  • Purple - my favourite colour - I think. I've probably never seen real purple - the kind that comes from shellfish - the kind that roman senators striped their togas with and the kind that roman emporers and kings wore - but I'd really like to.

    • Tom Sachs. He's older than Casey. But Casey's brother, Van, has worked with Tom on several projects. So you can notice the shared inspiration

  • As much as I love Tom, it really has been rubbing me the wrong way how he very blatantly passes off vans work as his own. Ik ik ik ik van was working for hum but still, it took me a long time to figure out the reaction between the videography of Tom van and Casey, and both Tom and Casey still seem to pass his work, his style as their own, not even acknowledging how incredibly derivative it is of vans work

    @jpg9797@jpg9797 Жыл бұрын
    • Would say the opposite in regards to vans entire persona being a copy of toms. Even down to the organisation and layout of the neistat brothers' studios - carbon copy of Tom sachs

    • Van used to work for Tom, and acknowledges him as a mentor. In fact as someone pointed out here, both Van and Casey's studios look heavily inspired by Tom. Including the idea of Knolling that Tom used to follow from onset (he got it from a janitor).
