  • I heard Flair tell a story about Kerry taking his clothes off and going out on the balcony of a hotel that was 8 stories high and was threatening to jump. He said somebody called Roddy Piper and Roddy came up to the room and took all of his clothes off before he went on the balcony to talk Kerry out of it lol Piper was a smart guy and sounds like a good friend.

    • I met Mr. Hot Rod back in 88 or 89 in Baton Rouge LA. Hacksaw Jim Dugan introduced me to him, cause I was a huge fan. I grew up boxing and in 89 was trying to push for the Olympics in 92, which was going to be in Barcelona. Roddy Piper was a funny guy man and something oh a legend. Well to me anyways. I wanted to meet Hulk Hogan but that dude was and still from what I understand a prick. I think one of the coolest wrestlers I had ever met was years after he retired and that None other than J.Y.D!!!! Mr. Junk Yard Dog was a character man. He sat there at my job and told us stories of him and Dugan wrestling. As far as me boxing. Yeah I messed it up playing backyard baseball with my brother and our friends. I was pitching and tore my rotater cuff. I never got back the want to in boxing after that. Anyway it's good to hear about the stories these guys tell. It was a very hard life for them and they had to preform almost 3 times a week for 51 weeks out of the year. Between trying to Juggle a family for some, weight lifting, driving all over the states, living in different hotel rooms almost every night and then preforming. These guys were true athletes based off of everything they did before stepping into a ring. Take care and sorry for this being so long. It just brings back so many memories.

  • I felt the worst for Doris. It must be horrible to live through 5 of your 6 children dying. Though they divorced just after this piece was made for Hard Copy, she also outlived Fritz, who died of cancer in 1997. Kerry died in 1993, of course. Doris died in 2015.

    • And it seems that she lost a brother, David Smith, when he was just 15. Jack Jr is buried next to him. AND a grandchild from her son David(if I'm not wrong) who died in infancy. Whew! Doris is as strong as a lion. Stronger actually. I wish she had gone around the country giving talks at those organizations that are made up of parents who lost children. She sure would have been a comfort to many.

  • Kevin seems at peace with all of it now. I wonder about the upcoming 2023 movie though, and how that might affect him. However, he's done enough interviews to prepare him for those feelings, I believe. Kevin said in the Dark Side of the Ring episode, "Every man will die, but you do your best everyday until that day comes." He also said somewhere that there were no brothers who could have been closer than they were. I feel like he's tried to live out the good life everyday, that his brothers did not. God bless him as I'm certain he's had some tough days.

  • Of all the Von Erich brothers the one I feel sorry for the most is Chris. He was the one that had the strongest desire to become a wrestler but sadly he was considered not to have the physical build for wrestling. If the cruiserweight division was around at that time then maybe that would gave Chris hope to live out his wrestling dream and maybe he would of never turned to suicide. Poor guy.....

To grow up in the shadow of your father, and 4 other brothers, all of whom you idolize more than anything, but to not have the physical tools to be like them, must have been devastating. Fritz was obviously one of those. Sometimes you see people with 3 or 4 kids and one might be messed up on drugs or needs mental health help but to have most of your kids messed up comes back on you the parent

What he supposedly died from is very painful? Why was David alone and it was proof Brody flair and alot more wrestlers were on that tour also...? 🤔. The entertainment business is very wicked wrestling is the same as a actors in Hollywood... If you don't do what your told or you don't make the sacrifices or keep quiet you will die.... I am thinking he wanted them all dead, and who knows if he isn't the one who killed them or had them killed. Strange deaths. Mike underwent shoulder surgery on August 3,1985 in Tel Aviv, Fritz is believed to have forced him immediately back into training before he could recover, which led to him developing Toxic Shock Syndrome which deteriorated his mental state. Finally on Sunday April 12,1987 after feeling so much pressure and stress from his father from the Angle exploiting his condition, Adkisson overdosed on a Sleeping Drug Placidyl, he was survived by his young wife of 2 years Shani, Brothers Kerry,Kevin and Chris and parents Jack and Doris. Chris Von Erich tried to make it in the ring, but his short stature and brittle bones made Wrestling a Pipe Dream for Baby Chris. In 1991, he auditioned for WWF under the Gimmick "The Crane", after being bullshitted by Vince McMahon several times, he was finally formerly turned down for being lightweight(Lightweight Divisions didn't exist yet). Fearing failure of his planned October 1991 set audition for WCW as "Crybaby Chris"(A gimmick inspired by the '90 Johnny Depp Musical Crybaby), 22 Year old Adkisson walked into his Parent's Thicket in Denton,TX on the morning of Thursday September 12,1991, placed a Revolver to his temple, and pulled the trigger. On February 15,1993, 33 year old Kerry "Texas Tornado" Adkisson, who was on leave from WWF(He was the only Von Erich to make it to WWF), A Dallas,Co judge threw the book at him on prior Drug possession charges, and a DUI and sentenced him to 6 years in prison. He was ordered to being serving his sentence on February 19th, facing the ruined legacy of his Family, a bitter divorce risking him being able to see his two young daughters, Adkisson on February 18th decided to join his brothers by walking behind his Parent's thicket, and placing a 9MM to chest and pulling the trigger.

The fans went wild when Kerry came behind the current. The fans truly adored him. He actually won that match, too, but couldn't remember the guy he wrestled against.😗

    • @@jarvisyoung8350 Mike wanted nothing to do with the business. Even after nearly dying from toxic shock syndrome he was forced back into the ring where he was never the same physically as a wrestler & to boot he was not that good to begin with. Then once the legal troubles started to mount he couldn't take it and killed himself. Mike knew his little brother wanted to be a wrestler but knew the pressure that would come from it from fans and more so Fritz. So when Mike left his scuba gear to Chris in one of the fins he left a bottle of the same drugs that killed him to Chris with a note that read something to the effect of "For whenever you're ready". He knew Chris would crumble under the same pressures he did but Chris decided to shoot himself in the head instead of intentionally overdosing.

  • The reason why they all died was because of Fritz, plain and simple. Might get some people commenting saying "How could you say that" but it's the truth. He put way too much expectation on those boys, if David had survived things may have ended up differently, but his death was the catalyst for all the others. By his own admission, the only reason Kevin is still alive today is because he's a family man, if he wasn't then there would be no Von Erich from that generation alive today.

  • That is a strong ass woman!!! To have to bury 1 child is hard enough.... How to find the strength to have another child fall and then another. Man this would rip a heart out and throw in on the ground and stomp it, then put it back in. Its that moment you get that knot in the back of your throat and tears start to fall. Thats when you know its real. I feel NO parent should lose a child and yet we do. Mike Tyson and the tragic way his 4yr old daughter passed away. When that happened and the story broke.... I was sitting on the couch holding my 4yr old. I looked down at her and kissed her on top of her head. My baby girl is who has kept me grounded and from doing somtbing stupid. The dad and how he pushed his kids. Im not sure i could do that. Shaq said this and so did Mike Tyson. I played basketball so you dont have too, i boxed so you dont have too. Neither one of them wanted to push their child in these directions. But i caught myself trying to push my son into baseball. I backed off when i thought about what i said on a random Saturday. I told my son, if you want to be better then me, then you have to work harder then i did!!! I worked hard to play football, basketball, basketball and boxing. Hell every morning after drinking a glass of OJ, id run 5 miles befkre school everyday. Somedays i ran to school. Nah, i dont want my son to do all that. Take it easy.
