This is insane because not only are they speaking in multiple languages, they are also having a high-level, substantive discussion, unlike those street interviews which tend not to require an extensive vocabulary.

Found you through the interview on Steve’s channel. I’m blown away by your level in so many languages. At your age I was just about getting there in English (from a (Swiss) German native background). Although I’ve learned quite a bit in quite a few different languages in the decade+ since, I’m still not at your level in any foreign language other than English. What a motivation boost!

Hi :) I'm especially inspired by how you have learnt all these languages without traveling to the country! So I am curious to know when we learn a language by ourselves and wish to really learn and absorb a lot. Do you recommend that we work on one language at a time? I think I get easily overwhelmed then I end up trying to learn so many languages at the same time. Thank you, Iclal!

Çocukluğumdan beri yabancı dilleri öğrenmek istiyorum ve on beş yaşımda Türkçeye başladım. Şimdi Türkçe ile ilgili her şeyi seviyorum😅 Bir zamanlar Fransızca ile ilgili her şeyi sevdiğin gibi yani❤ İnşallah bir gün gerçek hayatta seninle tanışacağız ve farklı dillerde konuşarak pratik yapacağız diye hayaller kuruyorum😊

Except for Italian I understood all other languages just fine! I felt like a silent interlocutor of yours who went for a coffee break during the italian part haha. Well done both of you! Hallo Iclal und Steve :-)) Hab mich ins unermessliche gefreut euch beiden zuhören und zu sehen, tatsächlich hab ich damals, euch beiden in einem gemeinsamen Interview entdeckt und gehört :-)) Ihr seid beide inspirierend Persönlichkeiten :-))) Zu mir bin Marokkaner, allerdings spreche ich die deutsche Sprache deutlich besser, da ich in Deutschland aufgewachsen bin. Mein Englisch ist so limitiert und deshalb freue ich mich immer wieder euch zu hören. Ich wünsche euch beiden alles erdenkliche gute und nur weiter so wie bisher 🙋
Das ist sehr schön, ich lerne auch seit fast Drei Monaten Deutsch und habe bereits das Niveau B1 erreicht. Und ich denke dass, die Marokkanische Kultur ziemlich reichhaltig und faszinierenden ist und mein Freund ist ebenfalls Marokkaner. Liebe Grüße aus der Türkei.

Merhabalar İclal. Gerçekten ben birçok polyglotlar gördüm ama sinin gibi hiç görmedim. Yanı bir dillin okyup hem aksanlı hem akıcı konuşmak çok zordur. Fransızca ve İngilizce benim ana dillerimdir İnan ki senin kadar akıcı konuşamıyorum. Şimdi 1 haftadir spanolca öğreniyorum gerçekten beni motive ettin. Yolun açık olsun ❤
Hey iclal. I wanted to thank you for your videos. Seeing someone else near my age in language learning really motivates me :). There is something I wanted to have your opinion on. If you can spare the time I would be very happy. I am diagnosed with ADHD and up until now I studied with music in the background(slow and no vocal to be clear) but I have heard that listening to music while learning languages can really hinder my progres. What would you suggest someone in my situation to do?
Amazing and lovely video ❤. Steve Kauffman is a legendary, outstanding and wise polyglot because he always gives us his valuable tips for learning languages, I admire him so much. You're amazing too, you speak all those languages so well. I'd love to becoming a polyglot one day, but I know perfectly that it'll take a long time to do so. Learning languages is a long-term commitment because it's challenging but enjoyable as Steve usually says that the key is just enjoying the language learning journey regardless of the difficulties you might have during your progress. I barely speak two languages: English and Spanish and I would also like to get out of my comfort zone as soon as possible. I love learning English even though I've never had the chance to speak with English-speaking people in real life, that's kinda discouraging but I have to move on and not get frustrated. It's just a matter of chasing your dreams and fighting for your goals. I have in mind learning another eight languages which are relatively easy to pick up but I'm prioritizing English for now.

Felicitaciones Iclal. I am a Spanish native Speaker and language teacher trying to teach myself Turkish. Any tips or channels you could recommend? Also fluent in French and German but finding it much harder to progress beyond Duo Lingo with Turkish. I love the concept of Vowel harmony and find your language soo beautiful and musical.

Стив правильно, как мне кажется, замечает: с изучением первого языка приходит уверенность в том, что это возможно. Психологическая составляющая в изучении языков очень важна. И еще наверное важен культурный аспект. Людям в России или может быть в США изучение может даваться сложнее, т.к. они мало интересуются культурой других стран. Зачем им учить другие языки, когда есть такие хорошие русский и английский? Это мое личное мнение.
да, именно поэтому полиглоты могут говорить на так многих языках. после того, как мы изучим один язык, понимаем, что это возможно продолжить и изучать ещё новые языки. и так как мы уже знаем как правильнее изучать, нам все получается проще что касается интереса к культуре, я согласна, что это важный фактор. если человек хочет узнать больше о культуре и людях, будет более мотивирован без сомнения

Я думаю,во-первых должна быть память развита.Во-вторых,чувство музыкальности на слова.Т.е. в сумме это предрасположенность, помноженное на желание. У 19 летней девушки лучше с русским языком,чем у Стива!Видно,что он больше делал акцент на европейские языки.
Ho apprezzato molto la vostra conversazione, complimenti sorella parli molto bene italiano quanto al vostro invito che è anche bravo. Secondo me imparare una lingua straniera no è cosi difficile ma spesso usiamo il metodo sbagliato che è cominciare l'apprendimento con la grammatica. Sono totalmente d'accordo nel fatto che, se si vuole imparare una lingua si deve cominciare a leggerlo ed ascoltarlo più volte possibile prima della grammatica. Grazie molto, che la pace di Dio sia su di te.

İclal, I thought I was clever knowing 4 foreign languages at your age, but you've put me to shame with the quality and quantity of your languages. Keep up the good work! Steve, your breadth of linguistic knowledge is amazing, and you're inspiration to me (now that I'm in my mid-40s) not to hang up my language-learning hat (I'm thinking about starting Irish Gaelic).
