The Epic Moab Trail You Probably Don't Know About
If you're looking for an exciting Jeep off-roading adventure in Moab, look no further than the Seven Mile Rim Trail! This 14-mile trail will take you about 4 hours to navigate, but trust us, you'll want to stop several times to take in the incredible views. While rated as moderate, there are some challenging optional lines you can take if you're feeling adventurous.
Starting with a steep rocky climb on a shelf road towards the top of the mesa, the terrain changes several times along the 13 miles, keeping you engaged throughout the trail. At the top of the climb, you'll be rewarded with an amazing view that stretches for miles in all directions.
Although we missed out on seeing the Uranium Arch by taking a bypass, we still had an amazing time on the trail. The terrain changed from dirt and bumpy rocks to smooth Moab slick rock for the next few miles, providing plenty of challenging obstacles.
In this video, join us as we take on the Seven Mile Rim Trail in our Jeep Wranglers. We didn't quite know what to expect, but we were blown away by the stunning views and challenging obstacles. Regina rocked the shit out of the 2 door, she looked like a pro 👍
😂 Thank you!
Cool to see Regena becoming a true wheeler. Atta girl.
She's having a blast and she's learned a lot these last few adventures!
Thank you! 😊
I love seeing you and your wife on these adventure Brad! It's nice to be able to have these type of experiences with your love ones especially out on these adventures.
I'm thankful that she enjoys being out with me and hopefully there are many more adventures to come!
Thank you! I enjoy getting to spend time with my husband out on the trail. It's the best!
“A day for ourselves “ and 535,000 subscribers! Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy the videos of you and your wife alot. Keep them coming.
Loving the Jeeps…
Very cool to see that raw emotion when Regena was descending over that obstacle.
Thank you! I was definitely a bit scared!
7 Mile is my wife’s favorite trail. We’ve done it every time we go to Moab. Monitor and Merrimack are awesome. And we always do lunch at the Uranium Arch. It’s a 7 hr trail if you keep going to Wipeout Hill.
I go to Moab a couple of times a year. 7Mile Rim is my favorite trail.
I have not missed a video for a long time now.. Worth watching.
Awesome Trail, wonderful Pictures and great Regina 👍 Greetings from Austria 🙋♂️
Nice. Regena did awesome on that drop. Omg, that’s steep, she had a right to be nervous. Thanks to this vid, I added this trail to my list to do in July when my girlfriend and I head down
Thank you!
Watching Regena hit that wheeling high when she cleared that obstacle was awesome!
Thank you! My heart was going a million miles an hour!
WTG, Regena!!!! You did a fantastic job handling the various obstacles. It is a real pleasure to see both of you out on the trails and sharing the adventure and having "spouse time". I can't wait to see more of your adventures, so until next time... Travel safe.
Thank you so much! ☺
Respect! I'd never be able to hit the trail after Huevos Rancheros.
😂😂😂
This was such a great video. More of this please!
Just put a 392 in that beautiful yellow Jeep and whoala... I wouldnt wanna be driving anything else in the rest of my life
Right?! 😆
@@regenakowitz yes, the lovely and the remarkable driver of her is unforgetable too. All the best to you guys, keep the rubber side down, good luck out there and cheers.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate both of you. Having a spouse that shares and supports you in your life’s pursuits is SO rare! At 65, I’m going the way I feel I must. You are so fortunate.
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
The next time you are on 7 mile rim, be sure to tie in Tusher Tunnel. It's a great lunch spot and very photogenic.
We did go, but went a few days later with the Jeep group and we didn't film it, just enjoyed it. 😊
This was the best moab video from that whole jeep safari week. Truly enjoyed it!! I would most definitely take my wife too!!
Thank you so much!
Love you two together. Nice video!
Did some of that trial as it is part of the Backwards Bill Trail. We saw the Jeep folks setup there for EJS near Whipout Hill - now that is an obstacle that has high scare factor. Great to see both of you out together and when my wife comes with me it is awesome like this year at EJS. If Regina keeps taking her Jeep on these harder trails I think the back bumper needs upgrading or it is going to get pummeled coming off ledges etc.
