  • Oregon is arguably the most beautiful state in the nation. you will not find a coastline so beautiful as the Oregon coastline anywhere else in the U.S.

  • You got to FEEL the pulse of Oregon coast adventures! I was surprised you didn't highlight the Massive Sand Dunes near Florence, OR? But you did find many of Oregon's treasures. When my oldest daughter was inn 7-8th grade she did a journal and Highlighted the fact that we went to the Beach every weekend for two nights for 11 straight weekends! So yes we explored every little pull-off, enjoyed many sunsets and tidepools... plus found our favorite foods. So much to see, so little time! Very happy you made it to Oregon!

We are getting ready to leave Idaho on Monday and traveling to northern California up the Oregon and Washington coast into Canada down northern Idaho to glacier And then back home to Southern Idaho. Taking our time. This will be a 5 week adventure! I have to ask how do you like your pulse RV? We've been looking around and I really liked you're rigged and was curious if you've ever had any problems with it?

Thanks for asking people to respect the wildlife, especially that little harbor seal (they are sweet & skittish). And sea lions can hurt you. I used to have to scare them off of our docks. Oh man, the pee bucket overflowing - ugh. Happened with our NaturesHeads (2 on boat, 1 in RV). We switched to a ThinkTank on the new trailer. Anyway, I loved this video!

  • I spent the last 3 months on the Central Oregon Coast in an RV. The temperature was in the mid-50s at night to the low-60s during the day - every single day. That was weird. I had no use for heating or air conditioning. It was nice. I came back home to the Willamette Valley today because it finally cooled off here. That's just across the Coast Range Mountains. I stayed overnight only where I could do it for free with no hassles. Elizabeth Street in Newport is a good place. It's right above the beach with big motels on both sides. Between Newport and Depot Bay is Moolack Inn. Within a 1/4 mile north of there are 2 large parking areas on cliffs overlooking the ocean. I spoke with Park Rangers, and they told me about those parking lots. They said that people can stay as long as they want without restrictions. They are on State Highway right-of-way. The right-of-way goes all the way down to high tide. About a mile north of Depot Bay is Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint. Parking is permitted overnight with a 12-hour maximum. If you stay a little longer than that, they don't care. Tourism is big in this area. The authorities do not hassle people who look like tourists. What they do, is they hassle people who look like troublemakers. I have seen them root out troublemakers a few times, and it's a beautiful thing. They use a very soft touch. They talk with them for about an hour while cops at the cop shop run their complete criminal history, very slowly. The cops could probably do it themselves, but this way it's more intimidating. When the cops at the cop shop find something interesting, they broadcast it over the police radios at high volume for everyone to hear. lol. It has been my experience that when I treat the authorities kindly, they are very helpful. I start conversations with them, and then ask them where the free overnight places are. I don't need to pay $40 a night when I am in a self-contained RV. The best place to get water is south of Newport at Ona Beach.

      @EatSeeRV@EatSeeRV Жыл бұрын
  • I'm a native Oregonian. All of the geologists in Oregon know that we are overdue by a few decades for "The Big One". The geological record shows that they have happened about every 300 years, and it has been 322 years since the last one. It happened in 1700. The Pacific Plate meets the North American plate about 200 miles offshore. It is called the Cascadia Subduction Zone. When it snaps, it will send a tsunami onto the Oregon Coast. There will be about a 20-minute warning. Geologists generally agree that almost every bridge up to about 60 miles inland will be destroyed. Survivors will be trapped where they are. There are many videos on KZhead about this. I think that it is absolutely insane that anyone lives along the Oregon Coast. There are hundreds of houses just above high tide, and they will all be swept away. Conservative estimates are for a series of tsunamis about 10-20 feet high. Many of the cities are on bluffs just above the beach, and the huge volume of water behind the surges will push that water up over 100 feet. Tsunami warning signs along highway-101 are set at 100 feet, but that is likely not high enough in some areas. A lot of people are going to die. The road system won't be restored for a long, long time. If they put this in the headlines every day, people would be leaving the coast in droves... but that's not good for business. The realtors are still making money. The land developers are still making money. It is a tourist area. That's the kind of news that can crash an economy.

  • We're confused about your comment regarding travel on 101 being limited to vehicles 30 feet and less. The highway is traveled constantly by truckers, long class A's, and long travel trailers day and night. A little challenging compared to Interstate 5 but more than worth the challenge.

    • As I recall, that is a short stretch near the California/Oregon border. I have been through there, and there are some very tight curves on cliffs. It's scary.

    • Thanks. I saw that name in your video but it was not clear to me. I see the references to Tillicum but didn’t know that was the name of the RV park, city, etc…

  • Those were not “wild” blackberries. Real wild blackberries are much smaller and 10x more flavorful!!

    • Not sure what you mean? If you're speaking of driving on the highway, we pull off as we're supposed to which makes roads like that all the more stressful.
