I tested the C43 and bought the M340i
I would definitely go for the M340i , pure flat 6 cylinders.

I was shopping both of these vehicles. The inline 6 of the BMW is what did it for me plus it is MUCH cheaper in Australia compared with the C43 AMG - even fully loaded.

For the (stupid) price that MB is asking for that C43, there's clearly no "vs". The engine alone plus the price of the M340i make it a no brainer.

How can you decide that the c43 is a better every day car if you dont test them both on the road back to back, I've heard that m340i in comfort mode is more comfortable and quieter than the c43
C43 on comfort only tire noice comes inside. Haven't driven 340i but i enjoy the C43 as my daily
And to my eyes the 340i is also much better looking with that purposeful and sporting stance. Though styling preference is of course subjective.

I LOVE the motor in the BMW (B58). And the BMW I must admit is more of a drivers car. But, I LOVE MERCEDES. And the look of the Mercedes 10/10. Especially, if it is black. But both are German, and both are BEAUTIFUL.

Both cars are amazing. If you want more sporty then BMW, more luxury and comfort then it's the Benz
I own a m440 and comfort wise it is way better than c43 which is super stiff even in comfort mode.

There were drag races in other channels and M340i beats over c43 easily
@@manofsesame3024 its actually quite close. C43 does 4.2 or 4.3 0-100, depending wich channel you watch. Whereas the bmw does 4.1 or 4.0 depending on the channel. So yes the Bmw is quicker but not a crazy difference.

The Mercedes interior LOOKS nice but FEELS cheap. Everything below the dash sight line and lower half of the doors is hard plastic. I've seen brand new cars on the floor with scratches on the lower doors that won't come out from people getting in and out because it's just hard cheap plastic. Also, a 4 cylinder isn't going to cut it. Mercedes is a shell of the brand it used to be. Press on parts of that interior and it creaks. Older Mercs were never like that. They were actually solid and well built. Not plastic with hairdryer engines.
Engine in the BMW is better too.

@@SDav21 I was cross shopping between the M340i , C43 & RS3. The 4 cylinder made it a hard NO for the Merc. Huge mistake by Mercedes to go from 3.0 V6 to 2.0 I4 on the C43.
I actually found that a big factor to never buy a mercedes. I was at the Zurich yearly car show called Automesse. You can sit in cars and play with infotainment and feel the quality and check them out. I sat in a GLE because my dad was thinking of buying one, and jesus christ was it horrible, the buttons on the steering wheel were creaking, not to mention the whole dash and the piano black was full of fingerprints. It felt cheap too, the metallic grey buttons on the steering wheel are kind of a matt grey plastic finish and it felt HORRIBLE. Mercedes interior looks nice but seriously feels extremely cheap, especially in the newer cars... quite disappointing tbh.

In timed drag tests the M340i was quicker in a straight line. In timed slalom, figure 8 and track tests the AMG has beaten the BMW in every comparison I’ve seen. They credit better turn in and grip thanks the the rear wheel steering, stiffer chassis and more sophisticated suspension set up.

We’ve always known that the 340i is the car of choice, the c43 is a blast, not sure why Mercedes had to give a middle finger to AMG enthusiasts, they should have used the C43 as the new 63s, that 340i hauls A$$ fr, i own that car and damn damn damn damn!!! That 340i is not only just track focused car, it smokes that benz in a straight line, i have smoked one of my friends who owns the C43, over and over and over!!
I've always kept right next to m340is run after run. Good rivals

You´re wrong. looks = BMW! Kidneys could be done better, how all lines go together, could be better, thought F30 looked more aggressive at the front dressed in M sport clothes, but also a question of getting used to new designs I'll get there. Beemer all day though

Doesn't the C43 have 300kw and 500nm of torque and BMW 275kw and 500nm?
I think the C43 has 310kw and 500nm (A45 S engine) and M340i has 285kw and 500nm.
Not a great review at all CarMag. Sorry I think you're losing your way. For me I would take the BMW M340i X-drive it's more of a driver's car.

I went for the BMW simply for the price difference and the significantly better engine. It wasn’t much of a debate in the end.

The best, or nothing. All those in on the 340 are just mad they couldn’t swing the AMG. Tell your friends you have a 3 series. Then tell them you have a Mercedes AMG. See what they say.

Lol that c43 is a joke no noise or exictment at all also styling wise id go m340i all day every day i think the benz is far too round and soft looking while the bmw looks chunky and agressive. Benz interior looks special but it really isnt onde you touch the surfaces. Everything in the bmw is so robust and well made and has a nice elegant design simple yet refined. Ive driven both and can tell you right now the m340i is not only way more engaging to drive but it is actually faster plus the gear chnages in sport plus are nice and strong with some lovely overrun when downshifting
The 2020 - 2022 c43 sounded amazing and blew the sound off the m340i. Sad change

The guy driving both cars is clearly biased and drove the Mercedes like a granny and then jumped in the Beemer and drove it like he stole it. He raved about the m340 from the start of the video. If he would of drove both cars the same then this comment section would be less biased. There's nothing but BMW fanboys that flood these type of videos.
@talkditingsdem5799 or believe or not the c43 just isn't as good as the m340i if the merc was as good as they claim it to be then you wouldn't have loads of merc fan boys crying about lack of sound, excitement and just overall fun. I own this great driving 2023 BMW M340i xDrive. I love driving this car very much, it is a fun car to drive. But ... I hate the new controls on this car as everything you must do is thru the center screen, and I mean everything. This is very dangerous as the driver must take their eyes off the road to change or do whatever they need to do and as every control is layers deep it takes time and long effort to do the changes. Whoever designed this horrible and dangerous system should be fired. BMW must change this terrible and unfriendly dangerous system ASAP. I made a mistake buying this car. If you are thinking about buying this model car do yourself a huge favor and check these very dangerous shortcomings BEFORE you buy it. You can thank me later.