How fortunate the two of you can enjoy the trails together. Regina seems to be rocking it with you! WooHoo.
We're pretty lucky! Thank you! 😊
What a great video Brad. We definitely need more like this. The Jeep life is truly, a way of life.
Hi, never did the Seven Mile Rim but after riding along with I would definitely put this on my bucket list. My wife and I did our first Moab trip, with friends and family, in 2012. Then back in 2015, 2016 and 2018. For us Moab is a special place. Thank you for the video! Stay safe out there.
Thank you! Moab is a special place and worthy of returning to again and again!
Awesome Trail Brad thanks for bringing us along!!! Hats off to Gina for putting herself to the test!!! The trails are absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you!
Thank you!
That moment of going over an obstacle you’re questioning your original decision to is both exhilarating and creepy as all heck, but great to see you both out enjoying the trails and the moment, thanks for sharing!
so cool i wish we had the land mass and different terrain like this in New Zealand
Awesome!!! Trail Recon is always so informative and such a treat to see the beauty of the trails.
Thank you!
Good to see Regena out and about again, she is actually pretty awesome behind the wheel (you'll soon have some real competition there Brad!) and I hope it encourages more women to get out and do some tracks!
Thank you so much! It helps that I have a great teacher! 😊
@@regenakowitz it is always good to see slow careful thought out driving, he is a good teacher and great spotter, you can't go wrong with that. Your jeep doesn't look like it is any harder to drive on the tracks than Brads. 😁
God i love how you guys dominate the trails together!!! My wife and I have bean married over 30 years and we cant compete!! God bless you!
Thank you and congrats on 30 years of marriage!
Thank you so much! We are having fun and making up for lost time...Brad was deployed a lot during his 26 years in the Navy. And next month, we will hit our 29 year mark! Congrats on your 30 years!
Took my wife and her new JL to Moab a couple years ago. Went to Fins and Things and I made her drive while helped guide her. She had never driven off road before. Scared herself a couple times but she did great. We'll be back and I'll look to do this trail as well.
That was my first moderate trail! Brad led the way in his Jeep while I drove mine. He calmly talked me through everything on the radio, which was a massive help. He's the best teacher!
Off-road couple ❤️❤️❤️. Regina's Rubi look outstanding with those 392 wheels.
Thank you! I think I have the prettiest Jeep in the family!
yellow is not my fav color what so ever..... but man the two door jeep changed my mind, looks awesome!! great vid!
I’m definitely going to try that trail!
It’s such a treat to see Regena’s journey of learning her jeep and building her confidence. I enjoy the genuineness of how scary some of those trails are and that she isn’t afraid to show that growth. You got this girlie 🎉😊
Brad & Regena did it again ! Enormous trail + beautiful weather + meeting some Great people on the way = awesome adventure ...
It's one we won't soon forget! Thank you!
Thank you!
Looks like a lot of fun!
I can only dream of going on back country trails as having a Jeep or any 4x4 is too expensive for my budget. So I sit here and dream of going to the back country, especially Moab Utah. Glad to see your wife is all in and learning to drive those hard trails with you as her teacher. I'd want to learn from you as well. Great work.
You two are so much fun to watch! Keep up the fun!
Love both of your Jeeps. Big Silver, and Little Yellow Bee! Keep getting after it !
Thank you, hopefully many more adventures like this coming!
Thanks! Although my Jeep is the better looking of the two! 😉
I gotta tell you Brad, you hit the jackpot when you married Regena. Regena is super smart, remembering the names of the first two battleships and she drives a jeep better than a lot of men. What else can a man ever want in a wife.
Awwww...thank you! ☺
Great video. I love Moab. Brad - great job of capturing its beauty. Great job of driving Regena!! Very impressive:)
Thank you! We love Moab and it’s hard to get a bad shot there. Regena did a great job driving.
