These games look so good but I am worried that over half of these will be delayed into not releasing until 2023 or even 2024. It seems that is the formula with most ambitious games nowadays
Yup I won't complain if they get delayed until 2024 Better wait get than rushed trash
Cant even preorder games nowadays either until we see the final product
People will find ways to complain anyways. Can't please everyone
I’m not complaining about it but yeah there is no way all these games come out this year
Delays are good things
I know most other people absolutely hate and or are sick of open world, but it will always be my favorite sub-genre.
mine too love Open World Games.
Yup had to buy dysmantled today after seeing the how big the map is. Bloody good game too
I used to love them but yea ur right; so sick of them now they are played out af!
I love the too. It's the FPS that I'm sick and tired of.
I got sick because of the far cry series. Playing 3 was great…I got bored midway in 4 and it became unbearable for me in the 5 to the point I didn’t even bother with 6.
Such a diverse list of games! -games that haven't been released yet -games that got successfully released -games that got delayed -games that got released and soon got unreleased -games that have already been given away for free by Epic games.
I quite liked the first Avatar game. It also had an option to defend or take over the planet. Build outposts or something. Quite curious how this game will play out
I think 2022 is one of the first years where we're really gonna see some next gen graphics and I'm hooked for it, especially if used in a medieval fantasy style setting
Crimson desert 🤞
The Demons souls remake was next gen graphics
horizon forbidden west
@@Auxik Demons Souls is the only game that looked "next gen" to me so far, hopefully more games with graphics like that :D
We say that every gen for decades, then in 10 years this stuff will look trash too.
I'm personally super excited for Hogwarts Legacy. I'm not even a big Harry Potter fan but I KNOW for a fact that the entire concept of Harry Potter sounds like the best open world rpg idea ever
I was hyped for it too until i found out it was single player only :(
@@johnmurray1207 Same. The multiplayer would ba amazing but I'm also kinda glad that there isn't one for now. There's rumors that they might add it later on to prolong the game's lifespan tho. But for now, I'm super glad that it doesn't have multiplayer because that just means that the game, missions and story are being developed the way that is intended by the developers. No need to have an entire cosmetic store that revolves around the entire game and useless boring filler missions made for grinding the game's currency. Or at least, that's the way I see it considering all of the awful multiplayer games we've been getting, including rdr2
indeed
you folks cannot even emerge into fantasy world story alone you need to be able to play it with your grandma ?
@@kinidiosodlosios6892 i do not find single player games enjoyable nor interesting is the reason
I was a beta tester for State of Decay. Back before vehicles even had storage. Had to use the "rucks in trucks" mod and place each ruck into your truck and drive them back really slowly to your base. If you hit things out drove too fast they would fly out and you'd have to stop to put them back in but you'd also need to pull your truck up to something you could stand on to get into the back of the truck. Was fun but frustrating. Nice to see how far the game has come.
Open World Games still looking good for this year because of its innovation and fast maturing features just like in DreamsQuest right now as they continue developing their dreams like an environment where everyone can have an immersive experience.
Dokev looks like something that Pokemon should have been for this generation. This looks just plain amazing. I wouldn't mind cutting down the numbers of Pokemon to a reasonable number and make a world that look this fucking good.
Lets see what Legends: Arceus produces in just over a week. Obviously won't be as good looking as Dokev, but we can be hopeful.
Lmao they trimmed down dex for SnS and people went crazy. They're not gonna do that. Besides Pokemon is not a crazy gameplay type of game. It's for kids. You expect way too much.
@@knightenchanter7908 they should just stick with 1st gen pokemon that is more tha enough
A lot of you Pokémon fans are being hella ungrateful man
For over a decade we didn’t even have 3D main series games we just had snap and stadium n what not
I didn't realize how good of a year this was going to be for open world games.
Not just for open world but games in general from xbox, playstation and switch it gotta be a wild year

