This is the best and most complete version of Chaplin's 1914 Keystone film RECREATION, out there. And how do I know that? Because, I put it together. I checked every frame from the three versions I had, and picked the best from each.
Once that was done, there was one problem: adding one or two frames that looked different than the ones before them (with contrast and framing differences) at the end of scenes was too jarring sometimes. So unfortunately, I had to pull back and remove some of those frames.
After that. I recreated the opening title for the film. Enjoy
Excellent work! When it hits the pristine print my jaw dropped! You can almost see their breath.

Charlie was the greatest entertainer in the world. Then and now. No one can ever take his place.

Such simple plots in those films. Tough people getting hit with a brick in the head from ten yards away and not even bleeding. Lol!
yeah, the comedic shorts back in the days were basically like a live action version of the old cartoons which followed later , and most likely inspired them too
That sounds about right. That's how I tend to try to explain it to folks who find this vaudeville type humor bad. I met someone who said I Love Lucy was bad because it supports spousal when they do similar type skits. Maybe it can be seen as more of a different time, but physical comedy was a craft that required skill and experience and comedians were very dedicated to their art. Folks had a ball performing and watching these shows back in the day and it's kind of crazy that we still get to see folks who were able to act like that and that they inspired cartoons by doing such crazy stunts!
Belter on comedy acting, great to see him get those guys fighting, when he's trying to chat up the woman,. Then at the end, all of them go in the water, haha, lol.
love this u charlie
Great job! this is far superior to,the restoration from the chaplin at keystone box set(which i own) .though there's a another restoration from cinemuseum that was on turner classic movies as part of the mack sennett studios centennial.
If you have the Cinemuseum version, post it (in HD) on KZhead!
+KLANGkrieg I would if i could for i don't have access very unfortunately.
+KLANGkrieg I do hope you can upload a few of the surviving harold lloyd's lonesome luke's (lonesome luke on tin can alley) soon.since your user id of LL is a picture of luke in a mock-crying pose .
Sorry, I don't have any Lonesome Luke's worth posting.
+KLANGkrieg Do you have one or two and they're too poor to post? is that what you'd meant to say?.
god gift.

klangkrieg, I love this movie recreation. this film was released on 13 august 1914 . I wan t to ask you if you know when was this movie shot or filmed. I ask you because I suppose the film was filmed several weeks before the release, I suppose in july or beginning of august was filmed, but I don t know exactly. do you know when was filmed, the period. thanks.
chirila dorin-alexandru It was filmed close to downtown Los Angeles in Hollenbeck Park, now known as MacArthur Park, which is located in the neighborhood of Silver Lake. 😃
According to the great book “Mack Sennett’s Fun Factory” by Brent E. Walker (published in the USA by McFarland & Company in 2010), the short “Recreation” was shot at Echo Park, L.A., on 20th and 21st of July 1914.
