Testing TOP Professional Hair Dryer vs DYSON!
Today, I’m testing the world’s lightest hair dryer that weighs under 1 pound! That’s so incredibly light. This professional hair dryer has the same amount of force as the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer at 110,000 RPMs. Since both hair dryers are similar in price, I decided to test both to see which hair dryer is faster, more comfortable to hold, better settings, better results and best overall. If you’ve tried both or either pro hair dryer, which one is your favorite and why?

Lol I was waiting for you to stick the Gamma through the Dyson opening cause that’s what I would’ve done
Omgosh I was thinking that very same thing....it's exactly what I would have tried to do!!
Lol
😂 awesome. And also brilliant lol
9:39 - it looks like she thought about it when she was showing off during her comparison at the end 😆
DEMONETIZED
I’m a stylist and for me it’s all about the speed. I’ve used the dyson for a few years bc whenever I compare it’s ALWAYS faster. How smooth the hair is has more to do with product, technique, brush type, and using a nozzle. I couldn’t get over that high pitched sound the gamma makes, compared to the dyson it sounds like a jet lol.
Thank you for clarifying what I was saying about the Dyson hun. Even when all 6 are going in the salon it’s not deafening and you hear clients talking to you. I wouldn’t use any other hairdryer now! So many of my clients have bought the Dyson supersonic after they have seen us all in the salon use them on their hair.
Same! That high pitched sound irritates the heck out of me and my son 😅 that’s why i still prefer dyson
have you tried the revair? if so, do you recommend that?
There has more great options for everybody, such as Laifen, Creade
Next time use the Dyson first bc that side of your hair had a chance to air dry and gets some of the heat from the other one. So I think the timing is not a good measure
I agree - the Dyson side had almost five more minutes to air dry before starting.
Your right! I didn't even think of that!
Nah. When I put my hair in a knot like she did, it might not dry all day (seriously) and my hair is really similar.
I just got a Dyson myself, I have very thick and long hair. I used it on pretty wet hair and I was completely done in 7 minutes. So I would say that her time frame is pretty good.
That's what I was thinking too.
Dyson has a professional version as well. I’m a professional. You have to call them for it. The magnets are stronger on it, which helps hold the attachments on while using. I love it.
The newest professional one has a different filter too!
@@aliciadixon5804 how is it different? Mine stops the motor when any hair is detected. That’s my only beef with this dryer.
@@Pocketpebbledesigns with the old one after a while even dust could set off the sensor so it would make the dryer stop. They wanted you to clean the filter every day, but you couldn’t remove the filter you just had to brush the surface off. The newest version the filter is completely removable so you can actually soak it in soapy water and clean it fully. Way better in the long run.
All the magnets are the same for both pro and home have been since the magnets were updated
@@Pocketpebbledesigns the cord is way longer. Mine died after 2 years I was so mad. And right when the warranty ended.
Love these comparison videos. Answers so many questions for me. Thank you for putting this them together.
My hairdresser uses the gamma but I hate the high pitched sound. I just bought the dyson and I’m in love. Faster drying time is a win for everyone!
To a certain degree the Dyson was going to be quicker, as its hair got to hang & dry ambiently for several minutes, whilst you were using the other dryer.
Whattt I’ve been watching Milana for a good few years, how have I only just now noticed that she averages about 40-50k views??? How is that even possible??? The video production, the set up, the quality, the video ideas etc she is so under rated!!!! Your effort doesnt go unnoticed by your regular viewers like myself boo!!
Honestly up until last week I only watched her videos on Facebook. I never thought about looking her up on KZhead. I like her KZhead channel better bc I’m seeing more videos than I would on fb. I feel like her following goes way farther than her KZhead channel though
I had these thoughts exactly! I only noticed the view numbers last week too. I used to watch her on Facebook but I got rid of it before Christmas so have been watching her channel so would make sense to me what Leslie said!
@@emmaowen3534 I’m not a big user of Facebook but I do see her Facebook videos from time to time but I much prefer her KZhead as it’s a more personal space and instead of just reviewing the product she actually talks on a deeper level and I like that
Algorithms! Be sure to like and share! I had to hunt to find this.
I'm a licensed pro....I love my dyson pro! It's all about preference, I prefer the short body of the dyson, I don't have to hold my arms up as high while drying hair all day!
As a professional hairdresser that has used both Dyson and Gama over a period of 3 months. I loooooved the Gama! It dries the hair so much faster. It’s so much easier to use as I use the dryer to miniver the hair. Also Gama has a self cleaning option for the filter. Prolongs it’s life.