I have yet to finish the video (paused for this brief moment). I love Regena's input… somehow I just connect with her. She lets me know that it's okay for us (women) to build up a Jeep and go wheeling or overlanding. Plus the refinement of a nice camp and good cooking, come on!!!. Regena reassures us that it is okay to do this, I can't explain it. Thank you!!!! P.S. Can we get a gathering with Regena and Cara (Ozark Overlanding)??? Let's build a Barbie who goes overlanding in Joe's jeep… I did that in the 70's.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words! 🤗And there's absolutely nothing wrong with being comfortable so that you truly enjoy your off-grid experience. I mean...lighters are a relatively modern invention but I don't see many (any?) folks out there lighting their campfires by rubbing two sticks together. If there's something that's going to make my adventure more comfortable and enjoyable, and it's no trouble to bring it along, well, it's coming with. Just sayin'! 😊
I’ve done 7 Mile twice in a rental Jeep. Great views indeed at the canyon rim. Both times just a few rigs out there. Almost Had the place to ourselves. Uranium arch and the steep crawl in/ out make quite the pucker factor. The off camber turns can be a bit scary. Many people never heard of it, glad to see it getting some love.
I think I could of done that one in my Ranger, just challenging enough! Really enjoyed the ride along, incredible views!!
Looked like great fun! My wife joined me in the Ozarks a week ago - she drove solo in her JLUR 4xe the whole trail. She had so much fun and gained so much confidence! It’s great when she joins me on adventures. I may hit Moab this fall - you’ve given me a new trail to target (was thinking Poison Spider - but that rim trail looks way better).
You did great Regena, trail was excellent, a good choice for you newbies😎⭐️🤩🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks!
Beautiful trail. Can’t wait to go to Moab in May. Greetings and many blessings from Las Vegas, NV.
She did awesome! The camera never makes it look as scary as it is from inside.
Thank you! And no...what the camera shows and what your eyeballs see are vastly different things! 😂
So beautiful and looks like amazing fun! Way to go Regena!! 😋😎
Thank you! It was fun...scary at times, but totally fun!
These Moab vids have got me planning a couple of trips out there with my wife. She's not the trail driver Regena is, though she has driven my JL on some easier trails and a few water crossings. She's happy being the Co-Pilot and passenger princess. Thanks for sharing. Regena could start her own TrailRecon spin off! 😉✌
Moab is worth visiting many times, so much to see out there. Hope you both make some great memories out there!
Haha! Don't think I'm quite ready for that but I do appreciate your vote of confidence! I was good being passenger for a while, but then I realized Brad was having all the fun. 😊
Just caught this video. Glad you found 7 mile. Great trail. One of my favs. BUT... you seem to have missed Uranium arch and you missed wipeout hill!!! Now you have to go back. Lol.
This was an enjoyable video! Great scenery. Great narration. Great editing (I dare say outstanding!). Seeing Regena's expressions as she went down that obstacle. Being able to express what she was feeling while doing it was fun, exciting, and SO relatable! Great job on conquering that (and Top of the World the day before!). I'm sure her confidence has skyrocketed when it comes to those obstacles. But probably what hurt most was saying that Brad was probably right about lift and tires. LOL Either way, please keep these videos coming! We visited Moab last year for the first time after hiking Rim 2 Rim in Grand Canyon. We didn't have our Jeep, so we went with Epic 4x4 Adventures and drove a Kawasaki side by side. It was a blast, so seeing and talking about the trails we did brought back LOTS of fond memories from our trip last year! Thank you for all you both do! I have to admit, my wife and I love watching the adventures you get to do together as it provides different perspectives. But all these adventure videos are SO fun to watch!
What an awesome adventure! We cannot wait to take our Jeep out to Moab! You have inspired us to start our own channel :)
7MR is the first trail I did in Moab and is still one of my favorites.
