  • Co-sign with a lot of Luke's comments in this video. These balls look great, and I'm sure the pros will love them, but does the average semi-competitive bowler really need more than one or two of the Sublime, Infused, Summit Pearl, Journey, Zen Gold Label, etc.? Plus, some of us lower-speed, medium-rev folks need new things to throw, too!

  • I love my infused. I can honestly say its my game 3 ball in league with 200+ games every time. I like how the infused reads the friction and then I know what line to use.

  • Thank you for the comparison. This is the exact one I was hoping to see. Especially since the numbers are so close.

  • I have a feeling the infused is the ball most likely to get lost in the strong symmetrical shuffle, just because the original was so widely panned.

  • Got to throw both of these at a matchmaker recently and had very different results. Sublime was nice and smooth while infused looked like someone kicked it sideways at 40 feet. Higher friction surface probably a contributor but it was easy math

    @Brian_B300@Brian_B3005 ай бұрын
    • Yeah I can believe that because again, the infused is the quicker ball to respond to friction, and with the weaker cover, more friction will make it look bigger

  • If i already have a Zen Gold Label and an Xponent, do i have room for a Sublime? I've been searching for the perfect step-down ball from the Reality (sometimes BW 2.0 hybrid) and thought i might have found it...twice...but i remain looking for something that might work better. I feel like I'll make good shots, but get to where i can't seem to buy a strike bc I'll leave 1 standing. I've considered the Phaze II, of course (although im worried it's too close to the Xponent), Summit, and now the Sublime. Sublime looks really tasty.... Keep up the kick-ass content!

    @mattvongruben@mattvongruben5 ай бұрын
    • Sounds like you might want an eternity. That thing is gold for me when the reality starts to quit. The thing is, you've mentioned almost exclusively sym balls, but you're trying to find a step down from the most angular asym ball that I'm aware of (outside of the discontinued altered reality). The Eternity has a similar core/cover to the reality, but is pearl and shiny, so an easy step-down from the reality.

      @drakedbz@drakedbz5 ай бұрын
    • Yeah I'd agree that you probably are after an Eternity, seems to fit your description. As far as the P2 and XP though, the P2 is a LOT stronger than the XP, they're not in similar strength zones at all.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl5 ай бұрын
  • Do you feel like either one is more or less likely to "miss the spot"? They both look neat, but my arsenal is getting a bit crowded, so I'm getting a bit more picky.

    @drakedbz@drakedbz5 ай бұрын
    • Not really, but for different reasons. The Infused rolls super early and prettu heavy and the Sublime also rolls earlier and revs up quickly, bit has the stronger cover. I feel like the Sublime is better at handling shots that could potentially miss the spot. The Infused labors and rolls out if it's forced to make up too much ground down lane

  • i wish SPI would stop releasing so many balls. it's insane. nobody can afford to get all of them but honestly nobody needs all of them because they're all essentially the same now.

    • I think they are testing cores and coverstocks, keeping them similar to others to see

      @Thunderpulse@Thunderpulse5 ай бұрын
    • Eh, they can test cores and covers without releasing the ball, they do that all the time, plus with all the releases overseas they get a lot of feedback from that too.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl5 ай бұрын
    • This comment is stupid. SPI isn’t trying to get people to “buy all of them”. And no bowlers are trying to buy all of them anyways. There is certainly overlap. So pick the brand you want, pick the color you want. Or don’t.

    • When I hear Zen like, it means these balls would be stronger than the Journey? The Journey is on top of the Summit when the lanes break down, but seems to kick the corners out better at that time. That’s why we buy all these balls. Anything less than 270 singles or 525 doubles won’t cash.

  • hi luke i’m currently running the dna, phaze 2/tdx and revenant in that order as a 2 handed leftie throwing 14 pounds coming back from injury i don’t think i struggle with creating different shapes and ball roll but i’d like to supplement my arsenal in terms of traction & ability to play various patterns and parts of the lane though straighter angles are always preferred would the journey be a better fit between the p2 and revenant or would the sublime/summit peak be more ideal (honestly worried about how i might not be accustomed to the super low rg as 14lb balls all have increased rg) similarly would something like an exotic gem or eternity be better, heard you say on the sport essentials video that two handers would benefit from the blendy nature of the exotic’s torque thanks alot in advance luke :)

    @mikew8621@mikew86215 ай бұрын
    • It's really tricky for people that throw 14 because of the higher RGs. I think the Journey would be a better fit between the P2 and Revenant and I really think it's better the higher your rev rate is. The Summit is actually stronger than the P2, and may even be stronger than the DNA, mostly just because of how much stronger the core numbers are vs other 14 pound stuff. The Sublime maybe even too, though it's definitely cleaner and sharper than the Summit.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl5 ай бұрын
    • @@LukeRosdahlhi luke so it wouldn’t be ridiculous to run something like summit > sublime > dna > phaze 2/tdx > revenant as a 2 hander throwing 14lb as crazy as that sequence seems without the need for asymmetric pieces

      @mikew8621@mikew86215 ай бұрын
    • Not necessarily, and yeah just because of the different core strengths, you might get more overall strength out of a 14 pound symmetric ball with 15 pound numbers.