Exactly I have the dyson but I don’t use it on clients bc there’s no where to rest the hair and I miniver it around.. gama seems like a good option rn might buy it.
She just showed the Dyson dried her hair almost twice as fast as the Gama. What arevyou talking about?
@Val Yum because Hairdressers style hair while drying it .Most stylists don't blast dry the hair without using a styling brush etc.
@Val Yum the experiment here yielded false results because of her poor demonstration method. Hair drys on its own so the time between first half and second half alone skewed the time, but not only that, the ambient air and heat from the first half would have accelerated the second half as well. Hair is also often different in density from side to side. A more accurate experiment would have involved doing 2 complete blowouts with the same exact support product and tools and the same section sizes and method of drying.
Is the gama dual voltage
I agonized for a few months over which one of these to buy (though I had wanted the Dyson for years), but the gamma's high pitch squeal is something that I just wouldn't be able to adapt to. I went with the Dyson Supersonic Professional and I absolutely love it! The Dyson's quietness makes it possible to have conversations with your guests while doing their hair, not to mention, the way the attachments are designed, you can turn them and change them without burning your fingers. It's the best!
There is alternative choice nowadays. Like F1 high speed hair dryer
Great Video, thanks for showing us the comparison.
Love my Dyson. Especially now that they have added the gentle scalp attachment.
As a stylist there's a reason the dryer needs to be longer. It helps when drying client's hair as you can use the dryer itself to move hair around. Cannot do that with the dyson.
If you’re using an attachment, you can.
My thought exactly! I’d be punching people in the head with the dyson. Lol. I just personally need a longer nozzle so I like the Gama.
for 26 years i was an avid nozzle holder as a professional stylist. never thought i could adapt to the dyson. now i cant go back. my dyson has gone out twice and they have been great about replacing it. but now they are out of stock. searching around i think ill just buy one at full price to get me by. because the time savings is significant
@@wigburner for the price you're paying i don't imagine it going out in at least 10 years 😢
Long time Dyson user here. I think your hair looks way more smooth on the Gamma side. My biggest issue with the Dyson is that I can’t stand that the filter is at the bottom of the handle. I find myself covering it constantly and it will actually short my Dyson and I’ll be unable to finish drying my hair.
I just purchased the dyson! I saved my ulta points and gift cards and got the dyson for almost half price. I’m so excited!
I’m scared to do that because what it it breaks you need that warranty from their legit website
@@jh6096 No you don't :) as long as it's a genuine Dyson it comes with a 2 year standard warranty
How did you get on with the Dyson? Did it break?
It's not like there's a huge difference in price and I think the Dyson did the better job. I have the Dyson and I am still not perfect at doing the perfect blowout. Thank you for this video 💕!
Absolutely love your videos and your sweet little family! Hope you are all doing well!!!
Love your videos love! 😘🥰 hanks for the review!
As a professional, I prefer the gama. It’s self cleaning and super light. My co worker has the dyson and hers is constantly over heating and I’ve heard many other professionals say their dyson stopped working after a few months. My Gama is still going strong after 7 months of use. I also am not a fan of dyson in general. Their cordless vacuum I have is not good. I’ve already had to replace the battery after 1 month of use so as soon as it breaks again im buying the cordless shark. The only thing I would change about the Gama is how loud it is
I wish it didn't have a high pitch sound. My co worker in the salon uses the gama and everyone said it sounded like a dentist drill :( I wanted the gama before that
Wow your hair has gotten so long!!! It looks so beautiful
Could you try the Panasonic Nanoe Salon Hair Dryer with Oscillating Quickdry Nozzle? I’ve never seen a hair dryer like that one.
I like and have been using the Dyson - hands down in design and ease of use - durable too. Problem is I don’t like to travel with it in case I lose it or power issues in diff countries - so Looking to get the T3 lightweight for traveling
I invested in the red dyson today I can’t wait! Thanks to Afterpay too 😁
I only have the Dyson airwrap and I blow my hair with it and my hair is so healthy bc it doesn’t use hot heat.
2 of our stylist have the gamma and love it. One of the stylist has the dyson. I do know the stylist use the dryer to hold the hair on while using a round brush which you can't do as well on the dyson.
As a client I prefer not to have my hair rest on a part of the dryer that may not get cleaned between uses, so that’s a point for the Dyson from me!
I would have the lightest thanks for sharing ♥️
Thank you for this video. It’s helping me to make a decision to fork out big bucks on a Dyson.
I tried both and thought the Dyson was easier to use but the I Q Perfetto was lighter.
