"I wonder how Seal thought of this? Oh well, I'll just call him..." -Rick Beato's life 2024
I thought the same .... Reminded me when i can my mom and she answers w her morning face , but Rick calls and its Seal in the other side of the phone lol
Actually, this isn't the first time he's called Seal. I think he did this a few years ago, too. lol So, this was also 2020 Rick Beato's life.
Quality answer… ‘I didn’t know I couldn’t’. 😂
They did not know it was impossible, so they did it. ‒ Mark Twain 😉
'Officer, I didn't know I couldn't do that"
@@CompleteProducer84 Close your butt cheeks Dave !!!
"genius of the novice"
He's coming from a standpoint of feel rather than theory.
“I didn’t know you couldn’t do those things” That's a real composer!!
I love the fact that he refuses to give a definite answer in the lyrics and meaning so that each person can make it their own.
"I didn't know that was unusual.." Follow your gut hell yeah
Love that answer, "it is the right thing to do", speaking from the soul for every artist.
Many problems have been solved by people who were never told that the problem was unsolvable. "I didn't know I couldn't" is a perfect example of this from a musical perspective.
I randomly met Seal hiking in LA on the trail. He was the most friendly, awesome guy.
His response is just so damn authentic. You could see that it is coming straight from his heart. I am so impressed by its depth and authenticity.
@infinitysconcinnity2418 ^*his depth, not its🤷♂️
@@spanqueluv9er I actually meant the response on its own. I was not even referring to Seal. I was simply referring to THAT SPECIFIC response. That’s why I used ‘its depth’ rather than ‘his depth’. I wrote that quite intentionally. (Although in the first sentence, I did use the word ‘his’, FWIW).
agreed
@@spanqueluv9er Wrong!
Such a classy gentleman
Heidi might shed a different light on your opinion
I bet everyone in the audience died in their sleep while watching him perform.
@@flexeos this story is utter bullsh1t. There’s always one on every one of these posts 😂
Seal has such an amazing voice. What a genuine well spoken guy.
Accidently writing a song while getting to know your new 'device' is what happend to Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics as well: it resulted in the musical hook of 'Sweet dreams'. Annie Lennox spontaneously came up with the singing melody and the words while hearing it for the first time.
Annie Lennox also came up with the second half of the synth riff, which is actually two synth lines layered together.
I can appreciate how you let Seal get the last word here.
Cool to see Seal on your channel. He's written 3 of my all time favorite songs; Kiss From a Rose, Prayer for the Dying, and Love's Divine. He's one of those artists like Sade who blurs the lines between Soul, Jazz, and Pop. Phenomenal voice, interesting lyrics, engaging beats, rhythms, and melodies. One of my favorite artists for sure!
Me too....lucky to have seen him in person a few times.
Oh damn, Seal’s closing comments choked me up a bit. Showing respect to Rick and what he’s bringing and illuminating to people about music and songwriting, especially young people.
Seal speaks truth. It’s the song above all else. Sadly today’s popular music has completely forgotten the meaning of “the song.”
"The whole thing happened really quickly ... an afternoon's work of about two or three hours, and I wasn't really thinking about the melody at all." This theme of 'working fast' and 'not thinking' (in other words, Wu Wei) happens so often in the creative process of great music that it's fascinating how little people talk about its continual recurrence.
Timeless song, beautiful piece of work. Thank you Seal! Rick Beato is music teacher to the world
A) it's the instinct & talent, NOT the theory or complicated methods & high flying chord names B) thank you, Tascam. 🌹🎶👌🏼💯
That was a lovely 5 minutes with Seal. Thank you!
Seal is absolutely amazing. Great songwriter, amazing performer, eloquent speaker and he always has that "distinguished" air about him. A proper gentleman, if you will.
Seal also has Trevor Horn in his corner, which is a huge help in realizing "songs".
😮
“I felt like it was the right thing to do”, this sums up the definition of “inspiration”. (Just discovered ur 2nd channel through this, thx.)
To Me , the entire album is magnificent . I`m 66 years old and it`s been in my top 20 since I first listened to it 30 years ago. I don`t have the words to express how much this album , has and still means to me . I want to thank Seal for all the heart and soul he poured into the recording . It simply heal`s .
