Making a Damascus Fighting Knife in Under 19 Minutes!?
In this video, I'll be making a sweet little Feather Pattern Damascus fighter/everyday carry knife! My favorite part of this knife build was making the tapered tang as thin as I could on the end. The Composite Feather Pattern Damascus came out really cool and makes me want to experiment more with different kinds of Feather Patterns. The handle scales are fossil mammoth ivory with natural colors and two little Argentium Silver Pins!

I can tell. your voice sound pro level. Very good videography. Good job on both the knife and the video.
Don't worry about the shameless plug fellas, we're pleased with what Team Royer has built up... and I'm not just talking about the blades! Cheers!
Hey kyle, have you ever thought of making a folding knife? seems like something that would challenge you in a good way.
Can you make a katana? Please :)
yes this knife is beautiful... you should make more and sell it.. I really would like to buy this knife.. really awesome.
That feather pattern is one of the most pleasant, aesthetic pieces of Damascus I have seen yet
I can't wait until a big knife company makes a CNC damascus making machine so that I can find knives like that in wal-mart... but if they do China might invade us instead of Taiwan.... lol
I must admit I am a forging addict, and no one has the attention to details that you have. Your knives are always flawless.
That’s why there extremely expensive. They’re flawless. Takes a ton of time and skill to achieve
I am sorry if this upsets you, you made a work of art, I would not be able to use this knife as a functional tool for fear of marring the surface.
It is made to be used. My stepdad made beautiful chopping blocks for several family members one Christmas, and I was the only one that used it. To this day(about 8 years later) I use this chopping block everyday. It is art, but it's also functional. An unused tool is a useless tool. Just my opinion, however, I do understand your point. Using a beautiful tool sometimes feels like destroying art, however, the use adds character to the art.
@@RdeneckTechI also think the way you do. I can understand his thought process and logic and it is completely fine but it's kinda like having an absolutely beautiful car and never driving it. I'm not saying to drive the car into the ground or use the knife until it brakes,I'm just saying why not appreciate it in every way possible, even if only on special occasions. I have some very beautiful, rare, expensive and one of a kind possessions and I feel like if I let them sit in the same place and just simply collect dust forever, it is doing said objects a disservice and letting it's full potential just go to waste. With that being said,I'm a true believer of the saying "to each their own" so by no means am I judging you friend. Good day and happy new year to all who read this.
By far the best Feather pattern Damascus I have ever seen. That thing is amazing
I love how the title indicates the knife as a simple knife lol...ofc kyle has done more complex builds but this is just stunning...good job on the editing Josh it's always amazing
"Simple" must mean a very different thing in this case.
I thought that as well... There's obviously levels to this, and his is off the charts!
After the recent huge builds, it is great watching this "simple knife" build. like watching a master martial artist execute a basic front kick. The practice and skill is all there filling the simplicity of the task almost to bursting. Great Job!
Looks great! Beautiful outcome.
Some call this a simple knife, others will call it "OMG that's gorgeous!!" But knowing how complex most of your other works of art are, you could call this a simple knife... for you ;) Thnx for sharing your art Kyle (and family!)
That’s the most beautiful feather pattern I have ever seen. Good job 👏
I love the curve and sweep of the whole knife. Everything looks fantastic- the rainbow sheen on the blade is pretty cool. Nice job!
I didn't even think that there are so many and professional manufacturers of this steel in the world, don't get tired
Kyle..it was nice meeting you at Blade show! Love your work...Travis
It was great chatting with you! Thanks for taking the time to show me those two pieces of history!
@@kyleroyer7333 You are quite welcome!
One of the most amazing, if not the most amazing knife I have ever seen. The feather design in the blade and all the attention to detail is amazing.
I'm in awe... that is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen. Extremely nice! This is the first video of yours I have watched, but it definitely will not be the last!
I'm a forging video junkie, and this is one of the finest blades I've ever seen made, i absolutely love it
Thank you Stunning to behold. That our lives would comport with the quality of our tools.
Nice to finally see another knife done by you. The pattern is beautiful as well as the handle.
Your talent with creating beautiful damascus patterns is amazing! Beautiful work as always brother!
Awesome Blade. Please teach us each and every steps.
That feather pattern Damascus is phenomenal.
the small details and the overall look and quality of your work is stunning. you make it look easy, yet there are few people who can do what you do.
From watching you I just picked up on the double pedals for the press 😳 and that's an Awesome idea ‼️ I'm definitely going to add that to the press I'm building , that way both hands are free and seems to make the whole process smoother. Thank You so much for sharing your videos 🖤🔥🖤
Best feather Damascus I ever seen in a long time
That has to be the most beautiful damascus pattern I have ever seen!!!
Thanks Scott
You're doing a really good job on the edits Josh. The overall production is rising, and rising.
Hey Josh, amazing work with video and editing! If you’re open to suggestions I think it’s cool to be teased about the final look right until the end! But great video and great editing, and of course: great forging!
Royer is a master. Brilliant.
Most beautiful feather knife I’ve ever seen.
Thanks
That is the most beautiful knife I've ever seen. I told my boyfriend don't ever give me a ring and ask for my hand. Now if he asked for my hand and put this knife in my palm, I'd consider it.
Without a doubt the most beautiful knife I have ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks
The best Damascus build I’ve ever seen. Very nice video quality and also very professional walkthrough about what you did and how you did it!!!
A genuine masterpiece, Mr. Royer. do you have any of your knives in museum collections? There should be...awesome skills, sir.
Looks Awesome. The feather pattern is outstanding!! Absolutely beautiful.
It isn't fair to my eyes how beautiful your creations are.
Wow! That’s breathtaking.
Insanely beautiful. Really a piece of art.
This is possibly the most beautiful knife I've ever seen.
Mesmerizing. Simply beautiful knaf
This thing is a work of art all the way around but those mammoth ivory scales steal the show!
Hey thanks
I’ve NEVER seen damascene steel like that !! More videos, PLEASE !
You are truly a master of your craft.
very nice, greetings from a rainy SW Thailand, Sawasdee !!!
Every other feather damascus pattern knife I have seen (including your dad’s) puts the feather the opposite way-with the “v” in the center pointing towards the handle. Yours point towards the tip, which looks much better to my eye, and I would think you would have less to fear of cold shuts at the critical tip of the knife. I am guessing that this is intentional, and if so, is just one of the attention to details that set your work apart from everyone else. Bravo!
Hey thanks Tom. We extremely rarely get a cold shut, then it manageable to eliminate. Either direction works. Just preferences. Dad just started running his feathers in a different direction just to mix it up. Good eye my friend. Cheers Dad
Most beautiful Damascus pattern I've ever seen...so good!
What a gorgeous work of art.
I'm particularly impressed you point out mistakes and show us how you handle them.
Beautiful blade, cannot believe they always come out looking amazing! Truly another awesome build 👍👏
Beautiful as always! I'm an impatient person so I really love to see these full build videos so you can see the process and the final result all in one.
Hey thanks Dennis Dad
I loved working for you and you taught me the rules of the craft ❤️❤️❤️❤️

