How powerful does your gaming PC need to be?!

Well Doc here is the beauty of this whole thing. Your PC only has to be as powerful as you want or can afford for it to be. As long as it's within your budget and your happy with it your winning.

My gaming PC is an Xbox Series S, it's good enough for me. I've been down the gaming PC road before and having a naturally addictive personality, I was always chasing my tail.

I'm still rocking a gtx 1080 and still can play games coming out today at 1080p 60fps medium setting across the board

Hey Doc, Ive been following you on and off for a few years, glad to see your on the gaming PC ecosystem now! Im definitely part of that high end crowd.. I build a new PC at tax time every 2 - 3 years. Last year when I got my return in April 2023 I went to my local Microcenter and dropped over 3 grand on my current PC, with a Core I7 13700k cpu, 32gb Corsair Dominator DDR5 ram, a Gigabyte RTX 4080 OC. Lian Li aio liquid cooler, asus tuf motherboard, etc. I dropped the money because I play VR games and I wanted a powerhouse PC that can handle my Valve Index. And I mostly play non VR games at 1440p on my 65" Samsung RU8000 tv with 120hz refresh. Its nice to be able to play most games at 120+ fps with raytracing and all the features turned on to max, especially Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing enabled and all the photoreal graphics mods for it, its truly a next gen experience!

I miss 30 fps sometimes, I remember playing on my ps3 on 30 fps jus barely

Red dead 2 runs at 4k 30 with the xbox one x enhancement. Hasn't been optimized for the series x. Glad you get to run it at 60 however do you think your budget pc will run hell blade 2 at 60 fps when 4090's and I9's are having trouble holding 60fps on demanding unreal engine 5 games?

Doc what is your steam? Got a few games I’d like you to try out. Not necessarily for performance but just in general.

Hellblade will be able to play 1080p@60fps on your rig... Though you might have to do some tweaking to get there. Unreal engine's lumen is kind of demanding, afterall

Sold my Series X, kept a Series S and built my first pc in nearly 15 years. Couldn't resist going for a build with a 4080 super...needed all the bells and whistles. There's nothing like having options.

I have a ryzen 7 7700x, 32ram, and a rx 7900 xtx hellhound. I also own 2 switchs, 3 series x, a series s, and a ps5 so im good all around

Even tho I don’t ever see myself booting up Windows 11 to play video games, I’m still checking out the channel Doc. 💯

I will run high smoothness over high definition all day. Games like rocket league and cod usually are the lowest fidelity for highest frames. Frames win games. Alternatively, adventure games benefit to the amount of detail available to remder on pc. In the end i perfer the ability to fine tune my experience more on pc. I sold my xbox series x mostly to its limitations by comparisson.

your pc should do 1440p ultra settings... and 4k with fsr on

I play dragons dogma above 30 fps on a 4070, I get about 55 frames on average

My dude Marlongamingnation built a pc on stream tonight. He basically built a rig similiar to mine. 4080s with a 7800x3d. Its like building a PS6

1080p $1000, 1440p $2000, 4k $3500, excluding all periperals(monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.)

I pay d 800$ for a MSI raider76 i7 3060 17in 1tbssd a year ago. I only use it for games that A) don’t play on my steam deck B) Doesn’t have cloud saves.

Wait till he realizes how little difference there is between high and ultra settings. All of a sudden playability increases 10 fold. Especially at 1080p

Doc u are gonna play games under 1080p? Lets say 720p upscale. On my lg c1 that will look terrible bro. I guess if you play on a small screen yes. For me i need 1440p minimun. You ar NOT GONNA RUN HELLBLADE 2 unless its on low settings. However i agree with you pc is good. But xbox is a console u cant just trash.

My pc is good enough to power through anything at 1440p high to ultra settings. You are right that these new games aren't it. I'm playing Shadow of War and the Witcher 2 at the moment. I guess my pc is overkill at the moment.😂

Powerful enough to last beyond a typical generation of console cycle. So if console typically last 8 years, your pc needs to last 10 years. It also needs to be 1.5 to 2 times more powerful then a console. Lastly, its also subjective to how you want your PC to be.

Wait!.. So Doc you’re telling us that you love the Xbox platform sooo much. Even though they lied to you about the SeriesX power! Which made you buy a $1k PC. To still play Xbox games.. at lower settings than PlayStation games. Did I get that right!? 😂😂

I’m a x box user but I had to jump up to pc…started with a 4070 it was balling but I upgraded to a 4090 but you don’t need all that power to be real my girl kept the 4070 at 1440p it goes crazy and it isn’t that much like that people can get an AMD and pay less for real

True PC looks more gorgeous than console at 1080p it's crazy how much more detail you can see. You should try gta 5 too. I'll try red dead I bet it looks great.

You probably want a 6600 at least it's ~$200 and a 3600 CPU ~$85. You might be able to squeeze an entire build under $500 by now. You start losing a lot of price to performance or can't find new anymore if you go lower.

I use a 2:10 mini pc with a rizen 7 processor. 32gb ram The little guy goes fast.

Doesn't need to be extreme. But if you aren't on a budget just build something you wan't. 7800X3D for CPU no brainer for me. Also the second best AMD card in the 7900XT. Not the best but it sure does all i wan't it to do. Also knowing that I should out last even the next gen consoles. Yeah im good.

Ultimately, at least until FSR becomes a legitimate alternative, anyone buying or building a pc should get an Nvidia GPU to take advantage of DLSS. It really is a game changer.

Once everybody recognize you can use air GPU and shadow they’re going to realize how dumb it was to spend over anything over $500 for a PC gaming lol on shadow for 34.99 you can literally play on all these big time rigs lol

A budget gaming pc blows away the consoles. Since most of the games we want to play are on console, there's really no need to drop 2k on a GPU.

How can someone tell you about a PC when they brought one. You have no idea how powerful one needs to be when you go to Walmart and purchase one?

All this 4090 bragging they about to offer the 40 series for 20 bucks a month you can stream that it’s a waste of money to spend over $500 on a gaming PC so I’m torn on this topic

depend what games you play, theres people that probably havent upgarded for 10 years cos they only play csgo

not that powerful my is a ryzen 5 5600 and a rx 6600 gpu and 16gb ram i since i am a dual pc setup ican max out on my games too doc my streaming pc uses a ryzen 5 3600 and a gtx 1080ti witch i soon upgrade ro a 20 or 30 series mostly 40 series or 5000 series but if i do this i swap out cpus from my 1080ti too my rx 6600 gpu for my streaming my gaming will be the rtx 5000 series gou .

OMG please go back to console we don't need or want this over here. Plus anyone that knows anything about PCs knows you are always going to have a bottle neck. It's impossible not to have one. Something in your system is always going to slow something else down, that's just the way it is. All you can do is just mimimize it the best you can. Anyone trying to tell you any different doesn't know what they are talking about. Ever peice of tech you own has a bottleneck in it. MY PC is bottlenecking my games 😂that's a new one for sure.

7600 Is going to run HB2 easily at 1080P 60. Now higher resolution maybe not........Kick on Frame gen like FSR3. Or Fluid motion frames it might hit 60 on 1440p. Even with a small amount of raytracing turned on. It's also a 3rd person game so im holding out hope it's going to be amazing even if it dips a little here and there.