“It’s the song.” This was 5 minutes of quality viewing and has added value to my life. Thank you. I just subscribed 👍.
Like most says, Seal's answers are top class - a true gentleman.
Just the best song ever
I met Seal back in the late 90s when i worked at a hotel in London and he used to come stay there often.. he was an awesome guy, quiet and very respectful .. fond memories... :)
Thank you, dear Seal, for bringing such beauty into the world. God bless you.
I always found this song super hypnotic. I think I didn't hear it before it rolled (in the credits?) in Batman Forever. Loved that whole soundtrack.
Such a great song. Recorded it over and over on a cassette tape just so I could listen to it several times without rewinding...
My father did that with This Old House by Shakin' Stevens. I hated that tape.
Wonderful work Rick, yourself and the Fil from the Wings of Pegasus channel are so necessary for folks to learn about this industry. Keep shining your light, it is a rare thing of beauty!
“Why’d you make Ba ba ba da ba?” The hard hitting questions
This makes me so happy! I love Kiss from a Rose, and to hear that Seal sung it into his new Tascam cause he didn't play an instrument is so relatable... and look at what he created from these humble beginnings. So inspiring.
Loved his performance at Freddie's tribute concert. He really gave it his all.
Amazing how such a beautiful song can come from out of nowhere. Every time I hear that song, I get the chills it's so powerful.
Please interview Andy Partridge and/or Colin Moulding from XTC.
I agree. Would me amazing.
Yes, please!
Yes!
99.99% of Rick's audience would have no idea who they were. Besides, Andy's well known for avoiding all interviews/publicity...
@@derekchapman5167 This is true. Just nice to dream.
The grasp of hamony on display during the bridge from this song still breaks my goddamn mind.
His explanation of the lyrics is an explanation of art.
Great rick. Scott from Scotland I was listening to kiss from a rose today in bbc radio 2 driving back from the farm … and it knocked me again. I remember hearing it when it came out and been a fav since sing since. Just stunning how a simple chord structure. Just turns into amazing song Seal is true talent. So simple so complex …so beautiful
If you want to be unique then you have to be unusual. Being unusual is what produced this great song!
One of the best songs ever. ❤
Beautiful song. Was the opening dance to our wedding 22 years ago. ❤
I was today years old when I discovered that Seal wrote this song as well as sang it. Awesome. ❤
I love this man so much. "Show Me" was my jam for a long time. Still hits hard to this day.
A Tascam 244 ... takes me way back. Kids today have no idea how hard it was to do all this before laptops.
"Kiss from a Rose" sounds familiar to anyone who sang in madrigals in HS or college. Lovely song.
This song just popped into my head the other day and would not leave. This is so on time. A Kiss From a Rose is one of the most beautiful songs to ever happen!❤❤❤
So interesting that he wasn't concentrating on writing a song, he was concentrating on how to operate his new Tascam multitrack cassette recorder. He needed to practice bouncing so he had to come up with a bunch of vocal parts to bounce, since he was alnoe and he didn't play an instrument. Fascinating! I'd buy *another* machine to figure out if I was him!! lol
"I didn't know you can't do it". Check and mate, Rick! 😁
the melody line on kfar is the definition of unreal!
At all cost has to be upheld got me. Man thank you for this Mr. Beato and Mr. Seal!
I was trying to do what an orchestra would do....proceeds to hum one of the most iconic songs from the 90s.
It’s definitely a beautiful song, I remember at 18 year old my first job in construction doing a remodel on a store in the mall a women’s clothing store and one half was still open and they had this mixed cd of music that they were told to play in repeat all day every day and kiss from a rose 🌹 was on the playlist and it would play like 20 times a day while we worked and we would crack up laughing, but looking back it really made memories and I realized it is a incredible composition and I love it alot
Amazing song
I have always really loved this song and to be honest Seal has other great songs too. But I also love that he enjoys people's different ideas of it. It shows that he proud of it and how it has touched so many people.
I love Seal, The Human Beings & Fpur Albums are AMAZING!!
