think it was) but would you consider doing a side-by-side to the peloton bike as well? I understand if that’s too redundant though. I’m still so torn on my decision. On one hand the IC4 seems like a great option at about a third of the price as peloton but on the other hand not having those crucial metrics like output and the leaderboard etc to me seems like ultimately I might regret not having that with the peloton. Tough call! Thanks for putting out these videos though, they really are helpful!
Thank you so much Maaike! Glad the videos are helpful! It is a solid bike and I think most would be very happy with it. You are right that the Peloton Digital vs Peloton is a very tough discussion. The video below applies equally to the IC4. What it really comes down to is if losing the output numbers\tracking, competing against yourself, and competing against other take away too much your motivation to go getting those workouts in. Personally, I love making smart financial decisions which strongly makes me consider a Sunny or IC4 option. On the flip side, the one thing I bend on, is your health as that impacts the quality of the rest of your life. On that note, it makes me consider the Peloton. (Which makes this discussion so tough) So, in short, if those features I mentioned are not that significant to you, by all means, save your money. But if those features are what will keep you working out and coming back, it may be worth it. That may or may not help! Good luck with your decision! kzhead.info/sun/osaLg9d_pmmsrH0/bejne.html
LearnWithTravis thanks for that and I think that’s a good point that ultimately this is a piece of equipment that is designed to be used frequently and to get in better health, that’s the whole point and maybe why people can justify the cost of Peloton. At the end of the day I think I’m going to end up a peloton owner because I just see all of that data being the driving force behind me using it all the time. The Schwinn seems like an excellent product though and reasonably priced for what it is. However, $800 is still quite a lot of money as well and therefore why it is just not an easy decision to make! Anyway, I appreciate your channel and the research behind your videos so thank you!
Thank you so much! Glad to help and thank you for the wonderful comments. It does sound like you are figuring out which direction to go! 😀
Great video! Just got my IC4; resistance compared to Pelaton App seems off on the lower resistance... Any thoughts there?
This comment just popped up in my feed after two weeks. Sorry about the delay. Another viewer commented that sometimes they need a calibration and if you contact Schwinn, they will tell you how. I would recommend that as it takes away from following Peloton if the resistance if off. Good luck!
Hi! Your videos are so informative. If you had to pick, IC4 or Stryde? Most likely using with Peloton app
Thank you Amanda! It really comes down to how much you want to spend. Both can be great options. If it were me, I would go with the Stryde. Little better bike IMO, large attached monitor for more immersive experience, uses Stryde display for cadence and not Peloton (future proofed), and has the flexibility to use other apps\streaming services if you want to switch it up.
Thank you to you and your adorable helpers for this wonderful review, super helpful to this tall rider who's been having trouble finding something suitable! For those curious, the Swchinn site states the recommended height is 4'6 - 6'6, so I'm hoping I can squeak in :) Quick question, does the seat seem like it would be easy enough to remove and replace? Also (forgive my lack of physics knowledge...) is it fair to assume a lighter rider would have a little more trouble with the higher resistance? Thanks again!
😀 Thank you! As far as the seat, I don't have that bike anymore (Nothing bad, moved on to other bikes to review) but usually the seats are very easy to replace. As far as weight, I don't think it matters when in the saddle but once you stand up, you are able to put your weight into it and fight higher resistances easier. Hope you love the new bike!
Great video Travis! I'm going back and forth between this and the Peloton. Do you know if there are leaderboards using just the Peloton digital membership paired with this bike? That's going to be the deciding factor for me... All about them leaderboards!
Peloton for you! No leaderboard unless you go with Peloton itself.
Hi, this was really helpful. I've been researching bikes and watched your other reviews and the Schwinn IC4 seems like you really get your money's worth. I've never done a spin workout before, and am wondering if there is any benefits/advantages/disadvantages of clipping in or just wearing regular sneakers. Also wondering if I can pair a Garmin device with this model. Thanks in advance.