Thanks for your time and work on this video. Awesome job!
Ironically I'm interested in Avatar because its a game that may actually benefit from Ubisofts open world methodology. In their other games it's problematic because its usually so slow to get from point to point, but unless they scale the world in Avatar to be ridiculously big, being able to fly around it would support the size of the world. Sure, itll probably still have the issue of having repetitive locations and so on, but I can deal with that.
I don’t feel that way at all. I think Avatar will be great. But I love the ghost recon games, I really like the division, assassins creed. I think it’s just cool to hate on big gaming comps for some odd reason.
Ubisoft's open worlds are fucking dire though.
@@JohnDee633 my opinion (or atleast pre-release excitement) of big gaming comps in general has gone down. It feels like so many games are coming out that just bring nothing new to the table, and this is especially true for Ubisoft. I'm not going to tell anyone else what they should think about certain games or their respective companies, but for me I just think Assassins creed and Far cry is a very tired out game template which Ubisoft have - similar to series like CoD or Fifa which bring very little new and original things to the table. Although a lot of my all time favourite games are perhaps quite niche, like Factorio, Kenshi and Mount & Blade so maybe its just that my tastes don't align with the mainstream.
I wish the video would have told us which platforms these games would be featured on.
@@oasistu As someone that has played just about everything, personally I feel like there's a time and place to play that predictable AAA stuff too,. For me co-op gameplay is my number one thing I require more than it needing to be a novel masterpiece. My 8 year old just played Fifa 22 on PS5 for first time. He was floored by how exciting it was. Despite loving them, these days I don't have much time to play games, much less by my lonesome. I need to get some quality time in with my buddy or my son as well. That said, I freaking LOVED Assassin's Creed Black Flag. The seafaring and ship combat was just so much freaking fun. So I'm really looking forward to Skull and Bones... if it ever comes out and has co-op of course.
Dying Light Two is my most anticipated. I hope they deliver and don’t release it broken. I’ll be waiting with ‘bated breath for the reviews. I’m even replaying the first one now in anticipation.
That's why techland delayed it an extra 2 months it was to fix as many bugs and glitches as possible
I think it looks gorgeous and I'm definitely gonna give it a try although I had my problems with the first. I'm really struggling when it comes to 1st person parkour, had to stop the first game after 10-12 hours, got quite frustrated. Same for me was with the 2 Dishonored games, started both, quit both half way through, for me 1st person and stealth is not working either, sadly. The last Deus Ex was just playable enough for me due to the shooting sections, and I eventually finished it.
@@anthonygraham1853 Lets hope it’s good.
@@DeadVoivod I know what you mean. I was frustrated at first with the first one. I would be stood there jumping at a wall and not grabbing the ledge. Then I realised you have to literally look at everything you want to grab on to. Then once I figured that out the game and parkour became easier and much more fluid. I’d be travelling really quickly over the map, with familiarity helping even more.
@@stanettiels7367 i hope so to i really liked the first one
I feel like this is just a me thing but I love open world rpgs. I think their amazing with their creativity, imagery, and adventure. The only thing I personally dislike and find it hard to game is First person vs Third person view. Idk what it is but I feel like some games in the open world RPG realm deserve a Third person option with POV scroller. Idk maybe it’s just me but me personally I’d be a more variety gamer if this small thing was added to most/all open world games.
Fantastic presentation here!! Suddenly 2022 looking a little brighter :D

In terms of graphics, I've never seen so many great looking games. It seems we have truly entered into the next Gen.
^^^^^ the racing games also have insane graphics now , the next gen consoles are just insane
Games? You mean pre-renders? Wait till the games come out, most of them won't look as good as they did in the trailers or "gameplay" footage.
@@LuckyStrikeLT true true , FH5 has some pretty impressive graphics though
@@LuckyStrikeLT yea yea yea.. but they gonna look wicked. It doesn’t take much imagination to understand these games will look flippin good on the current gen systems.

So far out of these Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, Sonic Frontiers, Test Drive Solar Crown, Elden Ring, Pokemon Legends Arceus and Crimson Desert have my interest
Incredible stuff being developed. Look forward to more of these being released

@karonic ゝ and yet, here you are. clicking on their video.
@karonic ゝ well unfortunately for you now by clicking on this video you made the great and glorious Al Gorithm think you want to see more. Best thing to do is ignore it.
@karonic ゝ Commenting about your frustration is commenting. Clicking a video to comment about your frustration is still clicking. I know it sounds like a piece of circlejerk advice but it's the only thing you can do: don't click the videos and avoid any interaction with the channel. You're just signaling the algorithm to feed you more videos from (insert channel name), the algorithm doesn't care if you're just here for the 20 seconds to complain about the channel being in your recommended all the time, it cares about you clicking the video and commenting on it. I would make an analogy with something from real life but it's something that shouldn't be joked about
@40k0FF Are you what they call a “PosiTroll”?
I would love an open world mystery like sherlock, or conan solving murders in a setting of a different earth like on the the 50s vibe but in year 3000. Seems like fun 😆
I second this ^

LA Noir is exactly this
@@aleksp1107 "but in year 3000"
How can there be a 50’s vibe if it’s set in the future? Surely that defeats the purpose of it being set in the future in the first place?
Thank you for this! I'm sad that so many of them are sci-fi or zombie type games. I'm definitely more of a fantasy player, and I think maybe two on this list even caught my attention. Definitely going to have to check out Elden Ring, though.
I wish days gone would have a sequel or a prequel, maybe have boozer and deacon trying to escape the city after Sarah was taken on the chopper, or do a follow up game where Sarah and deacon have to save boozer after he got kidnapped or something 🥰🐶
Im looking forward to playing Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, Starfield, State of Decay 3, The Day Before, and Ark II. What a year this will be for Open World games. Hopefully we wont get a lot of delays!
When is the day before coming ?
@@N2music4lyfe June 21st 2022 if no additional delays.
You'll get 2 of those. It took 5 years and a new console to ALMOST run Ark properly and it's still 60 FPS.
@@floatinggoose9197 ARK running properly on consoles? Not even after almost 7 (seven!) years. On many occasions I was stating it's performance in spf instead of fps. Graphicly their last free expansion did put it in utter origami hell. As long as they can't even make this game benefit from the new gen SSD's on consoles I have little hope they can master UE5... Hell, they are even strugling getting their version numbers correct! ARK is a brilliant concept, butchered by poor project management and I doubt the successor is ready for launch this year.
This year is very promising. I'm so hyped for Elden Ring, Starfield and especially Forspoken. Also I haven't heard about the Sonic game until now. Might be something to keep an eye on
Forspoken is PlayStation exclusive

