It delights me to say that until this very moment, I had never heard of Dark Academia before; It certainly amazes me greatly how everytime I watch a new video by Vintagebursche I get to learn something new about style, tailoring and history. Well done Sir, as a university student, I greatly appreciate your interpretation of different departments, and I can perfectly see a partial reflection of myself in the portrayal of the ideal literature scholar (although far from being ideal in my case). Keep it up with your channel, einwandfrei wie immer!
Nor me. This gentleman is very informative and his videos are very well produced!
YESS the professor aspect of Dark Academia is the best, in my own biased opinion. 😁 When I tell you I have probably never clicked a video so fast..
you rock
Omg! One incredible KZhead producer who always inspires me, Ms. Bernadette Banner, watching the KZhead channel of another another KZhead creator who never fails to inspire me! I am in awe of present company!
I liked it when the tailor in another period referred to it as "Ivy" as an aesthetic
As a tweed wearing history teacher/educator... I concur!
We all know you're secretly a librarian in 1902, Bernadette.
I don’t know how much time I heard “I wish I was in that era of history, so I could dress like them” I always respond “Who said you have to be in that era to dress like that ?” They always look at me weirdly, personally I am someone who dress like a pirate, I try being the most historically accurate in my outfits.
I agree with you tbh and I don't find you weird at all, i love how you think🤍
Not to mention, most people born in that era didn't dress like that on a daily basis. Even their Sunday clothes probably did not look this well tailored. My grandfather was born in 1920, he was a factory worker, his father and grandfather were miners. The very few pictures I have of them aren't as stylish as what people picture when they think Victorian or Edwardian era.
@@ptolemy2222 Because they were factory workers and miners, whereas any middle class professional in the 1920s would have dressed as VB does.
I remember catching one of your old Livestreams, and immediately thought of your style as "German philosophy professor"... And it's come around again. Lol!
True . Me too
Could you imagine attending a history lecture in an historic wood panelled lecture room and this gentleman walking in to give the lecture! How cool that'd be.
This has been one of my pandemic goals... I'm am a research scientist in a university electrical engineering department, and I have been slowly moving my wardrobe in this direction. Most comfortable in dark and earth tones, yes. Prefer to have a more refined look in public, yes. Love learning about the history of everything, yes. Disgusted by academic snobbery, yup. Social awkwardness, absolutely. Writing a book, does my PhD thesis count? However, thus far my lack of tweed is disturbing...
Yes, it counts, it counts so very much.
THIS CHANNEL IS SO UNDERRATED
This video is absolutely perfect in every way. I love the shift from student to mature professor. As someone in the early stages of building a "light academia" wardrobe (elevator pitch: "if Aziraphale from Good Omens was a 17th century lady, but still wore trousers"), the emphasis on older styles is much appreciated. I love to see your take on this! I wonder what your archaeology professor would look like! If I had one niggling nit to pick, it is that Greek men do not wear togas - at least in the period of their own dominion. Togas are Roman and a mark specifically of Roman citizenship.
Duly noted the toga issue
They wore chitons, didn't they?
I know this comment is a year old, but have you seen Nicole Rudolph's Victorian Aziraphale cosplay?
@@DeadNotSleeping789 Yes!! 😍
Reading a book about the scientists working on the physics and chemistry of the atomic bomb (from 1900-1930s), this is the clothing style I imagine Bohr, Heisenberg and Pauli to have worn when they became proffesors! It's great how the video now gives substantial images to the imagination!
hey, can you tell me the book's title?
Me, history bounder and an actual physics researcher during normal working day at the lab: fishtail trousers, button up shirt and maybe waistcoat if it's cold outside.
Me on my way over from Bernadette ready to be taught by a fashionably dressed professor: 🏃🏻♀️✨
I really love this. When it comes to aesthetics, it seems like sometimes people can fall into cliches and copying, especially if they aren’t super-confident about their personal style yet (Definitely been there myself, so no shade) . This was a great example of taking the theme/idea and adapting it for oneself.
These videos are getting more and more high-production every post. At this point, it feels less like a one thousand subscriber channel and more like a big time music video or something. As a note, I like the break on your trousers. I much prefer little to no break. I find trousers that are a bit short far superior to too long.
Beautifully shot and scripted video! The outfits are great, too, but the cinematography was superb, and someone needs to mention it. Wonderful video!
what a wonderful surprise on a cloudy, misty morning. Looking impeccable as always!
