Born and bred in Leicester, Ashleigh Plumptre has already achieved one goal by playing for her hometown club. Now, she has made an important choice to pay tribute to her heritage by turning her back on England and instead representing Nigeria at international level, qualifying via her paternal grandfather.   • Nigerians are acceptable and easy, rugged and resilient...even the poor ones know how to party and count their blessings. We're a bit brutally honest and very proud of out heritage. You'd enjoy a lot being a Nigerian. Once again, welcome home...my Nigerian name for you is 'Tokunbo'.... which somewhat means our child vrom overseas or foreign land.   • Ashleigh's a great football player, she had a fantastic world cup tournament with the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the world cup, an outstanding game against England in the round of 16. Nigeria is not a perfect country, but her ability to see past the clear short comings and challenges as she discovers and experiences the culture, the food, and connects with the people, is quite beautiful to observe.
