Currently I am starting to collect watches and I am really fascinated with the history and how they are made. In my collection now I have, LIV P51, Tissot Couturier black and silver day date, Certina DS ACTION Day-Date, Casio WVA-M630B-3AJF, Hamilton Khaki Field King day date, Mido Multifort Gent, Seiko SUR449 day date, Movado Circa day date, Citizen Couturier, Citizen CZ smart. I am currently looking at a Tudor or Omega on Watchrecon site you posted on KZhead. I was wondering what are your views of thise 2, thank you.
Yay, haven’t seen a video in a while! Good to see you not only in shorts 😄
Thanks! More long-form vids to come. :)
Helpful video, keep up the good work!?👍
I really appreciate your videos when I’m buying a watch for a younger family member. Really the best most informative in the affordable category. Thank you
Great list bro
Excellent video and advice. I just gave my Seiko SRPE55 to a friend of mine who’s beginning to get into watches. It really is one of the best and most versatile watches you can begin with.
Great video
Really enjoy your shorts content, glad to see a full video. Appreciate all the information and much love.
Thanks so much for watching, and for the support. More long-form to come!
This was a great video! Appreciate the info and candidness that you bring to the watch arena
Just bought myself a Seiko SRPG18K1 for 590€ retail, lovely watch with a king of bronze/rose gold dial. Has screw down crown, 200m of water resistance. I swapped the leather strap for a rubber one matching the dial color. I just love it ❤
Very cool one! I think rubber is the right move.
Great video! ❤
Thanks buddy!!
Just bought a Seiko SNZG15J1 last night as my first "real" watch, but also as my everyday watch.
Hey, a long-form video from you, at last! Great list here, which - shocker! - I have no quibbles with. The best thing is that these "beginner" watches are good enough to keep in one's collection as you grow in experience/knowledge/sophistication regarding watches. Nice going!
Thanks! More long-form videos coming. Yes, exactly! You nailed it. Watches that serve as good starting points, yet won't be outgrown in the future. Heck, I own about 80% mentioned here and they all still get wrist time.
Made me smile when your showed my Islander watch.
Amazing video as always man! Keep it up, youre my favorite watches KZheadr!!
I second that!
Thanks so much! I truly, genuinely appreciate the support, you have no idea.
Thanks for the support as always, buddy.
Enjoy your channel. Cheers
Don’t think I’ve ever heard of Glycine but I like their look.
Awesome list
Thanks Joey
After 15 years of gshock, i have found my love in the seiko 5 gmt black grape❤
What a great video, keep it up, super content for someone who is just looking into mechanical watches.
Great to see you back doing longer videos. Your shorts have been amazing regardless but I still hope to see you make more full length videos
Great video but a small correction. Dive bezels aren't used to estimate your remaining air. They are generally used in dive planning to estimate your decompression times. You would hit your max depth in a dive set a bezel to make sure you did not go over your maximum decompression time. Then when the dive was done estimate your residual nitrogen.
Hey love your videos can you make a video specifically for casio edifice ❤
Amazing content I'm a collector now 😅
Love your channel, you've introduced me to some cool new brands I that weren't on my radar. It doesn't hurt that you're so handsome!
Absolutely gorgeous review for beginners at jet speed, thanks
Thanks very much! Glad it was helpful.
The Hamilton Khaki Field Auto is a great watch, but I sold mine because of its one major problem: domed sapphire with no AR coating means whenever you check the time, you're looking into a little fisheye mirror. The dial has some cool texture on it, like a vinyl record, but you can rarely see it through all the glare.
One thing almost no one mentions when talking GMT is the sun compass that´s included. Just set local time on both, direct the 12h finger towards the sun, read north direction from the 24h finger. Not an everydays need, but as itself a powerful function that comes with your GMT watch.
I’m starting to get into watches and have had a blast binging your videos (you have quickly become my go to). With your help, I’ve narrowed my list down to quite a few and would love to get your input on what you would do. In no order I’m thinking about… Orient bambino v2 or v7, seiko presage cocktail time, Tissot gentleman powermatic 80, Tissot PRX quartz, Tissot PRX powermatic 80, Hamilton khaki field murph, seiko alpinist spb249 (I want a classy watch that I can dress up or wear casually). Thanks so much and happy holidays!
Not even looking for a watch RN, but I love listening to your recommendations 😊
Hahahaha, thanks for watching!
❤. Please make a video on the SRPE91.