Steampunk/dark academia/Edwardian work clothes and "everyday" 3 piece suits are my favorite. Kind of spooky, very elegant, but not too delicate.
A great POV of dark academia. I really enjoyed this video and would love a resurgence of the suit in everyday life. So elegant.
Hell yeah! As a mechatronics student I always miss any engineering aspects in dark academia despite loving the general aesthetic. Love to see it represented!
As #teambiology I feel you! Seeing our sciences represented in DA is wonderful to see
Brilliant!. Although too old to carry off the regular student-ey dark academia aesthetic I still love it, and so have also chosen the professor take on this, together with my love of the 1890s-1940s era, this exactly fits my vibe, thank you for posting this 😀😀😀.
The engineering outfit - (but really all the outfits) if I saw you in the street I would frankly, gasp, and go back home and wonder if I met the ghost of my dreams. You are the king of men’s fashion to me!
Loved the math professor outfit. The texture of your suit adds so much in a subtle manner and I love the weight that it gives to the outfit. Your taste in shoes is on point as always. I would say that look wouldn't be too out of place if you were to wear that around today. The glasses were a perfect compliment. Bravo.
Amazing video ! Dark Academia and vintage meanswear have always been two of my favorite things! Thank you again for a wonderful video. Greetings from France !
the cinematics... I am totally Invested!
Love your interpretation, dapper as per.
Beautiful video!
I love this video! Very well done
That knitted sweater vest 🙌
This is excellent!
Great job!
Amazing! ❤️
This was absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful video!! I’ve always been interested in menswear and the tailoring of it all
Absolute perfection✨
Absolutely the best video you've made. Ausgezeichnet!
I think your videos are fabulous; thank you !!
I love the concept for this video. The aesthetic is simply incredible. Well done!
Wow, such great work sir, and your outfits are classy and fabulous
Vintagebursche videos are so beautiful -- visually and sonically! Great job!
I just learned about your channel and I’m so happy I did! Wonderful content. 😊
Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Brazil!
Awesome!!
Perfect for a Saturday morning.
Wonderful, hitting me right in the aesthetic
It simply beautiful, as always 😊
tie trinkets!!! i adore all of these but especially the math
Thank you for sharing not only your fantastic styles, but also the awesome locations. This was so well done.
An excellent video in truly every possible way!
Very well made, thank you for your time and effort in making this.
loved this^^. Also Kudos for filming the engineering part at Phantasialand.
Great Video and as always a treat for the eye :)
Amazing pieces of clothing and amazing aesthetic 🤩
I'm a woman. I wish more men were like you. Smart, mature, and with great style. You are a true gentleman👏
I love how you presented every outfit in a different setting! I hope to make a vintage men's suit soon, and you are giving me a lot of good inspiration and ideas.
At this the week waiting some video of this channel... Thanks again!
I'd never heard of 'Dark Academia' before. I liked this short film (being an academic myself). Not sure you'll get far in academia reading those mirror-image books though!
😁
thanks for this! im a cybersecurity major and have fallen IN LOVE with this style recently, especially because it’s surprisingly easy to thrift (especially in a big city like mine.) can’t wait to out these concepts together and keep curating my own style!
I love the textures of all of these looks, you truly hit the nail on the head with this DA Professor look! The waistcoat with the buttons in a V shape is amazing too!
this video is so expertly put together, i love it. it's so gorgeous in concept and in execution
This video is superbly perfect in every respect.
This could be your best vieo yet! I have two questions: Where did you buy the Maths Professor's suit, and what is the music which starts with the Engineering Professor? I am sudying engineering, and I definitely think that it is compatible with dark academia. Paricularly steam railways, early electrical equipment, early cinematic equipment, anything clockwork etc.
And all the maddening calculations and a desk full of electrical wiring that may or may not be connected to something 🤣
The music is so Viennese.
The cinematography in this is gorgeous! And the love the waistcoat at the start with V shaped buttons.
I liked this video; it was fun to watch! Good work fellow!
So wonderful to have found you, introduced by Bernadette!
This is, like, the best video to have ever graced the internet Amazing
Thank you for the episode and for the channel. I like your calm style and always try to keep in balance my exposure to you and GG.
Love the mention of Imitation Game costumes
Wonderful video. I even recognized some of the places where you filmed. Loved all your wardrobe choices, especially the math professer. A Beautiful Mind is also one of my favourite movies.
