Awesome review on the new Nuphy. I recently purchased the Air96 with the Wisteria switches. Agree they are great typing switches.
Excellent review (as always). Keep up the good work!
Love my V1. using now. Pre-ordered V2. can't wait. fav keyboard ever
yeah, I have been using the v1 on my editing rig since release! The v2 is a really good upgrade :)
Really cool you could get one to review so early. I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago after just having a halo 75 for a couple of months. Now I will have a nuphy for the home and the office.
I love nuphy products so much I start hounding them the second they announce them 😂 I am currently using a halo65 on my gaming rig and an air 75 (now v2) Gary stole the halo 75 for his editing rig but I wish I had kept that instead of the halo 65 😀
Bought it and used your code. I really like how it goes on top of laptops without issue. I've tried using my keychron, but it always triggers my laptops internal keyboard. Got an all black version with black wristrest.
Nice! hope you enjoy it. what switches did you choose?
This is fantastic review. The only one that cover the software part.
Thanks for this review. Now I know that I need to preorder this asap.
The hardest part is choosing colour and switch 😂
nice video. 2 months ago i bought the air75 v1 for my work and i was so satisfied that i wanted to buy another one but i the magnetic feet were problematic. so i searched further. but then they have announced v2 and gave me a 20% upgrade discount. i thought that nuphy can read my mind. it was perfect
haha it seems so, hope you enjoy it :)
I just came across your channel and assumed you would have 1M+ subs. Soon come no doubt with such great content on offer!
Haha even 100k subs would be nice 😂 still I love making videos and have plenty more content coming soon 👍
I just ordered this board to use on my Steam Deck. Thanks for the video!
nice, glad to hear the steam deck is still getting some love! mine has sat in the corner since getting my ally :)
Just ordered mine with your discount code. Was going to go for the wooting but switched it up. Went with the cowberry as well.
I am loving the cowberry! Hope you enjoy yours
Awesome review. Thanks!
Your discount code sealed the deal for me! Will be getting this with the cowberry switches
I am loving the cowberry switch! Hope you enjoy yours :)
Such a great video. Thank you, I can't wait for mine to come. I did notice that on the plastic dust cover they've printed the pronunciation of their brand as New-fee, not Noo-ph-i
I thought it was new-fee and used to say it like that then got corrected by loads of people to new-fi! lol
@@MashITTech haha, sounds about right, internet being internet 😂
Can't wait for my pre-order to arrive - will be my first modern mechanical keyboard
Hope you enjoy it! Let me know how you get on :)
HI, I have two of the V1's. Love them. Then one day I realized that the battery had swelled on one of them.. so I checked the other and it had swelled too... seems like the batteries they use are not of high quality and I would be very interested in knowing if the V2 has better batteries in them.
hey thanks for the nice review, I just saw a review saying that the via/qmk profile is not saved on the keyboard. That it no longer works if you switch to Bluetooth. Were you able to test this?
Amazing stuff! Would like a few more comparison videos though.
I have the lowfree on the way so can compare that. What else would you like it compared with?
@@MashITTech I was thinking keychrons?
Let me see if I can get some in
@@MashITTech Great thanks a lot!
Got me the gray one on pre-order. Can't wait.
Grey is my favourite but I chose black because it is new 😂
I actually won my v1 from Nuphy and its my favorite keyboard. I'm excited for this one!
oh wow, that was lucky!
Great review! I preordered same cowberry switches in the white colorway. This video made me even more excited for it to arrive. I didnt realize the extra shine through key caps arent doubke shot. Do you know if that makes a difference in how the keys sound?
Yes, it’s really difficult to make double shot pbt shine through as they are so think. It hardly impacts the sound but they don’t feel as nice as pbt or last as long (pbt will last years without wear
Great review
Does VIA software works over wireless though, that's my biggest issue with the V1. If it needed to be wired in order to be customisable, it might as well not having the custom function
I'm hoping mine gets delivered early. I got the black with wisteria switches, and the free shine-through keycaps.