Great to hear! Personally, I like clipping in much better. It is more comfortable than cages around your feet, and you feel more connected allowing you to ride hard with confidence while having one less thing to worry about. Does not mean you can't make cages work, but I do like clipping in better. I don't have that bike anymore to test, but I think their website might have information on HRM supported devices. Good luck!
Thank you for the video!
My pleasure! Thanks Bernardino!
Great review! Thanks.
Thanks Mike!
Very helpful review, thanks!
No problem at all Simone! Thank you!
Much appreciated! I had a nordictrac in cart and saw this.. then realized, why spend 6times the amount when this does what I need! Thank you
Awesome! Glad the video helped and hope it works our great for you!
I just bought one, thanks for the great video! Also looking for a flooring like yours! that looks great, where can I get something like that?
My pleasure and hope you love the bike! I got mine from RubberFlooringInc.com I got the 3/8 inch heavy duty rubber rolls that are 4 ft wide. Heavy guys but minimal seams and works so well. Closing in on 5 years since I installed them and still working fantastic.
I'm dying for the Sunny vs Schwinn video. I've settled into buying one of them but there are things i like about both so anxious to get you take. Please post soon 😁
Haha! I will work extra hard to get that video out as soon as possible!!! Anything specific that would be helpful for you if I cover it? Plan as of now as is to do a 2 part video. First part just talking about which features I like on which bike better. Second part, which bike I recommend purchasing based on your situation\use of bike.
@@Learnwithtravis Awesome video Travis, I'm with Kyle. I'd like you to compare long term reliability, Q factor, and what you think would be the best purchase of the 2. Thanks again.
Perfect! Thanks for the feedback MG MG.
@@Learnwithtravis How about you give us a hint which one...we'll watch the video when it comes out! I've been waiting for THIS video I just watched. Good review.
LOL - Can I promise to work really hard and get that video out as fast as possible? 😂
Truly thank you so much for all your videos. I weigh 250lbs 6ft tall which bike would you recommend for me to use apps
No problem at all! Really depends on what you want. If you want to keep the cost down and keep it simple, one of the Sunny Health and Fitness bikes that looks like a fit for you (many models out there). If you want a bike that has built in sensors and a resistance display for following Pelotoin rides at a slight cost jump, the IC4. If you want a bike that is starting to feel like closer to high end bike tier, has the attached tablet, but can still fully support Peloton Digital, the Stryde. Hope that helps!
Helpful review, thank!
No problem! Thank you Paul!
I hope I can find this to buy somewhere in Canada! Looking for something more affordable for me than the Peloton right now. Thanks for the review!
Glad to help and hope you can find one too! I know it is not easy right now.
Flaman Fitness in Canada carries these
Also, the Bowflex C6 is the exact same bike. Bowflex and Schwinn source from the same manufacturer
Thanks for the informative video. Would you show up on the leaderboard in the class with the IC4? Also, are all of your personal metrics tracked in the Peloton in the same way that they would be with a Peloton bike?
Glad to help Conner! With the IC4, you do not participate on the leaderboard, sorry. That is for Peloton riders only (Keep a level playing field instead of random bikes with different calibrations). As far metrics being stored, yes. When you look through your ride history, you see the ride listed and any data that was provided. So, you will not see as much a Peloton ride, but if you were using a cadence sensor and heart rate monitor, you will see information from both those, calories, and heart rate zone information.
Very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Great review!
Thanks AJ H!
Great review. You mentioned if you're heavier and/or like a lot of resistance the ic4 may need some additional thought. What would you recommend (besides the Peloton) that provides that additional resistance? I've been looking at the IC4, sole900 as well as the Sunny. Thanks!
Thank you Jason and appreciate the comment! Of bikes that I have actually tested, I liked the Sunny I tested (Video linked below). While there was not a huge difference, I liked it better and could tell it would provide better resistance for my size (210 LBS). I am sure there are a lot of other good options out there as well. Generally, the larger the flywheel the better the chance it has quality resistance. I have heard that you can adjust the resistance on the IC4 so there is a good chance you can improve that situation as well, but I did not test it. kzhead.info/sun/mdWOh7B5kHx5loE/bejne.html
@@Learnwithtravis Awesome. I appreciate it. I'm 230 and use a Stages Spin bike regularly at the gym, but moving to the home gym for a bit, like most, given the current environment. Just wanting to get something legit/good but not spend 2K. Weighing the pros, cons and if I want to connect to any of the apps or just ride. Your advice and videos are really well done and appreciated!
