    • Dankisimo It’s a cover of the song with the original artist. Dolly Parton doesn’t have a relationship with a man who a girl called Jolene might take away, that’s not pandering. Country music isn’t just for farmers in the deep south to sing, you know.

    • Tod Reynard Like I said I should have known better. It's just that I didn't care much for Bangerz. And it just came back to my attention a few months ago of their offscreen relationship. It's just that Miley's bad Girl transformation wasn't there for me. If I had watched the final season of Hannah Montana, Bangerz would have been less painful for me to watch. But the past is in the past and what's done is done.

Even her pop songs have always been a cut above the rest, there’s an inherent sincerity to her. Even her crazy phase of 2013-2015 resulted in some half decent modern pop songs.

Dolly’s songs and performance are so fresh, and witty, and have this haunting timelessness. I hope that Miley picks up on the power of Dolly’s soul and learns about herself from it.

  • Watched this after watching Miley Cirus singing this in the backyard sessions, and these two occasions are the only two when I have ever listened to Miley Cirus. But she seems to have a massive following and also to be controversial, so I thought I'd investigate. I have read that she cannot sing. That is incorrect. She is perfectly in tune and hits all her cues precisely. No problems there. Her voice is not the strongest I have ever heard (not as strong as Dolly Parton's for instance) but it's better than a lot of young singers around today. She has also proved here that she can sing harmonies, which are not easy to do. All in all, I'm pretty impressed, and would not be likely to turn off one of her records if I heard it playing. And that is more than I'm prepared to say about a lot of her contemporaries.

    • Damn right. That's exactly my reaction. I'm not a fan by any means, I didn't listen to her songs, etc.. First thing I've listened to was Jolene in the Backyard Sessions because a friend of mine was watching the video. I was blown away by the lyrics and the music. It felt it had a very... 70ish vibe and emotion. I was like "Wow!" and the performance was pretty cool. I digged more and it turned out it actually is a 70ish song (Sorry for not knowing that. I'm more a Warren Zevon and Rolling Stones guy, so I should've heard about Parton). So I listened to her reprise of Summertime Sadness (I didn't know it was done by another artist, either.. Not really up to date as to what's going on these days).. And it was impressive, too.. So I'm definitely with you. She had a lot of bad press apparently, but at least she can sing and a do a pretty darn good job.

Also allow me to explain a couple of lyrics from We Can't Stop. 1: "Dancing With Molly" Molly is a from of a drug called Extacy. A lot of people thought she was saying dancing with Miley but even she admitted it's about Molly. 2: "Trying To Get A Line In The Bathroom" Do you seriously think she means a phone line? She is talking about Cocaine. She used to be a good role model when she was on Hannah Montana but now is just a drug addicted fame whore.

      @michellesupport89@michellesupport8910 жыл бұрын
    • Scott Zaccagnini your "trying to get a line in the bathroom" point is no proof for nor against. because "and everyone in line in the bathroom, trying to get a line in the bathroom" are together. She could be singing about other people, in a line to the bathroom, trying to get a line in the bathroom. Using drugs is not parallel to being addicted to drugs, please check you're not a moron before calling someone else a moron. Any cigarette is a drug, coffee is a drug (if coffee would have been found in the 21st century it would have been banned all around the world), just like marijuana and other things. The only reason people feel it's a bad thing is because the word "drug" is used with cocaine, (other similar BAD drugs). If she smokes mari only at parties, or even regularly, it's not a big deal when comparing to other drugs like coke. And what she smokes isn't the cause of her "special" behaviour, she's still the same person outside of the media. PS. extacy, is kinda bad, but that is a party drug, not an on stage drug, not a walking down the street drug. Her party persona isn't the real her, no person is themselves at a party anyways.

    • Kynario It depends. People say the same about swifty, but some of her newest stuff is genuinely good, some of it is shit though. Remember pop is where the biggest audience is!
