    • The idea for the weapon reminds me a lot of Necrid from SCII but instead of ripping off moves from other characters, he actually has a full compliment of his own unique moves. There's undoubtedly an Algol influence (and hopefully that's in the lore too!) but I'm glad that they took the Necrid weapon idea and did something much better with it.

  • For those who are unaware, Practical Application of Martial Philosophy and Theory is a fancy and archaic way of saying data. He's fighting using data/information taken from the fragments of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. Y'know how Inferno's bio in SC1 says that Soul Edge has "crystallized" the memories of those who wielded it to mimic fighting styles? Azwel is using that very same thing

  • Calling it now. Inspired by the legend of King Algol, Azwel created Palindrome, hoping to surpass him and ultimately claim Soul Calibur and Soul Edge for himself. Unfortunately, this would ultimately be his undoing, as his spirit would be weak enough for Inferno to overtake him. Thus, he wouldn't live to see the new post-Soul Calibur 2 timeline.

    • A part of his story has been revealed by developers and apparently he is a scholar who decided humanity was doomed to self-destruct through constant war and in his 'love' for humanity he decided to enact a as of now unknown plan to save them from themselves. Also his weapon, palindrome, is apparently guantlents with shards of soul's edge and soul calibur in them.

  • I'm getting more and more pumped about this game as time passes. Sure, Tira being gated off as day-one DLC sucks absolute ass, but the way the game is shaping up to be, it seems like it might redeem itself. This character seems to using Algol as a template, but seems VERY different from Algol in spite of that. It should be noted that I had any issues with Algol. He had a story and a place in the Soul Calibur lore, but he also felt very...by the numbers and predictable, I guess. This character feels fresh. He looks cool as fuck. Seriously, his character design is awesome. His moves also seem to be new and specifically for him, rather than using something similar to Algol's. Also, that move where he knocked the opponent into the air and then slammed them down in a WWE-like move, THAT WAS AWESOME. My thoughts are disheveled as fuck, but man, I'm excited for this game, holy shit.

  • He seems like a really cool villian, but what I really want to know is this: Since it's implied that every base character in the game has their own role in the main story mode, does that mean Azwel is also going to play a part in it? Maybe like someone who gains so much power that he goes insane & declares himself the "Leader of Humanity," and possibly tries to destroy both of the Soul Swords because he believes that will allow humanity to break away from destiny or whatever he's preaching?

    • Honestly I'm thinking more that he either was among the priests-mages who created Soul Calibur (while sacrificing Algol, seems to be a pattern) and somehow wants both the swords instead of destroying them, further doing some other sacrifices to empowers those swords and him, or he is part of the tribe of guardians with Zasalamel and wants the swords to further his power. Though I'm leaning more with the first option.