I like zombie games! Dying light 2 is brilliant, only thing that could make it better is if the choices made more of a difference and there were more endings 🤔 I’m sure there are other things but that is my main issue with it now 🥰
I love watching your videos about the games coming out or they've already come out we may have missed. I mean pull up the market place all yoire gonna see is GOW, minecraft, RD2, GTAV, and hella anime games.

Great list. Never heard of Dokev, but the art style looks amazing. Kind of looks like a little kid GTA game, but not based in reality. That and Crimson Desert I might have to keep an eye on. Kind of want to try all of these, but the reality is I might only be able to play a few. Dying Light 2 and Gotham Knights have my interest now, maybe Saints Row if the character creator is good. I will get to Breath of the Wild 2 eventually since the original is my favorite game of all time. A lot of people are down on Rockstar, but I think the GTA 5 Expanded Edition is going to shock people. I'm imaging the game is going to be like if the game came out this year instead of 2013. It might have some new bells and whistles people aren't expecting.
I think Dokev looks amazing, too. Most of these look very safe and generic, but that one looks innovative. I don't think that Sonic in an open world will work. Unless fans are willing to not do normal sonic things.
DokeV looks really beautiful, I'm eagerly waiting for it. But I'm surprised Pokemon Legends Arceus not on this list😁
Any of these games are single player focused or most or all of them are multiplayered
Elden Ring, Forbidden West are all I'm looking forward to. Crazy they're coming out so close to each other assuming no delays.
Wish it was at least a month between them, for once I can't actually pick which one I want to play more, not even on a micro level, it really is a tie. I mean the follow-up to HZD? I mean the next From game but in an open world?

Man i just love games i got out of them in my 20s but came back big time in my 30’s. Been playing horizon forbidden west and having a lot of fun but its really Elden Ring I’m waiting for even though I suck at souls/borne games.
Awesome list, can’t wait, I already own some of these and refuse to play til I beat its predecessor.
Horizon Zero Dawn is a modern masterpiece. I had been struggling to get into a "big game" for a while, but Horizon sucked me in and I kept playing it near daily until I 100%'d it. Needless to say, Forbidden West is BY FAR my most anticipated game.
It's really immersive
Question: I’ve been wanting to try Zero Dawn and I’m on the verge of buying it. Is it worth it? Does it have a solo player story line? Sorry for the questions, I’ve don’t some research on it. But I was also trying to get peoples feedback and opinions on it. Any feedback is appreciated!
@@prestonm9890 yes it's a single player game with a great story. The world itself is really immersive. As for if u should buy it or not it totally depends on one's taste. Watch some gameplay on KZhead and then decide yourself
@@osamabashir5646 I appreciate the feedback. I have been watching videos and it seems really cool and something I would like. I play all kinds of games. But I am mainly looking for a solo player game I can really get into. Thank you for the info!
Its dutch thats why.
Hogswart Legacy is also expected this yr, it's looks super cool ❤️
lego star wars is nestolgia, so many of us can still remember playing lego star wars as kids, its probably the one im looking forward to the most and i will be playing it with rose tinted glasses.
Hmm, not exactly open world, but I do anticipate Project Eve. I love me some hack and slash.
I’m seriously excited for sonic open world game. Looks incredible
Yooo Doki-V or however you spell it, the game sitting at #17 looks like a very fun game!
This list aged poorly.
It did.... It did!!
No kidding💀
You're awesome, Jake! Youre one of my favorite hosts from any youtube gaming channel! Keep up the great work! And loving these lists that all you guys at gameranx are putting together! 👏👏👏 And with that, I can't contain my excitement for Dying Light 2 anymore! I need it! Like... today
Thanks

I would rather an “it was all a dream” reboot of the saints row franchise pushing it back to SR2 or SR3 than this upcoming remake.
The Day Before looks right up my street. May have to treat myself to a PS5, just have the PS4 atm.
Request: Can you make the Number System in Dark Mode? I'm blinded each time it's going from a dark gameplay to a bright number splash screen.
Games that I look forward the most: 1. STALKER 2 ( definitely will put lots of hours into it if it's going to be close to the original ones, after it got announced I even lost interest in GTA 6 :D ) 2. Dying Light 2 ( not as exciting as STALKER but also has potential for lots of hours of fun ) 3. Atomic Heart ( hope it won't be super linear ) 4. The Day Before ( not sure what it's about but if it's nothing like The Division and more realism focused then I'm in ) 5. Crimson Desert, Forspoken, Harry Potter looks equally promising.
Avowed gives me the dark messiah vibes, let's hope I'm right. that game was amazing
