This saved my child's life today. Her grandma let her have a Dorito. I came to pick her up and she was walking and eating her chip when all the sudden she began to choke. Typically, she will choke on things for a second and spit them our but this time was different. She was getting no air out at all, and was repeatedly trying to dislodge it. I intervened immediately, slapping her back a bit, which didn't work, I then remembered the video I watched when she was born so I could prepare my self for this in case it ever happened. Layed her stomach down on my forearm, head between my fingers, and slapped her back between the shoulder blades and the chip flew right out. Thank goodness for these videos, they literally saved my daughter's life today, im sure I probably lost a few years off my life from the stress it caused me.
thanks god for that
Thank goodness for that. Glad she is alright now
Thank god
Awesome work! Way to be prepared. Hope your little one is still doing well.
what a wonderful story. thanks for sharing
I don’t have a child. I just want to learn, if it ever comes in handy.
me too
Same here
You’re one of the good ones
You're amazing

To everyone watching this: don't worry about the blows being too hard, you MUST strike quite forcefully. Breaking a rib is acceptable to losing a life.
I heard that in the adult one I just watched I can’t imagine how a baby would feel breaking a rib. I wonder what the recovery would be like
A little different but my son actually disconnected my rib from my spine when I was at the end of my pregnancy with him. He was large and high. I actually would never have known if I wasn’t going to the chiropractor and she feel it and pop it back in! If this does happen, the thing you can do a lot about is the swelling and that’s what will be causing a lot of the pain. If you think you broke your child’s bone (or if he has swelling anywhere) make a POTATO POULTICE. Watch a video now on it and be amazed. Barbra O’Neill has many home remedy videos!
@@ashleypate1349 I didn’t know a rib could just be popped back into a spine so that’s another thing to remember when we have a baby. Thanks for the tips too!

@@ashleypate1349 so happy to see someone referring to Barbara O’Neil, shes great!!
I can’t even watch this without getting anxiety but I wanted to learn just in case I’m ever in this situation with my son.
and the word "hopefully" only makes the anxiety worse...
I’m crying watching it, I cannot even imagine if I ever had to use it. But I’m glad to be prepared
Same !
I promise you that you will have to perform this and all i can say is breath and remain calm. If your frantic you will not be able to focus on the task at hand which is the most important moment of your life. My daughter is only two days old and weve had to perform this multiple times as a result of choking on mucus and amniotic fluid. You can do this dad!
I know same!! It makes me panic cry too watching it
This same thing saved my newborns life multiple times choking on mucus and amniotic fluid from when she was born. Classes like these should be made free to parents at the hospital before release.
I agree. Instead they give us classes on how to change baby's diaper SMH
They aren’t?! In the states almost every hospital offers free “birthing” classes leading up to birth. Usually once a week for 4 or 5 weeks. I agree, this should be offered at no charge. Our labor and delivery nurses do the classes.
@@katiejon17 most hospitals offer free parenting classes as well that are SO GOOD! Even if you’ve read every book and raised siblings and even other children of your own, they are still very beneficial and informative.
@@katiejon17 I had my baby at a large hospital in a metro area in the US and I had to pay for the classes. They didn't actually cover choking at all. They covered the basics of SIDS, swaddling, nursing, bathing, etc.
I was very surprised by how little advice the hospital gives you after your child is born lol.
This kind of education should be given to every parents and their family members ❤️
Maybe they can give out DVD ?
As an RN - I REALLY appreciated the simple animations to show what is happening *inside*. Thank you!
Every parent should know this technique. As a Pediatrician I always teach it to parents.
My pediatrician never taught me this for my babies. That bothers me a lot. Thank you for teaching this to parents.
Since i have a newborn im gonna watch this everyday, he scared me the other day🥺it's so hard having anxiety
This saved my 10 months old baby girl. I vowed to share theses techniques to anyone who will listen for the rest of my life.
I'm back here to say thank you my baby was choke yesterday with a biscuit his father gave him and I grab my baby to him and start doing this and yes thanks GOD it came out easy ..I was relief this video help a lot ❤️
Wow... GRET JOB!! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BABY!!
OMG! that happened a few days ago for my baby niece.!! I was literally terrified. she became almost red. there was no one nearby except for me that moment and thanks god I could help her spill the juice out by several back blows. she was out of breath for seconds and those seconds cannot get out of my head. I was so terrified. I do not know what I would have done if something bad happened to my precious baby. I even cannot imagine. I would never forgive myself. every time I remember what happened, I become very sad and just want to apologize . I don't know to who but that is what I am feeling. she is soo precious to me. I love her so so much. I wish no one would see his baby or child choking ever ...Allah protects and save your kids.
