I have a story about this game. Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) came out when I was 11 years old just wrapping up the sixth grade. At some point, when I was playing junior high soccer for two seasons, our team was… absolutely terrible. The important part of this story was that I really wanted to get this game. My mom would eventually try and make a bet with me before a game later in my seventh grade season that fall: If I could score a goal, we’d go to GameStop and I could buy a Wii U game of my choosing. I kid you not, this ended up being the only goal our team scored the entire season. We were that bad. *Edit:* Mario Kart 8 turns 10 years old this month, holy crap I feel old…
I love how people didn't read the fine print and voted "normal" version (incomplete/lap1) over "highlight" (which includes the whole track sections or uninterupted solos)

How and why did some abridged race versions win over the highlight reel version?? Dolphin Shoals and big blue for example??
my best guess is that most people dont listen to the full songs when voting and some people don't know the difference between the normal and highlight reel versions, so when they see "normal version" they'll assume that's the definitive version of the song
The site doesn't give you time to skip halfway through Dolphin Shoals to get to the solo, voting is about 15 seconds

How did dolphin shoals and big blues highlight version lose over the normal one??? For me personally Electrodrome is #1 and Big Blue in a close 2nd. Mute city, Cloudtop Cruise, Bowsers Castle and Thwomp ruins are my favs also why is Thwomp ruins so underrated 😢. This video was very fun to watch!

There were some really weird placements here that really make the results feel a tad bit unreliable imo. Specifically with Dolphin Shoals and Big Blue. I feel like the Highlight Reel variants and their Normal equivalents should swap places. In Dolphin Shoals' case, its literally an extension of the exact same song that i think feels more complete, similar to Super Bell Subway. In Big Blue's case, its just the normal and final lap variant put together, yet again, making for one long, cohesive song that feels like it reaches a point, similar to Mount Wario Thats how I see it at least and i just can't help but feel like some of those who were polled on these specific songs didn't actually know the differences between those versions (which is kinda weird because Mount Wario and Subway both had rankings like this that made more sense)
Yeah, there's definitely some baffling ones here. I think for the most part the lists generally make sense but there's some anomalies here and there.
