Cast Hourglass is the latest Hanayama puzzle. This puzzle is level 6 out of 6 and it is very complicated, It requires a lot of moves to solve it. In this video you will see step by step solution of Hourglass puzzle.

I had to hold it and move it and play with it for hours. After a while, the brain adjusts and accepts. I began to see the why for all the indents and cutouts. Then I started to move each piece around to orient it. But one comment below is dead on if you have the piece in the wrong direction -- FRUSTRATION. Putting it back together with the final turn into an almost square looked so wrong. Mine is together and I may never take it apart!! The puzzle is so well made. Excellent fun and many hours of relaxation (almost therapeutic) and frustration.
Mr. Puzzle Guy many thanks to yr demo; managed to solve it after several days of extreme patient experiment. Initially I started with some other tutorial vids, but my repeated solution attempts were in vain until I applied your methodology which is easier to follow. One constructive suggestion: the instruction quality would be appreciably enhanced if you would slow down momentarily at various critical stages to offer the learner a closeup view of the transiting form of hourglass puzzle.
I let someone else try it and had to figure out how to get it back to the original assembled position. Took me hours just to make a couple of moves. After all of that, I could not figure it out so I came here. I also watched 2 other videos, but this one explains it better and shows the steps better. Now all I gotta do is practice it. It's a really really cool puzzle! Thank you for sharing the solution, and for putting the spoiler alert in just the right place!
Genius! That was awesome watching you solve the hour glass puzzle. Much respect indeed!
An important thing about this puzzle is that it's very particular about how the pieces are oriented. If they're facing or pointing the wrong way, you can't make the move at all. So, if you're following along with the solution, make sure that your puzzle looks EXACTLY like PG's does before you proceed with each step. Pause and go frame-by-frame, if you have to.
If you feel the need to cheat why bother doing it at all.

Very challenging, and as NarlepoaxIII stated, orientation got me, once I figured that out I was able to complete the assembly. Excellent video!
Great explanation, but WOW, I never would have figured this out on my own. This is a beautiful puzzle, and so well designed. It's a work of art! But too difficult for me. I like it much better, though, than Quartet or Equa, both of which were so tight, it required brute force to make it work. This puzzle is very gentle. My favorite puzzles were Chain and Enigma, which, although also Level 6, were much much much easier to figure out!
Thank you for feedback. I'm not a big fan of Equa and Quartet also. I like Chain puzzle as well, but it is too easy for level 6. Hourglass is my favorite Hanayama puzzle so far. Hanayama is going to release new puzzle in June, looking forward to solve it.
I have the level 4 möbius. I figured out the pattern within a few hours, its still pretty fun tho, great video btw!
I noted that on the last move you had the two Hanayama parts face to face rather than flat to flat. Once i figured out they need to be flat to flat it worked well.
You must have read my mind! I found out about this new puzzle a few days ago and was going to post in your previous video to try it out. :) I really like the look of it, very very difficult. But the harder the better!
I found it 2 weeks ago and bought it. Got it on Friday and spent the whole evening solving. Very difficult, very good, very recommended to buy 😁

This puzzle is awesome! I managed to solve it last week. Definitely deserves the level six rating, this overtook the Vortex for hardest puzzle I've done (in my opinion).
I saw your latest video. I'm one of three persons who liked your video. ;) And yes, you are right. Hourglass is the hardest Hanayama puzzle so far. It took me less time to solve it, than Vortex. but it's still the hardest.
@@Puzzleguy Ah brilliant! Thank you. Same here, quicker than Vortex in disassembling but for reassembling it took me ages to figure out the right orientation for putting the four pieces back together. Loved it.
It is difficult to find how to assemble all 4 pieces into a chain. Took me a lot of time as well.
If I knew that I wouldn't have baought it. I hate it.
out of randomness, this ended up being my first hanayama puzzle... managed to get it apart after more time than I'd like to admit...putting it back together can be quite frustrating due to orientations. .... good puzzle.
It a good puzzle but one of the most difficult Hanayama's puzzle. 😃 Good luck on assembling it.

Very nice intro! This one is so tough. Going from the square position to back in line is by far the hardest move in my opinion. I saw you uploaded the UFO a few days ago, I've not managed to get one yet :(

Hey, if you see this, I need help! I was fiddling with this puzzle before watching this video and I’ve somehow got my puzzle to the stage at 3:50, however both openings are facing up on the hahahaha pieces, is there anyway to fix this?