As a stylist I feel the length would be helpful because when I blowdry I use the blowdryers to catch the section of hair I am working on between passes... if that makes sense... so I feel like it depends on how you use the tool. :)
I am not a stylist and only occasionally use my blow dryer but I can also see the advantage of having the length as I usually use the barrel to help pick up sections of hair, but the Dyson would probably be my choice if I were going to choose one for home use... and of course if I was going to pay that much for one!! I love my $100 Wahl 😊
Licensed master cosmetologist here and I won’t use anything other than the Dyson in my salon! Had 6 of them for 4 years and not had an issue with one of them! And they get used 6 days a week and at least 6-8 times a day! We all love them and they are still going strong! XOXO
6 dyson’s in 4 years?? My last dryer lasted 3 years and it was a twin turbo. I wouldn’t spend that much money on a dryer that doesn’t last at least a year.
@@nikkinelmes1645 they mean they’ve bought 6 in one go 4 years ago. Not 6 in 4 years
@@nikkinelmes1645 Nikki I believe you misunderstood what Dean said about the longevity of the Dyson - I believe he said they had 6 Dysons in use ALL at the same time and they lasted for 4 years - not that he needed to go through or replace 6 Dyson dryers in 4 years. My Dyson has lasted 3 years now but I only use it about 4 times a week - not the same wear and tear a professional stylist puts on a dryer so prospective buyers should judge accordingly.
Hi! I really enjoy your reviews. Can you do a comparison between the new shark hair dryer and Dyson.
I think if it’s lighter but takes longer, it’s truly a wash. If you do hair for a living, getting done faster is a huge win. You’re holding the weight for less time, you’re finishing with clients faster (good for everyone, lol) and less time the hair is getting heat and friction. Dyson for the win. 👏🏻❤️👏🏻
hi malibu what is the spray you put on your hair before you blow dry? i’m worried blow dry might damage my hair. thank you
Hey! Can you review the foxybae blowout brush with other similair blowout brushes? not sure if youve done them before...
Love these comparison videos. Answers so many questions for us. Thank you for putting this them together. Enbuty hair dryer is also perfect for fast drying and hair care, we would be very grateful if you could do a comparison video for our products as well.😀
What are your thoughts on the diffuser attachment, air flow etc vs the Dyson one? I can't use Dyson (because of the magnets) and wondered if the Gama might do instead. I only diffuse my hair. Recently found your channel and love the cool, elegant but realistic vibe. Thanks!
My problem is for me I need a pretty short nozzle. I mostly use my Revlon One Step anymore.
Great review! Please review more cordless flat irons
I got the professional dyson and used it on my 4c hair last night and it dried within 10 min I mean I have a LOT of hair so I am sold
You can keep the hand on the top part of the drier (as my hairstylist does) instead of the usual vertical part
Such pretty hair!
Some incorrect things here. First let me say I'm a licensed pro and have had both dryers and prefer the iq. Firstly, the gama has an autoclean is far better on the iq and it is way easier to take care of. Now, the experiment was a little skewed by doing one before the other because that other side would have been exposed to hair dry and ambient heat and air from the iq. Next, the motor in the dyson is in the handle which is why the filter is down there as well. The motor in the gama is in the middle of the top portion of the dryer which is why it is longer. Speed wise they are the same after using both on my clients. One of the big issues I have with dyson is their service. In a professional setting the dryer does not last long and once broken if you're even a little outside the warranty they will not help you. There was a licensed dyson repair shop in my area so I asked dyson if they offered repair services so I could pay for repairs instead of paying for a new dryer. They don't even offer those repairs. The gama barrel allows me to move more efficiently because I do not have to set it down and pick it back up due to design. There are a few things that I agree could be better designed BUT ultimately it's benefits definitely outweigh the dyson. For stylists wanting to purchase the gama dryer, visit salon service group. In addition to having a brick and mortar communication point to go through for warranty exchanges you also get a 90 day return/exchange policy over the 30 day policy from the site. I'm sure there are things I missed but this is just my take.
Too long. I won't be reading.
@@123hhww What a stupid comment.
@@xy7393 stupid comment indeed lmao, hard not to laugh. but ty OP for the insight
Excellent comment. Plus the Gama is literally $200 less expensive. My 2nd half of half always dries fast because physics.
This as helped. I will not support Dyson because he is pro Brexit. I’ve been looking for an alternative - the OP has swung it.
Dyson definitely for consumers (self) Gama for professional (multiple heads in one day). The difference in time was crazy though! Please do one for Gama vs. O2!
I have never used either, but I've sold many of both. I get better reviews on the IQ than the Dyson. I've had 2 Dyson returned, not for defects but just buyers remorse I guess, but no one has ever wanted to send back a IQ. However, I gave a Dyson to my GF for Christmas and she is thrilled with it. So I think both would work well, but each have pros and cons for different uses.