I use your code and choose the black cobalt with brown switches. Great review.
hope you enjoy it :)
I also purchased it with your configuration today. Hope you are enjoying it?
@@lapsaroundf1circuits456 i received it yesterday and i'm loving it
Never clicked on a video so fast. I've got mine on preorder. I have five Nuphy keyboards. Love them. :)
Haha I love them too, they are my favourite off the shelf keyboards! I do prefer the halo range as I love a more traditional mech but these airs go so well with my max setup
Good question. Let me put them side by side when I get in the office. I also do plan on doing an Air75v2 vs Halo 75 comparison soon
Got my first Nuphy this year. Desparately itching for a new one. Please team me how to use five at time
I use the Air60 at work and love it (well except the feet ofc) so I figured ill get the new 75 for my home setup. I got the lighter tactile switch, i just hope i like it
Yeah, the feet were a good idea at the time but didn't work well in practice, I kept loosing mine 🤣 The tactile are very subtle so think you will like them, I love the wisteria if its a typing only board.
I have a first version of Air 75, absolutely love it! The only concern, unlit letters through key caps…
This is always a tough one and you can buy shine through key caps from nuphy but I prefer the feel of double shot so always go without shine through. Razer tried to use double shot shine through keycaps on the huntsman v2 and it didn’t work very well because of the thickness of the pbt cap
You can learn to touch type in under a week.
Great review, just ordered Nuphy air96 with blue switches. My colleagues are going to hate me but I like the clicky sound😅
Haha nice, I love clicky for pure typing, it drives Gary insane 👍 did you use a discount code to get the extra 10% off?
@@MashITTech Unfortunately I purchased the keyboard before watching your video but if I like the 96 I might order the 75 v2 and will definitely make sure to use the discount code. Thanks🤩
Ah shame. Never mind, hope you enjoy the keyboard when it arrives 👍
Waiting mine through the preorder with wisteria switches, wulnut wristrest ;-)
thanks a lot for the insightful review .i have a quick question did you faced typo mistakes ? cause in v1 I had a lot of typo mistakes and that's why I returned it
Were you getting missed characters or could you not get used to the layout?
@@MashITTech the layout was fine to get used to . But I was doing a lot of typo mistakes and missed some characters
Greate great review, I think you're first with the review. Really very good. I am about to pre-order this can you tell me is there any shipping issue or customs clearance-related problem happened to you? I am ordering this in US.
Thank you mate, I have had a few nuphy keyboards over the years and shipping has always been fast and never had any customs issues and I live in the U.K. which is pretty strict on customs! What colour and switch are you going for? Make sure you use the discount code for an extra 10% off.
I am going for the same you ordered that is cowberry switch @@MashITTech
What is your opinion of the low free flow low profile keyboard? Thanks!
Great review, thanks. I recently bought the v1, not realising a v2 was coming. I've been a little disappointed with the v1 because there is no firmware for linux/mac, only windows, no VIA so I can't easily remap keys and the Gateron brown switches are a little squeaky. Thinking I might try and sell this v1 and upgrade to a v2.
Yeah, I can only hope they offer this via upgrade to the whole range as it really is a game changer. Plus the improved battery life, fold out feet and better keycaps make the v2 a worthy upgrade
Many thanks for your video. About to put an order through, but thinking through the Cowberry switched and the Aleo - any advice? I'm coming from Logitech MX range (the regular not the mechanical) and this will be my first mechanical keyboard. Appreciate the advice.
Can you tell me your planned use for the keyboard? if it is pure typing my first choice would be wisteria followed by cowberry, for a mix of typing and gaming cowberry then pure gaming I would choose aloe. the 37g is very light and I feel it may be too light for pure typing
Thanks for getting back to me. It’s purely for typing really… so that’s helpful. How does the Cowberry and the Aloe compare to the like of MX keys or Apples’s keyboard?
