You can't actually sterilize a piercing gun, I got a bad serious infection from getting my ear pierced at a mall. It almost went down to my lungs, lucky I saw the Dr. in time.

I got an ear piercing done at Claire’s with a gun when I was around 18 yrs old (made the decision myself, didn’t have any people in my life to advise me against it). To this day, there’s a permanently raised scar on my ear leading off from the piercing site because of that gun being used by people who aren’t even trained in proper piercings and the whole thing getting infected and healing badly.

As a person whose first job was Claire’s, I can confirm this. I was 16 and they were trying to get me to pierce kids ears. Like um no thank you. I had gotten my ears pierced from Claire’s as well and I remember how badly it hurt and how my ear was so strong it BENT the earring. I recommended and still to this day recommend people go to a tattoo shop and get pierced. They have the equipment, training, and aftercare products.

I was 8 when I made the decision myself too. It was also at Claire’s with a piercing gun and they got so infected. I cleaned them and took care of them like I should. I thought I had made a mistake. Luckily they healed up with time and I didn’t have to remove them. Now with two daughters of my own I will take them to a professional piercer when they’re ready.

psa for ppl watching this: never use a gun to pierce. never go to/take your kids to a place that uses guns to pierce. go to an actual, experienced piercer and have it done with a hollow needle. that way the piercing is being done by creating a clean cut/puncture, as opposed to a gun which pierces by basically pushing a chunk of flesh out of the exit hole. its creating a piercing using blunt force trauma. this results in more pain, a worse healing process, and worse results than if you were to use a needle.

She didn't shed a tear. She now has a daughter. When her daughter was 4 years old she asked for her ears to be pierced. Her mother did the same as I had done with her. She knew there would be pain. She didn't shed a tear either. It's not a matter of people minding their own business. Nobody should like to see children subjected to pain.

Babies' skin is very soft... And you grow up your skin matures and thickens. That's why babies don't feel as much pain on piercing earlobes or nostril. Babies cry more from shock and because some stranger is doing something to them... Also it heals faster for babies.

Oh my God, please do not ever get your baby or young child’s ears pierced at Claire’s or anything like that with an ear piercing “gun” When they’re done that young, it’s very very hard to find accurate placement for the hole as they grow into an adult , she may never be able to actually enjoy wearing earrings when she’s older and have to deal with three piercings, moving piercings, etc. My mom did two in each ear and fucked me up. Go to an actual piercer at a tattoo parlor

Waiting until they get older to do ear piercings is better.. in my opinion.. because i remember when i turned 6 i asked my grandma to get my ears pierced for my bday.. walking into the store to get ur ears pieced at a age that you can be excited about it.. is fun and also builds strength in childs mind.. My little drama queen loves to try me... & I'm only human. She can frustrate me. But like this morning for ex. I made 1 of her toys talk telling her to hush. She listens to her toys somexs quicker than she'll listen to me. Or now, I know she can hold her bottle. Honestly babies shouldn’t have their ears pierced until they’re like teens. Ears grow with the body. If you pierce a baby’s ears, when they grow up there is a large possibility their piercings could migrate or they could be crooked. Clip ins are just fine

So adorable! She did so well! I know you probably didn't know, but for future reference (another baby, or potentially repiercing in the future), Claire's, Icing, any store like that is a terrible idea. Those guns can't be cleaned, and they cause excess trauma to the ear lobes. Plus the piercers there aren't trained well. They watch a 30 minute video and take a practice run on a teddy bear. Again, I am not shaming, I pray you don't take it that way. The likelihood of knowing is fairly low. I only found it out after becoming a nurse. A tattoo shop with a single use needle is the best way to go. 💖

IDK if it is the "right thing" to pierce a baby's ears, but I will always tell the parent about the pediatrician, IF a parent decides to have it done, on their child, and tells me about it. I hope that each parent does their research, for their own child, and makes sure they are aware of the risks of any procedure.

You can't actually sterilize a piercing gun, I got a bad serious infection from getting my ear pierced at a mall. It almost went down to my lungs, lucky I saw the Dr. in time.
@@sourcabbagefamily684 nope. You can't sterilize it and it causes trauma to the ear by crushing the tissue instead of pushing it out like a needle does.
I got mine pierced at the mall. Never got infected. Still fine over a decade later.

I got an ear piercing done at Claire’s with a gun when I was around 18 yrs old (made the decision myself, didn’t have any people in my life to advise me against it). To this day, there’s a permanently raised scar on my ear leading off from the piercing site because of that gun being used by people who aren’t even trained in proper piercings and the whole thing getting infected and healing badly.
As a person whose first job was Claire’s, I can confirm this. I was 16 and they were trying to get me to pierce kids ears. Like um no thank you. I had gotten my ears pierced from Claire’s as well and I remember how badly it hurt and how my ear was so strong it BENT the earring. I recommended and still to this day recommend people go to a tattoo shop and get pierced. They have the equipment, training, and aftercare products.
All piercings should be done with a hallow needle and not a piercing gun. Claire’s is really outdated and are continuing to scar some people.

