@JordanHetrick Hey man wicked explanation and straight to the point What's the widest field of view to use that has the least amount of fisheye look? I like GoPro's linear look but it's very narrow Does the X4 improve on this and if so, what's the best fov to use ??

GREAT vid! We just got one of these to film our off road adventures (stepping up from a GoPro Hero 360). One note, I def prefer the x3 bag's exterior (@05:11) vs the one that came with the x4 (neoprene exterior).

I have heard, in the near future you will be able to listen/record multiple headset communications on this device. I can’t find any information on the pre-recording video. Do you have any insight? How much time can you set it for? Does it work in all modes (like slow motion video).The feature is listed on their website, but I can’t find anyone going over that info. Thanks :)
Hi Jordan. Probably a silly question but if you have the x4 fitted to the selfie stick and extended to 1m+, how do you start the recording?
Could it be used for a 2 person interview instead of having to use 2 cameras for capturing both speakers ?
Can you power it on the usb-c alone, continuously? How much 8k footage can you get on a micro sd card?
do you know if you can export the "Edit Data" (Keyframes...etc) from the mobile app and save to a memory card so you can edit on the desktop? You can do this on the X3 by clicking on the "Edit Data" tab, but on the X4 it does not appear this tab is there?

The X3 has a quick recording feature, but it is exclusive only to the 5.7K 360 mode. Does the X4 have a quick recording feature in single-lens mode (such as 1080p mode, single lens)?
Freeframe may be the reason this camera works for me, and this is a good example of why they probably added the feature. I record in 4:3 with my GoPro for MTB videos. When going down steep sections or just riding flats, the camera angle changes (chest mounted camera - the chin mount is less of a problem though). The top to bottom viewpoint is very important so that you get the proper ratio of MTB to sky. Too much of either ruins the video, and it's hard to nail that down perfectly in 16:9 to accommodate all the angles in a day's ride. Adjusting the camera physically during the ride is impractical and just guesswork to fit the location. But 4:3 allows more flexibility and forgiveness top to bottom, and you can choose where you want to cut it to 16:9 ratio in post, and at 4K resolution. Much easier to get the perfect shot that way. The problem with filming in 360 has always been that reframing the giant perspective and zooming in for a natural, less distorted look kills the resolution far too much, leaving a choice of either distorted or low quality images. Maybe the 8K 360 is that much better and fixes the issue of quality on zoom, but I kind of doubt it's quite enough. But the 4K Freeframe should essentially allow 4:3 shooting and 4K framing choice in post. Very cool. I had mostly abandoned 360 filming the past couple of years due to those issues (and constantly scratching expensive lenses) and not wanting to carry around 2 camera systems. The freeframe, 8k, and reasonable lens guards hopefully will fix all of that, and it will be awesome to have both 360 capability and MTB-usable 4k action cam in one. Will allow more variety because I love shooting in 360 as well for lots of applications.

I recommend the standard selfie stick for most activities. The 3m selfie stick is great for invisible drone shots, but the larger diameter handle tends to show up a bit more in your hand for those invisible selfie stick shots. 👍👍

Great video. Please change the video starting at 53 seconds as you show the camera resting unprotected on the lens on a hard surface. New people might scratch their lens if they do what you show (Even though later you show how to protect the lens). Thank you.
Thanks for the comment. The camera has the protective plastic on the lenses straight out of the box. Hopefully, as long as people follow the steps, they will also follow my tips to protect those lenses.

Do you have any footage comparing premium lens quard to a standard one to back it up what you said that the premium are a little bit better ? Most reviews claim that the premium once are actually wors with sun glare

Does the single lens mode still shoot in a 360 way? meaning do you still have to frame the subject?
In single lens mode, whatever you see in the camera's view through one of the lenses is what will be recorded. There is no changing the view after you record. I hope that makes sense. 👍

