Amusement parks are places where we see hope, smiles, and happiness. It's scary to see these places empty and deserted. Kinda has a dystopian feel.
The thing is is that most of these parks were never really that major.
Since you were talking about dystopia, imagine this: A toxic plague has been found in the world's water supply, forcing the globe into a catastrophic apocalypse in a matter of days. You stagger through forgotten streets, shreds of clothing on telephone poles as well as boards of wood shielding windows, keeping whoever inside mildly safe for the time being. You wander around a bit farther before you a hear familiar melody. You slowly turn your head only to find that to the left of you is the amusement park from your childhood. A xylophone creepily playing the park's theme tune. You explore the abandoned site with a heavy heart, memories washing over you in tidal waves, uncontrollable tears escaping your eyes and cascading down your cheeks. The attraction's sign looming above, reading the place you once shared happiness with friends and family. The sky capturing the overall mood with an eerie overcast as your mind soon travels back to the odd xylophone that first caught your attention with its plinking notes. You soon realize that not only were you not alone but you know you won't last much longer in this dystopia.
@@lizzygreeneyes that’s really good 👍🏻👍🏻

Amusement parks are creepy even when NOT abandoned. I worked at SeaWorld and late at night...weird!! It was scary to walk around. There were always people hiding in the bathrooms trying to swim with the dolphins and whales, and crazy drunk people who just didn't want to go home....
This is why seaworld shouldn’t have bars!
@@corkeliciouscorky2234 yeah

You do know that River Country has been demolished for over two or three years? They started building one of their next resorts. Things have slowed on the site because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As someone from England, it’s so intriguing to get an American take - particularly on Number 11, Dunblobbin. The name Crinkley Bottom was the name given to the fictional village where the BBC One show Noel’s House Party was based which aired between 1991 to 1999. The “giant spotty pink creature” Mr Blobby was brought in as part of the “Gotcha” pranks on celebrities before being brought into the show more frequently. Blobby at one point became more popular than than host himself, before becoming loathed and was axed for the final series in 1999.
I was born in 1999.
@@mojo3318 Very much a youngster then as far as House Party was concerned 😊. All the episodes of the show are on KZhead so well worth checking out - used to air on Prime Time Saturday nights (so around 7pm and we're 50-60 minutes each)

That Blobbin looks scary there Lad.. Good day Chap
@@kinggill3982 I never experienced the attraction myself, but I know from friends who did and other vloggers who have posted videos there, that once it did fall into disrepair after it was closed, it was a scary place to be! Bit eerie more than anything else perhaps. Likewise hope you have a pleasant day too 😊
You won't find me purposely in any abandoned anything. I thing abandoned structures are SO creepy. It's something I can't quite put a finger on.
Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk was really crazy at night. I grew up in the 60s in the Bay area, and Santa Cruz was the perfect setting for the classic, "The Lost Boys" movie. It was very scary at night, but at the same time, exciting. Tons of runaways lived on the beach...
Every summer our family would travel from San Jose up Hiway 17 to go to Santa Cruz and spend a weekend there I thought is was really neat. I have such fond memories of the lost mine ride that had a pond in front and every hour a dinosaur would slowly rise up out of the water then turn his head left to right and roar really loud then he would go back down under water I loved that!!!!
If 'The Lost Boys' had been filmed in England, I reckon it would have been filmed in Blackpool😏🤭, n the Pleasure Beach would have been the Boardwalk location!🤔, It would have been a completely different vibe what with the Northern English accents n a whole load of Chavie teenagers!😁🤣🤣, Lostboys is one of my favourite movies!😜✌🇬🇧
I would love to see that location. The old carousel still turning, beautiful.
Very cool video. It does not take long for Nature to take over again as if we had never been there.
Some of these would be great as a horror movie location

As a kid I visited Dadipark regularly in the eighties! It was already a bit dilapidated back then and not all rides seemed safe, but hey, we didn't know any better! It was a fun park, looking back on it... It's completely demolished now, so it's great to see some footage of my childhood, thanks for including it in this list!

