  • Wish I'd had heard this 15 years ago. With 15 years hindsight I can tell you people watching this he is right. Very long story short and simplified. I was a highschool dropout without a driver's license and had just moved out from home and wasn't welcome back. For years I struggled with every shity job I could find to not go into debt and hopefully have enough for rent and bills and 1(!) meal a day. I applied for jobs with better pay but none would hire because I didn't have a driver's license or finished school and usually both. When I turned 24 I had saved a little money and came into a small inheritance enough so I could afford driving school (at the time it cost about $3000 USD in my country) I passed with flying colors the same year. After that I applied to all these places I tried before armed with my license and years of experience from the lowest possible jobs and suddenly every door opened for me. Years later I'm now a house owner with a small plot of land to boot. Whatever you do Never stop trying.

    • I'm a n the exact same situation now. Im 20 and live with my friend currently because I almost broke my leg at one of those "shitty jobs" making it impossible for me to work or walk. Life has been a big foot in my ass tbh but I'm idolizing my future just waiting to see what I can do with what I've been dealt, to see how I endure these shitty days so I can live some of the best days of my entire fucking life. One thing I've always felt is life was never meant to be easy or hard it was just made for us to live so live it baby the bad, the good, and the in between.

I suffer with depression and there are some days where I can’t even get out of bed. But in 2020, I also graduated from university. I’ve been applying for jobs ever since and I’ve been getting rejected constantly. It is so demoralising. No matter how bad my life is at the moment, I continue to, as Denzel has said “Fall forward”. I am still applying for jobs. I am still trying to improve my health. I am still trying to make myself a better person. Thank you for this speech Denzel. I listen to it whenever I feel like giving up, and it helps me push forward.

  • “The gift of long suffering” Wow. I had to pause the video, it felt like I was punched in the chest. I find myself focusing often on my past and present suffering, and look at it as a burden that will never leave my mind. Something I need absolutely none of. Yet im an artist, and that simple quote made me realize my rough past is not a curse, its a gift. Some might not understand, and I dont mean to sound corny, but man did that quote overwhelm me.

    @Calilou52@Calilou522 жыл бұрын
    • it means patiently enduring lasting offense or hardship, it does not mean focusing on your past and present suffering. Don't do that, because that makes you neurotic and sad. You don't have control about the past or what happened but you do have control over your thoughts. When you start thinking about your suffering you will make you feel unhappy... don't do that! Try to look for things in the moment that you enjoy... simple things that you see so you snap out of that dwelling. Try it, please.

      @davek1728@davek17282 жыл бұрын
    • it IS a gift, because you are an artist. I think the most heart-pounding, breath taken art has not been produced out of shiny happiness. But from darkest days that you came from, and all the light changing you've seen on your journey from there, how the light change from dark to all the colors. Like the chameleon pigment. You have the gift of that past, of your eyes and your interpretation of that journey. Its heavy, but it's amazing.

I cannot help but go to the prayer room and I cried there. They’ve followed me my entire life and is not only the best advice I’ve ever received, but words I live by. There have been many times in my life where I’ve needed help, or been down, lost at love, felt alone and helpless where these words would almost comfort me. And times where I oiled catch myself coasting where they would re-focus me. So to everyone, but especially those who need it right now, be uncomfortable. ❤️

He was with his elderly mother taking her to her doctor appointment. Anyway he had to have a new heart but they didn't have a lot of money and would be put on a very long waiting list. Well long story short Denzel gave a large contribution to a hospital that saved this mans life. He made sure their home enviornment was refreshed: new carpeting, etc. so it would be safe and sanitary to come home to, to recover, I wish I had the resources to help people in their time of need like this. When the time comes, you will not think back a the things you haven‘t achieved, but you will think about the things that are to come that you will miss out. I believe good deeds remain, someone will remember you. Try to do good - that is success. Good luck to you on this journey.

The guy making 50k might think hey I am now successful. The guy making a 100k thinks he's a loser. Then the guy making 250k thinks they're all losers and he's successful. There's no end to that madness! I think the most successful and wise people probably have a life not driven by materialism or ego. They have all their basic needs covered and can enjoy and love life that the ego/successful "type" will likely never truly achieve.

So what's the point on being successful if you're not happy or even satisfied? Excuse my english, it's not my language.

    • @@Flaggyt that wasn’t the case at all. The point of it all was if you didn’t get anything from the video then that’s your opinion and that’s totally ok. It doesn’t mean others won’t have a different view. Like for me I enjoyed it and I think it’s okay that I did just because you or someone else doesn’t. You have your opinion of it being a useless video from a celebrity yet when I say it’s inspirational and meaning to me you have your say with it. I think I’m just as entitled to state my response out of that too. I’m not here trying to look for people to agree with me. Agree to disagree that’s fine too. I have no ill will or any other feelings towards you. Your a stranger as I am to you. Just don’t expect to write things directed towards me and not get a response back. What you say goes both ways. Don’t expect to state how you feel and not have someone else tell it how it is too. There’s no illusion or bubble here. Just normal discussions like mature adults. If you ever seen my channel I’ve always encouraged my viewers to express their opinion regardless if it’s what I agree with or not. I’m not here trying to change lives or be a influencer. Just a normal person like you viewing videos lol. Best of luck to you as well

We have the power to change and shape our entire reality, but a lot of us don't even know it. A lot of us think that we can't control what happens to us and that we can't do anything about the situation we're in. But this is so untrue. So many people have the potential to be so much more and they don't even know it.

I moved to Texas, found a rewarding job, married a wonderful woman and raised two great children but I had to be a colossal failure in the first job that was going no where to be where I’m at today. Denzil is right about failure and taking risks. Another lesson I’ve learned is that unemployment checks remove you’re sense of urgency, motivation and creativity to get on with your life. As for bosses, I rather have a straight forward SOB, than a back stabbing nicest guy in the world.