@@MashITTech thanks again for replying… I’ve replied below (figuring out the mention!) cheers
hello mate, sorry for the delay, got bogged down with family stuff! ok, the cowberry is slightly heavier than the aloe and pressure wise is similar to the Logi. Logi and cowberry feel slightly heavier than the apple keyboard which although I type fast on gives me terrible wrist ache with prolonged use. The Logi although decent pressure feels spongy unlike a mech keyboard, the cowberry just feels amazing to type on
Thanks mate@@MashITTech - that was very helpful. Too many options with those buttons. Looks like it's worth trying the Cowberry first, instead of ordering multiple buttons and turns out a waste. It's great they include a trial pack of the rest. I've put in an order and used your code. Cheers
Any idea if NuPhy Air 96 will get a V2 upgrade soon? The QMK/VIA and other improvements would make the 96 an instant buy for me.
Preorders just announced!
@@SimplyMenacing19 yup, preordered yesterday morning. literally hours after i ordered the 75 v2. guess i'll see which i like more.
Are you sure those switches are Cowberries? Looks like the Daisy variant, but it could be the video color tricking me. Cowberry is red while Daisy is peach.
Great video, thank you. Would be even better if there was a more substantial typing test and timestamps :)
Ah, sorry, I will add the time stamps. How can I improve the typing test for the next video I do? Thanks for the feedback 😀
@@MashITTech I think having it much longer so people have time to hear a prolonged typing experience. So you type for 20-30 seconds, then finish with some space/modifier key spamming, with a little text warning showing that the segment is about to end (people turn up the volume to hear the keys, and don't want to get blasted by what comes after!). I'd take a look at some other example reviews out there if you want to get a feel of how others do it :) The video otherwise is super good.
Thanks so much, I will check a couple of other people out. I will try and make a short focusing on the typing experience soon
I want the right light to show the battery at all times, possible? The lighting options in the app are useless, nothing special. I don't want fancy lighting I want to decide what the right side light displays. Great review tho!
what about silicone spacebar dampener? Had halo 65 and it was really amazing feature and feel
Ok, I just ripped the space bar off and inspected it. It is not the same as the Halo range, the halo space bar has silicone centre standoff. The air space is too thin for that. They have put the silicone dampener across the whole space bar area to give it the sound dampening. I would say it is a good compromise because of the thin system
@@MashITTech The same silicone damper insert in the keyboard is in the Halo range as well. So the Halos got that, and the Ghostbar.
Does a spacebar really need to be that big? Why don't manufacturers just make it smaller and add a couple of programmable hot keys instead?
Dammit. I really wanna buy this but i need to have nordic layout ÅÄÖ etc. You can probably program it on the software but im still left with no keycaps for those keys...
How many days did you receive this keyboard by the nuphy website ?
Mine took just over a week to ship but probably almost two weeks for it to be ready as I ordered before they were even off the production run
Low profile magnetic switch keyboard would be my end game keyboard
this is old but im pretty sure based on the colour, u were using daisy's. and the cowberry is sitting in the packaging on the left of the frame.
I wonder if you can swap the Kailh POM switches from the Lofree Flow into the Nuphy 75 v2?
I have the lofted on the way, I will try when it areives
Reason I ask if that the the Lofree basically has no features lol but a good typing action, whereas the Nuphy V2 has alot of features eg. keymapping but with switches which I don't think are quite as good....I suspect the ping layout of the switch may be slightly different? @@MashITTech
Hey man, what monitor is that, looks nice!
Hey mate, that's the: Dell U2723QE: geni.us/YftSL0 its a 4k monitor with built in hub and 90w PD charging for your laptop. I love it
Why no typing review?
There is still no see through light for the keys, this is my reason I picked keychron k3(red), and now RedDragon k625(brown). I also have Logitech MX(red) full size.
you can order shine through keycaps but they are ABS are no where near the quality of the PBT they supply. I need to take another look at keychron, I haven't ordered a keyboard from them for years!
@@MashITTech Then it’s too expensive if I have to buy that on my own… even the Logitech is overpriced I believe but I got it with store credit reward, I am happy with the RedDragon K625 brown switch so far, ~US$52, with another set of spare keys in darker grey color, and I really like to have the power switch on the left hand side.
