They also want revenge for being exiled. Which bring me to the effect “bad omen”. I think the pilligars are squadrons assigned to hunt you down and kamikaze with a spell the vindicator put on them that transfers to you when it dies. Specifically a tracking spell. So that way the next time you go to a village they can track you down and destroy it for revenge. Rather than finding it themselves.🤯

I doubt you'll ever see this, but with the addition of the Allay into the Wild Update and them being found in the jail cells in Woodland Mansions, often in groups of three, do you think we just found the souls the Evokers fuse together to make Vex? I know they can't go through blocks and they do have a shadow, but some of the sounds they make are reminicient of whispering voices, similar the the Vex's ghostly whooshing. Maybe worth a Mini Theory?
Also an interesting easter egg: if there is a red sheep near and evoker, it will use magic to turn it blue.

I think the vindicators when they ‘forget’ their targets they’re actually attempting to resist the urges they have to destroy. Like some clones refused order 66 before unfortunately having no choice but to turn.
I like the concept that the reason the vindicators are called that is because the illagers view their twisted experiments as vindication for what they perceive as crimes against THEM

A really odd thing about vincators is that once there axe breaks, they become peaceful. (That, or I am thinking about pilligers.)
For the "most exciting block" block thing, I'd say it depends. While emeralds and netherite are the rarest blocks in the overworld and the Nether respectively. But, If you you were looking for iron or quartz, then sure, it would be exciting to find those things, but not what you're looking for. (I went way too in-depth on this lol) oh, yeah, and also we've seen lapis be used before with magical stuff, (enchanting table) so it isn't that much of a stretch to say that the Evokers are using it in other ways
I'd suppose netherite would be the most exciting block to find, concerning its rarity. I mean, you can create pretty cool and powerful weapons and armor with it, so it's pretty dope! A block of emerald would be pretty disappointing, in my opinion, because it doesn't do much besides allowing me to buy bread from a villager or a map, but otherwise not too exciting.

Idea: after the civilisation of builders left the overworld and escaped into the end, some of the remaining villagers didn't exaped that and wonted to recreate the builders and createt Herobrine
But in Minecraft Dungeons, there's an artifact, the Soul Lantern, that lets you summon "A creature of bound souls." It looks similar to a Vex.
I have 3 theories 1 - Evokers can be a hybrid of a villager and an ancient builder or Steve, that's why they are the only one that can access the totem of undying as Steve, the player can die and respawn as many times they want for some reason. And also they can use magic as the ancient builders could according to mat's theory 2 - The Evokers must have seen the ancient builder or Steve die and respawn and so they wanted to have that same power so they created the totem of undying but as they were less advanced than us, they could only respawn once. 3 - Vindicator have blue eyes maybe because they were one of the ancient builder who was corrupted by the illagers as Steve also has blue eyes.

Something you should think more on is the name of evokers and the specific school of magic. Evocation is defined as "the action of invoking a spirit or deity", this mostly just confirms the theory but the word "deity" makes me wonder how exactly they learned what the ancient builders couldn't.
The meaning of evoke is also to bring back or recall something. Could be bringing back memories or anger of the lost souls.
I love how minecraft and fnaf have the same “im gonna use souls to make life but it low-key backfires” thing going on-

Wont happen. Mojang has explicitly said that _all_ villagers are pacifists and will not fight. The only exception is the Iron Golems that protect the village for them. If vindicators were cured, and went around chopping up zombies, they would just get kicked out again. Its different when the player does it, he isn't a villager. But villagers do not tolerate violence. One of the reasons pillagers are casted out of villages.