My hairdressers dyson died after a year.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For this video!
To do a more correct comparison you would have to dry each side at the *same* time.... otherwise the side that was tested last, had more time to air dry... between taking, etc... Just a thought, thanks for the comparison:)
Love my Dyson too!! Thanks to you!!!..Hugs and Love Loretta
Interesting points about the sound because the Gama is only 78db and the Dyson is 79db
gama is so high pitched, it sounds like a dentist drill to me.
Licensed hairdresser here. Won’t ever use anything other than the IQ. It’s perfection
Hi! How much is the IQ?
licensed hairstylist also and I enjoy using the IQ
@@nickijaycox7773 did you watch video? 🥺 she gave price in video.
I'm a licensed cosmetologist and literally after 2 months my IQ stopped working I spent nearly 400 dollars on it. Then I bought a dyson hasn't failed me yet
@@WillieKlondike9482 I agree. I had two Dyson in 2 months. Junk.
I know exactly what I want from a hairdryer. One that is light, compact and quiet. A hairdryer that has a proper cool setting, is kind to my hair and leaves it shiny. It seems impossible to find one that ticks all the boxes but looks like the Dyson is the closest. Thank you for such a well presented comparison. Yours has been the most helpful one that I have watched. Can't believe I want to spend so much on a hairdryer, but since my old trusty has just died, I'd better start saving towards a Dyson straight away.
Is this hair dryer worth to buy if u already have the airwrap?
Idk why you’d test the time that’s just a dependent on how wet your hair is. If you’re just going for speed then your hairs gonna come out mid anyway, take some time and make it look good.
You also have to factor in The dyson side did sit air drying while you filmed blow dried and All the little extra stops ..the roots were probably hit by the gamma
I just use my Remington hair dryer with the nozzle and diffuser attachments and I'm happy with how it works 😊😊❤❤😊😊❤❤ I can't afford the dyson that's why I own a remington hair dryer
Professional hairdresser here... I've used dyson for years and last year I tried the latest IQ... And I likes it a lot although it definitely feels cheap it works pretty cool and I like when I feel like the blowdrier is pushing itself back and all of that but after a week and 3 different IQ blowdriers... I gave up. All of them eventually overheated... One of them even melted the nozzle! That sadly shows how cheaply they are made. Once they improve their materials I would love one but for the time being... I'm buying my second dyson, having my first one lasting me for almost 6 years and still being the king of smoothing and not as hot that it will melt hair...
I love the dyson for at home but the gamma is better for all day long blowdrying at the salon
I feel like your hair looks better on the IQ side especially towards the bottom.
Wanting to see a comparison between the new hair dryer by Dreame vs dyson 😻
Lovely video albeit from a consumer rather than professional's perspective. Firstly I'm a professional stylist of three decades plus experience. The most important issues in the long run are: weight, power, ergonomics and, further down- sound. 294 grams vs 650 grams. Take two glasses with water of the above weight and hold them in outstretched hands. That will give you an answer regarding the importance of LIGHT weight tool. Secondly, ergonomics. There's a reason why hand guns are the shape they are. They are the example of close to perfect ergonomic shape. A 'T' shape is not. Thirdly, the short nozzle on Dyson renders it useless as a tool in blow drying in synch with a hair brush. When it comes to power, both are so similar, you're splitting hairs over it. A fact supported by the motor speed of both, which is phenomenal. I wish you had is the wider concentrating nozzle available with Gamma, which I use with hair your length. That would cut your drying time in half. I agree that Dyson has better cosmetic finish. The model shown in your video is already superseded by quieter and better version. And lastly, although seemingly louder, gamma has higher pitch and funny enough you can hear your client much better while drying hair as human voice is generally in the middle to low pitch range. Gamma should change the shroud covering filter into a one piece cage rather that the three piece convoluted contraption and yes, the nozzles attachments should also be perfected. Overall, personally, I consider the gamma a clear winner for a professional setting.
The Dyson had the advantage on drying time as the environment was being affected by the drying of the first side, plus the likelihood that some of the air hit the second side while drying the first. The motor in the Dyson is at in the handle, so the size of the head is neither here nor there. The Dyson isn’t particularly powerful, I’ve used it as a pro hairdresser. As I understand it, I’ve not tried the Gama as yet, but it’s supposed to be more powerful in airflow. The heat in the Dyson is also below the general pro hairdryer. It’s digitally controlled and designed to be cooler - which tells me (again) that a good amount of the work for side two was already done by the Gama.
