Being a mermaid is about so much more than just swimming in a mermaid tail, it is a way of life. It is a journey of discovering who you are and who your are meant to be and of sharing a passion for the water with others and forging friendships that will last a life time. It is about believing in yourself through the thick and thin and encouraging others to do the same.
Being a mermaid is about keeping that little spark alive, that little spark that reminds us that anything is possible with a monofin, some fabric and dream.

  • I used to be terrified of flips because I thought I would break my neck or something. The first time I ever did a flip was in water and it really helped me!! These videos are so good for people who need help with mermaiding

  • I think it is great how you mention your limitations( ie: arm, back mobility, etc.)because it shows that you are not letting those stop you, but rather, have learned to adapt and keep going. Brava Courtney for setting the example to keep swimming no matter what! 😊💙

  • YES A HOW TO SINK VIDEO! I know from scuba diving that breath controls your buoyancy, less air in the lungs, you sink... but how am I swimming across the pool on one breath without floating??????? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaalp! About to put my dive belt on...

    @teannabyerts1904@teannabyerts19045 жыл бұрын
    • Teanna Byerts I had a problem with that a first too. I just put my hands in front of me and dolphin kick while aiming towards the bottom of the pool. Then once you get to where you want to be just position your body horizontal and begin swimming forward.

    • Another thing we do in diving is wear a weight belt. If you can hide it somewhere, try to add a tiny bit of weight. Not too much, because that's dangerous, but a tiny bit might help you with sinking. That, and holding your breath is a skill, increasing your lung capacity, or even hyperventilating if you can do it safely, help.

    • I am not going to say all my old stretch pants are safe from getting cut up this summer, just hope they can get sewn up the right way since I don't have a lot of swim pants. 👉 so mad props for actually trying it. Do you have a monofin you are trying to fit it with?

So thank you for showing me a better way of how to do it. Also Shello from Jacksonville, FL!! 🏝🌊🌊🌊

  • Awesome video! The wall turn is new to me and I'm excited to try it in the summer! On the bubble rings. I live by the tongue method because I learned them side by side with my physicist partner who taught me the science behind the phenomenon of bubble rings and it made so much sense. My bubbles comes out so much clearer and more together and they go so so much further in the water. I'm glad they work well for you without the tongue. I would rather not use it and had to work around not making it look silly but I guess we are all different haha

I recently tried doing a back flip and I ended up just splashing about ( I looked like a fish out of water...Only I was in the water). lol. I tried like 6 times and I failed all 6 times. I will try what you said to do. Thank you so much!

  • First time I did a front flip was kinda weird but successful. I was swimming towards the other end of the pool and halfway I just thought, "Wonder if I can front flip?" and before I could even think or second guess myself I flung my head down and rotated my arms. Somehow I ended up doing it correctly. Now I'm not successful every time, once I didn't have enough momentum and flopped sideways, but just trying and not psyching yourself out is the first hurdle.

  • Didn't see Mermaid Echos link, maybe I missed it. And I don't think you're missing out on much with front flips. Out of the water, in like gymnastics or dance, sure they look awesome but in my opinion front flips in the water look awkward and not very graceful. I'd stick to other tricks like the back flips, bubble rings/ hearts, barrel/torpedo rolls and fin slaps. But that's just my opinion. 🧜‍♀️💦💜