Basically Evokers are using the lapis Lazuli to hypnotize villagers so they can up their numbers and get revenge on the villagers who sent them away, which would explain the raids.
The unique injured(at least I think that’s what it’s for) texture of the vex with those red veins makes it look like it’s fused together too.
Next theory: how does Steve exist after the ancient builders died out
i don't think that steve is a human, well not completley but i know that he can bleed and feel hunger and other things but let's really take a look on him. first of all steve spawn in the middle of no where without any traces and without any equipments as if he just existed. second of all steve have a strenght and he is capable of destroying any block with his bare hands and yes even obsidian but it just take too long for him. third of all steve can use a very strange magic or ability which not a lot of people are aware of and it is the ability of inventory i mean seriously their is no creature in the world of minecraft other than steve that can use that power, and he can hold 2368 golden cube which weight A LOT. fourth of all steve doesn't really have an objective and he need clues so he can know what to do and it is like a computre that tells him what to do and that may not be true but their is another idea of what can it be which is that steve is receving messages from gods and to prove that we all can see the conversation between the two gods at the end of minecraft. fifth of all we know that steve looks different from the other villagers and not only that but steve can't breed from them which tells me that steve isn't really a normall human. sixth of all steve have the ability to respawn but even after he respawn that doesn't stop time which also tells me that he is a creature choosen by gods and the reason i am saying that is because i have read a manhwa(the korean virsion of manga) by the name of the revival man and the MC in it have the ability to respawn after 3 days in the last bed he slept in and ofc no one have such a ability beside him. seventh of all we all know that if villagers got attacked by zombies then they will turn into zombie villagers and like mathew said the zombies could be the ancient builders who just turned into zombies but when steve get attacked by zombies he doesn't turn into one but he just die and then respawn. Vindicators are the 'fermentation vessels' for souls before they are used in experimentation so they are purified. It is why vindicators are SO aggressive with a huge aggro radius. This is ALSO why they have blue eyes. 'Windows to the soul.' Vindicator eyes are windows to the souls; plural.
Interesting to see the vex sound has a shriek similar to that of a phantom, on top of that they have like the main structure of the wings too, but have the same eye brows as the illager
This doesn't really relate to any theory, but we know that the villagers know of the nether and the end because of the clerics nether wart and ender pearl trades, and we know that the ancient builders built nether portals because of the 1.16 update. So I believe that the villagers will trade with the player and not with other mobs because they remember how the ancient builders showed them mercy and showed them the secrets of the Minecraft world, and now they want to help the player. Along with this the villagers don't die of old age from what we've seen, so they should remember the players species which is why their trades are so low on a flat rate with the player.

it could be possible that some of these exiles are making their own communities and intend to keep it going for a *long time* , generations if you will, if you catch my drift
With the new update of Allays, I have figured out how vexes are made. I came across an outpost, and when I expected to find an iron golem, I found Allays to n the cage instead. They use the Allays and convert them, likely with lapis, to create vexes.
We actually have solid proof that creatures made of souls exist. Minecraft Dungeons also has the Soul Lantern, which has the description, "This lantern, still covered in the sands of a far-flung place, allows those who hold it to summon a creature formed from bound souls."

Theory: The Evokers eyes are the same color as the totem of undying. Maybe they are using the souls of villagers or other illagers (however you spell it) to get these extra lives?

When I fight a raid I always turn on the music calm 4 because people in it should be played in the raise but they should definitely take out the Mojang specifications

Mattpat when are you going to do a theory on ghasts. There’s an achievement in minecraft where you bring a ghast to the overworld and kill it “and the achievement description says :*rescue a ghast and bring it home, then kill it* and has mechanical parts in the bestiary. Suggesting it originates from the overworld and perhaps is made by the old builders. It also drops a tear when it dies which also suggests this. And theres also an unused ghast sound called: ghast’s affection. Likely supposed to be used when you rescue one
Ghast is just a fragment of souls the soul sand is made up of the other fragments of the same soul and remaining converted to ghast due to lack of soul it has lack of memory and attacks anyone it sees new except for hostile mobs living there

@@ultimazilla9814 a good point but it supports a large theme of data so I couldn’t ignore it. Also you can’t forget about how in the beastsary ghasts are just machines with fire charges in them. And the only one who cries and drops tears, and is pretty much always sad. Probably meaning they need rescuing.

I just realized something: When you kill an evoker, they don't pop the totem, but when you kill it it drops it, so maybe the reason the illagers do raids is for souls that in turn are used for totems that would give them immortality. like this so matpat can see

Theory: the creeper is a mechanical beast, like the golem. Its shades of green could have been used as camouflage. Plus the cave sound with the creeper face could be the creeper
