Born and bred in London, Anjunabeats started life as a university project in the year 2000. Today, Anjunabeats is one of the world’s best-loved dance labels. Over 700 releases spanning two decades wear the iconic Anjuna ‘A’.
To celebrate, they’ve opened the vault for a handpicked group of artists from the label’s 20-year history. Each artist will sift through thousands of hours of music to create a definitive, mix of their all-time favourite Anjunabeats releases.
On 21 January, ALPHA 9 delivers the sixteenth mix in the series.
“Russia's Artem Stolyarov. Whether he's ARTY or ALPHA 9, he's always been sensational.
Corentin, Anjuna's technology boffin, put Artem on our radar. A teenager at the time, he was writing simple, pure melodies that got stuck in your head. ARTY properly arrived on Anjunabeats as part of 'Volume 8'. "The Wonder” and "Rush" were both effortlessly catchy and euphoric.
What is there to say about “Zara" and “Kate" that hasn't been said already? Sublime. His collaborations with Mat Zo also deserve a mention: “Rebound" broke new ground for our label and “Mozart" further refined that winning formula.
Artem's live energy is unmatched in our label family. He's a proper rock star, complete with the bleached, blonde hair. We're a decade into our friendship now, and our next chapter together looks very bright indeed.

  • This is easily one of the best "20 years of Anjunabeats" mixes. The flow from beginning to end was flawless (except the transition into Mat Zo - Default but he did best he could!). Track selection was very very good. Ultimately, a great chilled and upbeat mix that brings a beaming smile to my face, and my hair to stand on ends. Well done Arty.

  • I've personally listened to every 20 year anjuna mash, and even despite Alpha 9 being not one of my favorite artists, I have to give it to him he in my opinion has made the most cohesive and flowing mash up that perfectly articulates what 20 years of anjunabeats means to me in an hour of back to back well thought out and particularly placed hits! Thanks Alpha 9 for giving the best 20 year mash up yet!

  • Arty is Alpha 9! (Well, it's said that you learn something new every day...) Arty's remix of "Are You Fine?" by Kyau and Albert is fantastic, as is Alpha 9's remix of the A & B classic, "Good For Me". Though neither track is played here, this is a rewarding listen anyhow.

  • Holy crap, how amazing is the production in Before The Dawn?! I stopped listening to ALPHA 9/Arty for about 5 years and then I return randomly to this masterpiece and then the original masterpiece, Zara! God, Arty has gotten way better over the past few years at both mixing and producing! BTW, the Paul Keeley track, Cloud 9 is amazing and I loved the mixing out of it. I see why "8th-note prog" like this stopped being produced, but it will always be a favorite of mine. The Adam K & Soha remixes of that time are timeless IMO. Loved the Bart Claessen throwback. All around fantastic mix! Bravo😭

  • Beautiful set! The Michael Cassette will never disappointed his greatest fans like me. Bart Claessen has change his Hard style. I can't believe it!!! I know... the Anjuna artists in these sets choose what they like most in Anjunabeats music history, but I really can't understand why they don't drop the label classics and anthems, I mean from the first decade (2001-2009). Most part of sets are featured/compound by the newest (and not Trance) releases. PS: The Anjunabeats history begins at 31:49 ;)

  • from the looks of it all of the Anjuna dj's agree that Pauls home coming is one to the remember! it has that electric 80's feel but also this futuristic space travel vibe. its dreamy and lofty and is something for playlists on repeat! The transition to track 3 wasn't great and track 5 remained on track 6 for for too long, though sorry Alpha9 :(
