Being scared is natural. There are so many amazing coming out stories filled with love and acceptance, as well as a huge number of awful ones. Most however are quite pedestrian. It may take a short while for them to understand. But hopefully they'll be fine with accepting you for who you are. Only you know your circumstances. If you rely on them for a roof, or food, or money, then you'll need to consider that before coming out. Make sure that it's safe for you, and that you're doing it because you want to, not because you feel pressured to. Coming out is a gift that you give to the people you trust. The ones who love and support you for who you are. You're literally giving them a gift of your true self. Save that gift for the right people. And when you're ready, I hope your first hello is as beautiful as you are. ❤️🏳️🌈✊

OMG! What a Beautiful song! I'm basically crying over the lyrics and music! If there were more like this to tell a story of coming out it would have not been so hard to do back 30 to 40 years ago! I can only pray and hope that you young individuals to go forward and be Yourself during this troubling times of our current political GOP system trying to move us(LGBTQ) folks back in the closet 50 to 60 years ago! Grant, you have brilliantly articulated the pre-coming-out stress and post-coming-out euphoria, precisely how I felt forty years ago when I came out to my family and friends. Fortunately, I didn't lose a single friendship among everyone I told I was gay. As time passed, I would tell people who asked if I were gay, "Yep." Folks - if you are gay and still dependent upon your parents or other family for housing and food, come out ONLY when you are independent and paying your own way. Please don't risk losing your security by coming out to parents or guardians whom you believe may react negatively - and disown you.
I came out as bisexual In 22 and was rlly scared cuz I’ve always felt different and I ran from it but even running from it doesn’t make it go away so I stopped running and embraced it and I told my friends first then I let everyone else figure out themselves, after seeing you come out to your parents Grant it pushed me to do the same so thank you so much for this we all can relate.
