  • Sandler is just the coolest. Met him once outside Yankee stadium. He was clearly in a rush, so I didn't want to bother him. My friends still asked for pics and whatnot, and he obliged. He didn't care he was in a rush, and told us his fans are what matters to him. Always had my respect after that.

    • That’s so awesome to know!!! Thanks for telling us that, man . Because we shouldn’t care that much about celebrities but it is what it is! I wouldn’t extremely bummed if you said he had acted like an a$$hole but still respectful that he is a person too and probably had somewhere way more important to be than any of us would! Glad to know he was really cool !

I'm glad that the world is beginning to see that and Sandler is not appearing in half a dozen (of the same fucking movies) per year. Piss poor impressions and the same couple "Weird voices" is not considered great comedy outside the third grade. Anybody who knew me, knew I was obsessed with the guy. I still have a folder full of pics, articles, drawings, etc that my family used to give me. When I was got older, I realized, I'm not a hopeful kid anymore. The man is happily married and living his best life. I'm 40 now, and still a huge fan. In fact, my son and I just watched grown ups 1 & 2 last week. He still cracks me up. I wish him continued success and a long happy marriage. • Agreed. One of my favorite all time What If scenarios is "What if Sandler stayed for the 1995 season?" I don't think it woulda been as bad as a lot of people think it could have been. In reality while NBC hated him and wanted him gone they didn't really fire him per se, he decided to go to make sure everyone kept their jobs. They were gonna either cancel the show if Farley, Sandler, and a majority of the cast didn't leave or replace everyone including Lorne. Adam told him instead he's go as he had 2 movies coming up that next year. Adam mentioned that in one of the SNL books. He loved the show and didn't wanna go in 95, Farley did but not Sandler he finally got to do what he wanted to do and loved doing it. He helped carry the 1994/95 season. A 1995 with Sandler season woulda been miles different for sure. One of 1994's biggest issues was there quite simply too many people. You had Kevin Nealon who had been there for close to 10 years and was burned out, you had Jeannine Garaffalo who started drama all during her run and made it all toxic, and you had people like Jay Mohr who didn't do anything. A good majority of them would be gone: only see Sandler, Meadows, McDonald, McKinney, and Molly Shannon staying. I think Ferrell still woulda made it but there wouldn't have been Jim Brewer more than likely, and possibly not Chris Kattan which is a +. I think 1995 woulda went well regardless. Sandler woulda been his 90's self still but he woulda had better actors and writers to work with. ? is how long would he have stayed? I say at least 1 or 2 more seasons. It woulda been amazing for sure; completely different show but way more fun.

    • Ehh I agree on the writing, it was rough that year but Farley and Spade were too worried about Hollywood to make an effort. Both of them going wasn't a major loss they checked out way earlier than everyone else. I've seen the whole season a few times; Sandler did WAY more on most shows than Farley did especially the first 4 or 5. Sandler, Chris Elliott, McKean, Shannon near the end, and Norm were about the only things they could rely on that year. Even Mike Myers was annoying at point; no big loss when he left either. I enjoy that year in terms of being awful it's a guilty pleasure and I'd rather watch them over Ferrell's run any day they are just more fun. but I spend most of it wishing they coulda pulled it together they all deserved a better last run. Sandler especially as he put a lot of effort in that year.

    • Anni C agreed. I started off laughing but once that happened, and Chris rock said his piece, thinking about the greats that I used to watch as a kid, it’s a surprisingly good riff about not letting failure slow you down, and even the biggest of us have had lows and got let go from situations we liked. I loved this, and I’m not a huge Sandler fan, but this came from somewhere real.

    • @@SoaringTrumpet It might take another 20 years for him to come back. I go back to the 80s with SNL. I was in 8H talking to Chris Rock in his first show. I wonder what the story was for him to host? Certainly wasn't the money. Maybe nostalgia?