I just subscribed to excellent video
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful
Undone watches, mr jones, xeric and electrizians...are all fun and querky watches that people would enjoy.
where did you get your Miami painting in the background, I love it
Excellent video. I own all of these brands. Now I'm saving up for a Christopher Ward. Cheers.
Thanks! Good choice. If I had continued this video past the $1,000 mark, Christopher Ward would quite certainly be up there
I bought an Invicta recently, while I get the sermon why it is to be hated, I had the luck to pick one that only loses about 3 seconds a day.
Whats the ref on that Seiko Alpinist on 13:29? Love the Ics Blue dial!
I wish you covered aragon watches, they have some insane specifications, and amazing build quality with original designs.
They'll surely be covered in a future video. I wanted to include well-known brands for beginners just getting into watches, but this is only scratching the surface. More videos to come. :)
@ChronometerCheck I was about to say...! When I first got "serious" about watches, it was overwhelming enough dealing with getting info about the majors, let alone what smaller brands were around some thirty-plus years ago. If I were starting out now, I'd be totally overwhelmed. 😅
@@barrettwbenton Yes, exactly! There's so many watches, and so much information out there, the choices can be very overwhelming.
@@ChronometerCheck Fair point. Really looking forward to your upcoming videos :D
2:07 Does anyone know the reference of this Seiko on the right, with the vintage gold bezel?
Please suggest the best citizen eco drive around 200 USD, also Casio Metal frame G shock around 200 USD
i seen 8 people with prx on a 30 minute walk in the city. its impact is so real xd
My man with another full length video 👏
More to come. :)
@@ChronometerCheck 👏
Would like to add the Bulova Wilton GMT, a true GMT that can be had for arond $600-700 depending on your country.
There is an Indian brand called DWC and it has a really high quality automatic watch with seiko movement and is very affordable for less than hundred dollars.
I never cared for Seiko and after so many years one finally caught my eye. I recently purchased a Seiko Super Cub SRPJ49 and I really like it. The Seiko NATO strap it comes with is really comfortable. However, after not wearing it for 2 days I was reminded of why I prefer Quartz over Automatic. 😂 I’d rather set and forget a watch for the next 5 years than winding it. Although I may go out and purchase that Seiko GMT Batman
Lol, yup! Quartz are definitely perfect for the 'set it and forget it'
I remember when you could get an snk for £80. Thank you seiko for the price bump.
if I wanted to update the bracelet on the Orient Kamasu, what would you recommend?
please answer this question, same qn..
A dive bezel is actually used to track you time at each decompression stop on your way back up so u don't get the Benz from resurfacing to quick
Where do i get the straps from 1:06
An honorable mention under 300 would be the vostok amphibia, you get a dirt cheap watch, work horse inhouse movement, very unique desings, history, a well reputed watch and farly accurate when you send it to calibrate it (aparently the factory doesn't do it).
I agree. They are cheap and they can take a beating. Its the watch I wear daily because I dont have to be afraid to hit it. It has taken so many hits in fact, that I am surprised that it still works. Hasn't been serviced in 6 years and still runs surprisingly well. One minute off every 10-15 days. Watchmaker did a really good job, servicing it. But I have to admit. Those Seikos defenitely look the best to me.
@@notyourbusiness5282 the seiko 5 orange is on my wish list. I got the vostok amphibia 710G02, the dial is absolutelly gorgeous. It also comes with super luminova and a scuba dude engravement on the back
HEY #nkuwan I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
Why no seagull or presage on this list?
Alpinist and PRX two watches for all occasions, you don't need anything else and Gshock ofc haha
How long did you guys needed to get used to the 4 oclock position crown? I didn’t like it when i checked it out in the store.
I liked it as soon as I started wearing it and felt the comfort of not having the crown dig into my wrist but YMMV
It makes better sense ergonomically and took only a few days to unnotice the 4oclock position. Good thing because my favorite watches have this😅.❤seiko
What is your opinion on the Seiko Presage SSA441J1 Green dual? I can get this one for €480,- but I’m also interested in a Tissot PRX with a green dial. But that one’s €780 in the Netherlands. I’m still a student, what do you suggest?
Prices vary, and I'm not sure what watches are usually priced there, but €480 seems like a lot for a Presage tbh
@@ChronometerCheck yeah it does have a open heart, so you can see a small portion of the inside of the Watch
Love the dial on that watch I've had my eye on it for a while. It is £350 in the UK so shop around well worth it but lacks a sapphire dial
Citizen pro Master, the regular version has no Hacking, $200 range. The fugu one has Hacking, twice the price.
