For Britney Spears’ 39th birthday, ET is looking back at interviews with the singer during her ‘In The Zone’ album cycle. Only ET was invited as Britney prepared for her 2003 ABC special and 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour. Spears, who had just turned 21 after the release of ‘In The Zone,’ opens up in a series of interviews about growing up in the spotlight, her inspirations for her fourth album and how she was in talks to be a Bond girl after her spy-inspired ‘Toxic’ music video.

I don't care what plastic surgery you get..you aren't gonna make your neck shorter and fatter and also her teeth are completely different now. You think I'm crazy..but go compare her pictures from back then to now..different person.

After so much controlling, she lost herself along the way, what we see now is a woman close to her 40's acting like a child, and it's not her fault. They did not allowed her to grow up as a woman. Just imagine being 39 and still ask someone for permission to do the things that you want to do, it's heartbreaking that she's going through this since 2008.

  • I love her so much. She was always so confident, so happy and bubbly. The conservatorship and all of that control has taken that away from her. She is one of the strongest women I've ever seen. Praying and hoping that this c-ship ends next year because enough is enough. People need to speak up for her and continue to be loud because right now she has no voice. They have silenced her.

  • The media, her father, her own family, the cship killed her soul literally they suck the life out of her .. destroyed her.. she used to be full of energy, charming, charismatic and funny. She’s very iconic for a reason. Hopefully she gets her freedom back as she’s almost 40 now. This woman didn’t get the chance to live normally or act normally. In the end she’s a human.. people need only to appreciate her and appreciate how gifted, talented she is .. forever the pop Princess ❤️ #freebritney

  • I love her, but go watch any of her interviews post-2007 and it’s like a totally different person. She was so bright, expressive, and full of energy here-just having fun & really enjoying herself at work and when doing interviews. Of course, as a fan, I’m familiar with her entire life story and what lead to her becoming the reserved, uncomfortable, and perpetually nervous person she is now, and I *completely* understand and empathize as a person who’s had numerous mental breakdowns. You eventually get to a point where you completely lose sight of that happy & passionate person you once were, so much so that it almost seems like that part of you was a friend you’re no longer in contact with, a distant memory... and the shell of yourself becomes the new normal. Fame really does come at a price.

  • She was such a visionary and bold in her choices... Women of powee weren't a thing back then... (I mean in mainstream stuff) it wasn't like today, they wouldn't put women as the face of a movies or TV Shows or if they did it wasn't talked about yet today it really changed, they push women to love each other and feel some power in themselves (which is great) but damn Brit was ahead of everyone again. It's insane how smart she is, I wish she can come back one day and change the world again!

  • She seemed to have more of a voice here than now. Even with social media where we have instant access to celebrities there's like a disconnect with Britney now.. she's so muted and you can tell she looks around for approval as to what she can and can not do during recent interviews. Everything is too controlled! It's the same thing she said in her first documentary. "Where's the excitement?"

  • Britney has been my idol. What I've noticed about her, her face, is so unique comparing to other women/celebrities. It;s not this or that, she has a mix of facial features. For example, her nose is not big but not small... it's not round but it's not sharp. Actually it's round but you can still see some sharpy points! lol dunno if that makes sense!