Doing something 'unusual' without knowning it was something what happened to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders as well. She wrote songs with odd timesignatures without realizing it herself. An exemple of that is the song 'Tattooed Love Boys'. Her fabulous guitarist James Scott bluffed his way through the recording having no clue what the timesignature was. Ever thought about interviewing her Rick?
This song might be the top1 composition of all time for me... There is nothing like it!!!
Loved this! Great human, great musician, great song. Also: i never noticed this was a different channel.
yooooooooooooooooo rick's channel is on fire. Words of wisdom from seal... great stuff and fucking inspiring
But did you know that when it snows My eyes become large and The light that you shine can be seen
People that weren’t around when this came out have no idea how huge this song was! Even though it got played to death, it still holds up today. Great song. Great performance by Seal.
Seal is a class act when it comes to singing, and writing. And his honesty makes him much more important to the music industry !
This sung was never overplayed when it came out
There was a time when I listened to his first album every day. Amazing artist.
Perhaps the one time the Grammy’s Song of the Year award was right.
He has one of the best voices and is one heck of a song writer.
I would love to feel this inspired reading instruction manuals. 😂
Man those were the good old days of music. MTV was absolutely rocking and there was so much music coming out. There was no reason to change! Bring back original MTV and music videos!!!
Rick you are the “Rock n Roll Liaison”.
Amazing! I really love this song and congratulations on the channel Rick! 😁🙌🙏👽🎶🪐
One video. Two absolute legends.
Rick - Seal, how did you make that amazing song? Seal - IDk.
Kiss From A Rose is the greatest “Mic Check 1 2 1 2” of all time.
THEY'RE SO MANY SONGS FROM GREAT ARTISTS & I PRAY NO NEW VERSION OF THIS TIMELESS CLASSIC 💕💕🌺🌺🙏🏾🙏🏾🧚🏾♀️🧚🏾♀️🧚🏾♀️🧚🏾♀️ BORN & RAISED VEGAS & YES MY LIFE & AMERICA 🙏🏾🙏🏾🧚🏾♀️🧚🏾♀️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😔😔😔
I always sing Kiss From a Rose on the Grain. It feels like it refers as much to nature as to romance. Its the same heart. I was also well into Led Zeppelin and Stairway to Heaven at that time in the 90's and the two songs feel very similar. So if there's any young music lovers reading this who havent looked at Led Zeppelin - go do it!
This was great. Thank you sir. Love learning about all this stuff. Keep them coming.
Amazing mini interview. Very original format.
This was beautiful! Thank you, thank you!
One of my favourite Seal songs is the one he did with Santana that was written by Rob Thomas, You Are My Kind.
Love 'Rick Beato 2' ... always great insights.
How wonderful this is. Thank you for using your access & curiosity to delve into these cool questions. And - Thank You, Seal!!
That was cool, man. Such a generous person. That song and that voice are just awesome
What a tune
This is so great Rick! I'm such a huge Seal fan from WAY back. Seeing him live is quite a treat! A real artist.
Love this format. Thank you for bringing these legends to us 😊
I love Seal so much and this just underscores who he is! I'm all warm and fuzzy inside!
Beautiful and amazing songs from him ❤️ did you ever attend any of is concert!
Amazing!! Thankyou! Such an impressive selection of icons!!
Absolute classic song. I was blown away when I first heard it... and am again every time I hear it.
Love this! What a lovely chap.
Enjoyed so much, thank you !!! More interviews with Seal please. Love his voice, song and honesty ❤
I love hearing about the songwriting methods of artists and how particular songs came to be from inspiration onward! More of this please!
I loved this Breakdown, very inspirational!
Very intelligent person and singer...
Seriously, what an amazing vocal performance.
Great interview, amazingly beautiful song that endured
Again, heaps of praise that is so well deserved. We all raise a glass to you Rick and thank you so much for what you do.
Seal.... The legend.
Great song. One of those you're never tired of litening to. And Trevor Horn is a great producer and arranger.
Love and enjoy, love Seal answers, such a nice talented sir, and both so athentic and showing true love for music!