New Orleans should have been #1
@@NKdidit.24 Pripyat should always be #1, not just for the creepy park, but because it's the entire CITY that was abandoned. Plus the reason that the whole area was abandoned in the first place.
Mad respect to the builders
I liked all these abandoned amusement parks, especially "Dinosaur World"! I learned about some of them in a previous KZhead video. It's scary how there were deaths and a boy losing his arm in some of these parks! God bless all the deaths! 🙏 These parks sure were popular back then.
Yep ,the cotton candy amusement parks are becoming extinct . Even the newer ones ,if not thought of to fit the times ,are at its end.
@@Earthmoonstars-el6rdso true the classic amusement parks no longer exist now it's all about money and selling merchandise
Its sad to see huge wooden rollercoaster destroyed! Great if they could be restored and moved to other amusement park
Fantastic video. I'm from the UK and had no idea about the Crinkly Bottom themed park (though I well remember the BBC's Noel's House Party on which it was themed). I also remember Camelot closing being reported in the news - I think you'll find most of the structures shown in this video have now been removed though recent aerial photography show that the ground structure of the park is still there (I gather it's been sold for development into new housing). The nearest abandoned location like this to where I live is a zoo called Penscynor Wildlife park. Any child of the '70s-'90s will remember this place as it was the choice destination for school trips and a significant number of cars in the area had a sticker bearing the park's logo on them because you got free parking with the sticker on a re-visit. Anyway - I digress - this was sold for housing in the late '90s when it suddenly closed and much of the land now has a housing estate called Penscynor Park on it. Most people don't realise that the back end of the original wildlife park including the now, decidedly derelict monkey houses, remains of the Alpine Slide (a bob-sleigh type ride) and even the large seal lake (now breeched) and waterfall are still there to this day - if you know how to get in...
I remember going there on a day trip whilst on a junior school holiday in the early 80's!🤔lol😄, great times!🤣😜✌
They wanted to build houses on the Camelot site but couldn't because there are newts there 😂
I'm surprised that Greenland Park in Japan wasn't mentioned. There's so much mystery surrounding that park, it's unsettling. You couldn't even locate it on Google Maps
Same with Toshimaen in Nerima, Japan. I had to star a parking lot to remember it's location. 😅
I went to Camelot in primary school for my Year 6 trip, a year before it closed. I still remember the log flume, the pirate ship and the jousting. Despite having a teacher who was horrible to me, looking back on it now I had a nice time. I've heard it's been repurposed into a zombie-themed attraction.
That’s extremely irresponsible of aquarium owners to simply dump the fish into a lake in which a lot of the fish won’t be able to survive. I know it’s not technically animal abuse but still..
Urban exploration is a lot of fun. These are great!
Have you visited Pripyat, Ukraine lately? ☢️
@@luisreyes1963 Oh I really wish I could!! I was scheduled to take an eastern European business trip that got close enough that I could take a few days off and explore there. But then my career ended when I ruptured the disks in my neck and had to retire. 😫 Another creepy place I’d like to visit is the massive antenna system near there called the Russian Woodpecker.
I remember going to Boomers back in 2006 and the Hurricane was the first large scale roller coasters i'd ever been on. Also the Go-Kart track is where i first learned how to drive them.
From magic to Shopping Malls. Things do change though. Change is a constant. I remember Playland at the Beach in San Francisco, California. Sweet memories.

King's Island is cool!! I like chocolate mint Klondike Bars at Wal-Mart!!
I worked at Joyland for 3 summers in the late 80s. As much as I would have liked to have seen the park reopened, sadly, it was not meant to be. All of the buildings are gone now, but at least the historic preservation group i belong to has several notable pieces from the park, including the main sign. I was able to walk thru the park several years ago (with permission), and have lots of pictures from the abandoned site.
It's sad to see so many things abandoned,Yet it's another example of the idea that humans are like locusts, take what they want and move on.

The Ghost Town in the Sky sounded and looked amazing and very fun! I hope it comes back some how.
I live right next to it, sadly nothing will ever happen with it. They’ve said for years they were gonna do everything they can to reopen, but the rumored current plans as of now is to tear it down and make affordable housing.
I think 10. Yongma land is interesting how the owner only charges $5 for entry. As an abandoned places enthusiast I think it’s cool how they encourage people to visit the abandoned park
Very nice video! Thank you for sharing!
Not a scary park, but the Land of OZ at Beech Mountain, NC was a park I went to as a kid. It was shuddered not long after that, but some folks came along a few years ago, spruced it up a bit and have certain days of the year where you can visit, complete with OZ characters around the park. I think you can also spend the night in Dorothy's House.
That's literally 10 minutes from my house! I love going to Beech and Oz!
I watched a whole other video on Land Of Oz that was very insightful.
So many things in the Wizard of Oz terrified me as a kid in the 80’s , and this would literally be a waking nightmare. Yikes! 😳🤯😅
I remember going to Dinosaur World when I was a child in the early 1970's. Lot's of fun. You forgot about Dogpatch also in Arkansas.

Yeah....not Typhoon Lagoon! That just sucks.
I moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1992. Joy Land was open but run down and attendance was low. I highly doubt it will ever be reopened.
Nara dreamland was originally supposed to be a Japanese Disneyland where they built the park and Disney would license out the characters but Disney dropped the deal the last minute
Can you imagine just going for a hike and coming across one of those statues in dinosaur park? Lmao. Or even better, that huge spider.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day now.
When I was little there was an abandoned amusement park near where I lived; the humps of the wooden roller coaster were just visible above the treeline. I was only little and, when it came into view, I'd stare at it until it was out of view again. I was equal parts terrified and fascinated. The park was torn down a few years later; not much remains out there, just a stairway in the woods leading from nowhere to nowhere. I have no doubt at all that if I lived near any of these parks I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd have to explore.
I love how the title wasn't a abandon park it was just a ride that was torn down the parks called kings island
Yeah I mentioned that as well I love how they just use and do whatever. They literally use video with no credit and an enormous amount of bad information or misleading at the very least.
Rip son of beast! Kings island is one of my favorite park when I saw the thumbnail i was like wtf they talking about.
@@thecluelesscosplayer1300 me: Kings island closed down? Also me: if you abandon a park, why would you pay to tear down the coasters?
@@gabeross515 it’s not shit I was there today the person who made the video just used a pic of the tear down of the son of beast. Back in 2009. I miss that rough coaster.