What about the buttons - below the power and right of shutter button ? I've ordered mine.
I showed those in the beginning of the Camera tour in this video. On the side is the Quick button for presets. The button next to the Shutter can be used to scroll through modes and also can be customized.
Where can I buy?
Do single lens will make longer recording compare to double lens recording? And its same on memory usage as well
The files require much less memory for single lens videos. Both can record for extended periods without overheating (if that is what you meant), unless you are recording in 8k 360 video.
What´s better for motorbike? 5.7K 60fps or the new one 5.7K+ 30fps? 8K I guess it´s maybe too much for tik tok videos
How come when I edit my 360 8K footage in premiere, it looks great, but when it's uploaded to KZhead, even selecting 4K res, it looks like shit and blurry on outside edges?
Low light which is better pocket 3 , x4 , ace pro ??
I have not done enough side by side comparison yet in low light with the Ace Pro, but I feel like the Ace Pro might have the upper hand. But, like I said, I still need to test out that comparison more before giving a final verdict.
If scuba diving is your thing don’t buy the X4. The X4 has a dive case preset which has 8K video. Today I wanted to try my new dive case during a snorkel. I was surprised that it stopped because of ‘over heating’. Or so it notified. Very frustrating for sure. I suspect this overheating problem will be ironed out in the X5.

Haha yes of course you always want to protect your lenses. But in situations where the lens is not at risk, you will get better quality and an easier filming experience without the lens guards.
How is the low light performance?
I show a few low light clips in my X3 vs X4 comparison video. It's improved with the low light stabilization setting, but still not amazing. This camera is definitely designed more for daylight.
why can I not find a way to transfer files from camera to PC i plugged it in and nothing happens but charging
there's a special little trick, after plugging in you have to turn camera on and let it sync up also, Do Not unplug camera without either turning it off first and waiting for it to turn red again, or ejecting it from PC. to be safe, I do both after losing a ton of footage trying to figure out what should clearly be stated inside the manual
Is this thing only can take video or can this take photos too?
The X4 can take 360 photos and regular photos. The 360 photos are 72MP and really fun for capturing multiple perspectives from a single photo.

Sorry, but Bullet Time mode is overrated. Noone uses it except the reviewers and influencers :P Also, there is a new 5.7K+ added since last update ;)
tech tip: if you are on wifi and geo bi-directionally block russia the app wont work properly. either disable block or just block incoming ;-)
When shooting video in HDR mode it does not allow you to do 8K. It lowers to 5.7k

The tutorial is great, but the 360-reframed footage looks quite bad. It is much better than X3, but it is like for short shots, before you can see, it looks bad. So, I found all these reviews and tutorials very much deceiving. I´m talking from my experience, owning X4.
Thank you, but I disagree that the reframed footage looks bad. If you zoom in too far, it can look bad, but it really depends on how you edit the 360 videos. The X4 is capable of producing really high quality, clear reframed videos.
@@JordanHetrick@JordanHetrick If so, so why there is none in your examples? I do not compare with DLRS, but it is still far from e.g. GoPro. Why are you deceiving even more? "Really high quality, clear videos"? If you try hard, shoot still without movement, in golden hour, pointing lens on the subject yes maybe. I just compare footage from DJI pocket 3 and it is day and night diference without editing. I'm not saying you cannot have great shoots with X4, but you you tubers should show how it will look for average Joe. But if you want sell something, you always show it in the best scenario.
Let me bounce in and let you all know most people buy the most affordable cell phones, most people overload their cell phones with files . Most your audience won't care about anything over 1080p
In fact on a really poor cell phone 4k and up still looks 780
good comparison with the x3, as a x3 owner the x4 is a flop and a pass for me....i'll wait for the DJI action 5 to come out at a much lower price point. x4 is over priced for the poor image quality you get with the same crappy 1/2" sensor as the x3. zero low light improvement with some crappy AI image enhancements. in the meantime I just plan to use my x3 in single lens mode to capture 4K, but I think I am done with 360 cams for the poor quality video it renders in the end. the rendered video of the x4 will just be 2k rendered if that, there is no way it's even near 4k, so not sure why all the tubers keep saying it is? I suppose someone (you) could to a real comparion with x4 render video with action 4 true 4K video side by side. I would be interested to see this, both in low light and fast motion scenarios. something that actually pushes the limits and tests quality using action.
