How Vincent Kompany TRANSFORMED Burnley So Quickly! | Explained

Burnley are riding high in the Championship this season under fledgling coach Vincent Kompany - and they’re doing it in style. The former Manchester City star has already earned comparisons to Pep Guardiola for his quick transition from Sean Dyche’s defensive set-up, and with loanee stars like City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen in the squad, he’s also making a name for himself as a developer of young talent. But how has he done it? What do Burnley play like? And how can Nottingham Forest and Brentford help them prepare for a return to the Premier League?

Mark of a GOAT manager is not only the success he has in his own managerial career but also paving the road for others that come after him. You now see so many clubs here in England wanting to pass out from the back, even in non league. Almost every coach or player thats go on to manage after coaching/playing under him have go on to be somewhat successful. • Yes because it's in the Championship and they one best teams in it. Let's see how Kompany fares in EPL next season. Style and results and whether can keep them up if he does I be impressed. Sean Dyche played attacking football in the Championship with Burnley so did Newcastle under Beneitez in the Championship. Both played direct defensive football because didn't have budget or quality of players keep it up in the EPL. All depends on quality of players and budget your wondering under. Eddie Howe played attacking football at Bournemouth in football league and EPL had bigger budget then Newcastle before takeover and had much bigger budget then Dyche at Burnley. Money matters in football when you got healthy budget and competitive wage bill work.

    @michaelg3463@michaelg3463 Жыл бұрын
    • Agreed. As an Everton supporter watching Dyche the last few weeks, he clearly knows how to win games and squeeze out as much as possible from each player. He spent nearly a decade at Burnley with zero budget and was able to bring stability. If he keeps Everton up this season with DCL being the only productive target man striker, it would be quite spectacular. Wish VK the best, but if Burnley gets promoted the real test will be playing in the EPL.

      @TheToffyzStudios@TheToffyzStudios Жыл бұрын
    • @TheToffyzStudios Definitely I don't buy into the media hype on Kompany. Yes he has done brilliantly at Burnley but they are in the second division and got one largest budgets and best players cause they gonna be favourites go back up. Sean Dyche will do well at Everton if given time but with your owner not sure he sacks managers left right and centre. Thought you should of never sacked Koeman he was a really good manager. Ended up at Barcelona and as Holland manager so he couldn't of being that bad. SA wasn't a good fit for your personality wise to much of a big head. Marco Silva was average so was Roberto Martinez. RB was wrong fit with Liverpool connections and all that which was wrong move begins with. However with Sean Dyche feels different like perfect fit for long term stability if given time and tools and hopefully recruitment gets sorted out as amount money you spent you should of never being in a relegation battle. Think long term you should copy Brighton formula for recruitment. Buy up and coming talented players for peanuts and sell them for lots of money. Not rubbish from Arsenal that come with big egos and huge wages. Walcot and other player name escapes me.

  • xG whilst a good descriptor, it is not a true predictor. It doesn’t take into account things like game state, the compound effect of multiple chances and the laws of average- hell even the confidence you get from being top of the league. If you’re creating more, you are going to score more no matter the xG. And when you have quality players who are above average at the level you will outperform xG as it is an average, which clumps the average with the exceptional. Eddie Howe says football is about moments, it certainly isn’t about averages- and we’ve had a hell of a lot of moments already which comes with confidence. As for set pieces, this video was obviously ignoring the prospect of a fit Scott Twine. A player who has suffered with injury, but is that specialist as shown in league one and last night against West Brom. As for the defensive work, the start of the season has affected the overall statistics. If you could isolate these statistics after the World Cup break, you’d see a very different picture. Jordan Beyer has been phenomenal, and with the signings of two more promising internationally capped CBs we will get better with time. We’ve also played two premier league sides this year, and weren’t embarrassed. We missed crucial chances against the full first team of Manchester United and held the ball exceptionally well for most of the game. And we whooped Bournemouth who are struggling, but showed their class in the championship. Now for the question of our club debt, it’s more than half paid already. And no doubt will have been boosted by the teams success as ticket revenues are actually up from last year, and the club shirt has been a hit (amongst other smart dealings by the board). We’ve invested close to 30 mill from the 60 from player sales, and we’re not done yet it seems. I’d say the project as a whole is in the middle of a Brighton and Brentford model. And hopefully we can kick on. No side can match us this season (and I’m convinced we will whoop Sheffield United at home).

    • @@jamesturner2914 also, the player presented with a chance.. Did he just suffer a knock and is still winded? Was there a sudden gust of wind? Did the ball bobble just before striking it? Did he just miss an easier chance and lacks confidence? Is there something in his eye? Did he just spot his wife in the stand talking to the girl he's cheating on her with? I'm being frivolous, clearly. But my point stands; there are so many things that can't be measured it renders any measurement of the things that can be, all but meaningless. Funny how often Burnley fans were told 'you're over-performing re: XG' during the Dyche era. Took seven years for the 'experts' to be proven right. Meaning judged across all the seasons we were in the prem, the data was exposed as nonsense...

      @Eat-MyGoal@Eat-MyGoal Жыл бұрын
    • Another problem with xG is the goalkeeper. It is much easier to score against Jim from next door than Prime Courtois but xG doesn't take the ability of the keeper into account. Post-Shot xG is a better measure as it measures the actual shooting ability of a player, a formula like PsxG-xG is better than just xG as there is nothing you can do about a really good keeper. PsxG can also be used to measure goalkeeping performance as well

      @x_zschannel@x_zschannel Жыл бұрын
    • Its not BS, because teams cant overachieve constantly season after season, its what happened with Leicester e.g. they were underachieving before the World Cup compared to their XG, but they finally started scoring the chances they shoudve and now they are already in a much better position Im not saying its a 100% accurate and everybody should follow the XG, but it is a clear indicator of how your team and the players are performing

  • Some good analysis but lots of just looking at statistics and drawing conclusions. We don't keep possession for possession sake - the number is high because a lot of teams sit in against us so we're naturally going to have a lot more of the ball - if given a choice we'd like to advance the ball towards the goal quickly - just not recklessly. In the PL we will be well suited to counter some teams quickly, no issues there.

Not to mention all the loaned players who are going to go back to their clubs and he can only loan one player from Man City when in the Premier League