I have realized its one I should have done a long time ago, we'll be back!
some day we hope to make it to Moab. I have been in the area some 30 years ago and loved the sceneries ever since. What a rad trail this is. Awesome job Regena! Great spotting Brad!
Hope you are able to get back there, it's such and incredible place and the trails are some of the best in the country.
Master Chief!!!! You didn't know about the Monitor and Merrimac?
Awesome! Going May 21st! That breakfast spot looks great.
Have fun on your trip and there is lots of great food on Moab!
Pasta Jays is another awesome place to eat! We eat there every time we're in Moab...several times! 😆
I like your playlist for background music.
So jealous, bro! Jim from Temecula! My brother and I plan on attending next year for sure! Awesome to see you two having a blast! Hope to see ya on the trail soon.
Well done folks, nice video. We are headed that way next month. Thanks.
Thank you and have fun out there!
Awesome work Regina, super proud of you getting after it. My wife and I will be out there later this year and she’s committed to bring her Jeep as well. Can’t wait for her to challenge herself like you did.
Thank you and hope you guys have a great time on your Moab trip!
Thank you so much! And tell your wife she's making a great decision! She's going to have so much fun! 🤗
Yes ma’am will do.
Fun video! The Mrs. and I will be in this area on moto's this weekend - it's one of our favorite rides
Have fun and be safe out there!
Great content Brad and Regina! Great way to start my Friday morning :) Making me wish I still lived out West. Here in NC there aren't very many trails open to public which is unfortunate.
When I have my girlfriend I wanna do the same thing like you man this program it’s really helpful we say hi from San Diego muy bueno
Great video guys!! love it...
Thank you!
Great video! Seven Mile Rim is one of my favorites in Moab!
Thank you and its now one of ours for sure!
Awesome video, loved the music. You guys are great together..
Thank you!
I did this trail at EJS in my JLU Rubicon in 33's. It was a great trail!
Was just there a few weeks ago, in the snow! You didn’t cover it, but I so wanted to see both your reactions to the “Horseshoe” off camber climb, right before wipeout hill 🤣. Too many swear words?? 😱🤭🤣 It’s an incredibly beautiful trail for sure. Glad you had a good time. Way to go Regina! 👏
Thank you! Do you mean the Rainbow? At least, that's what I heard everyone call it. And no...no swear words. I'm a former Sailor but my mom corrected that budding habit many, many years ago! 😂
Great video. She is fantastic.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Nice !
Hey brad! I stopped by said hi at overland expo in colorado last year. Happy to see you two do this trail! I took my wife, and her friend and husband on it for Thanksgiving couple years ago...we found it to be a fantastic ride like you two! However, when i read your title, I thought for sure you were going to be talking about the "Tippy Spot" an off camber (maybe 24/26 degrees?) section just after burnt toast (the section you drive through two rocks) we were so scared..we backed out. I am on 37"s. 2.5" lift in a JT and had a tent on top, the length of the JT helps, but being off camber and having turn and be so top heavy, it was scariest ive done. You two do that part or drive around? thanks!
It looks like a great place to camp at and take night Pictures.!!
Not sure there is camping on the trail, but plenty of areas nearby
My wife and I just got back from Moab UT and we did the seven mile rim which was awesome, but you missed some very fun things to see on that trail. You explained you missed uranium arch, after going between monitor and merrimac (which is amazing slickrock), then the squeeze between the two rocks (which you experienced), you did not talk about Wipeout HIll obstacle, hopefully you saw Determination Towers is in movies/commercials, you missed tushner tunnel, you missed the dinosaur Bones, portions of the trail are very sandy which is nice, a portion of the trail has water from a nearby spring, I think you missed a lot. In the AllTrails app, the trail is known also known as Monitor and Merrimac trail. I enjoy your videos, hope you keep doing them - any comments?
Glad you guys had a great time. We actually went to wipe out hill and tusher tunnel the following day with another group. There are lots of great places to explore in the area, but technically Wipe Out hill is its own trail and are not officially part of the Seven Mile Rim route. Thanks for your comment.
