*Asgard* : Has plasma turrets, energy shields and weaponized flying ships *Also Asgard* : Equips their soldiers with swords and spears
What's wrong with the art of close quarters combat.... but they could of used a bowman with some spearman in the front with shields
I would to point out that those sword are maybe of asgardian nanotech, that is why they glow when they swing them, plus the shield are deflectors. Those 2 things with the asgardians natural superhuman strenght gives little reason for firearms. Plus norse culture 🤷🏽♂️
Asgardian nanotech lol And i dont think every asguardian has super strength..only the royal blood
@@atShourya I was wrong its not nanotech
@@atShourya The Asgardians also maintain regular melee weapons, such as swords, spears, and shields. Their weapons, however, are made of a highly advanced form of technology. They appear normal when still, but when moving quickly (i.e. sword slashing in battle) the blade glows with a bluish-white aura of energy which greatly increases the power of the weapon (very often while the individual handles the weapon you can hear a strange vibration, indicating that the blade can turn blue at any time), leaving handheld weapons obsolete: be they lightning, bullets or arrows.
The Asgardian forgot to upgrade their defend system for 5000 years...
So true.

That moment when you realize that Tony Stark in a suit can defend a city better than Asgard's entire army.
Because he is Tony Stark😂❤

No he can't. Dark elves can't be seen by normal people, not even Asgardians. Or else Heimdall would have blasted them Mid space
@@cringekiller348 woosh
asgard defences are bad in this scene but this is just a bad take
“Asgard is a people” yet the shield protects only the citadel and not the people below.
If an enemy breaches the citadel and grts the vault asgard will be no more
That's where all father Odin is so he needs the extra shield for protection when he sleeps.
Notice how protected the President and other leaders are? Notice how people go for the leaders? There's a reason for that.
Because it's the place where the people shelter and fort .. citadel is for the people and the king itself are the shield .
it kinda like way castle and federal system works only with space aliens. back day the village get burnt to ground but kind and knights protect the people 4 wall off fortresses.

Heimdall - oh
Everyone: complaining about shitty Asgard defense. Me: wonders how shitty a dark elf ship must be build to explode from a few knife stabs.
The knife was special.didn't you see them destroying other things by slamming into them.
Maybe the knife was blessed by the gods or somethin

@@GinIchigo So how tf did it take him HEARING the ship to notice it? Also, isn't it funny how the Dark Elves decide to camp RIGHT BESIDE Heimdall? They could have began their attack and no one would notice.

Not just that, it's because they come from an ancient race of darkness that pre-dates this universe (of light) they came from a universe of darkness before this universe was created, and they are the remaining creatures, of that dark universe, so his race is superior than the Asgardian race...

I wish Heimdall had a lot more scenes in the Thor movies. Idris Elba is one of my favourite actors.

@Jake if jesus is portrayed as a Caucasian man and white People playing Egyptians then black people too have every right to in any movie be it Nordic a b c d culture.
Jake this Nordic culture is superheroes?!? Played by Americans?!?!? Lol
@Jake Thor movies are not movies about Nordic culture. These are fantasy superhero movies created by an American comic book writer that are very loosely inspired by real myths and legends. There are lasers and spaceships in this very scene...which should make it plainly clear. Besides, real life historical films that aren't even fictional films commonly have light skinned Caucasian actors playing the role darker skinned people. Jesus is often portrayed as a brown haired, blue eyed European even though he was historically a brown skinned Middle Eastern Jew. Having European/light skinned Caucasian actors play East Asians is also a thing - John Wayne played Genghis Khan in film and Hollywood often had Caucasian actors dress up in yellow face to portray Chinese and Japanese people.
He always gets shitty roles, Heimdall is one of my favorites
Why is everything on Asgard perfectly shaped for these ships to fly through
“Damn it! I told you we needed a shield for the shield!” - Unknown under appreciated, seldom listened to Asgardian engineer
I hate that Asgard is so useless in the MCU. The guards are useless. The soldiers are useless. Even their defenses and technology is useless. It felt like odin was the only one keeping Asgard strong. I mean as the dominant realm in the universe you'd expect everything in Asgard is extremely superior to other realms. Also in the MCU I think the only reason asgardian God's are considered "gods" is because they live in the dominant realm in the universe and they have powers. Like literally odin thor and heimdall are the only useful asgardian in the MCU.
Because Thor is the hyper ultra superstar here.. He's the only one who can save everyone's wimpy useless ass.. Everyone else is just useless.. And that's why I don't want Marvel movies anymore. Especially what they did with Odin. 😡
You have a point at least in DC movies Characters like Superman, Zod, Faora and the Kryptonian race itself have truly god like powers and to add to that their technology such as the phantom drive, world engine, scout ship and other weapons are truly impressive.
J Chea look buddy they need to balance everyone equally when it comes to movie from a mythology In norse mythology asgard is way more stronger than this shit Odin way way way OPier Thor is basically zues
Asgard is not the strongest realm in the universe. They are the strongest only among the 9 realms of Yggdrasil.

