Hey Endy, do you believe the theory that GW deliberately made Warhammer 40K hated by its fans so they could drastically lower their stock price and Amazon could buy them cheaply?
The only way forward for GW is to lower their prices. The only thing killing interest in the hobby is the buy in price. IF GW was smart, the new Custodes would be making super small armies viable, so you could play the hobby with an extremely cheap buy in, to get the player into the hobby. Get them hooked and then let them dive deeper in over time, the rules should be a free app, for greater, easier access to more. The game is what keeps folks in over the decades, not just the lore and models. The game itself. But whatever. They have been leaving their fans behind for years. Each new codex leaves more and more folk behind. They really need to stop introducing new rules and focus on new factions. Preferably fan made. So that the female only faction the woke want so bad, will appear all on its own over time.

GW has no concept of how good it has had it with its customer base. They had freaking professional animators making animations that took thousands of hours to produce FOR FREE and destroyed that because it wasn't printing them money directly. Imagine if George Lucas decided he would sue every kid in America who had a lightsaber battle, that is how STUPID that move was.

GW is a dead company as far as I'm concerned. Everyone in our Original Warhammer and Warhammer 40K groups cancelled our subscriptions and vowed never spend another euro buying GW's garbage. We have a couple of graphic artists in our group so we'd rather design our own armies, then buy a 3-D printer and create our own models. Additionally, our group plans on freezing the Warhammer 40K rule sets from Eighth Edition (2017) and using those as the base for our games in the future, so who needs to buy ANYTHING from a company that does not respect its fan base.
I see a great opportunity to make some money here. Just take the IP from GW and let the fans who care about it continue it's production.

We are going to see a Disney downfall but much short-lived since they do not have decades upon decades of success.
They are doing a simple dialectic process. You smash to opposite viewpoints into each other and find a middle ground. Then again... and again until you carefully nudged the narrative toward your end goal. It' s looooong drawn out process but it works. The end game? Something like the acceptance of MAPs. That is why GW does not care about the old guard. They want to get rid of them. Or rather, change them. This is a multi-faceted strategy between school indoctrination, government power and company policy. This franchise is being re-marketed for a new generation. Look at current younger generations and you will understand exactly why. Over the next couple of years GW will most likely be stronger and better positioned than they are now. The fans will be different. Maybe not as bad as they are marketing toward now but different. They are purposefully destroying or eliminating the old guard so that the next generation of players won't have their dad's hangups on lore and his idea of a "boys club". New kids are programmed to follow the narrative. Either through schools or weak parenting. The powers that be will keep this up until they have your children marching outside of the white house with banners protesting the wost degenrate things you can think of. And they can afford it.

He's the King's son, controls the Saudi Military and directs assets so large that he makes Elon Musk look like a McDonald's employee. Normal people aren't even allowed to touch him. He's the most powerful man in the country (technically after the King, but his father is old and frail). Well, New 52 Wonder Woman storyline did note that male babies were born to Amazons, but they were immediately cast away, ending up in places such as Hephaestus' workshop. Though I wouldn't consider that a complete retcon of DC Amazonian lore, more along the lines of providing answers to logical questions such as "Do Amazons give birth to male babies?", and rather than saying "No... because magic", they provide an answer that still fits in with the lore. To me, it's like explaining a plot hole and not destroying the lore in the process. What they are doing with WH40 though... oof.

Years ago in college lived in a Christian community house. The churches that ran it were liberal, the people living in it were conservative. They had rules, no sex, drunkeness etc.. If you think about Helldivers for example, there is more leverage on the devs opinions and decisions because overall they are without a group of investors and major shareholders to appease and appeal to. Their Tracxn score says a lot in that regard. GW is not independent. Their hands are therefore considerably more tied when Blackrock wants them to ameliorate public perception in the social medias (which are dominated by those who scream the loudest, meaning left wing and right wing nutjobs, although the lefties outweigh, because they got more time on their hands to worry about social justice, etc) thus making this clusterfuck happen. In the end it's just "business". This whole endeavor is seen by both sides as little more than a pricey current-political acceptance campaign and GW will never make female custodian figures, because they know damn well those won't sell. It's just that they're going along with it because they chose the path of least resistance. Fans are still gonna buy minis and blow years of salaries on their lore, so why worry.
Does Anyone else think that this recent change might be a petty and direct attack on Henry Cavill by Amazon. It was not long ago that Cavill walked away from The Witcher and it crumbled. Could this all not be revenge? It's the army that he collects, he walked away from a programme because it wasn't true to the Lore. Now Amazon has changed something that was personal to him. My sister-in-law’s brother who is a pretty big Warhammer 40k fan pointed out that Games work shop has two characters who could have actually created female space marines and custodians, these being Cawl and Byle. Now I don’t think their needed when you have the sisters of battle and silence, but as he pointed out games work shop should have had one of or both characters make women marines/custodians instead of just saying “oh they always existed.” Its just insulting to the fans.

When GW pulled "Astartes" the video from being free, I was left with disappointment. This only gets worse with GW. I had only begun my embrace of the genre, now I turn my back on it.
I rejected GW a few years before that happened. I ALMOST came back when I saw those videos. I was hesitant and then found out GW pulled them. Screw that company.
Many people got into Warhammer others got convinced to try due to Henry and now they ruined it. Basically they lost new and old customers.
They forced the stoppage of "If the Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device" on KZhead, a popular parody of the entire setting. The guy who made it moved on to World of Darkness by parodying Hunter: The Reckoning.

And the gaslighting from GW about 37 years worth of very specific male only custodians and space, marines lore, that has been reiterated through nine additions, and countless source material is the problem. The fact the games workshop is willing to alienate a very large portion of their fanbase, and lose billions of dollars worth of sales, to push a DEI agenda, shows just how much the influence of, Vanguard and black rock buying up 11.6% of the GW stock really was.

I mean aren't ttrpgs mase by players? When I played the game had like a template of sorts, it explained many things but the format was always the same, the players then crafted their stories using that, I think it was the same with warhammer, it was the players who made the stories and there were like fan version with new characters and such, the companies essentially survived out of the player's creativity so the players who essentially build and add to the game can very easily just make a new IP, are these companies clinically insane, removing that which is sustaining you is utter insanity.

They won't go broke. They are doing a simple dialectic process. You smash to opposite viewpoints into each other and find a middle ground. I am done with warhammer as a whole. I had 4 large armies. Orks, Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Knights and Custodes. I have now sold what I could and will burn the rest. I threw out all my citadel paints and accessories. All the codexes and books. I have spent thousands over the years on this hobby and will not spend another dime on their products. I feel sorry for Henry Cavill. He doesn't deserve this as any other hard core fan. They want to bend the knee to Amazon... fine. They can also live without my support and that of any of my fellow warhammer players. We are all done.
