Understanding various shock types like hypovolemic, cardiogenic, anaphylactic, and septic is critical knowledge for nursing school exams and the NCLEX.
This video details pathophysiology, causes, patient manifestations, labs, treatments, and nursing interventions to stabilize hemodynamics for each classification. Recognizing early signs of shock enables rapid, potentially life-saving treatment for compromised oxygen perfusion. Reviewing the major characteristics differentiating types of shock ensures students understand this essential emergency response topic for testing and clinical practice.

I can't get over the patient shimmying on the floor at 2:58. That looks like my partner after an encounter with poison oak.
Thanks sir

Coming back and watching this for fun after graduating and being an ICU nurse for 4 months, literally every patient has some sort of shock or sepsis and this all became second nature.
Thank you nurse Mike. I made it though nursing school because of simple nursing and now I'm back on your videos to try to help my student that I'm precepting.
Man, your classes are really fun. I wish that all schools were like this.
As someone who suffered a hypovolemic shock and was hemodynamically unstable this was so interesting to learn what was happening at the time!
I passed the NCLEX last month on my first attempt. Thank you for your videos. You help me a lots. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻

Thank you mike for helping us achieve our dreams
Im such a visula learner these videos are gold for me. I bought archer yet its jsut a person lecturing for hours i just cant stay focus. This is perfect, and helps me visualize to remember things.
Thank you soooo much for this video. I’m not a nurse but in EMT training. I’m one of those people who need to know “why” instead of just remembering facts. I love how you give the reasoning behind how shock manifests! I was having difficulty differentiating each one as they are soooo similar. I think neurogenic shock stood out as the most different as the heart rate and skin are the most unique from the rest.
I am a student from China, I listened to some of the lessons on KZhead and found the animations plus explanations very interesting, I purchased the lessons on the website and found the lessons with animations very easy to remember, but some of the lessons are still written on the blackboard, which is a little hard for me to understand (because of language problems) I hope to update these lessons in time and turn them into animated form, I will recommend them to me to prepare for the exam together Nclex_RN's students. Thank you very much to the team at simple nursing for making such an excellent video. Thank you!
I passed my nclex. Your videos are a blessing for nursing students. You explain everything important point and tricks to remember it. I can’t thank you in words. You are doing great work. I watched your videos your videos before exam.

@@SimpleNursing how to do that?
Is the priority intervention for septic shock admin antibiotic to rid of causative agent or admin iv fluids? @Simple Nursing
Im not sure the NCLEX answer but since septic shock causes leaky capillaries you need to replace fluids first, antibiotics can’t work fast enough to help the patient. Realistically they’re at the same exact time in real life right but if you ask yourself “what’s going to kill them first” and that’s going to be the severe hypotension secondarily the sepsis.

Hello Mike.. so let’s say the patient’s oxygen saturation is 84% on room air & you want initiate oxygenation, must you still lower the head of the bed?
Fluids are no longer indicated for neurogenic shock in most cases, O2, stablization of C-spine then phenylephrine to maintain BP and organ perfusion, atropine for symptomatic bradycardia and mannitol for cerebral edema.
Sir your every thing is good

And neurogenic shock is cold and clammy not warm and dry

septic shock have warm skin, not cold and clammy skin
There is early and late septic shock, earl is called warm shock and late is cold. If you have your med surg text, take a look it’ll explain the differences

at 12:14 why would we be giving dopamine to someone with hypovolemic shock if their HR is already elevated?
HR is the compensatory mechanism for low blood pressure. Dopamine is a vasopressor to increase blood pressure and increase perfusion to the body

Where is the quiz? I don't see it in the description box.

We were taught in our class that CVP is 8-12.... does it depend on facility?
it is 8-12, maybe it's a typo for their part