Great keyboard
When keyboard makers are going to understand the value of an split spacebar on a programmable keyboard?
Do you think they will come out with a V2 of the Air 96. Bonus points if it comes in black like this one too!
the air96 is very recent so I don't think they will give it a V2 any time soon but I could see them adding more colours :)
Cool review, but clicked for the sound test of the alternative switches and it was without keycaps. Doesn't showcasing how those would sound in reality, with the keycaps on
let me see if I can make a short with the caps on for you
Can the cowberry switches carry the weight of idle fingers resting on them without pressing?
they do with my resting force on the keyboard.
@@MashITTech thanks
Any developments on the cooling compared to the 7i?
Working on it as we speak
Unfortunatelly, not an ISO version again. Can't understand how a big target such as Spanish speakers are barely considered on the keyboards niche
Totally agree as we are ISO here in UK too. I keep nagging NuPhy to make an ISO version and on the package it shows ANSI/ISO/JIS layout with ANSI ticked so I am keeping my fingers crossed this may mean it is in the pipeline
What is ISO? I'm new to this keyboard hobby
@@jcap8391 google ISO vs ANSI keyboard. U'll see the differences between, but ir relies on some keycaps position, size of the ENTER...
@jcap8391 Google "iso vs ansi"
@@jcap8391 the keyboard layout used in some countries like Europe and other parts of the world. It has a smaller left shift key to accommodate a and it also has a more square- like enter key.
The short Enter key does not works for me :\
is there a keycaps that letters are transparent ? i dont know how to say its celled tho
yes, they are called shine through. you can add a set with the keyboard, I think they are an extra $19 atm
Is this keyboard only RGB or can you also have a white backlight?
I am pretty sure as with a lot of rgb keyboard the white has a bit of coloured hue as it’s not rgbw but there is white in the colour picker. When I get in the office next I will select white and see what it looks like
Nuphy makes really nice keyboards.
They do, they are by far my favourite off the shelf mech keyboard and with every release they add new features to improve them
yeah sir i agree. @@MashITTech i also started uploading gaming content on my channel can you check out and give a review.
@@MashITTech and i am still not sure what name should i keep for the channel
let me take a look. Will give you some feedback :)
Thank you@@MashITTech
Worst case scenario, if the battery stops working, can one still continue using the keyboard in wired mode?
Absolutely and in all honesty, my air75v1 ended up living on my editing rig via wired the whole time just because I am too lazy to charge it every so often 😂
What desk mat are you using?
That is the grovemade Morino wool desk pad, the link is in the description :)
What about your new water cooled laptop? is it on the way?
It’s not been despatched yet 😢
hey users, out of curiosity... What is the (special) use case of this keyboard and it's features?
That's a good question. 1. it is one of very few mechanical keyboards that properly supports Mac including all the Mac functions. 2. it's bluetooth, wired or wireless so can be used with Mac/iPad/PC. 3. being a low profile mechanical keyboard its easy to transport it so if you wanted to use it with an iPad as an example you could throw it in the bag. Other features that I love are the build quality and sound profile of the keyboard feels and sounds like an expensive models build. Hope that helps
@@MashITTech thx!
What keyboard mat are you using plz?
Give me a couple of minutes, just out for a second
I'll be preordering this with your coupon code as soon as my Air 60 arrives. Ordered almost a month ago. Love their boards but shipping is atrocious.
Oh wow, I assume there was stock issues when you ordered? Mine usually arrive to the U.K. in a couple of weeks!
I mean they ships quick so it's not a backorder issue just takes forever to get here. Impossible to track as well. 2-3 weeks is totally acceptable since it's china but anything more then that is a bit much. Anything I ordered from IQUNIX or G-Wolves was always around two weeks and the same shipping charge. @@MashITTech
6:51 "all fucntionallity works, clicks on launchpad button key - not working :) ... so next scene
Any way to change that yellow space key to black?