Orient dive watches are the only watch you ever need
Pls make One watch collection video.
Yes! Great idea.
Are you opposed to a list of solar quartz, or just quartz watches?
Not opposed at all!
Thumbs up on the Alpinist
well, i am somewhat disconcerted. as i am considering a Bulova Marine Star, and i don't see the brand here.
Just like how some people cannot afford a watch, there are also people with money that can afford but cannot buy a watch that they want. So just relax we all have that one watch that we love but never able to own or a t least not yet.
Where can you find a khaki Auto under 500? I usually find out for 600+
On the Amazon link in the description, it's currently $496 (though that is pre-tax), but I'm in the US so prices may vary based on your location. If you bargain hunt on the used market sometimes you can find it between $3-400
Invicta pro diver titanium automatic...can be had for as little as $100.00...I mean, yeah! Its an invicta , but NH35, titanium and a decent design that mimics the submariner but for what you get at the price with 200m water resistance...its a no brainer as a starter titanium watch. Great video btw, loving the longer more thought out format...although, your shorts are some of the best and informative in YT 😊👍
Also, agree with you on GLYCINE...part of the invicta group BTW...😊
I really appreciate that, thank you! I agree the Invicta Pro Diver is a good pick still. Did not realize they now have titanium versions for $100. WOW
@@ninosalvati379 Yes!
I wonder why there is not any tissot watch on your list
there was two?
Unfortunately, your chances of getting a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto these days is pretty darn low, especially since the MSRP went up in February 2023
You forgot seagull 1963
Suggest a watch for big hands >44
lol dude basically went through my collection
😅😂😂
What about Traska
Zeplin watches?
VAER A5
What happened, why you stop making videos?
What about Chinese watches? Not necessarily homages, they offer great value! And microbrands?? They also offer a great value. Did you mean this to be a video abt bigger known brands?
This is more meant for someone just getting their first automatic watch. So while smaller, microbrands may generally offer better value, I wanted to suggest watches from reputable brands with widely known histories, (hopefully) half-decent customer service, and well-documented movements and/or third-party parts available, in some cases. And this is by no means an all-encompassing list. Think of it as part 1 of a longer stretch.
Not a watch geek but have been wearing a Rotary "Burlington" automatic for the past 2 years. Told the movement is Chinese, very reliable, has saphire glass to front and rear (movement visible)....still available if you search for around £200. Previous watch also a Rotary and quite cheap, lasted many years....speak as you find.
Entry level watches? So if I spend $50 on a Casio Duro, I somehow have an entry level beginner watch. Can someone please explain to me the difference in usable functionality between a $50 Casio Duro and a 8k-40k Rolex Submariner?? And don’t tell me better lume, depth, and movement. I can spend $350 on a Seiko SRPE93 that will rock the socks off a damn Rolex.
Under 500$ for the Hamilton Khaki Automatic ?? I bought mine 1900$ CAD yesterday.... I thing your prices are rong my friend.
❤
Or Seiko and anyone else too stingy to put in a sapphire crystal could show a little decency and treat its customers with a little respect.
Hahaha I agree! Sapphire crystals, please
you’re literally my comfort person i love you #nkuwan !
I don't see any watches just a face of a middle eastern guy
Nope. Save your money and get something better. Seiko watches are hortible in terms of accuracy. Go with Tissot or Hamilton. Move up to Longines, then Omega.
Or you know even if you're ridiculously wealthy you could just not waste your money on pretentiousness and get a good quality automatic watch for less than $2,000. That will get you a great Tissot or any of the brands mentioned even an automatic chronograph. I absolutely hate the word entry level when you're talking about $2,000. To most people in the third world that could easily be years worth of salary. And here we are talking about it as if it's entry level for a timepiece. I make really good money and I could drop the money for a Rolex or an Omega or even more without even thinking about it too much. That said why buy something just to show off to friends when instead you can get almost identical quality for far less. Honestly the level of consumerism on display in the watch community can sometimes disgust. I love collecting all sorts of beautiful watches but I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $150,000 on something I'm going to put on my wrist when I could house somebody for that. Just to be clear if we have a fine complication and you start adding precious metals then yes I can see a platinum watch going for much more as the material costs. I literally watched a video the other day and heard some woman say that Rolex and Omega are entry level watches. I guess unless you're spending millions everything's entry level right?
Tissot is trash
No videos in 9 months?
Great video