I always find it interesting to see the scale of ships in movies, animations and games. With the dark elf fighter things against the whole city itself makes them look smaller than they are. Once one of them successfully crashes into the castle itself is it revealed how big the things really are.
Well yes and no. They fucked up scale, as you can clearly see Heimdall is no giant.
So, ONE guy was able to destroy one of the ships with 2 short swords, but the entirety of Asgards turret, shield, and army defences werent able to prevent one of the UNARMED ships from penetrating the palace? Sounds legit.
because it was a named character who did it vs the Asgard equivalent of stormtroopers/red shirts
To add on to it, the ships missiles were very effective against the ships yet they only used it once. Had the ships utilized the missiles more the elves ships wouldn't have gotten far
@@m4x927 Asgard probably don't have a lot of home defense because they don't think they can ever be invaded

Bridge Gaurdians hold the power to protect those gates against various forms of threats, they are keepers of knowledge, and that knowledge is well defended.
Regardless of what people think, I really did enjoy this movie. Besides, I don't have any problem with the elves succeding in this one, since the defenses of Asgard didn't consider their flying and fighting rechniques when updating their defenses, and we can later see that Malekith's ship had actually been flying above Asgard the whole time, so it makes sense they had the time and the odds in their favor.
The mental gymnastics needed to justify an advanced civilization having shit poor defense systems against aircraft probably took more effort than the directors gave in the production of this shiet...
The Asgardian defenses were mostly for aesthetic purposes, the Dark Elves on the other hand were ready for war, and importantly, the Asgardians were caught of guard right at their doorsteps. It's the equivalent of a battle hardened spec-ops invasion force suddenly appearing in the heart of London, only having the police and the British Queen's Guard standing against them. Sure they're well trained and all, but they wouldn't stand much of a chance.
Asgard is supposed to be this hyper advanced intergalactic civilization, yet looks and acts as advanced as a poor mediaeval kingdom. They messed up with Asgard.
So Asgardians have airships armed with plasma gatlinguns and missiles yet their infantry only used melee weapons while the Dark Elves have ships with cloaking technology but no weapons relying only on ramming to damage the enemy yet their infantry is completely ranged. They are basically the opposite of the Asgardians in every way, but unfortunately they make much less sense than the Asgardians.
The soldiers r incredibly powerful
@@deathifight7408 They got destroyed by the dark elves right after this scene
super advanced asgardians are dumb as fuck lol this type of attack would never work on earth vs humans we have been fighting eachother for so long the second some ships are on radar every air defense system in the world is up and every jet from land and carriers are after it. the asgard have zero early warning systems or real air defense manned turrets is pathetic, if they had modern cwis aaa guns those ships would be toast they are guided by a limited ai and those guns don't fucking miss, and they shoot down stuff flying 4x faster than those ships

It's convenient how none of the many pillars destroyed in the throne room were not structurally important to the building so the roof didn't collapse in.
Maybe the pillars are more so for artistic value, not structural integrity.
Też what about 9/11 pancake theory
Obviously, modern architecture doesn’t need a million pillars to support a great hall, and this is Asgard which has floating buildings. Most of those pillars if not all were merely to fill the empty space
the pillars are to stop the throne room from looking like a docking bay...
Say what you will about this scene and Asgard’s defense but Hiemdall raising the shield is one of the most underrated scenes in the MCU for me…
It would’ve been sick if the shield wasn’t brought down like 5 secs later lol
Ahh, Asgardians. The disposable Clone Troopers of the MCU.
Clone troopers are high quality fodder though. I would've used stormtroopers, battle droids or halo grunts for that comparaison

Good thing those columns were decorative.
Heimdall was so awesome in the first Thor and in Thor 2. He seemed so underpowered in Ragnarok... and well, he ded in IW.
Andrie I get your point but in my opinion that wasn’t because he got weaker but because the enemies were stronger: Hela and Thanos. Actually in IW the best way they had to prove Thanos power was by defeating maybe the 3 strongest characters in MCU, Thor, Heimdall and The Hulk. The first minute in IW when I saw Heimdall laying in the floor my reaction was “no way!”
And how didn’t Heimdall know of thanos and know to keep their ship away from thanos at all costs

