The Mous Limitless Re-Review for the iPhone XS. It’s been a long time coming. I’ve actually been using a Mous Limitless 2.0 since earlier this year and I can tell you that up until a couple of weeks ago, I considered it a decent case.
Then Mous got back in touch with me and sent me a few more cases and more important, some of their accessories and now I will say that the Limitless 2.0 is now a pretty AMAZING case. Spoiler alert, I’ve got a new favourite wallet case.

DESIGN
I am VERY impressed the updated design of the Mous Limitless 2.0. The entire case is quite rigid which should prove to be handy when it comes to iPhone protection. Mous’s proprietary material, Airo Shock, is the green material on the inside of the TPU.
Mous provides you with several different finishes to choose from which include carbon fibre, walnut back, shell, leather and bamboo. The shell case is by far my favourite finish on an iPhone case, not because I like the look of the case but because it’s actual shell.
The case looks slick but has enough texture to generally keep it on a flat surface. The Mous Limitless 2.0 has oversized corners which helps with handling and protection. It is also important to note that the mid-section of the case is thins out, sitting almost flush to the iPhone screen.
The last thing I’ll talk about are the magnets that are embedded in the back of the case. This is Mous’s Auto-align system. The magnets are laid out in a way that they do not interfere with Qi-charging from normal desktop chargers or car chargers.
--WALL MOUNT & WALLETS --
For all those times that you wish you could easily see your device, the $25 wall mount is going to be your best friend. There are two magnets on the wall mount that are covered with rubber. The wall mount attaches to whatever surface you decide to use via a 3M stickie.
Mous’s flip wallet attaches to the Limitless magnetically which is similar to my ex-favourite case, Uolo magnetic wallet. Mous’s flip wallet case operates in the same manner BUT has three noticeable features that set it apart. Watch the video for all the details but the card slot on the BACK of the case is handy.
The card wallet is a gem. The auto-align system means that you can use this accessory when you want to, unlike some of the more permanent solutions I’ve seen. If you’re wondering if it comes off during a 5 ft drop? Well, it does not.
--FUNCTIONALITY--
In general, I didn’t have any issues with the access of my iPhone. The Mous Limitless handles subtly well. I say subtly because it handles quite well BUT the grip of the case isn’t in your face like the Speck Presidio Grip. The finish on the edges of the case has enough texture that my generally dry hands can still grip the case easily. The oversized corners sit well in my palms which improves the handling of your iPhone in one hand.
When it comes to the screen protector, Mous includes a plastic triple-layered screen protector made from polycarbonate, TPU and Silicon. The screen protector is tough (make sure you watch the drop tests!) BUT plastic screen protectors generally have a sharp edge. It is quite noticeable.
--PROTECTION--
Did the iPhone X survive 4 dozen drops? Mostly…it’s still usable minus one feature. I won’t spoil it here so watch the drop tests!
Rhinoshield SolidSuit Comparison
There is only one case that comes close to the level of the Mous Limitless and that’s the Rhinoshield SolidSuit which I’m quite fond of. Check out that review if you want all the details.
Both of these products use custom materials in their cases, both are tough and both come in unique finishes. But which one is better? Here’s the lowdown: Get the SolidSuit if you need a camera case OR if you like the subtly customize your the look of your iPhone with coloured buttons. Go with the Mous Limitless for every other reason. Especially if you need a wallet case.

After seeing this review I bought the shell case and the flip wallet for my iPhone 7. I'm absolutely in love with the shell case design. It's so pretty. The flip case is kind off a bummer to me because the 'big flap' (the one that covers your screen) doesn't stay back. I presume that it will when I use it more often. The other thing I dislike is how heavy the phone gets when you put the flip case on it. I've never owned a flip case before so I don't know if that's normal but it bothers me. However, both are made with really nice materials and they're both beautiful. I'm really happy that I decided to buy them! Also, thank you sooooooo much for the discount code! Jared Stockman Hello Jared, I bought the carbon fiber case after looking into if the pop socket would stick to the material. It does and have moved the pop socket various times with no issues. I have also dropped my phone various times and this case is a beast. The only issue I foresee is if I get a wireless charger I will have to replace the pop socket away from the center of the phone. I love using the pop socket with the max because it is big and rather heavy. Hope this helps and best wishes.

