    • I personally believe that Charizard is Ash's most iconic Pokemon, next to none other than Pikachu, of course. I would even say that Charizard being so prominent in the early days of the anime is a big part of the reason why Charizard ultimately became one of the most popular Pokemon in the entire franchise; a fact that anyone who collects the trading cards is no doubt all but too well aware of!

  • What I love about Charizard Chills is that it finally gives Charizard the time to truly listen to Ash. I love how Ash aknowledges that no he isn't the best trainer. He's impulsive, arrogant, and sometimes denser than a black hole. The point is that he tries hard to become better everyday for the sake of him and especially his Pokemon. I think Charizard knew this deep down but was too caught up in his past to really understand it till he was shown Ash caring for him throughout the night despite everything he's put Ash through. Ash is an idiot, but he's an idiot that cares and after what that dingbat Damien did to him, that's all Charizard could ask for.

Greninja and Infernape (even Inceneroar) definitely have the potential to beat legendaries and mythicals but at the end of the day only Pikachu, Charizard, and Sceptile have proved it on-screen.

  • It's kinda sad that for a while, Charmeleon/izard became just like Damian, a self-centered jerk who would only give the time of day to those he seemed strong enough to be worth the time. He was doing to Ash what Damian did to him, but Ash wasn't gonna let history repeat itself. Ash was strong enough to help Charizard get over himself, remember what a true friendship is, and finally put Damian's influence behind him once and for all. I don't know if it was the intention, but Charizard's arc really does a good job of depicting a breaking a cycle of abuse and growing past one's abuser.

Charmander pretty much is considered a traded pokemon as he already had an owner, this meant it levelled quickly and because he was ashes strongest/highest level he kept relying on him for tough battles which levelled it further. • Ah, Charizard... The Classic Powerhouse. Besides Sceptile, the powerhouse I grew up and absolutely adored growing up and watching every weekend. Speaking of Sceptile, one nitpick with Charizard is when Charizard returned towards the end of Battle Frontier... He should have met Sceptile then, as in a meeting of the Old Powerhouse meets the New Kid on the Block. That would have been interesting, instead of no real interaction upon Charizard's stay at Oak's after Unova... Not to mention meeting a third Dragonite. That episode, while still good... Could have been saved back for Battle Frontier... Since his Hoenn Guys didn't meet him at the time. Still, Charizard's story and character, despite a few flaws, is one of the best of all-time, and a reason he is one of my all-time favorites. Bring this guy back in a full episode, writers! Also wish his Charizard got to battle Alan’s. Didn’t even need to mega, a battle of skill vs power. • I’ve been waiting for this video, where to start. Charizard is one of ashes most complex Pokémon that he’s ever owned. I had many theories on why he changed so much when he evolved and I don’t think it has anything to do with Ash’s badge amount, simply he was owned by another trainer he got very strong Ash obtained him after he was getting abused by Damian and while he was very loyal to Ash he subconsciously held everything in (like the anger for his former trainer) and when he evolved into Charmeleon it was all released and then when he further evolved into Charizard he couldn’t control his power. It was something that most people couldn’t understand when they were younger watching this. I was probably 10 years old when I saw the episode where he involved and he would’ve been beneficial and so many matches though he was good on Cinnabar island. He screwed up the indigo league for Ash but eventually he found loyalty for Ash and while Ash had to release him to that Valley he eventually returned and became a very good performer for Ash. The video was very enjoyable and took a nice trip down memory lane.

    • @@ProfessorAlexSilver I mean a lot of people can say that because Charmander fought all those exeggutor he gained a bunch of levels they could say ash didn’t get his badges legitimately. But I think they’re trying to relate the anime to the games too much. And there are differences. I ultimately think in this case because he was owned by another trainer and because he got so much stronger so quickly that had a lot to do with it. None of his other Pokémon evolved that quickly except for Caterpie but that’s a whole different type of Pokémon altogether. But yeah very enjoyable video.

  • My take is I don’t think charizard hated ash nor do I think it was lazy. I think charizard always had at the back of its mind what Damian did and it took a lot for ash to prove to charizard that he wouldn’t leave it.

  • As a fan since pokemon came out as a show. Charizard got one of the best story lines. Im glad I got to see the whole journey after the first season coz other than the movie unknown… which gotta be my biggest surprise and coolest as a Charizard fan when he showed up… these summarization got me updated! Thanks! Who else is with me?

  • Wow, I'd have never known that Charizard's story is this good without watching this video. Big thanks for making this. I only watched Pokemon anime when I was young, just until the beginning of gen 2. I knew that he left but never know that he returned many times.
