Western Ukraine doesn't speak Russian, and wasn't part of Russia until after WW 2 - until then, it was part of (sometimes German-occupied) Poland. So it shouldn't become part of Russia now.

I counted over 40 burial mounds that had just a large tombstone that only showed the year those poor souls perished. Also on the southern outskirts of the city and in the suburbs you can make out what looks like strafing marks on building wall.

Russia is highly fortified and consolidated in Ukraine.
