Allen seemed so happy to be back on his beloved Password.
Today's the 45th anniversary of this series, a fun fact to start the year of 2024
Allen had the greatest hair. Handsome man…great couple he and Betty..ended too soon.
Ludden was class, and passed just over two years after the debut.
In my opinion this was the best game show ever. Simple and funny. Mr Ludden was a class act.
Easily the best game show ever, if you enjoyed thinking.
Agreed. Music was sensational as well. Ludden was the best. He loved the show so much and it showed.
Wonder if Betty's ashes will ever be secretly interred with Alan?
@@mattalbrecht7471 What the hell ??
Elizabeth Montgomery was SO BEAUTIFUL! She left us much too soon.
I didn’t even recognize her with that hair. Wasn’t til she spoke that I realized it was her.
Who knew that Allen Ludden's wife Betty White would outlive him by 41 years.
I hope someday her ashes can be added to Alan's grave in Wisconsin
Ludden was fantastic. No wonder Betty White loved him.
There was nothing special about him
Allen Ludden was my Grandfather’s cousin.
Allen Ludden was an amazing guy!
He was Loved by his many many fans !❤️ Betty, never remarried ❤️
Nice! That also means Ur related by marriage to Betty White his widow.
Did anyone ever think that his widow Betty White would outlive him by more than 40 years ?
so -- he is also your cousin. He is your 1st cousin 2x removed. :-)
Allen Ludden will always be he best host of any Password version.
Worst host ever, made more mistakes then any host. Alan may have been a fine person, but he was a bad host !
@@peteypool Bert Convy anyone? lol
Btw-. They're hosts for chrissake. They're not there because they are going to set the world on fire. Bert Convy? Please clue me into the talents Mr Convy had over Mr Ludden. I'm on pins and needles. Yawn. (Btw- I know I'm being snarky, forgive my indulgence in that. BUT- if you want to see how hosting a show was done -WITH more ability, class, knowledge, and keeping any number of loud, drunk, obnoxious celebrities in line- the greatest was and always will be none other than- JOHN CHARLES DALY, the host of What's My Line, and the former president of ABC News.
True so sweet and adoring of Betty , kind and thoughtful! Loved his voice , such a gentleman!
@@peteypool you've never seen Bert Convey's stint? He was awful. This was Alan's show from the beginning
it's a shame that Bruce guy did not succeed in his pursuit of acting. He's very cute and likable.
That illegal clue sound was also used on Super Password, Child's Play, Body Language, Monopoly and an early episode of Cram
Years ago, I was driving through Fulton, Missouri with a friend, who pointed out a building where Winston Churchill once spoke. He couldn't remember Churchill's name, so he said, "You know, that guy who's always in the old pictures...wearing a hat?"
My fav, fav, fav Show!!!!!
That young guy is smart.
I actually saw this show the day it aired, 40 long years ago. Sylvia was one lovely lady.
she was
Would you have like to have done it with her? I mean play Password that is.
@@MrMatteNWk Sure... that too.
@@MrMatteNWk weirdo
Allen ludden was so funny he is so perfect password host loved him with all my heart always be in our hearts ♥️
I liked the addition of the plus to this game. Added a lot to the show as well as alphbetics!
😊
I like the way he says my name, Sylvia!
I must say that Alan has some stylish framed eyewear
I loved the NBC Claxon buzzer in the early episodes. Same tone used with Perry's "Card Sharks" & Trebek's "Classic Concentration".
6:19 Ahh... The first illegal clue.
6:19 said it all
I never thought "Would You Like To Do It?" came from the premiere episode
Also the "cigar" blunder.
Elizabeth Montgomery was married to Robert Foxworth from 1993 until her death.
But they lived together starting in 1973
@@rgreene152 Robert Foxworth is still with us !
@@770WT and Robert was a recurring character in the final few seasons of Star Trek Deep Space Nine
Always loved Elizabeth from Bewitched of course Foxworth I remember from Omen 2
She is the star of Bewitched from 1964-1972 across eight seasons. 🧙♀️👃🔮
I like this version. Thanks for uploading
I've always wondered why Peter Lawford never appeared in Password Plus, or whether he was ever offered to appear. I know that by 1978-1979, Peter was already in a bad place. But he was so good in Password in the '60s. And he wouldn't have rejected the offer, had he been offered :-)
Thank you for uploading more episodes
congratulations to password plus for a pressive 45 years in the making congratulations keep that milestone going you going to be next 👍
Stranger, laws changer, boarder laws, elections, votes! What’s the password! Umm, President? Terrorism, threats, torture, east, wars What’s the password? Hmm… Russia?
Robert Foxworth before he starred in Falcon Crest a Prime Time Soap from the Creator of The Waltons
Allen Ludden looks the same as he did 13 years prior to this 1979 program.
In 2023, ‘edible’ would have me saying ‘marijuana’
I love the style of this generation, and the hair
Elizabeth Montgomery So Beautiful thanks.
💛This episoDe was Feisty!!
- Do you like to play password? - I love it. - *W O U L D Y O U L I K E T O D O I T?*
Strange statement, but the contestant's reaction was stranger
Before the neon puzzle board, and before the Alphabetics board was lighted and moved to stage right, where the doors would slide open when it was about to be played. So many little quirks in the early episodes, but the show went to a different level and really found its vibe once the set was upgraded a little, and opposite words were disallowed in the gameplay (early April of ‘79). That’s when it started to get GOOD.
Is this part of why they didn't allow the reveal of all the words in puzzles at the time on early solves? Were they truly not capable of doing it? I wondered why.
The "no opposites" rule made the game needlessly harder. Kudos to Super Password for reversing that.
Kinda sucks that video stopped playing after 15:03! But you can still hear it! Then resumed again after alphabetics. Felt like I missed something
Just wait a bit and it continues...
