Pieray - How to Find ANY Base in Minecraft [Debug Menu, Pie Chart]
Today, I will be teaching you how to use pieray to find ANY base on any Minecraft multiplayer server or survival multiplayer (SMP). It's crazy to think that this little piegraph on the bottom right of your [Shift + F3] screen can find enderchests, shulker boxes, enchanting tbales, jukeboxes, beacons, mobspawners, and so much more! Then again, it depends on the version you play on. But don't worry, I cover everything pie-ray shows from Minecraft Java 1.11.x to the most recent 1.20 snapshot. Tune in to learn more!

Good job! Everything nicely explained. It is cool to see how people use Pie Ray not only in speedrunning but also for base hunting. The story how I found it is a bit hillarious, so here it is. I was reading the minecraft wiki about the debug screen like three times to find something cool that could be used as an advantage. The first two attempts were a failure because I was concerned there is nothing new about the F3 menu. After each time I read the wikipedia I gave up and I had a break from reading it for a few months. When I read the wikipedia for the third time thinking there is nothing new to be found, I scrolled down to the pie graph information. When I noticed the wikipedia says that it is possible to navigate through it using 0-9 numbers I instantly got a brainwave. I hopped on minecraft and found the path that showed the blockentities. After I realised how it works, I instantly knew that it can be used in speedrunning to find nether fortresses, villages and that it can be used in base hunting. I published my own discovery on the youtube and the speedrun community loved it. Speedrunners started to learn it and almost everyone uses it now. They started to experiment with it. One of the speedrunners - TheTalkingMime, found a path in Pie Ray that can be used to find buried treasure without the map. The strategy is called mapless. This is definitely the best use of Pie Ray in modern speedrunning as the buried treasure can be found fast and it contains food, iron and sometimes tnt for the blocks. I was so surprised mapless was a thing, I would probably never discover it on my own. I am really proud that discovering the Pie Ray, helped the speedrunners to beat the game faster and gave them opportunity to experiment with it further to find more. It is so amazing to see that every speedrunner in the world uses my strategy and to see that people use it in a smart way to hunt bases.
I remember using e count back in the day to basehunt on faction servers. Never would have imagining a the little pie would be able to be used as a way to help speed run and basehunt. Mapless is nuts. But it got me experimenting with gamerenderer on multiplayer as well hahaha. Anyway, welcome! Thank you for checking out the video!

slight correction: it is the MOVING piston that shows up, not the EXTENDED piston. If you have a base with a piston-based farm which is turned off, it does not matter if pistons are extended or not. It will matter if you turn on the farm and pistons start moving. also the squared circle is brilliant.
Yeah, I caught myself fixing them. Noticed I missed a few spots. But yes, the piston needs to just be active for it to show.
pieray is goated for finding fortress, buried treasure and end city in 1.16 speedruns

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Or just make it not work in multiplayer or something.
Today, I finally got back to my main Lifesteal smp but when I got in the game, my base is completly bombed and all the chests (including the ones in the secret room) was gone. The thief was likely a more advanced player (because he/she uses End Crystals) and because of that he/she might actually used pieray

My pie always displayed the jukebox i had in my home even if i was far and had render distance low. Turns out when you have a custom server the pie uses the server setting of render distance and not your own in 1.19.4 Meaning server is set to 25 chunks and i can see 25 chunks away with this and cant shorten in making it pretty useless
I've been hearing 1.19.4 changed some things. I'm looking deeper into ;)

You do not need a texture pack. Are you using any F3 mods?

, I think I have found another way you can do it when you're looking at the pie chart and you look at the percentages if the percentages go up that MA you're going closer if it goes down you're going further away right
This works only when the item is within render distance and you look in it's direction. The percentage may jump up and then back down but it isn't a for sure method as other things could jump up and give you false positives
I'm playing on 1.20.1 and i'm trying to find Buried Treasure. All tutorials on the internet tell me to go to either root.gameRenderer.level.entities and look for blockEntities, or root.tick.level.entities, but it seems like that only works in previous versions, specially 1.16.1, which is the most used speedrunning version. How do i find it in 1.20.1?
So if you're by a beach and do this when you render in the chest the chest should spike in percentage on the pieray. And if you don't want to use pieray at all just mine at every coordinate that's 9,9 inside the chunk (info can be seen on the F3 screen). Buried treasure is only found in 9,9 of a chunk on a beach.
The pie chart is too small, even when I turn up the gui scale it is still small, any way to fix this?