I love this video so much ❤️
This is one of the most thought-thru stylish vids I’ve come across 👌👌👌 Sheer beauty, harmonius balance between filming, outfits & backdrops. Thank you for this masterpiece 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It was so much fun to guess which department you were dressing for. Thanks so much 'professor' for giving us a look at DA for us of a less student age. Take care.
This was a really well-made and enjoyable video! And it is so hard to come by STEM Dark Academia, so I really apprecate it. Thank you!
I love how everything used to be so formal, and look at us now its actually quite sad
What a beautifully crafted video! Just found you via Bernadette Banner‘s new video, and already in love (with that gorgeous First waiscoat with the buttons that line up to a V)
I’m totally in love with the V-buttoned waistcoat. What’s inside is not half bad either. Merry Christmas.
Lovely video!
I am a civil engineering professor but I never tried any classic attire like these. I am looking for try it one day like a German or a british academician. Proper attire fulls you with confidence. Thank you for inspiration.
Found this through your post on reddit, I'm happy to be a new subscriber!
Such a Masterpiece of a video put together, everything was perfect. All the angels, close ups of the environment and perfect matched with all your outfits. Loved it , brilliant and genius. I enjoy all your videos so far. New to your channel.
this is a perfect video.
I'm a fan of this guy
Ahh this is such a wonderful video! I love the combination of philosophical topics and historical aesthetics. Great work!
Oh. My. God. The TWEED! 🥰 Also I now have satchel envy. 😂 And a bonus clip of Castle Neuschwanstein, bringing back fond memories of a trip I took years ago. Thank you for taking the time to craft such an audiovisual feast.
In fact Ive written nine books. Although mostly ( until very recently ) science fiction. What I found interesting was I became familiar with Dark Academia after my stuff shifted more into a magical realistic direction with elements of Gothic Fiction. As a graphic designer I gravitate to muted reds, nordic greens, coffee colors, and off monochrome palette.
Wonderfully edited and put together, this video is a masterpiece 😊. Brilliant engineer segment, much appreciated by an engineer like myself. Also, I enjoyed The Theory Of Everything so much too!
I came here from Bernadette's channel after loving how articulate you were while tastefully roasting the Peaky Blinders costume and loved this video! Your videography definitely convinced me to subscribe😄 Can't wait to see more of you in the future!
As a music/theater teacher with a minor in German who sews vintage style clothing in my free time, this is the perfect blend of everything I love. Thank you for a beautiful video.
Wow. Beautiful video but more importantly, you own your style and that shows! You are so confident and at ease wearing these outfits. Very inspiring. Any chance for a winter outfits video? How to dress classic and vintage inspired when it is rainy and muddy outside and not break out the outdoor jackets? I am German myself and each year I get so frustrated at the Weihnachtsmarkt when everyone around me is dressed like they want to head into the mountains right away.
A Soul Trapped in Time
Wow, gerade ein Video von vor einem Jahr geschaut und jetzt dieses hier. Dein Englisch ... Uff was für eine Verbesserung 😍
Well done as usual. Regards, J.S.
I came from Bernadette's video with that entertaining roast of the Peaky Blinders costume! And I've got to say I'm already loving it here. 💕
None of my history tutors at university were quite so stylish (or good looking) as your good self. Had some of them been then I would have been enthralled by their lectures even more
Beautiful video and thank you for including the location names. Do wonder where the footage for the botany/zoology professor was taken? Beautiful flora. Would love to see you take on anthropology and/or archaeology professor looks - they could be quite irregular to accommodate field work in various locations/climates. Thank you for helping to steer dark academia back to the academics themselves and showing how classy those looks can be.
Hi! New subscriber here, found you through Bernadette Banners channel and I am so glad I did, great videos and I really love your style. Greetings from Finland, Johanna
I really like your take on dark academia! And i love your beard, i think it suits you very well. In combination with the different glasses and hats it works great for the "serious professor" look. I think i like the biology-prof best, but math is a close second place :)
I'm pretty sure you unintentionally did a perfect David Hilbert cosplay. Good job.
A great video idea; a way to calm a know it all attitude, and admit that your wrong, its a issue I have and it frustrates me.
I love this one. Make more DA videos pls. I am 25 too and too old for DA but you give me inspiration
I’m a mathematics major. I hope to be a professor one day. This lights me up.
Extra für die B-Roll shots ins Phantasialand gefahren? Nice!
