    • @@colinrunciman5166 no we are not in the same. It's not their license in jeopardy, plus it's the driver getting stuck and not only getting penalised for traffic violations but also any damage done to 3rd party properties. Then there is the hours regulations. Getting stuck can only ruin the best plans ever. Then again it's the driver's name on the taco. IMHO being a hero does not pay off. I'd look up on Google Earth before just to get an idea of what to expect. Narrow like that, I'd call it in and refuse to deliver. There are plenty of jobs out there, but my license is unique to me.

  • Been down roads so narrow that both sides the mirrors folded in and the wheels were up the verges on both sides, prayed I’d get out the other end and luckily I did. Had a bent front wheel doughnut where it had obviously been the nearest part of the wheel to the ground (or tree root) and was missing 3 cup wheel nut indicators. Went to DAF Witham and bought replacement doughnut and nut indicators. Doing sweeping for road surface dressing can get you into totally unsuitable roads because even tiny roads with all sorts of permanent restrictions need resurfacing so weight limits, width limits etc are still resurfaced obviously there are exceptions such as weak bridges and low bridges we do up to each side then by shovel and barrow on the exception. If it’s physically possible to drive there without destroying infrastructure then it gets resurfaced.

  • Done that in deepest, darkest Kent when I was loading Apples to go to Ireland. These narrow roads are an absolute nightmare!! Especially when you have to turn sharp right into a narrow yard, only just wide enough for a jacknife turn around!!

My dad had his HGV1 and PSV from the army without taking tests in the old days 😂 and drove everything and anything - I remember going with him as a child and saying I want to do that when I get old enough! Never did mind!!! No comparison between our UK lorry drivers and European drivers - you are EXCELLENT!!!😊😊😊

  • I live in a place like that & even on the more major roads here the number of times we've had big trucks stuck at certain choke points around this area I've lost count of. I suppose it's about to get worse though with the new larger sizes about to be dropped on us. There's one double bend around here that's tight for two medium sized cars on opposite sides of the road to negotiate & a big truck a while back got the front jammed up on one bend with the back jammed up on the other & it took over a day for it all to be sorted out, it was not helped by the driver being Polish & hopeless at understanding English. So even bigger trucks being allowed with continental drivers is going to be a right load of fun & games.

Please all you road users have a little more respect for the work we do to keep the economy running.

Plus, they'll tell you, "John got down there alright last week". I was sent to Harrods which have a hight restriction, my lorry was too high. I phoned the office and they told me John doesn't have that problem. Mate the f**King lorry is too high, it won't fit through the gap, do you understand?

    @michaelclay6278@michaelclay6278 Жыл бұрын
    • Not really. Since he's often coming out on to a main road again after driving down these tight lanes for miles. He's nowhere near his destination. It's a case of driver blindly following his sat nav, ignoring unsuitable for HGV signs and not planning his OWN route before setting off. He could easily avoid these situations with a bit of due diligence. Not saying wagons don't need to go down these types of roads, but usually only for the last 1/4 of a mile or 1 mile or so. So if this keeps happening, why not think of there's something you, as the driver, could do differently. i.e don't just blindly follow the sat nav and then blame transport managers cuz u can't be bothered to double check where the sat nav is taking u before setting off 😂

    • @Trucking UK I can't say mate, and maybe am talking out my arse lol. I wasn't there, and it's an edited down video. Having driven down these types of roads professionally for 8yrs, I've seen loads of roads that the sat nav has told me to turn down and just thought "nope, fuck that!" and ignored it and carried on. And that's in a 3.5T never mind 44T! You just kinda get a sixth sense for dodgy roads imo. Not hating lad, you're a very skilled driver and entertaining to boot. I passed my class 1 last December and trying to land that first job. Just hope I don't ever find myself down these types of roads 😂 all the best mate.
