My Updated Graphics Settings for MSFS - Is Frame Gen The Holy Grail?
After upgrading my setup during the early part of 2024, today I’m sharing my graphics settings that I’ve settled on that give me a great 4K 60fps experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator. We look at DLSS Frame Generation and assess whether it’s a technology worth using in the sim, as well as looking at different terrain level of detail settings, and which other settings in the sim may need tuning to give a reliable 60fps experience.

Same upgrade I made ! Was running a 2060 super. With the new set up I find myself only using flight sim now. Will try these settings Thanks !
This style of video is brilliant mate, so clear and informative. I upgraded to a 7950x3D but still run a 3090 and the game runs 'fine'. Need to save up for either a 40 series super or wait for a 50 series.. Thank you for this and keep doing things like it, your community will love it!
Great video - thanks. Awesome to see your channel going from strength to strength.
Thanks so much! Just keeping on putting one foot in front of the other 🙂
Thank you and great video as always, have to give credit for the beautifully done cinematic shots and the great editing, it dosnt go unseen!
Thank you!
Awesome 👏🏻 Incredible video! Thumbnail is great aswell
Thanks! Glad you like it 🙂
@@AirNOTT I run it on a Series X and the display is my 86" 4K UHD TV and it looks amazing!!!! The immersion factor is off the charts.
Awesome sir !
Speaking of graphics settings, I decided to just have a mess with myne on a 4070ti super and a 7800x3d and I noticed the low settings just make the sim look like prepar3d lol they give you a smooth 60 no frame gen though lol🤣 awesome video I’m just doing testing myself for my own system.
Hi! Thanks for this nice video!! Which setting did you change on the NVIDIA Control Panel?
Maximum frame rate, and set it to 60, for the sim only
Amazing Video. Question for you, with the new maxed out settings do you run any 3rd party apps along side (apart from PMDG737) and do they also impact or hit the FPS. e.g FS2CREW, AI Traffic etc
I usually fly on VatSim so traffic really depends on what’s around at the time. I use FSLTL for model matching. I use simtoolkit pro as well
ayyy big fan!
Firm handshakes 🫡
Just to correct something, DLSS Framegen can run on 30 series cards as well.
With a mod?
FWIW AMD users with 7000 series (I think?) GPUs have access to AMD's Fluid Motion Frames (FMF). It's not quite as good as Nvidia's Frame Gen, but I've been using it for a few months and if you can get a native 45-60fps, you can have a VERY smooth experience with 90-120fps displayed. Just need to enable it in the AMD Adrenaline Software.
Thanks for sharing this 👍
I can’t get FMF to work in MSFS for me, it just shows that it’s not compatible with the game’s display mode. Not sure what I’m missing.
@@adammPG AMD's FMF requires the sim to be in fullscreen (not borderless windowed either) on DX11 or DX12 with VSYNC *disabled*. Also worth noting that the in-game and Steam overlays do not display the generated frames in their FPS counters as well, much like AirNOTT demonstrated in his video here.
TLOD 400 at 35fps is really amazing
Great as usual but how can you get via MSI the actual frame gen FPS vs the sim FPS showing? Thanks
MSI afterburner shows the total fps by default. That’s the sims frames and nvidias frames combined. The sims built in frame counter (that was in the top right) can be enabled via the developer mode toolbar. You’ll need to enable developer mode in the settings to see it
When i turn accelerated graphics on my computer and try to run frame gen, my performance drops and everything spikes in red. Not sure what the issue is there, running i7, RTX 4060 and 32GB. otherwise I'm DLSS/DLAA TLOD 250 at around 45-60 FPS with FPS counter on dev mode.
Are you using auto FPS as well? What settings?
Not for this, no.
I'm struggling to find reliable info about framegen in VR... I only fly VR and as far as I understand, framegen for vr is called motion reprojection and the mod won't work...
Hello! How did you fix flickering with frame gen mod?
This is actual frame gen, not the mod
Awesome 👍🙏🏻👊❤️✈️👨✈️
Cheers, Lee!
What is your traffic settings?
I use VatSim so it really depends who’s online at a given moment. Hard to replicate for testing purposes
A PC is not required to run MSFS 2020. The Series X does a fantastic job as many real airline pilots will attest to. In fact, you will get more stutter running on the highest end PC than a Series X.
Yeah, no
@@Cessna172SNavIII Yeah YES!
Yeah, no. Consoles have their pros and cons but ultimately PC is far superior for running this game. Far more compatible peripherals, a lot more 3rd party development is PC based with plenty of free and paid aircrafts and scenery. PC receives updates a lot sooner, for example the tablet in the PMDG 737 only recently got pushed to consoles. Vatsim is PC. Consoles still allow you to have fun and enjoy a beautiful game as a cheaper alternative and that's perfect for some.
@@Kilerox Kick rocks mate!
Delusional 😂
