I've needed a decent welding table/workbench for some time. I've always managed the best I could with what I had but this is going to make work much easier and more accurate too. I've not seen anyone fill the gaps in on a welding table before but it made sense to me as I'll probably be using this as a general workbench 75% of the time.
A big thanks to Jason from Fireball Tools for his tips, which were extremely helpful! You can view his video here • How to Weld Without a ...

There is something about waking up on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and watching this genius of a guy work on metal.
It's better that, after a coup of coffee and this video, you finally find inspiration to start that project you've been delaying for some time. So, heading to the shop. Regards.
'...watching this genius of a guy work on *anything*'. There, fixed it for ya! 😂
Well said!
@@myharris Thanks for clearing that up for me.
exactly what I just did!
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzhead.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
That string check was cool.
That table is a thing of beauty. I don't even weld and I was still drooling over it. Fantastic design and work!
Thanks very much - I was thinking it would make a cool dining table or desk but obviously with much thinner steel. :)
@@PaskMakes I love centimeter of this thing. It's a work of beauty that I would be proud to have in my house. Not sure at all if thinner steel would improve upon that :)
I really like watching you work, your voice is very calming, and the fact that you allow the woodwork noises to make it sound natural
I was going to say the exact same thing!
Thanks very much - glad you're enjoying the videos. :)
It's the attention to detail that makes these builds and videos so amazing! Going back and putting extra tape on each bar rather than fudging it. Keeping the sides square, grinding the weld/installing screws replacing with rubber stops so the spacers sit exactly right. Not to mention thinking about the fact the rubber should go on the bar not the table. Then removing the mill scale, waxing it etc ... Amazing!
Congrats, the best DIY welding table I have seen on YT. Cheers.
I need to make a sign in my shop “ Chill Dude, Neil makes mistakes also”. Great design as always Neil!! Welding was spot on also.
Thanks mate! I make plenty of mistakes, I'm sure we all do. Not sure the welding was spot on but I reckon it's good enough. ;)
I thought the same. :-)
I think that is one of the nicest and well thought out welding tables I've ever seen.
Thanks for this wonderful distraction... can't wait for part 2. And thanks for owning up to mistakes... it is always interesting to see how you recover and I love your problem solving idea...they always lead to a great final product
That is a bench to be proud of Neil. Well thought through & every step done to perfection. Enjoy it mate.
Nice to see both of your little helpers again. The bench is very well thought out. Nice job.
brilliant mate! from inception to design, to execution, absolutely brilliant! its more than heartening to see a craftsman find and implement a solution to a problem, small or large, instead of "making do". so many just let it go half-arsed and live with it, using the initial flaws as excuses for substandard results.
It's looking really good. Everytime I wear shorts when welding I send a spark down a shoe. Fireball makes great tools and videos.
Really a well-thought-out project that finished up nicely and will provide years of good service. Well done!!
This table is a thing of beauty! You did one hell of a great job Sir!
You're going to get years of service out of that one, great design and build! Thanks for sharing it.
Really love the humble pride that shows in your smile when you look at your finished table. I can tell you're pleased with how your project turned out, and rightly so. Job well done!
Thanks very much - I must say that I am pretty pleased with it! :)
You have definitely have given me a lot to think about when I will be ready to build a bench. I especially love the removable thin bars that you put in between the plates and your stops that are movable around the outside of the bench.
Beautifully done. My son and I started watching your scrap wood challenge videos a couple years ago and now we're enjoying watching you learn new things. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful work! That’s a beast of a table.
Nice work as usual! I love watching Jason from fireball tools...he does some excellent fabrication videos and that water jet is crazy. Glad you found him :)
Thanks! I've only watched a few of his videos but really enjoyed them and will definitely watch more! :)
Epic !!! That’s one of the best welding tables I’ve ever seen. Strong work !!! 👍🏻👍🏻
You are an absolute legend sir Pask, you manage to entertain me in most of your videos and that means you have done it to other viewers as well. You work meticulously and I am sure metal works is just a piece of cake to you. Keep up the good work!
Every time I watch your videos I get the same enjoyable experience. I feel deeply impressed by your craftsmanship, your diligence and wide-ranging knowledge. With the best wishes for you and your upcoming projects, I will look forward to your future videos. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Loved the “beauty shot” of the pups.......oh and your table came out awesome too. Well done my friend.
I don't think they've been in a video for a while so thought they needed to make an appearance. :)
@@PaskMakes - Yes Loved the Pups!
Beautiful table, and well thought out. Good to see your welding is really coming on. Thanks for the video.
Brilliant thanks Neill, shared it with my brother and hubby. Love the pups, they are so cute
What a beautiful design and creation, Neil. One of the most aesthetically pleasing welding tables I've ever seen. I love it! Great trick with the vinegar, I must remember that one.
lol, even threw in a pair of bench dogs at the end
Can't wait to see what you do with it. Those removable slats are seriously clever.