The AA defense and the space ship shooting sound is so satisfying
The moment when you realized that Storm Troopers has better aim than the Asgardian.
Lol what is this bullshit? This comment section is full of bullshit sarcastic comments. The ship are fast moving and actively dodge bullet plus controlling gun turret isn’t as easy as normal gun and on top of that they did hit a lot and the dark elf ship even dodge homing missile so it not asgardian bad at shooting targets but it the dark elf too good at dodging bullet.
I love this channel .
Something I never noticed before, you can see where the bridge was repaired after Thor demolished it in the first movie. A lot of intricate detail went into rendering that effect, and it's only seen for a second or two. I respect the shit out of that kind of attention to detail.
0:19 yeah so instead of doing that, maybe get on the radio and alert the air defenses?
I never realised in the movie, could he have started with the shield instead of chasing one plane?

I like how at 2:26 -- a dark elf ship flies downward instead of level so it can purposely hit the force field just forming. That elf pilot must be drunk.
I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile

Flying upward past the shield and into a wall wouldn't've been much better
0:50 I never actually noticed before; Heimdall has Sith eyes.
wish there were more action scenes of Heimdall...dude is legit powerful...you dont get to be the guardian of Asgard and protectof of the bifrost without being powerful
I DON'T KNOW WHY EVERYBODY HATES THIS MOVIE.
Asgard needs some SAMs
Benjamin Ong yea I don't think ww1 style AA canons is defense appropriate for advanced beings that live for 1000's of years on futuristic floating mystical plane hell even wakandas dome shield is more hi tech
And the mortal wakandans were able to detect the invasion as soon as they entered the atmosphere (probably even sooner than shield detected it)
and yet a bunch of Outriders where able to bypass the shield by rubbing up against it.
This is because Asgardian is not relying on tech which is silly considering how advanced their civilization really is they just dumb
+Benjamin Ong. that and proximity fused shells for those AA guns.
0:59 why does this look like thanos mother ship anyone feel me
The mother ship and the malkeith ship has NOTHING common
Probably reminds us of thanos and his mothership because of the unusual shapes of both ships
For being the 'protector of the nine realms' Asgard sure had its ass handed to it.
No one: Asgards shield, made to defend a City: isn't even safe against a guy who slaps the generator
Might be it bc the guy is as strong or even stronger than hulk? And also in most movie shields generators are weaker than the actual shields and will easy be destroyed by any strong force.
People are forgetting if this wasn’t the Dark Elves heimdall would have seen the coming a couple hundred AUs away and could have weaponized the Bifrost with no issue. Also even if an enemy gets that close and catches you that off guard the only reason the shield went down was because of Kurse; a near hulk or possibly stronger level of entity.
Kurse is stronger than Thor Hulk is a weakling Compared To kurse
the dark elve fighter ships are like flying blades. love that desighn
After years of suggesting this video to me, youtube algorithm today successfully have me click on it
Its a really great movie and cgi 🔥❤️
I can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years since this came out….. 😭
Seriously it took 1 Man and a dagger and a swords to take down one teletubby looking elf ship and 4 asguardians to kill the kurse but 3 asguardian ships and several turrets couldn't get like one ship and like 13 asguardians couldn't kill one kurse :/ C'mon Odin! Did your soldiers get weaker after king Bor passed away???
Maybe that why they use sword? Bc god weapons stronger than any range energy weapons? Also the dark elf actively dodge bullet, they are actually super skilled at it, even dodge homing missile which saying a lot about their power level.
Asgard in the MCU is portrayed like a weak civilization, while in reality Asgard was a really powerful realm.
there is no reality
@@matthewlo55 Lol
The dark elves were defeated without the Ether, something they do not have during this assault. You could argue that it's a surprise attack, but Heimdall can see pretty much everything in existence, he would notice an army of a race he has never seen before
One of the few good and construct scenes in the movie. It clearly showcases the arrogance of Asgard and their technology after thousands of years of peace.
Imagine you're invading a city and a guy with a sword destroys your ship, like what's that ship made of?!
Im a God, and can make up anything my imagination can muster to defend my city. Turrents will do.

Heimdall was like: "Y'all hear somethin''?"
I love how the ship design is so bad, that a few stabs from a guy could blow up the whole thing
I mean Cap could do the same with just a shield to Earth aircrafts. It's not primarly because of the ship's design, it's because of the cleverness of the attacker.
@B Ball I didn't know Vibranium is upgraded Adamantium. From what I heard, it's the opposite actually. Did those Asgardians ships or plasma explosives hit the DElves' ship's engine thingey like Heindall did? Again, it's all primarily about the individual's cleverness.