All the patterns are insanely beautiful .

WOW this is a Work of Art!!!!!
Damn man. These knives are jewels. Stunning.
Wow... speechless. Beautiful work from a proper ‘smith.
All I can say is: simplemente increíble...
Seriously though, I think I peed myself a little watching this. The close-up takes from the grinding process, and the beautiful rounded, creamy edges of the handle at the end. Goddamn...
You are fantastic teacher-you thought me they are no shortcuts in being a top tier knifemaker-do all the prep work ,clean everything and you should get a nice blade
That is the most beautiful knife I've ever seen...
A wonderful video of how a real craftsman makes a beautiful looking knife.
Killer work Kyle. Flawless.

Incredible forging yet again. A true perfectionist.
Another masterpiece. But what struck me this morning was your excellent videography, editing and voice over. Good job
Absolutely gorgeous pattern to the blade accented by those ivory scales ; but not just any gottdamn ivory , fossilised ivory . WOW ! CRAZY ! ( like Chris Walken would say ) Had no idea that you've been doing this for 17 years ; I mean , I knew you were super talented , but this is amazing . Once again thank you for sharing your passion for blade smithing . Slainté from down Under .
Hey thanks Samuel
That is definitely a great feather pattern. You certainly show why you are a master.

A true craftsman.
Отличная работа, шикарный нож!
Absolutely gorgeous piece!
Absolutely superb craftmanship!!
I have watched some of your knife-making videos and am very impressed with your Damascus knives. Your named knife “Luminous” was incredible, but when I saw this feather Damascus I could barely believe my eyes. My new favorite pattern. Thank you for sharing.

I would be so honored to own one of this man’s knives!! He is absolutely amazing to watch and I find my self falling asleep to his playlist every night! You have a very special gift sir!!!!
So awesome and I do love that it's a full Tang as opposed to most other bladesmiths that will make a small tang.
Absolute delight listening and viewing this build; video this morning! I was happy to subscribe and learn that there's a master knife smith making videos for KZhead.
Hey thanks J Glad you’re here Dad
This is the most beautiful Damascus blade I have ever seen

Wow, what a gorgeous blade. I like watching how a Master Bladesmith takes a piece of steel and turns it into a gorgeous work of art. I'd absolutely would love to have that exact knife made for me. If you ever decide to take orders for such a master peice, please let me know. Well done my friend, your experience shows well. Have a great day 😀. Peace 🙏