@@jasonreid8152 Glad to hear they helped and I appreciate the kind words! A lot of it depends on what features you want. If you just want a good spin bike I really liked the Sunny. There are a lot of good spin bikes out there though so I am sure you will find something. I hear comments all the time about how people loved their Sunny bike regardless of which model, so that seems to be a safe decision.
Thanks, very informative
Good to hear! Thanks Ross!
Awesome video Dude!
Thank you!
Nice review! What type of shelves are those? Those are pretty sweet looking.
Thanks! www.storewall.com/product/home-fitness-kit/
I am pretty sold on this bike over the sunny! My main concern about the peloton app though is I am a total beginner as well as my fiancé...we are worried that we won’t be able to keep up with the classes and speeds that the professional instructors are asking us to do. Do they have entry level classes tailored to peoples body weight and experience etc.?
First, don't let that bother you at all. People say that who have the actual Peloton all the time. Most can't keep up at the beginning. But as long as you are doing your best, pushing yourself, and keeping at it... you will be amazed at home much quicker you get stronger. It is not about keeping up with them, but letting them help you to push harder than you would on your own and build up to their levels over time. Second, they do have beginner rides as well as many different ride types. You will be able to play around with different rides types and instructors and find options perfectly suited for you. Don't worry about that!
Travis, thank you for the videos. Quick question: how does the Q factor of the IC4 feel relative to the Peloton? Can you tell when riding the IC4 that it is wider bike (in terms of Q ffactor?).
No problem! I know there is a difference but can't remember it off the top of my head. But I can tell you as I swapped back and forth, it never felt different. So for me, the difference was small enough that it didn't register.
I'm currently shopping for a bike, I like this Schwinn IC4, it has everything I want at under $850. There is a SUNNY SF-B1986, check it out, it has all the same features for the same price. I'm not too concerned about the high resistance, I'm 160lbs. You're right, the bike looks great and solid, should last. Thumb up!
Thank you Rejean and whatever you go with, I hope you love it!
Hi Travis. Thanks for taking the time for this review. Re: the Peleton integration you describe in your review, did you use the Peleton installed app, or the website, and which subscription ($39/mo All-Access, or $12.99/mo)? Finally, is/was the tablet an iPad or Android? Thanks again!
No problem! I have tested with my iPad and iPhone and both worked well at the lower cost. I think you can use the website for content but would not have the cadence displayed. Android is the same as it worked for content, but does not display your cadence. So the best option is Apple if you have that.
Thanks for the video; it was super helpful. But that wall paint color though lol
Glad to hear it was helpful! What color should the wall be?
Hey Travis! Long-time spin studio goer, new to in-home cycling. I finally decided on the IC4 vs the Peloton, and your review was a big influence of that. I really wanted a quality bike to kick start my home cycling, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on a Peloton. I fully intend to use the Peloton app, though. I was especially sold when you mentioned that the Resistance levels were the same (1-100). I am now seeing Peloton conversation charts being sold for IC4. Should I get a conversation chart or are the bikes resistance really true to number? I appreciate any feedback and thanks for the great video!
Thanks Elvira! One things I have learned from comments on the IC4 is that is has some inconsistencies in resistance. I am not 100 percent sure one machine will be exactly like the next. Schwinn has a calibration document to fine tune the resistance if you need to. Personally, I would wait and test it and see what you think. A resistance of 30 should roughly resemble a "flat road" ride. If it does, I would see how that works and if not, calibrate it so it does feel that way. Hope that helps!
hi how do u compare home bike with commercial bikes in the gym?
there is a massive difference btwn the peloton resistances and the ic4 ones when you are looking at under 50. I highly recommend you get the resistance conversion chart that is sold on etsy, makes a huge difference, esp if you are not a 210lb muscle-y dude, haha. (A 30 on peloton is a 9 on IC4, as a reference.)