Love when two of my favorite channels meet! Awesome work!👍🏻👍🏻
I think that Jason at Fireball Tools would approve! Well done that welding table would have a place in any decent fab shop for sure! Your versatility in making stuff always impresses. Cheers from Tokyo! Stu
I hope so Stu! Thanks very much! :)
Another, classic, OVERKILL by Neil. Nothing new mates, just a solid, lifetime guaranteed construction for the generations to come... Cheers and many many beers for many many years mate!
Love watching your videos. They are the best out there. You don't just make, you teach while you do it and that is impressive.
Man, this is a work of art! For me that only have basic steelworking tools this looks so much more achievable! I loved the video!
This was a very satisfying build to watch.
Nothing like cutting your freshly welded piece apart - one thing I have learned watching youtube, we all make mistakes. Even Pask Makes Mistakes :-)
Clear, crisp, excellent pace and production values. Just lovely. Well done.
I really like this video. I just started metal working at the beginning of Covid and have been interested in building a table like this. I was happy to see that you made a metal working video!
While I was in college, I worked summers at an industrial plant (FMC) and became familiar with both welding techniques and tools. I just want to comment that your design, fabrication, and versatility of this table is extraordinary. The absolute utility and finish are exceptional. Best to you and the family, give the pups a hug, and be healthy.
Thanks very much! :)
That's an excellent, well thought out table. Well done Neil, oh and hey that shirt looks good too :) Thanks mate.
Thanks mate and thanks for the shirt, Love it! :)
The 2 of you should collaborate a project together and donate or sell it or whatever......?
Hands down the best welding table I've ever seen. I have seen a lot. Great work.
Your work ethic inspires me to be more precise and do more planning in my own workshop. I’m not and I never do but I’m inspired none the less.
That's a great design Neil!
Thanks Justin! Glad you like it mate! :)

@@PaskMakes did you ever make any plans or cultists for the ultimate welding table? I would like to copy it if you didn’t mind. Thank you.
First off, great video. As a helpful idea. When your tacking any square together try just tacking the inner edges together first. This method in conjunction with your gaps between your pieces will allow you to measure, squeeze, and pull the cross ends together and apart to make everything nice and square. Then when you tack the outer edges it will lock everything into place. That's how we trued up the ladder skids I built for a pump company. You can pull your measurement cross ways then use a ratchet strap for big stuff or push it on end against a wall until both measurements are the same then tack the outside and check for twist like you did. Hope that helps.
It's actually the complete opposite. You always must try to tack the outer sides, it's easier to push inwards that to pull outwards
Your attention to details are remarkable. Very well thought work from start to finish. Congrats.
Awesome work man. I’ve seen a lot of these videos but yours seems like one I would actually consider making for my shop. Great video!
I have to admit, I watched all the way through and wondered why you were doing the slats, when it would be easier to just weld a big bit of plate on the top, then you showed the clamp part and I literally said out loud "i'm an idiot" - excellent work as ever :D
Another method people use is a solid top with holes drilled and special clamps for the holes. But with the slat method, there's no holes until you remove the slats.
Very nice! Wonder if I could make room for something like that!? Space is limited...
Yet another great use of the 3 point principal. Thanks for showing it. GREAT table!!!
Very nice and simple design for a welding table. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work. Can't wait to see next video.
Cool!!!

Here is one of my favorite welding table vids. kzhead.info/sun/fbWboZGBe2mdapE/bejne.html
I have the Fireball Tools squares and can say I find the "3 point" method much more simplified and easier. 3x of 2" angle iron with a square tube clamped across the top works great. The custom squares come in handy here and there but have found that they stay in my tool drawer a lot. They are indeed good for welding upright legs in corners though, but with a little work you can make your own squares out of tube as well. I also want to give a word of caution. If you are going to be welding anything for more than 20-30 minutes, never wear shorts or short sleeves. In fact I never recommend shorts at all, ever. It's far too easy to get UV burn and weld spatter in your shoes or boots. Long pants..always. Lastly, I see no reason to have the filler bars at all. And to remove mill scale, the best answer is pre-soak in muriatic acid for 30 min to 1 hour, then immediately after that, dip for another 30 min in phosphoric acid, otherwise the steel flash rusts. Phosphoric gives a rust prevention coat. Vinegar really does nothing except oxidizes and rusts. It's often used in a mix to patina metal for a rust look.
Brilliant workmanship, as is all your work I've seen. Bravo.
Pask, I have thought of building a welding table but my ideas were just over complicated. This is so clear and functional and so elegant (in terms of design). I really appreciate your work. Thank you.