This is the best Video with a simulation video so we could cleary understand what the chest pressure is. thank you so much
you are welcome!
My son just found a quarter and choked. My husband saved him and I broke down knowing I had no idea how to help him. Thank god for my husband.
Don't beat yourself up over it . Loads of parents myself included wouldn't know what to do . Watch some of these videos and if possible go on a peadactric first aid course . Thank God your child was saved , take care .
Thanks for this video. I'm from Malaysia. My baby just turn 8mth. Terrible accident happened today. Luckily I remember the tips and saved his life. I'm alone and almost lost my mind from panick. Sorry for bad grammar
Really hope this information is never useful to me...but will also never forget. Thank you.
I had to do it today, saved my baby's life. Always be prepared.
This saved my babys life too yesterday. Before reaching hospital I could revive him n he was stable...Thank you so much. God bless everyone behind ths video😢❤❤
This is decent instruction and more or less shows the correct way to treat a choking baby. I am an EMT and American Heart Association CPR instructor and would recommend that EVERYONE get trained in these life saving techniques. Bravo for taking the time to create this video but it doesn't take the place for actual in person training where you get to use a CPR dummy and try the techniques and then ask questions, etc. On a different note, I teach CPR at my fire station to certify the guys and then teach family and friends more or less for free (there is a cost for the certification cards that I pass onto them but otherwise I don't charge anything). It amazes me how some people are so opposed to being trained. These are life saving measures that can really be the difference between life and death prior to EMS arrival. Everyone should take a class in CPR and first aid in my opinion. When my son was probably 2, he started choking on a toy. I remember the horror when I looked over and saw the look on his face. I wasn't trained then but I jumped up and did back blows and he quickly spit the object out and started crying. My mom was already on the phone with 911 and had the fire department on their way. They checked him out and thankfully he was ok. He's 26 now :) You never know when you will be the only one that can help. This was actually why I became an EMT. I didn't want to be that guy stating there in a panic with no idea what to do in an emergency. I got AHA BLS CPR certified, got my NREMT and became a CPR instructor really just for the knowledge. It was only afterward that the opportunity to join the fire department as a volunteer EMT came up. I figured "what the hell?" and joined. If I can do 911 response then I'll have the skills to help someone when it happens at the mall, store, whatever. I used these skills once to save my mom when she started choking at lunch. I was also able to diagnose a cardiac issue with my step father and get him to the hospital. Now I'm also a volunteer firefighter and enjoy helping people in need. Get trained... you can save a life and it might even be your own.
For a 2 year old you have their head lower than their bottom for the baxk blows too? When do you switch to regular Heinrich
@@eminemilly Yes the head is generally lower than the body... you get a little bit of a "gravity assist" that way. As for the Heimlich, I think that is a judgement call based on how big the child is. You don't want to do it on a smaller child like an infant. If they are a normal sized 2 year old then you can just go right to using Heimlich-style abdominal thrusts. Remember that it is only used for patients who are conscious. As soon as they go unconscious, you switch to CPR chest compressions with the modification of when you do breaths, you look inside the mouth to see if the obstruction can be safety removed. NEVER do blind finger sweeps though since you could push the obstruction deeper down the airway. Take a class... get trained... be prepared!
The dislodging mechanics are pretty spot on but I just wanted to add that you should never hold a choking baby nonchalantly like that. They squirm and fight and will wrestle out of your arms. You need to aggressively pin their legs to your body while you perform these actions. Else you may likely drop them on their head. Before you turn them, put them in a "claw grip": One hand on the face and forearm on the chest, place the other hand on the back of the head and forearm on the back. Both hands and forarms pressing together firmly. Once turned, aggressively pin the baby back to your body.
This is a great point. Had to do this to my son and was really surprised at how he squirmed and wanted to be held upright!
Thanks for your addition. This comment need to be pinned, I think.
Read it many times still couldn't understand 😢
I would call out to the nearest person to call emergency services while you are doing this. Don't wait until you know it's not working. No time to waste. Even if you get it out, better safe than sorry.
This video is very useful. I don't understand why some people dislike this. I wish this wouldn't happen to their babies.
