I have a 2002 w 163ML 270cdi easily one of the best cars I have owned , Love it !
10:10 When we had an 2004 ML 270 back in the UK, in the middle of the night, my dad pulled over to a service station. My mom and dad slept at the front of the car sitting up, when me and my two brothers slept at the back with the seats folded down. Great car!
Out of my fleet of Vehicles- my 1998 ML 320 is my favorite one to Drive. Its so fun- and handles superbly.
I own a 2005 ML500 special edition for about 10 years now and dollar for dollar its the best car on the road today. its Safe, Powerful, Capable.
Bought my ML320 in December 12, 2000. Still running strong with only 57,000 miles on it. Only changed fuel pump once.

i have been a big fan of the m class, the first time i saw them in jurassic park i told my self that i wanted one, i had a 2009 ml witch was total, then i got a good bargin on a 2005' dub special edition, i love it. much tougher than the w 164, plus this one didnt had the off road pkg. i use it for firefighting in guatemala. love my ml
i wish they came with those lower plastic body panels. i kinda like how that looked. i have a 02 ML320. it's a great truck and has treated me well.

my ml350 w163 has only 54k miles and i can tell its one of the best chasis truck suv from mercedes benz well made very similar to the g wagon, 2017 still love this classic truck

My 2000 ML55 just turned 153000 miles. I love her...
Oil leaks ... I put $12000 into her . If I feel like getting dirty I work on her myself. This is the first Benz that i have for not than a year. Every part of that car was hand picked. From the VDO speed controller to the ZF transfer case , the relays are Lucas. And i don’t drive like a grandma. I run her in the canyons. The 4matic is and the suspension is icing on the cake.

And so your heart doesn’t strain too much , When I bought her I spent $13000.00 U.S Dollars, not pesos. To take care of those oil leaks. You probably think I take my ride to Jiffy lube. She wasn’t my first Benz...

Weren’t the early W163 MLs prone to rollover? I know they had a lot of quality issues with the ML at their new Alabama factory.
Why are the bumper panel gaps so large, even on production models?
My first ML350 was a 2010 Bluetec, which I do regret selling and will have to buy another. My second ML was a 2006 average ML350, didn't like it much. Now, I currently own a 2001 ML 55 AMG and love it. It doesn't top the 2010Blutec V6 turbo diesel but, it is better than the average 2006. Mpg is 11-13 on the AMG, which makes the 2010 Bluetec a superior choice, compared to any s.u.v. I was getting 22-27 mpg and with over 420 horsepower. The most quietest and environmentally friendly diesel!

@@Shadowcu123 I had over $9000 in warranty repairs on my 2001 ML430 (thank you, extended warranty!). Then the trans failed at 98,000 miles. Once I got past the first several years, it got pretty reliable for some reason. Still have it. Still is like a tank.

Me too. It's fully loaded and everything still works on it to a charm. Not to mention underneath the car is very dry and clean even with 220,000 miles on it. It has been extremely well maintained with new U-Joints, new radiator, starter, both motor mounts and the flex packs on the drive shaft. Unreal how awesome this car still is. It'll probably go for 500,000 if I keep using the synthetic oil.

My 1998 ML 320 is still going strong in 2019. Its has amazing durability. They must be built to last.
Thank you for posting this as I would like to know the roots of the rest of the MB line. Does anyone know what year it is from 2:24-2:42? The earliest dated image of the W163 I have seen is an image from July 1994 in a German patent filing, but that doesn't mean the design was frozen then. Was the design approved in 1993 or early 1994? I did see a date of June 1993 on one of the competition sketches.

@1:05 that side profile was completely ripped off for the 2012 Holden Colorado 7, Holden TrailBlazer, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Isuzu MU-X, particularly the C-pillar. Shameless GM design stealing.