I really hope Joyland in Kansas comes back! Glad I got to go back a few years back to see all the buildings again. Its all demolished now, sucks I never got to go there as a kid, but here's to hope!
Really enjoyed your video and just subscribed to your channel! Came across your video and started watching it.
I loved River Country!! My dad took us to disney world a few times from Illinois. It was one of the first waterparks I've been to as a kid, but I would go today if it were open--the tubing was my favorite.. All the other waterparks have the exact same stuff. I am surprised they just abandoned it. My dad dropped my brother and I off and we would stay all day.
Check out schlitterbahn. The original park
Very interesting and very sad…. Somehow these areas need to be cleaned up..
For those who are wondering what the park is on the thumbnail is, it's Kings Island. Kings Island is an amusement park originally ran by paramount parks (Yes, that paramount) and now run by cedar fair, a group who runs a chain of parks including Cedar Point, Valley Fair, and Michigan's Adventure. The coaster shown on the thumbnail is Son of Beast, an infamous coaster opened as the first wooden coaster over 200 ft. tall. I can't explain all of these, cause it would take forever, so here's some video links: Defunctland's explanation on why it was infamous: kzhead.info/sun/hJyHfaexrZOfoJE/bejne.html POV of the ride: kzhead.info/sun/fcugdZR-kIiVjKs/bejne.html

Another great explanation on the ride is someone named ElToroRyan!
@@sidneyirene6019 yeah I watch him
It wasn't originally ran by paramount. The park was founded by Taft Broadcasting in 1972, Paramount didn't buy it until 1992
River Country wasn’t something Disney didn’t get right. It was actually very popular. However, with both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach open and easier to get to, numbers fell off. It also wasn’t standing when this video was made. The land was cleared about two years ago for a new project which stalled due to COVID.
Groomer Island.
Very interesting!! Thank you!!
THAT WAS AWESOME
These are more sad than scary in my opinion
The theme park 'Australia's wonderland' was like these parks that were left abandoned in Sydney. I was lucky enough to have been there back in 1993. It closed down sometime around 9/11 back in 2001

Hi I'm from indonesia, I'm really love to theme park and attractions, I was working at the park until 8 years. So sad watching this video, looking this situation I wished covid-19 going the and. Hope to work and playing again at the park 😔
I drove past 'Camelot' back in early 2003. I did not know that there was even a theme park there. I had never heard of it. Unlike the 80's, heavily advertised, TV commercial for 'American Adventure Park, Derby, UK'. This theme park also got demolished but stood as a Ghost Town for a while. Very sad to see. I think that the echoes of the past excitement fun and screams, will be forever heard.
A really very interesting video. :D However, it is not entirely true that Yongma Land is the only former amusement park in the world that's still open to guests. In this country, for example, we also have a closed amusement park that you can still enter for a small fee (sometimes even with real guided tours), e.g. to take photos and so one. ;)

It would be great if you could find more for other Old Amusement Theme Parks and Abandoned. I know there was Whalen Park and Riverside Park and Salisbury Park and I'm sure there are others too.
One correction for #1: The Wonderland Castle that was never completed, was, for whatever goddamn reason, preserved when the other structures were demolished.
You can enter the Spreepark in a guided tour, entering on your own is illegal and there may be guards. There is also an abandoned park in south Germany, the "Fränkisches Wunderland". Urbexers can enter the park on their own risk for 50€, there are surveillance cameras and they call the police when someone enters illegally.
A video game called The Division 2 features an abandoned amusement park on its expansion. Thank you for the update, Top Fives..!!
When investors build theme parks and try comparing them to Disney, they forget two things: Disney is connected by the customers to both the movies and television. Disney's genius was that he used the Disneyland TV Show (later called "The Wonderful World of Disney" and "Disney's Wonderful World") to promote his Disneyland theme park. These investors don't have a big hit TV series and a movie company to promote their parks. Walt Disney gave the theme park the same name as the TV Series (both were called Disneyland in the 1950s). Viewers of the hit series connected the name to the theme park. Poof! Walt Disney had the power of television to advertise his theme park during his hit show.
nara dreamland wasnt just a ripoff of disneyland. it was literally supposed to be japan's own disneyland. the owner was in talks with walt disney to use the characters and icons of disney inc, but they couldnt come to an agreement on the licensing prices. but it was already nearly complete so the owner decided to open nara dreamland but with no disney licensing so they had to come up with their own characters.