I’ve probably watched this video 5 times since my son started eating. Thank you for the information
Very happy to see that there were no adds before the video starts. Good job KZhead!
I’m so glad this video doesn’t have any ads.
Thanks for the video! Must watch for every parent and guardian. Just saved my toddler, thank God.
My little boy was just choking, I did the back one. I was nervous, and my 4 year was crying and screaming. I'm glad I learned this years ago.
Something every parent should know. Thank you BRC.
Thank you. As a Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Instructor, this video will be perfect to show my students / send as reference material for the future.
im getting a baby sister in September and will be babysitting her when shes 3 months old almost every day so I wanted to know how to do this in case it ever happens and I'm grateful how in-depth it is
ThankYou British Red Cross for showing the Video with Simulation...so that people know what happens clearly when you apply those Methods. Appreciated.
This is one of the reasons why KZhead is good.
This is very good to know. It’s actually critical to know this as a parent.
i lost my 2 months old baby due to choking on his own saliva. The baby sitter was so panicked that she forgotten what to do though she is a certified nurse before retired 3 years ago. He was my only son after waiting for so long. Still mourning and I tried very hard to move on. Only God knows....
I'm so sorry you lost your baby! That is horrible. Babies don't usually choke on their saliva...did the babysitter explain how this happened? Hugs to you.
Am so sorry Irama.. I am a new mom myself and this is one of the most horrifying part of motherhood. Sending hugs to you 🫂
A certified nurse who dealt with traumatic things most likely every day on the job panics while watching your baby that is some crazy shit
I’m praying for your healing.
Thank you so much for this! My son was just choking on mucus and wouldn’t let me suck it out. But the first motion helped get some of it out then calmed him down to let me suction all the snot strings that were hanging out of his nose. I was literally panicking and thank goodness KZhead was my first thought. Second child and first time experience with real choking ☹️😭
Thank you! I always like to brush up on remembering what to do every so often- this is perfect! 💯
I’m doing a babysitting course at school and I’m learning first aids for children. This helps me a lot.
I must’ve watched this about a millions times, my baby is nearly ready for weaning and I’m petrified of choking 😢
I'm in the same boat, about to try thicker foods than purees and I'm nervous af about this.
Same...he's 7 months and the only thing stopping me from feeding him is my fear lol poor kid ..hoping learning these techniques make me feel better but ... actually making it worse I think lol
Thank you so much for sharing this valuable knowledge
This video deserved to be liked.
Thank you so much for the tip it's very needy for the newborns
My professors used this video as part of our BLS training course. Thanks!
Excellent presentation and lifesaving information. Should be mandatory viewing for parents.
Thank you so much. This is really helpful.
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you for making this much needed and useful video.God bless
I just watched this because i am worried about my little sister, she like's eating a big candy, so if the time come i can literally save him from danger 🥺🥺
I babysit my little cousin so this is a MUST! Thanks!😊
Very informative Thankyou
God bless you for sharing
I had my baby at 29weeks (preterm). When he was discharged from the NICU after a long stay, the nicu nurse taught us these exact same steps in case a baby is choking. Very helpful demonstration. Thanks.
Wow, what a little fighter! Congratulations, I'm sorry you all had such a bumpy start.
Thank you for this. This saved my baby from plastic she swallowed. I used this technique and it worked/ she threw up the plastic
So important, thanks!
Thank you so much for this very helpful
Fantastic, thank you!
This makes me so nervous even thinking about this happening. Thank you for the video tho. I am glad to know what to do. The visual of that they do really helps
nice video, thanks for creating this guide.
These kind of video save my boy today! Thank you
Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem Masha'ALLAAH BAARAKALLAAHU FEEKUM!! May Allaah bless you dear!
Thank you for the useful information.
That also worked on my 18 month old granddaughter when she half swolled a metal clip. I was so glad i had been trained how to do that!!
Thank you 🌹
Thank you 🙏🏾!!!
Thank you. I will try to remember your tips in case my baby chokes ❤
Gotta love that British accent!
very good demonstration very detailed
Thank you for your video. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this video, I feel more confident now, just started weaning my baby a few days ago
Thanks
thank you for this
Very informative.
Thank you so much for this video. We're starting solids soon (April) and might need this information then. (Hopefully not earlier, not then and actually not at all 🙏🏻 - but you never know. )
Thankyou so much for this video, it's really clear ♥️ Love from London, England, UK 🏴♥️ January 2022.