The Bronco had a broken front end.
Someone type up a SOQ package for Regina. With that kind of naval history knowledge she’s a shoe in 😂
LOL!
😂 Unfair advantage having been a Navy public affairs officer and someone who just loves history!
What lift and shocks are on the JK. New subscriber. Love your videos.
👍👍
About WHY the Merrimack and the Monitor. There is a point on the trail you can stand between them both. The shape of the rocks where they face each other look like the bows of two ships. Yes, it does take a little imagination, but you can definitely see them as ships heading your way.
Cool! Thank you for pointing that out.
Love seeing the 2 door. Regina if you could drive just one jeep in Moab would it be a 2 or 4 door Wrangler and why? Thanks
The Bronco looked toed in, may have broken a tie rod…😢
If someone ends up scared but you are able to drive out under your own steam at the end of the day, I will call that a successful adventure!
How would you rate the level of mods to the two jeeps, 1 - 10. What is next for the 4 door for upgrades? Keep up the nice work.
I am so glad to see you guys doing the hard trails now. I’m really happy that Regina is doing them also! Maybe she will get the bug too. I did notice in this video you said you used to be a bronco owner. I noticed you said that about the power wagon in a different video. So I guess the bronco and power wagon are gone. I missed where Regina got terrified. Did I miss something?
I've always enjoyed a challenge! She was pretty scared during that last big drop where you can see me spotting her... just listen to her voice!
That last decline was pretty harrowing! I think Brad edited out my squealing! 😂
@@regenakowitz That's funny! 😂😂
You have that JK looking right!!!
Thank you!
Are there by passes on those harder step up section?
I'm curious as to what type of set-up you have regarding your spare tire ? Do you hear any shaking or rattling ... would you do anything different as far as location or hardware ? Happy Trails and safe travels .....
Hi Brad and Regina, I am heading out there with my wife and was thinking of this trail BUT we both HATE shelf roads. How bad was the shelf road part? Is the trail out and back? If so how long did you take out and back? Thanks for the videos!
It was an out and back, at least the way we did it, and the time we took to do the trail doesn't equate to the way most people will do it...we were filming so it took as a lot longer than it would take the average person. And the shelf road was not too bad, just at the beginning and nothing crazy. Brad and I both hate shelf roads too, so I get it!
Brad, what 37” tires are you currently running on the 392?
you missed so much on that trail, like you said the arch, then there is a cave to walk through and there is a cool sand dune to play on..
We love your channel. Where can I find Regeenas recipe for chicken nuggets? Getting new recipes together for this summer camping.
Thank you! She has posted several recipes on our blog and more to come: trailrecon.com/blog.asp
And the Panko Chicken Nuggets are one of the recipes I've posted on the blog! 😊
Great video! What's that song you're playing around the 4 to 5 minute mark? Great tune, but couldn't get a result on Shazam for it.
Thanks! I use licensed music from musicbed to avoid copyright strikes, so you usually won't find them Shazam or Spotify.
What happened to the stinger head unit?
Could a stock Ram 1500 Rebel or stock F-150 Tremor manage 14-mile trail?
Brad, how are you attaching the state flags to your roof?
Great job Regina. Hey Brad what fenders do you have on your rig?
Poison Spyder: kzhead.info/sun/jNGYZ6aGooKPdWw/bejne.html
Thanks!
Hey Brad, why no light bars on your other Jeeps?
So honest question. Given two outfitted jeeps…only differences being that one is a two door (shorter wheel base) and the four door longer wheel base) which one is better suited for off road trail and moderate rock crawling. Thanks, David from Texas.
IMHO, 2 door
There is no right answer here, both have their pros and cons. On this rail, with the steep climbs and decent a longer wheelbase (generally) has the advantage. In tight techies sections a 2 door is better suited. I prefer a longer wheelbase... that's just me.
IMO, At Moab wheel base is king. On the Rubicon short wheel base works