I see old milk crates are just as handy on the other side of the world too!
Who says they have to be old, I have about 12 of them around the yard. I use them for scaffold, stools, temporary ladder, welding props, formwork support and chairs. I use milk crates for just about any temporary furniture or stand inside the house, garage, and around the yard. They are modular and give you a new level of 320mm above the floor, so handy.
"Can't even follow my own plans" I AM NOT ALONE after all !!!!!!!
That, sir, is the king of work benches. Well done. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.
I want that work bench. The blue with the bare metal looks amazing. Good job
Being in a similar wet environment, I would love to know how the wax on the table top works out. How often you have to reapply it, effectivness, level of effort, would you do it again, etc. Great build!
Yes it will be interesting to see. I think whatever finish goes on, there has to be a degree of maintenance. :)
@@PaskMakes I'm sure it will help with preventing spatter from adhering, especially if it's reapplied regularly
That table makes me feel things that my wife hasn't made me feel in years.
Jjjjjj maybe you need a blond neighor table to "weld" jjjj only a joke (mmm...)
The one thing i truly like is you actually show your mistake's most other You Tuber's never do.That is why i love watching you video's because when i cock something up i think to myself HEY even the pro's mess up....Can't wait for the next video..Stay Safe..love from Nottingham England
I love that you are obviously also getting carried away, when doing a project - and then realizing that the plan was different. Great to see all the turns you take - makes it much more authentic than skipping the "mistakes"...
I’d love to mimic your table with exactness. Would you share all the dimensions?
just search for "FOOTMASTER Plate Casters" on amazon
Thank you! I was specifically digging into the comments to see if anyone had answered what those casters were. I think I need some.
Never boring.
Beautiful table. Great concept with the removable slats. Well done.
This is one of the coolest pieces you've ever made. Very impressive!
It's beautiful. I have set of those Blickle casters on my mill table, they are indeed the business.
I finally got the correct way to designate those casters & was able to order a set. Thank you for sharing your table. I will likely make a similar one.
Everytime I watch your videos, it reminds me that I miss living in Banyo/ Brisbane. Australia is an amazing country!!
I Really like this table. It is one of the best simple designs . Definitely one to be proud of.
Simply said: amazing! Keep on doing this videos and products, entertaining and creative. Thank you!
I love to see your process in action Neil, awesome work!
I love your channel. You make everything with thought, precision and care.
honestly, this is beautiful enough to put inside the house! ... amazing job.
I reckon your reckoning is spot on as this bench is brilliant. So many things I need to build but my new shop takes the top slot for now. Great job bud...👍
Congrats on the new table, and great design! What a gamechanger!
Beautiful work, Sir. I will need to watch again for all of your ideas.
Nice work mate!!! One of the best tables I’ve seen. Great video and description.
Fantastic! I have absolutely no need for such a table, but now I really, *really* want one!
Very nice, I've got one with threaded holes on a grid and you will definitely like the clamping ability, it's so much more efficient.
I'm not sure why, but I am always surprised when I hear a youtuber say they saw something on another youtuber channel I follow. I hold Fireball Tool's work and design skills in very high regard, much as I do yours. Thanks for sharing...
Fantastic work Neil! A very solid welding table indeed.
I really like the table! I'm excited for more metal working on your channel.
Thanks for showing when you make errors. It's nice to see that errors will happen, and are not the end of projects. Love your videos.
I love your new metal working table. Great design. My you have many years of creative adventures with it. Thank for sharing
Great job, I normally wouldn’t watch a 19 min video of someone building a welding table but your attention to detail made me watch the whole thing.
Very nice....thats one of the best welding tables I've seen...i can't help but wonder if your welding table looks this good, I can only amagin how awesome your projects look..perfection my friend...thank you
Nice welds! Awesome table, and your clamping ideas are really interesting.
Your work should be shown in France where only intellectual work is seen as good, working with one's hands is considered by most of our thick teachers as degrading. You achieve great things. Congratulations from the Champagne country in France & big thumbs up!
Very nice design, I really like the clamping ability with the removable slats 👍
I love watching your videos, and I love how you arent afraid to admit you are human and make mistakes like the rest of us. It takes the pressure off, to know I can something new and not do it right the first time.
Your work is incredible, and you too Neil!
You can always trust him to make the most ingenious and high quality tools and in this case a welding table!! I one day hope to be as clever, talented and as good a man as you are!
Thanks very much - glad you liked it! :)
Really nice!!! Your attention to detail is stunning as always.
Fairly new subscriber and as always I enjoy watching your ingenuity Neil! I always look forward to the next one!
this is an excellent welding Table Neil! Not even the purchasable welding tables are so well thought-out.
That's an awesome design! if I had a shop, that looks like a fantastic project for a simple yet functional design. Also, glad to see you got new boots!