Thanks from the US!!
Thank you
Thank you very much for this wonderful video, my daughter always puts everything in mouth and I am worried very much. Now because of this video I am able to get some relief.
Thank you for a great video
Thank you for the video. New father here
My girlfriends wee one started choking the other day and she screamed to me she was so I ran in and did exactly what you showed on the video, wanted to make sure I was preforming it right.
Thankfully my mom worked in childcare all her life so she taught me back blows! I did not know about chest thrusts how quick do they have to be? Thank you!
Please turnoff ad revenue for videos like this. Those 5 seconds or so of ads was a horrible time waiting to get to the lesson as my baby was choking. Just for videos like this please. God that was so scary. I might also recommend a video on how to tell if they ARE choking. Our baby was breathing, but had a chunk of food stuck in his thought. He was frothing at the mouth and spit up a bit, but we were not sure if he was just upset or still choking. Any help indicating would be helpful. Thank you.
Those 5 seconds you could’ve called 911. D
@@KAYTEEZIE yea then what? Patiently wait for paramedics while ur baby chokes no I think I'll wait the 5 sec
I think you're already screwed if you're looking to KZhead to save a choking baby. Be prepared and get some training so you know what to do when it happens.
@@nickudai8734 Better to have EMS on the way than watching ads on KZhead. The 911 operator can also give instructions on what to do.
Adblock.
I am really looking for this "first aid" video coz I am planning to start a blw for my son. And thank God this simulation is so concise. ❤️
Me too. Blw
No disrespect to the other teachers on KZhead, but this is what’s needed a short video straight to the point because a lot of times either we’re in the moment or we just need the general information and there are several 15 to 20 minute videos that I have clicked off of after 30 seconds and I just feel like they were trying to get those views in and they actually lost me where you earned a full two minutes and 43 seconds from me because I watch beginning to end because you were straight to the point very informative and I appreciate you so much for this video❤️😀
PS I have watched a 20 minute video just to see if there was anything different being said that maybe was more important and no absolutely not the same thing extended
Thank you so much my child was choking today
Thanks.
Thank you very much
Tnx..
Very Useful. Thanks
My 6month old baby died due to vomit choking....She was so beautiful.....😥 i love her so much
GAREEB RIDER Damn man sorry to hear that...

GAREEB RIDER Omg god bless you.. hope you can have another beautiful child that can hive you happiness and peace.
That's terrible, I'm so sorry.
Thanks 😊 dr
Just founded out, my wife and I have a little girl on the way so this is helpful.
These videos are compulsory for when you become a parent. Yesterday my son and I were home alone. I put him on the floor for literally 2 seconds to grab something from his dresser for his bath. Then I heard a sound like struggle to cough. I rushed to him and it looked like he was trying to swallow something. I gently picked him up because I didn’t want him to panic. I tried to open his mouth but he shut it so tight and kept turning his head away. When I realized he didn’t want me touch his mouth I started to knock his back. He started to vomit. 🤮 I tilted him forward to get all the vomit out… lo and behold a small piece of plastic, kinder like the edge tip of a cereal bag. After he vomited, he started to laugh. This is not funny. He is 10 months now and at the stage where he puts everything in his mouth. My 2 year old niece is constantly Trying to feed him .. I am anxious all the time, even when am at work my mind is not totally at ease. The thoughts of these situations have me very shaky… as a new mom, I am not at peace 😮💨
Well done mum! From another I am proud of you. My daughter has done that. She choked on something and when I cleared her airway she acted like nothing happened and started eating her food. Kids don't have any idea. That's what we are here for ❤️
Remember, if a person is coughing, they aren’t chocking.
I just had a scare with my 6 week old. And came here to watch some useful information. I'm having difficult times with burping him.
Thank You for this video. I was standing in a long quote inside the bank and this mother was giving her young baby peanuts to eat. The poor baby fell over and hit it's head very hard, and I was so worried that it choked on the peanuts. Thank GOD it was OK.
this kept popping up on my stream so i knew i had to watch it. hope to never have to use this but thank you
Some people feel they can support the baby better if they’re sitting like she is, but others do better standing so they can get a better angle. I recommend trying it out in a doll so you know what position you do better in if the time actually comes.
❤️ so important.
Nice information about kids
Thank you :)
I'm about to become and aunt for the 3rd time to my oldest brother's child. Getting ready for often babysitting lol. Just being on the safe side.
Useful video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