I watched this review twice. That's 40 minutes of AtH and MtH! It's nice to see that Mous actually sent you a phone to destroy. It is refreshing to see a company stand by it's products. The only thing keeping me from buying is that i have such a thin awesome case on my phone now I don't know if I would be happy with a case that is slightly larger and probably a good bit heavier. Loved the video though, as always.
Christopher Smith I used to have a thinner case on my iPhone. And when I got the Mous case I did not realize very much of a difference. Also it’s not much heavier either. It depends what phone you have. It was a bit lighter on my iPhone 6, but when I upgraded to the iPhone 8. It’s a bit heavier because the iPhone 8 is a bit heavier. But not very noticeable. The case is thin. And when I got it from a thinner case I thought the same. But I love it and it’s not much of a difference.
Christopher Smith i like my rhinoshield mod and light up apple logo case so im debating on it you know Plus the X is already a heavy device compared to my 7, sooo im very iffy about thickness and weight, snd the rhinoshield mod is fine (i have it as a bumper always)

Been waiting for this review. The Mous is a BEAST. Had mine on my iPhone X since April and it’s hands down the best iPhone case I’ve owned. Have all the accessories too which are also fantastic. Also mous customer service is brilliant. I’ve had an instance where my flip wallet was damaged through no fault of my own and had it replaced after one email and pictures sent to show what had happened. I’ve been using Mous for months as well on my iPhone 8! I have had an issue once, so I sent them a message through their Facebook page! They responded very fast and resolved the issue in no time! I have never had a better case, i was treated better online by Mous than I was when I went to the Apple store when my old iPhone 6 battery died. I’m very happy with Mous.

I’ve had the iPhone 8 walnut 2.0 case for about a year now & have been super happy with it. I mountain bike regularly and the case saved my thigh from a rock impact on a bad fall.. the wood is pretty impacted but the phone is fine and I walked away with a large bruise, but I bet I woulda had a major laceration in my leg if I didn’t have the phone in my pocket where the rock hit. I’m so happy with the case I just bought the carbon fiber one, also the discount code helped ;)

Will the magnets on the back affect the phone signal or internal hardware?
We wouldn't have used magnets if it interfered with any phone functions. After LOTS of testing, we found everything's good

I have a Mous limitless 1.0 on my iPhone 8, and I just got the 2.0 but I have not officially started using it yet. I realized with the 1.0 it does not work with wireless charging. But in the 2.0 it seems to work. So I am kinda curious about that. I would really like to see a tear down of the case.
Koen Johnson i think you should check excessorize me, he tear down the mous case 2.0.. The mous 2.0 use three small magnets (as mentioned by Aaron in this video) not like the mous 1.0 with one big layer of magnet, so the case can through for wireless charging

I remember seeing your first review when Mous was still in the crowd funding days; your review was the best combination of practicality and honesty for this (and other) products. I still bought the case but I heavily weighed your video in consideration. I’m super happy with my case, and glad you got to see the non-prototype version in all it’s glory. iPascal mous for sure. Had one for 7 months and it can take a bartering whilst maintaining a slim profile. I don’t even flinch if I drop my phone. Even on concrete
I have used all the cases you listed above, I got a Mous case a few months ago, and I am extremely ruff with my phones, and breaking them with the other cases, I found Mous to me the absolute most durable , stylish , and thin way to go. I highly recommend them. I use their case to this day. And I will never use a different brand ever again.
Koen Johnson i think rhinoshield is the thinnest above three cases, but mous is better to hold above three case (it is because of slimmed bezel on the side and blocky backplate)
As I said at the end of the video, if you need camera accessories, so with the SolidSuit. If you need a wallet case, go with the Limitless. Use the Symmetry only if you need a case RIGHT NOW or if you want to add a custom photo to the back of the case.

Some of the magnetic mounts for the iPhone X aren’t strong enough and the phone ends up sliding down. Have you used it and do you have the same problem?

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE: It's now been 18 DAYS and i haven't received my Mous case. My new phone has just been sitting collecting dust, SO frustrating when you're forced to use an old phone with no battery life because you're waiting on a protective case. The first package was lost in transit and the second one was sent without a tracking number...maybe I'll wait another 18 days? Arg. Totally should have just ordered one on Amazon, would have arrived in 2 days.

Any (decent) phone case will set you back at least $40 USD... but this one is bullet proof. I can use my case (dark walnut 2.0) while in business attire, and on outdoor adventures and it’s flawless. The additional cost is minuscule compared to the cost of a new phone
this or CATALYST IMPACT?
That's a tough one. The Limitless is tougher by a bit. I don't think the Catalyst Impact could handle face first drops as well.
Thank you. I have the catalyst, but I ordered the limitless (carbon for extra protection) because I am not a fan of cleaning the phone often due to the clear back of that case. However, the twist nob on the catalyst is one of the best features I have seen on any case. The rhinoshield mod was nice because of the buttons, but the non clear/glass back cracked on me multiple times.
