The role of Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders is incredibly demanding. In this video we dive into the subtlety of Cillian Murphy's portrayal, how he uses it to his advantage, and parallels from other famous roles.
Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor. He's magnificent in Peaky Blinders! 👏👏😍
1:21 (says in a quiet voice) "I actually thought he was pretty good". Anyway, on the main topic of the video, I completely agree. Murphy's subtleties in his performance has also somewhat reminded me of Pacino's performance in Godfather 2. Yes, he can be terrifyingly angry but most of the time he's cool and collected, which makes those outbursts more sudden, surprising, and significant for the character. In my opinion, the best actors are the ones who are able to communicate with their eyes. Murphy's performance in Peaky Blinders is perhaps the newest example of that talent.
Thank you for this! Cillian Murphy is a legend in my book
One of my most favourite characters ever
Watched it 6 months ago and I'm watching it again for the second time Will probably watch it once a year from now on Just all around BRILLIANT!!!
"I'm a blinder, I'll take your f*cking eyes first!!"
The LEAST Cillian deserved was a Golden Globe for Peaky Blinders!!!! He played the role MAGNIFICENTLY 👏🏻 💞🙏🏻 But that's America for you. Smh
Heck, even in season 6 (which was imo the weakest and most underwhelming season) Murphy's performance was what held things together.
Nice video sir