I am pretty sure if you get the shine through key caps (which is free in preorder) you get a black. Let me double check when I get in the office
I just checked the shine through I got with my air96 and even the shine through came with a yellow space bar :( let me ask NuPhy
Many thanks for your effort in helping me! I appreciate it@@MashITTech
Why no UK/ISO layout. That's a deal breaker for me as that tiny Enter key is annoying.
I agree, I keep asking them to add them, maybe one day they will listen 😢
I've never understood the point of backlighting if the keys don't let the light through... The caps should be shine through in my opinion..
And you can order it with shine through caps. But sadly most shine through caps are made from ABS and don't feel as good. Double shot PBT caps struggle letting the light through which is why most companies won't make them
@@MashITTech Yes, I get it, but it doesn't mean it's impossible to make PBT shine through caps. e.g. Asus also managed to do it with Azoth.
Yes you are correct and so does razer with the huntsman v2 and v3 but comparing the huntsman to the previous ABS keycaps they are much more dull as not much light is shining through (Haven't had a chance to the Asus yet though). I have searched for years for custom key cap manufacturers to make decent shine through PBT caps but none seem to be willing
@@MashITTech Yeah, well.. For me it's ok, if the caps don't blind me.. :) the backlighting doesn't need to shine like the sun ofc. They just need to be visible in a dark environment. Maybe it's just me, who's not the best blind typer.. :D I guess people with 100+ wpm don't need any backlighting at all :)
i think those might be daisy switches, pls correct me if im wrong
They were originally daisy, these are the daisy v2 which have been renamed cowberry
@@MashITTech Oh I see, thanks for clarifying. I pre-ordered with moss switches but also won the discord giveaway with daisy switches. So the actuation force on daisy v2 is 45g?
ah so those daisy switches you won are likely to be the v2 cowberry like me and yes the actuation force is 45g. I have tested all this years switches and the cowberry is my personal favourite (but I prefer a linear switch, obviously this is subjective)
@@MashITTech I'm more a tactile switches guy so the linears should be a new experience. Thank you for the great overview sir and keep them videos coming.
@@MashITTechI just received v2 and noticed that the peak backlight brightness is only comparable to the level one brightness of my v1. Others on the discord server show the white v2 backlight to be much brighter than the v1, does your black unit have the same issue.
can i set tap dance on it?
haha are you joking or do you mean the effect that as you type shoots light out?
Is this a universal keyboard? Would it be compatible with Onyx Boox Note Air Plus 2?
Mac users, do not buy v2 if you care about globe key. This keyboard does not have globe key by default. You may apply a qmk patch and build the firmware yourself, but you will still loose it when using bluetooth
thank you!!
It’s one of the layers, you’re just clueless. Stick to non customs
Can this work on iPad?
It sure can 👍
@@MashITTechwhich quieter, cowberry or aloe?
no bluetooth?
yes it has bluetooth! sorry stupid of me not to make that clear
@@MashITTech nah its cool you said it later on in the video i just forgot to delete this comment
Anything is higher than the Apple Magic Keyboard lmao.
haha true
Its a shame they never come with a trackpoint.
Haha they could make a NuThink
I bought this one because of the anime girl
The white light is terrible. It uses all the colours mixed together to get a white light. This keyboard apart from having a terrible white light.
DO NOT BUY THESE! Buy the LoFree Flow. It is INCREDIBLE!!! I have the dark grey Tactile version. Flawless. Truly no complaints. I work at a desk for 8 hours a day with AWS and love it for just that. I use my high profile custom boards at house for gaming though. LoFree 4 ever.
I just received my lofree, I haven’t even opened it yet! Will review it and compare it soon 👍
Argh! Again with this nonsense of having keys to the right of the return key etc. It’s so annoying. Note that the box shows a keyboard without those because they know it’s a terrible design 😀
I don't undestand why they add Anime girls, very stupid thing.
Me either but at least the don’t put anything tacky on the keyboard
I don't buy nuphy because I don't like this either
