At 7:19 and 7:25 Jeanne was nervous that Werner might go to her instead of her grandfather when she was treating her blisters and catch a glimpse of her. 😃 If Jeanne didn't go to where her grandfather was, Werner would have go to where Jeanne was instead of the fireplace where the grandfather was. It's funny to me because they look like they are playing hide and seek! It's a detail I recently discovered. Have to watch this movie many times for details.

Really good catch, that is a moment of intriguing potential... this film is like a puzzle, you keep finding clues that has meaning long after the watching is over. Ce film est un bijou ciselé par des acteurs extraordinaires. Tout dans les regards. Une belle histoire pendant des années sombres. De plus Thomas Jouanet est moitié allemand et parle la langue. Son accent n’est pas une caricature de l’accent allemand en français.

Les spectateurs sortaient de la guerre, en avaient encore les séquelles, il ne s'agissait pas de rigoler avec ça. Il s'agissait de promouvoir la résistance française, la sublimer. Vercors, l'auteur de la nouvelle et résistant de 1ère heure, a vu Le Silence de la Mer diffusé dans le monde entier. La version de 2004 est très différente et éloignée de la nouvelle. 63 ans après son écriture. Les spectateurs n'ont jamais connu la guerre, ni même leurs parents. L'austérité de la nouvelle ne serait pas passée auprès de ce public, pour qui les mots de patriotisme et d'honneur, au mieux n'ont pas de sens, au pire sont tabous. Ce téléfilm a été produit par le service public. Il avait donc des objectifs précis. Le drame de ce téléfilm, c'est qu'il est certes très beau, mais rend peu justice à l'auteur, car la majorité des spectateurs ne voient que sa partie romantique. Vercors, résistant, a essentiellement écrit un texte de résistance. Certes il y avait dans son œuvre une touche de romance, mais ce n'était pas le message prépondérant. C'était une nouvelle clandestine, destinée à sensibiliser ses compatriotes à la résistance passive - lorsqu'il l'a écrite en 1941. En effet, il a choisi cette intrigue car encore à cette date, avant l'envahissement de la zone libre, les Allemands avaient pour consigne de bien se comporter avec la population, avec des visées purement politiques et non humanitaires. Évidemment, il reste que c'est un très beau film, servi par d'excellents acteurs, 1ers et 2nd rôles. Mais j'aimerais que les spectateurs prennent le temps de lire la nouvelle et également l'excellente préface introductrice (Livre de poche), qui montre la genèse de la nouvelle en éclairant bien le contexte. La première fois que j'ai vu ce téléfilm, moi qui connaissais bien la nouvelle, j'ai été très déçu et j'ai crié à la trahison ! Ensuite, je l'ai revu pour lui-même en essayant de me détacher de Vercors et j'ai adoré.

L'austérité de la nouvelle ne serait pas passée auprès de ce public, pour qui les mots de patriotisme et d'honneur, au mieux n'ont pas de sens, au pire sont tabous. Ce téléfilm a été produit par le service public. Il avait donc des objectifs précis. Le drame de ce téléfilm, c'est qu'il est certes très beau, mais rend peu justice à l'auteur, car la majorité des spectateurs ne voient que sa partie romantique. Vercors, résistant, a essentiellement écrit un texte de résistance. Certes il y avait dans son œuvre une touche de romance, mais ce n'était pas le message prépondérant. C'était une nouvelle clandestine, destinée à sensibiliser ses compatriotes à la résistance passive - lorsqu'il l'a écrite en 1941. En effet, il a choisi cette intrigue car encore à cette date, avant l'envahissement de la zone libre, les Allemands avaient pour consigne de bien se comporter avec la population, avec des visées purement politiques et non humanitaires. Évidemment, il reste que c'est un très beau film, servi par d'excellents acteurs, 1ers et 2nd rôles. Mais j'aimerais que les spectateurs prennent le temps de lire la nouvelle et également l'excellente préface introductrice (Livre de poche), qui montre la genèse de la nouvelle en éclairant bien le contexte. La première fois que j'ai vu ce téléfilm, moi qui connaissais bien la nouvelle, j'ai été très déçu et j'ai crié à la trahison ! Ensuite, je l'ai revu pour lui-même en essayant de me détacher de Vercors et j'ai adoré.

I was curious about the red and white 4 square flag on his car. I could not find any relationship to the German Wehrmacht but it is an international symbol meaning “heading into danger”. I thought this meaning was a significant detail of what was to come. If anyone has another explanation, I would be interested to know it.

Voir cette version de 2004 n'est pas forcément un bon conseil, car c'est plutôt éloigné de l’œuvre de VercorS. Plutôt voir le film de 1947, très austère. Le mieux est de te faire aider par un vieux, un ancêtre qui aurait connu la guerre petit.

At 7:19 and 7:25 Jeanne was nervous that Werner might go to her instead of her grandfather when she was treating her blisters and catch a glimpse of her. 😃 If Jeanne didn't go to where her grandfather was, Werner would have go to where Jeanne was instead of the fireplace where the grandfather was. It's funny to me because they look like they are playing hide and seek! It's a detail I recently discovered. Have to watch this movie many times for details.

Le drame de ce téléfilm, c'est qu'il est certes très beau, mais rend peu justice à l'auteur, car la majorité des spectateurs ne voient que sa partie romantique. Vercors, résistant, a essentiellement écrit un texte de résistance. Certes il y avait dans son œuvre une touche de romance, mais ce n'était pas le message prépondérant. C'était une nouvelle clandestine, destinée à sensibiliser ses compatriotes à la résistance passive - lorsqu'il l'a écrite en 1941. En effet, il a choisi cette intrigue car encore à cette date, avant l'envahissement de la zone libre, les Allemands avaient pour consigne de bien se comporter avec la population, avec des visées purement politiques et non humanitaires. Évidemment, il reste que c'est un très beau film, servi par d'excellents acteurs, 1ers et 2nd rôles. Mais j'aimerais que les spectateurs prennent le temps de lire la nouvelle et également l'excellente préface introductrice (Livre de poche), qui montre la genèse de la nouvelle en éclairant bien le contexte. La première fois que j'ai vu ce téléfilm, moi qui connaissais bien la nouvelle, j'ai été très déçu et j'ai crié à la trahison ! Ensuite, je l'ai revu pour lui-même en essayant de me détacher de Vercors et j'ai adoré.

I was curious about the red and white 4 square flag on his car. I could not find any relationship to the German Wehrmacht but it is an international symbol meaning “heading into danger”. I thought this meaning was a significant detail of what was to come. If anyone has another explanation, I would be interested to know it.

Bonjour, je suis en troisième et l'on ma demandé de lire "Le silence de la mer" par Vercort. Je n'ai pas bien compris le livre et le film. Est-ce que quelqu'un pourrait m'aider ?

Voir cette version de 2004 n'est pas forcément un bon conseil, car c'est plutôt éloigné de l’œuvre de VercorS. Plutôt voir le film de 1947, très austère. Le mieux est de te faire aider par un vieux, un ancêtre qui aurait connu la guerre petit.