Refresh it by pressing shift + f3 to close it and shift + f3 to reopen it.

Hello! I play on a server. They know a lot about f3 pieray here. They make vaults out of barrels that aren't in the diagram. I was wondering if there is a mod that would allow you to add barrels so that you can see them too???

I’m using Java 1.20.1 to get the pie to appear every time without using shift do you have to get optifine? If so how do you get it? Cause I’ve looked through the settings and the is no debug profiler for me

optifine is so far the only way to turn on pieray with just F3.

if it's not showing, use f3+1! if you're on a Mac, use option+f3+1!

Almost always. Dungeons spawn in fairly commonly across the world and always contain a chest and spawner. Unknown is just useless info piled into one category.

I have never used Feather but I would take it it's just a different menu style where things could also be in different places. Your mileage may vary.

Technically yes. So... if you're flying and it's just unspecified, chest and mob spawner, those are everything and no need to refresh but once you get something on the pieray that you're wanting to check out, then yes. Refreshing the pieray every chunk helps so you can see when it goes away or comes back in. Once counting down on render distance 2, makes it very easy to narrow down chunk.

Can anyone tell me how I can toggle through my inventory with the number keys without presseing any of the numbers on the pie chart? for example if I want to equip pickaxe on my 5th slot I would press 5 on my keyboard but that also presses 5 on the piechart so how can I avoid that?
The only way would be to turn off pieray while changing slots in the hot bar or changing hot bar keybinds to not use 1-9. Luckily, if you press a number it'll just go into the next menu so you can always press 0 after you change items using numbered hot keys.

It makes no sense when I'm gaining the exact same thing you are doing with 2 chunks render distance I managed to get close to my bell however I was like an entire trunk away from it in when I do that method to try find the exact chunk it wasn't there it was off
Private server / world or public? It depends how the rendering chunks works on the server

I think it's just a way the server owner can configure the rendering. And circle rendering is harder to narrow down chunk.

@@blxr7909 I think it is an optifine only setting menu where you can choose things like the grass being green from the sides, what particles you want to see and things like the rotated texture option and the nessecary (to perform the action you want, the action being to toggle the pie chart to be turned on everytime you press f3) setting, debug profiler or something im not good at setting names.

you need to open the tick piechart and then the level pie chart first
Make sure you're in [0] Root. and nothing else after it. If you're in other stuff after root just hit 0 until you're in root. Then you hit the numbers that correspond to tick. Then level then either Block Entities or Entities (depending which pieray you want to use)

Pieray is vanilla. Anti-cheat has nothing to do with pieray. Just record if you think staff will ban you for ESP and prove to them it wasn't hacks.
@@Thesto ik but donut smp have anti ESP that spawn thousands of ender chests and shulker and chest so you can't ESP and can't use the piechart cuz on the piechart there's always stuf

pieray should be remove, its too much :( cant be 'alive' in the game with this i mean, the secret survival base with no villager no chest and no other cool stuff? where is the fun?? and whats the use for the base then lul its only fun to raider! they just wandering for other player's base to hours and hours with ender chest&shulker boxes they are not playing minecraft, they playing battleground in survival server WTH and its makes feeling void to normal survival players pieray need to be conditional system, like.. only can use with OP or.. need to turn on when you generaiting new map or something like those
Minecraft Battleground is definitely one way to summarize it! Right now, the only way to fight it is if a server doesn't allow it's use at this time. But I agree, there should be something that let's server owners or OPs to enable or disable it in the config without losing any more info in F3.

For numbers greater than 9?
For tick.level.blockentites? really depends on what it's showing for you at the time. I've seen tick between 1 and 4 and sometimes on 5. SAme with level. Entities and BlockEntities is usually 1 and 2