I loved this game version when new, but I missed the male voice announcing each theme word as it appeared on the screen.
That was revived soon after, with announcer Gene Wood.
@@litlgrey Not until Super Password though.
@@ajk Correct, yes.
@@litlgrey And even then, it took a few years in before they did. It wasn't immediate there either.
@@ajk Oh yeah, right! It just kind of... started one week.
Good show thanks for watching
6:20 a perfect clue; but disqualified.
Boo hiss there!
Elizabeth is fabulous.
My screen just froze on WAG!
Brassier would probably never have been used on the original Password.
Allen Ludden has some soul in him
I just saw John yesterday on Match Game!
Benlov lov, i agree with u 1 of the best game shows. I always played along
Ludden was a class act.
18:17 - interesting to note, that rule literally only lasted this show. On the second episode, they revealed all clues after puzzles were solved.
I thought so! I was surprised to see this on the initial episode. Thanks!
Jon gave two clues to the word, Robert would have a crack at it, but doesn't because of early installment weirdness or whatnot..
stops part of the way through Lizes password plus
Blooper alert @ 6:19.
🎯
My picture froze in the middle and just heard the talking.
Great old show
6:19... Would "Cuban" have been a better hint?
Part of the clue
Bruce the “failing actor” was handsome af. Hopefully he did alright
6:20 (censored) 🤣🤣🤣
Stretchy, not stretcher
She kissed Robert Foxworth you can tell Liz wasn't happy.
That's sure sing of misery.
Darn, I was going to say the same thing, word for word. You beat me to it by a year. Yeah, I seen an angry scowl on her face.
@hudsony777 and @riccibilotta I didn't catch the scowl, watch 3 times. Add a time stamp please! @12:40
Hearing Elizabeth Montgomery referred to as "LIZ" cracks me up for some reason
gil wood Her friends called her Lizzie or Liz
@@buckwheatfried I know that ...Thanks ...It just cracks me up ...She is one of my favorite people ever . I met her MANY years ago and was star struct ...She gave me a little hug and probably thought I was weird...I couldn't speak except to tell her I had wished she had been my mom
gil wood How fortunate you were to meet her. I would have loved to have met her. She was so talented and seemed like she was a lovely person. It’s a shame she died so young.
What year did this episode air? 13:46
First episode that originally aired on NBC
I think the contestant John did not really say two separate words. He just slightly started with "ch" and then said the word.
Didn't realize that "do it" blooper happened the very first episode!
72speedway yeah they've run this on the new buzzr feed on twitch
While Elizabeth’s back was turned, her husband kissed the contestant. “I had fun. I got to kiss him!” Elizabeth didn’t look to happy when she heard that. 😮
If you're going to go do something like that you shouldn't even marry them. Caught them doing that at 7:51 wow and then she made that comment did she not think she was out of line kissing a married man then saying that
She was thinking wigs would be split that night
She grabbed him! That's not getting to kiss him...
I remember Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens Stevens on Bewitched. Interesting fact is that she and Robert Foxworth were living together before they got married in 1992. Sadly, she died of Cancer in 1995 and she left us a legacy for years to come. I love to see the ones with Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.
The word "cancer" doesn't get capitalized.
10:42 he said "cute" in Japanese, instead of Hawaii. 🤣
Good grief, Allen, relax
The format, particularly in the aspect of scoring, was changed during development. If you look closely at the front of the desk in this and some of the other earliest episodes, you may notice that the scrapped format's scoring displays are still in place, hidden by panels.
I always wondered what that little box in the middle of the podium was for.
A little too friendly with Robert Foxworth
Well, as Allen said, she "blew" it.
She was blatantly flirting right in front of Elizabeth. Maybe she didn’t know they were a couple.
Elizabeth gave me a nose fetish in the early 60s !!
Password: my electric device
Wow they had some bugs to work out.
When Silvia and Bruce were given the clues and Silvia said the word, I thought Elizabeth is the one that was suppose to guess the puzzle but not Bruce!
Oh dear, Liz is all over the hand signals in Alphabetics. Naughty, naughty.
Oh Lizzie, don't use your hands.
Dislike for the video freezing at 15:03.
Sylvia was on Bob like white on rice.
Silvia... that's NOT how this game is played... LOL
Cuban sandwich yes
Allen Ludden was the best password host. I AM SO SICK OF THE OTHER HOST THAT TALK & ACT INSTEAD OF PLAYING THE GAME.😮
Will you be returning anytime soon we sure all miss you so very much
Are you asking that of Allen Ludden, who died in 1981?
Did I see right or did they not show the fifth clue to the first puzzle? Well I guess they won't reveal the remaining clues in any game
Allen should have given the viewers the words LAST like he did in prior versions!!!!!
Password Plus 1994 Tommy Farnhum & Gina Burke
Cigar..Speech..how the hell did he not guess Churchill?
I thought that was Kate Jackson at first 😊
It’s a shame Allen dude two years later
Why was Password never syndicated?
Probably copywrite issues because of celebrities and contestants, as well as it wouldn't generate enough money for whichever network aired it today!
always like Allen so sad the way he died 6:47 crawl under the table have seen the celebs do that one as well
Anyone else wonder whatever happened to contestants who were “aspiring actors, teachers, astronomers” etc? Like that first guy, just don’t see him ever becoming an actor.
The girl who said cigar by mistake looks so familiar. Actress?
Flaming
show locked up for a while.
I suppose Bruce is still waiting tables
6:19
Liz was eternally beautiful
more than a pretty face a fine actress too
Is that Matthew McConaughey
"Frozen. Stuck. Terrible." "Video!" Yes! You win a downvote!
Why am so old I miss the announcer saying the word?