What nail polish is that! Gorgeous!!!
I liked your hair after using the Gamma more then the Dyson.
Love your reviews!!!❤️❤️ I agree with you Dyson is the Apple for hair...
Oooo nice way to put it
No wonder I prefer Gamma 😅
Been using the Dyson for a month now, I can't get used to No barrel. My Gamma should be here this week! We'll see how long these things last behind the chair. I'm a big fan of the Chi touch screen,"Work-Hourse" 20-36months of life behind the chair, and it's a great workout. It's heavy. But I do love the low velocity w/ the Chi. Something the Dyson Lacks. Great video thanks!
Can you review the shark vs. the dyson hair dryers.
I would pick the Dyson just due to the noise differences
I saw this foundation in Instagram and its called Hide. Can you do a review please
I have the Dyson with Air Wrap so haven't tried either of the models you demo'd today. I prefer Dyson in general because they stand behind their products. The other hair dryer seems like it started out well and when it came to the attachments or switches they just used anything to get it out to market. Did the reviews you read say how customer service managed the issues the stylists were having?
i luv my Dyson dryer , one of the best ,
You can get an app for measuring decibels if you’re interested in volume
Can you do a Hair Care Routine video? ❤
There are a ton of apps that measure decibels (you said the Gama is twice as loud as the Dyson), and there has to be a simple way to measure the airspeed (which one holds the longest string up on high speed?). Also an actual weight that includes some of the power cord would be nice. What warranty comes with each dryer? What is the girth of each handle? A balance of facts with this subjective review would be even more helpful.
Have you reviewed the Shark dryer yet?
Your hair is getting so long! 😍
Hair dresser here .Gamma the best ever!
It,s healthy, a good dryer!!
I love Gama, it's the top!
I have both Dison is good but my hair still frizz With IQ Gama is smooth sleek Has emission of active oxygen with anti-bacterial, for better colour fixation and lock.
Which one is more durable?
I have both dryer’s and I prefer to work with IQ it’s 30% faster than Dyson. It’s made for professionals like me.
Omg you look so much like arizona from grey’s anatomy ❤️
Funny, I see the Dyson leaving your hair a little frizzy on top, whereas on the Gamma side, it’s smooth.
Agreed. Her gamma side is sleek!
Dyson comes with a flyaway attachment where you can fix any flyaways easily
What's funny is it should be about results more than saving 60 secs . Totally biased review
I’m a professional and i use the Gamma every day, i love it and believe it’s way better than the dyson. Gamma is actually a professional brand so that’s probably why regular consumers don’t like it.
The professional brand you’re referring to is Gamma+; this new brand “Gama Italy” is not the same thing.
Con pelo liso y poco todo funciona. Pero prueba con un pelo rulo abundante para ver si funciona
Also the dyson side is more shiny, it's really clear in the video! Thanks 😊
Dyson the best, just purchased on very recent. Tired of different brand. Dyson does dry hair so fast.
Anyone else think that the Dyson side looks a bit shinier than the Gama?
I think the gamma is a higher pitch not Louder
Nice
My stylist uses both the Dyson and Gamma but the $450 Dyson failed after a year. But I preferred using the Dyson.
Idk that it’s fair to compare times since your right side had more time to air dry before you used the dyson on it..
I don’t know... spending over $60 for a hair dryer for home use is bonkers to me. My real game changer was when I STOPPED using fabric softener when washing my towels. That’s the true game changer. DON’T USE FABRIC SOFTENER WHEN WASHING YOUR TOWELS LADIES!!
Which did you find louder?
Hey Mila, you should try to attatch the nozzles vertically, that way you don't have to lift the dryers as high as you're doing. They're lighter than most so not as bad on the arms, but hey, anything that'll make it easier to use is worth a try :)
Amiga ayúdame con los subtítulos en español mi secador es súper pesado e incómodo pero esa tecnología no la he visto en mi pueblo en Colombia.
Yo no se del Gama pero el Dyson es una pasada ! Es bastante caro pero vale la pena.
Good review other than the time taken to dry comparison. The complete opposite of the definition of a fair test 😂
Licensed Plumber here.I agree with the hair dresser below. 🤗
Looking at both sides of her hair.... the shine clearly wins by the monster DYSON. The Gama side did not get as SHINY..... DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LOOK OF EITHER; HOWEVER, I am looking to get healthier hair; Shiny, less frizz, and less breakage.
Don't worry about nitpicking. We watch this comparisons for nitpicking ☺️
I prefer rusk w8less
do some kvd makeup and possibly some tik tok make up hacks..lol should be fun..
