💎Bid and Ask Quantity interpretation - Total Buying volume and Selling Volume
This video explains the use of bid and ask quantity in finding the market direction. This is very useful method for day traders to find the market direction. The total buying and selling volume available in order book can reveal the institution/fund house trades. This video explains the basics of order book, market depth, institution way of placing orders and how to find the active buy / sell trades.
The trading volume is simply made of executed buy and sell order. But the total pending buy order and sell order can also be use by intraday traders to access the market sentiment.
The buy order which are placed at ask price or above is considered as active buy order. It also indicates the aggressive nature of buyer.
The sell order which are placed at bid price or below is considered as active sell order. It also indicates the aggressive nature of seller
The participation of aggressive buyers and sellers makes the market to move up and down. Hence, this way of interpreting the order book can help you in judging the market direction.

You rightfully suspect the DOM but you fail to understand what the DOM is. The DOM is only unfilled retail orders. There are NO institutional orders there and only institutional orders move price. Institutional orders are filled with the retail orders you see there on the DOM. So on a normal trading day the bid and ask will remain about equal. However on a big up day what you will see is in fact the volume on the ask (sell) side is considerably larger. The most false assumption made regarding the DOM is that the bid side is matched with the ask side. Those orders are never matched or filled with each other. Really simply because the DOM is only retail data it is useless to retail traders. What traders need but will never get is institutional Data. Good luck.
Advanced quiz : New buyer of 13000 quantity entered. 10k already bought. We seen the depth when other 3000 orders are being processed. This is confirmed by increase of traded quantity by 10k and decrease of seller by 10k. Another reason is that , as you mentioned strong hands won't stand in the queue, so they are buying at market price.

Mr Murugan - Would be great if you can correct my interpretation. Q6 - There is a increase in passive bidders by 3000 quantity and the same is reflecting @284.80 while the asking quantity has reduced by 10000 due to filling of selling orders at market price. There are two possibilities in this scenario. Option 1 - as the quantity is no so big, it could be done by a retailer through disclosed qunatity. Thus it indicates there could be a mild bearish movment Option 2 - Very Important. if such a small qunatiy is used by FII/DII , it might be an indication that the orders are used for testing the abosrption by buyers, so that more quantity can be dumped. This clearly indicates that the DII/FII are getting themselves ready to dump and flood the market with supply.
Fii may have algo written to split orders to distribute across the day..

Quiz 7 does not give any indication regarding direction. Both buy side and sell side have total quantity greater than the traded quantity. Which means the traded quantity can be on buy side or sell side and the remaining could be passive orders.

this is the video I'm looking for and Mr.Murugan is like our typical maths teacher hehe which i like it so much by the way of teaching with quiz, i understood this session because of his quiz works. sharing this to my contacts
In my view, Buy & Seller information is also reliable factors whether to buy or sell....but it is not a single factor and you also have to consider other factors like candle patterns in order to determine whether to buy or sell... I usually do is, whenever there is a strong demand by a huge margin as compared to seller as well as considering candles patterns then it is very very safe to buy a stock. The demand should be stronger by atleast 50, 000 as compared to seller. If difference from buyer to seller as well as seller to buyer remian like 45,000 to 5000 the candles patterns is usually like ups and downs for sometime. Whenever there is sudden rush of demand as you can also see this is candles patterns in both one and two minutes duration. That's is time to buy....it happen with me on Friday....I was on loss on Rs 700 and sold. Later around 1 PM suddenly the demand was shooting up so I buy and immediately I book a profit of about Rs 1100.....my total capital is Rs 6500. I really consider this as one of important factor including candles patterns.... Excercise: Go to the individual stock chart and switch to 2 mins duration. Then hover your mouse on each candles one by one and observe the total quantity difference on top......you will see that whenever stocks goes up the demand is also High.... Also important factor: Buy & Sell should be quick..... shouldn't take much time....I do trading in cellphone.... 👍👍👍👍

Key Learning - watch strong hands through quantity traded + impact on price (other wise buyer/seller in que are irrelevant when traded quantity is constant). Only buyer/seller decrease with increase in traded quantity will mean helicopter entry of strong hands. Stronghands reducing buyers only means they have sold (bearish) & Vice-versa.

A basic doubt, Murugan. At 12:08 in the video u have explained that 50k sell qty disappeared and bought by strong hands at market prices. When 50k is bought, will it not result in cheaper price quotes disappearing first. In other words, what is the sequence in how the buy quantity is filled up? Thanks for the excellent video.

I have a query: when an institution buys a large quantity @ market price, the traded quantity increases by that number. The traded quantity should come from the sellers, which should affect not only the Total quantity on the sell side, but it should also reduce the sell qty at all the sell prices shown in the table. And as the buy quantity is very large as compared to the sell quantities at all the sell prices shown in the table, the sell prices should move up-word. Why the sell prices and sell quantities in the table are remaining static? From where the traded quantity is supplied from seller's side? Do you mean to say that the market buy order is being fulfilled by a matching sell order @ market price?

My understanding after seeing this video is that all FIIs place IOC type of orders. This means that these are market orders and will not find a place in the market depth table . Is it ok?

Q7: There were 10k active sellers... Others were passive sellers and 10k passive buyers.. Interpretation is bearish
Q7 I can clearly see there is a big drop in bid and ask quantity. Yes there is a trade of 10000 quantity can be of any side. Hope you like the video also share this in Facebook or WhatsApp so that we get to reach more interested people

Answer 1. Aggressive selling of 10k shares happened. 10k buying order has been cancelled and 2.5 lakh selling order has been cancelled. Answer 2. Aggressive buyers bought 10k shares. 20k buying order has been cancelled and 2.4 lakhs selling order is also cancelled. (Not sure about quiz 7)

Through market window in general only top five is available. But it seems now zerodha going to launch depth of 20 for the clients. Hope it can be lot more details on market depth.