Thank you for your feedback. When you solve puzzle backwards, you have to make first steps right, or you will end up struggling putting all 4 parts together.

I messed up and bought this thinking it was a 6 out of 10 difficulty. (I hadn't done a puzzle like this sense i was a kid) so I wanted something difficult but not to bad. I got it apart in a couple of hours but putting it back together i messed something up came back to it later and somehow lucked out on getting back into its original shape 😂 so I will probably not be taking it apart again. I absolutely loved this puzzle and surprised myself. Definitely going to buy more
Well done! Hanayama puzzles have difficulty scale 1-6, 1 is the lowest, 6 is the hardes.
this puzzle is orders of magnitude tougher than anything else i have tried by Hanayama.,., the only other one i couldn't reassemble afterwards was the Vortex, but that is now easy, but this one,.,., I can't imagine ever getting to where i can do this one in one hand!
Both Vortex and Hourglass are in top 3 most hardest Hanayama puzzles. Can't even imagine how puzzle designer managed to create such a beast.

Extremely difficult, but very interesting. My favorite puzzle out of all Hanayama cast puzzles.
I can't even solve the infinity puzzle let alone the hour glass puzzle. I'm so frustrated with the infinity puzzle that I've just about givin up.

I received an hourglass at Xmas 2023, 7 plus weeks later I solved it. My wife moved out, I lost my job, The kids won't talk to me. And I can't tell you the dog's behaviour towards me. But I solved the hourglass, and I didn't use a grinder.
I got mine stuck can’t get it unstuck
I made one wrong movement in the assembling progress. No matter what I tried there was no way back

One step they didn't go in the way they needed to and now its perfectly screwed I tried everything but its permanently stuck in a position that can't be reversed🙁 Edit: I finally got it reversed but now my new problem is that one piece is upside down so when I do to lock it in the hourglass form one of the hourglass piece is upside down so the notch is on the bottom not the top like the other so it wont lock together
iron son I am having the same issue. I’ve been stuck for 2 days and can’t figure out how to get it back facing the right way. I can’t find help anywhere and it’s killing me!!
This puzzle is not supposed to be called a puzzle. One wrong movement the hourglass pieces where complete opposite and I was stucked for an hour. Tried to do what I did reversed and I ended up with a hammer and my wrath
After 3 months of trying I gave up no matter what I do it wont reverse itself and I can no longer get it to come apart into its 4 pieces it's been collecting dust as a paper weight, I even reached out to the company a iut this small but big issue a d they jeep telling me it wont be a puzzle if you could solve it easily...I even sent them pictures of how it looks a d sapose to look and they keep giving me the same B.S.
Im like, really stuck now... I took a wromg move and now its just completly janked up 🙁😔😦
I can't help you without seen a picture of your puzzle. Try to undo what you did. Find a moment on video where my puzzle looks the same as your and follow my video.

I was putting it back together but on the « square » part the bottom Hanamaya was positioned askew (one side to the bottom, one side to the top) I have since not been able to take it apart to start anew, the pieces preventing a move out... What do you propose ? I have a picture but don’t know how to post it here.
i got my hourglass stuck. any one know how to unstuck it? one of the pieces is reversed...and now i cant fix it
By stuck you mean you can't move any piece? Or you are stuck and don't know what to do next?

ibb.co/K20WRcz A second angle. I have 1 flat edge and 1 forked edge. It somehow got flipped and i cant reverse it. And i got upset and checked videos for solution (which usually i never do) and realized i messed it up pretty bad

somehow fucked it up on the first step and cant reorient from here, cant put back as it was,stuck with a double layer chain
literally like the starting configuration except in the opposite way, where the parts cannot fit together compactly, and swing nearly freely.
mines broken cant even get them apart.
I have the same feeling when I can't solve a puzzle. But 99,99% your puzzle is perfect.

Don't be so upset. It is really very difficult puzzle. The most complicated of all Hanayama puzzles, but one of the most interesting.
I know what you mean in regards to frustrating puzzles. I've spent allot of money on these kinds of puzzles and can't do half of them. 😢 Not to smart on my part!

All 4 parts are very similar. Probably you use wrong parts. Take a closer look at your puzzle and what you see on video.
You're cheater) At 12:45, you start to assemble it in one direction, and then you speed up the video and in the end I see that you assembled it in another direction because (of course) it won't assemble in the direction you've shown @12:45 ))