I was 8 when I made the decision myself too. It was also at Claire’s with a piercing gun and they got so infected. I cleaned them and took care of them like I should. I thought I had made a mistake. Luckily they healed up with time and I didn’t have to remove them. Now with two daughters of my own I will take them to a professional piercer when they’re ready.
Damn, I am sorry this happened to y'all... I think I must have been lucky or something because I got mine done at Claire's with no issues, and always thought this was a reasonable place to get piercings. Now I feel differently!

psa for ppl watching this: never use a gun to pierce. never go to/take your kids to a place that uses guns to pierce. go to an actual, experienced piercer and have it done with a hollow needle. that way the piercing is being done by creating a clean cut/puncture, as opposed to a gun which pierces by basically pushing a chunk of flesh out of the exit hole. its creating a piercing using blunt force trauma. this results in more pain, a worse healing process, and worse results than if you were to use a needle.

She didn't shed a tear. She now has a daughter. When her daughter was 4 years old she asked for her ears to be pierced. Her mother did the same as I had done with her. She knew there would be pain. She didn't shed a tear either. It's not a matter of people minding their own business. Nobody should like to see children subjected to pain.

Babies' skin is very soft... And you grow up your skin matures and thickens. That's why babies don't feel as much pain on piercing earlobes or nostril. Babies cry more from shock and because some stranger is doing something to them... Also it heals faster for babies.
Fathers who don't engage with their babies miss out on so much life and love. Don't be one of those fathers. Be like this guy. He is getting so much out of being there with his child. ❤

Oh my God, please do not ever get your baby or young child’s ears pierced at Claire’s or anything like that with an ear piercing “gun” When they’re done that young, it’s very very hard to find accurate placement for the hole as they grow into an adult , she may never be able to actually enjoy wearing earrings when she’s older and have to deal with three piercings, moving piercings, etc. My mom did two in each ear and fucked me up. Go to an actual piercer at a tattoo parlor
I got mine done when I was a baby, fasho not at Claire's but yeah one hole is a little higher than the other but not too noticably different until I got my second ones as a teen lol , sucks u had 2 done in each ear as a baby wtf for real o.O

Waiting until they get older to do ear piercings is better.. in my opinion.. because i remember when i turned 6 i asked my grandma to get my ears pierced for my bday.. walking into the store to get ur ears pieced at a age that you can be excited about it.. is fun and also builds strength in childs mind.. Babies are way stronger than we give em credit for. Not to say they're still not babies. It's just they already know when they got someone wrapped around their fingers. My little drama queen loves to try me... & I'm only human. She can frustrate me. But like this morning for ex. I made 1 of her toys talk telling her to hush. She listens to her toys somexs quicker than she'll listen to me. Or now, I know she can hold her bottle. She just would rather throw a fit over me holding it bc she's not about to put in any work that she doesn't need to... & I tried not to super baby my oldest the same. That girl taught herself how to ride her bike on rocks. Although she did cry when she got her ears pierced tho. For like a moments worth. U baby them too much, they'll just feel the need to hype up their emos

Honestly babies shouldn’t have their ears pierced until they’re like teens. Ears grow with the body. If you pierce a baby’s ears, when they grow up there is a large possibility their piercings could migrate or they could be crooked. Clip ins are just fine

Is cultural, mostly from latinoamerican countries, babies get their ears pierced with special made earrings, normally made of gold, and once they grow up you take them off and keep them in a little box, I'm 23 and my mother still has mine!

What a beautiful little baby girl. She didn't even cry. Dad I've been there and done that with my son. The first time he got his shots, I felt it more than he did and he started crying. As a mom oh my gosh that just broke my heart seeing him in pain. But a few seconds later, he calmed down. As a parent we always feel it first, but she took it like a champion. She's just a happy little baby girl.

I know you probably didn't know, but for future reference (another baby, or potentially repiercing in the future), Claire's, Icing, any store like that is a terrible idea. Those guns can't be cleaned, and they cause excess trauma to the ear lobes. Plus the piercers there aren't trained well. They watch a 30 minute video and take a practice run on a teddy bear. Again, I am not shaming, I pray you don't take it that way. The likelihood of knowing is fairly low. I only found it out after becoming a nurse. A tattoo shop with a single use needle is the best way to go. 💖

My niece didn't. Most of the time babies react more on other people's reaction than how they really feel. She could've been shocked but since she didn't feel any negative vibe around, she let it slide. Also, her pain tolerance is high so..

For anyone wondering, most pediatricians will do ear rings for babies which will basically guarantee a sterile environment for your child. I hope this helps ❤
Ty for saying so- piercing guns, especially at Claire’s, are not the way to go. Some tattoo shops also do excellent sterile piercings ❤

@@chrissyscholl816 everyone has different reasons, id assume. I'm sure there could be cultural, social, environmental, familiar or personal reasons. IDK if it is the "right thing" to pierce a baby's ears, but I will always tell the parent about the pediatrician, IF a parent decides to have it done, on their child, and tells me about it. I hope that each parent does their research, for their own child, and makes sure they are aware of the risks of any procedure.