Hi Travis! Can you take the peloton live classes with this bike? I would go with the peloton but being a cycle instructor I am so want to be able to other programs such as lea mills sprint. I currently work with a Keiser m3i as well as a stages bike. Do you have any experience with their high resistance and how does it compare to the IC4 resistance? Thank you. Any help would be great.
I was just looking around for you, and it looks like you can only do the prerecorded classes. But keep in mind, these are the same live classes with the same structure, just watched later. I don't think there is much of a difference unless you are on actual Peloton so you can compete against the other first riders. Sounds like you have a great setup and I know a lot of people have said good things about the m3i. I have not tested it yet, but did reach out to the company to see if they were interested in providing a bike for reviews, so we will see! My guess is the m3i is better than the IC4, simply because it is in another class\price point, but hopefully I will be able to say for sure down the road. Good luck!
Super helpful review! I've been looking at the Peloton and NordicTrak, but not excited about spending that much $$. This seems like a great alternative. I like how you showed how easy it is to use the Peloton Digital, but do you know if it will also match up with NordicTrak's iFIT software? What I really like about there programs is the outdoor riding experience. I think that would be an awesome way to take my mind off the ride and see some amazing scenery. I realize that the iFIT has a way to auto adjust the NT bike's resistance and height, and that obviously those features wouldn't work on this bike, but if it could at least track my speed and progress through the course, that'd be awesome. Thanks for your input!
Hey John! Appreciate that! I don't know much about the Nordictrack just yet, so I can't answer some of your questions. I am strongly considering getting the S22i to review, but it will take a little while before I have content up. Not sure on your timeline, but letting you know. 😀 I will say, the Peloton has a great scenic rides. I checked Peloton Digital and some of them are available under featured rides. It seems to be a limited selection but had roughly 10 available if that helps you out. I don't think you can use iFit on other spin bikes. Pretty sure Nordictrack keeps that one in house. If you look at the IC4 website, they list the apps that are available. www.schwinnfitness.com/ic4/100873.html Hope that helps. Sorry I could not provide more details. Hopefully soon!
From what I can see, the IC4 is compatible with third party apps like Zwift and Rouvy. Peloton doesn't have access to these other third party apps.
This is true.
Thanks for the video. I'm leaning on the IC4 mainly because of the price point. My shoulders are wide (5'7). Any thoughts on the size of the handlebars on the IC4?
No problem! I am 6'3" and a decent size person and I thought they were just fine. Hopefully they would be fine for you as well.
Thanks super helpful video. I don't have a new tablet. Can it be used with a standard small android tablet?
No problem! Last I heard you lose a little bit of functionality (Cadence Sync I think) and not sure if that has changed, but the app is on the Android platform. I don't know if only certain versions work, but I would recommend giving it a quick download and test to be sure.
So Helpful! I am told this is a virtual twin to the Bowflex C6....true? If so, which would you choose?
Thanks Jennifer! Normally the IC4 because they are twins and the IC4 is 100 dollars less, but right now there is a huge wait for the IC4. So, with our current situation, it is more of a get what you can get!
LearnWithTravis thanks Travis!
Thumbs up. The hat ingenuity is genius :-). Very helpful video.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Terry!
Hey Travis, thank you so much for this video and for the comparison video with the Sunny bike. Your awesome reviews helped me decide on the IC4. It's in our budget range, and offers the flexibility we want. I considered the MYX Fitness bike, but I don't want to be forced into a subscription. Having the option to use different services like the Peloton digital app is perfect. Keep making great content!
Thank you so much for leaving such a kind comment. Glad the videos helped! I do know the IC4 is hard to get right now, so be prepared for that. Good luck!
Did you end up getting this bike and does it work with the myx program (bodi)?
Can you adjust the iPad holder if you need to prop the screen up more?
Thanks for awesome video 😀
No problem 😊