  • I am trying to look for something between the Phaze 2 and IQ Tour Ruby, would sublime fit better or the TNT Infused? Currently I'm leaning more towards the sublime

    @tryingtobowlbetter@tryingtobowlbetter4 ай бұрын
    • The Infused is more of a direct split between the two balls, the Sublime is closer to the P2, BUT if you keep the Sublime shiny and the P2 dull, it would work, and I do think the Sublime is the more versatile between it and the Infused.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl4 ай бұрын

      @tryingtobowlbetter@tryingtobowlbetter4 ай бұрын
  • Sublime more stable to me. Like he consistently gets more of the same motion where as the Infused looks like it sometimes gets longer down the lane and jumps left hard when it hits the friction. Almost as if it is more speed sensitive than the Sublime on the back end. Perhaps that is because the stronger cover of the Sublime reads sooner and blends more?

    @willjames6437@willjames64375 ай бұрын
    • Yep, I'd say you're reading it exactly correct

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl5 ай бұрын
  • To be honest what is your opinion on SPI releasing the sublime and summit peak so close together despite them being extremely similar balls on paper.

    @lildumpling3108@lildumpling31084 ай бұрын
    • Even worse, go back a couple months. Summit drops late June, strong symmetric ball. Zen Gold Label drops shortly thereafter, strong symmetric ball. Next, TNT Infused, strong symmetric ball. Journey right on top of it, strong symmetric ball. Sublime right behind it, strong symmetric ball . . and then right on top of it, Summit Peak . . again . . you guessed it . . strong symmetric ball. Global's lineup looks atrocious, the Sublime, Zen, and ZGL are all on top of each other, then you go up to Reality and Eternity's, minor variation, then you drop all the way down to the XPonent all by itself. Roto, Hp4 line has 3 uber strong Gems all right on top of each other, then a big drop down to the Clone. Then you half step down to the TNT & Infused, then there's the TDX in there which is basically a Hyped Solid that shapes different, then you have virtually zero difference between the Hyped and Hustle lines because they have the same cover formula, and the Hyped core is so close in strength to the Hustle core that it's virtually impossible to feel the difference. So basically you have the Gems and then a big step down to everything else Storm at least has some variation, but a big part of it is having 4 mainstay balls. The Phaze 2 and IQ Tour anchor the master line no matter what, and the Hyroads are big catch all balls in the medium to weaker zone. The DNA was nowhere near as strong as they billed it, the Blackout is a good complement for it, then they had a cleaner asym in the Absolute before they got rid of it, now the Power is coming and I think it fits well. Summit and Summit Peak are right on top of each other, but there's a good mix of stuff all the way down with the Journey and Hyroads until we get into the forgotten Hot line where they just keep releasing one pearl Electrify after another. So yeah, releasing ball after ball in one certain line when there are glaring holes all over the place just doesn't make any sense.

  • I have an issue with my infused quitting around the corner. I drilled it to be able to cover some boards, kind of if my zen or IQ tour just isn't quite turning down lane. Unfortunately as I get anywhere left of 3rd arrow it quits on me. I am not a ranker by any means but I spend a good chunk of my day left of 3rd arrow in general. Are there any surface prep suggestions to help it out? I had my proshop guy redo the finish to get rid of the gloss and put normal shine one it and it helped but not a ton.

    @williamjones4185@williamjones41855 ай бұрын
    • No, just kind of a misunderstanding of the ball. It's very early rolling, plus it's forward too, so it really doesn't want to cover boards. It does for Zach because he can make any ball do virtually anything, but it still naturally resists angle a lot like the Zen does. It's really just virtually a cleaner and sharper Zen.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl5 ай бұрын
    • @@LukeRosdahl I can actually cover a ton of boards with my zen of I slow down and get around it in the right scenario. I've gotten it back from 5th arrow a few different times. I think I was tricked into thinking the infused was the next dare devil danger with the colors. What ball would you reccomended for what I was looking for?

      @williamjones4185@williamjones41855 ай бұрын
    • Well yeah but you can do that with everything. You can get any ball to do virtually anything if you exaggerate what you do to it enough. The Infused is almost exactly the Danger for me lol, of course I threw the Danger righty, but the Infused reminds me a ton of the Danger. If you want something to be able to cover some boards, would probably go for the Virtual Energy Blackout, it's one of the best at covering boards that I've ever thrown.

    • @fareal_shotta That's weird, everyone in my area seems to be pleasantly surprised by them, and that's been the general sentiment. Interesting to hear this though, there are SEVERAL people that have commented this same thing.

      @LukeRosdahl@LukeRosdahl4 ай бұрын
  • I had the Infused. I tried a bunch of surface adjustments. 2000,3000,4000,Step 2. None seemed to work very well for me. Tried the fresh, burn, etc... I could get a decent look on the burn, but I have other balls I feel more comfortable using in those situations. The Sublime's finishing power is very attractive to me since I am 350-380 rev, 15.0mph bowler. I live between 2nd and 3rd arrow as most do, but I like to venture between 1st and 2nd and then closer to 4th when I need (adjusting mph accordingly). Finishing power has been my issue for a while. I don't give the ball a lot of rotation. So the ball that has been helping me the most lately is the Primal Shock with 2000 and a smooth pin and a lane shined pin down Brutal Collision. I am hoping to make the Sublime my goto when the pattern doesn't have the volume (my house seems to put out a different "house shot" every fn week). I was thinking of something with a slightly taller pin to really give me some back end pop since the core is so strong.

    • I had the exact same experience with the Infused... tried 3 or 4 different surfaces, sometimes I throw it on 2nd shift on the burn but its not necessarily my best look for that. Sublime has been money for me, seems to read earlier and continue, had 760 with it and was able to use it on the fresh all the way thru my 3 league games
